While this is a highly anticipated series by the fans, neutrals may have something to say. Sorry, even fans may have something which they don't deem fit. Maybe it's the pairing, the acting, the storyline etc.

Lay it all down here and flush away the frustrations.

whats up with the lighting again? they used it too in love of canopy. but so far its not so bad.. in love of canopy they used way too many of the lighting effect making it seem to much like a dream, very unrealistic and just way too ffambloyant with the bright colors in the background.

And i also want to give my opinons on kevin cheng.. i really do not like this actor don't even find him attrative one bit.. and he can't act .. and i don't even like watching him and nikki together. You guys might argue back at me telling me to stop the series if i have so many negative views..well, im still going to watch the series because of bosco. IM just going to watch ONLY bosco and natalie scenes thats it.

^ Agreed, the lighting is really annoying. It makes everything look like a dream.

wasn't that the point of the lighting in UTCOL? to give it the dreamy feel? i guess they're using the lighting for the same effect here.
TheTruthLies
I think you guys should just watch with an open mind.

well, i personally like the effect of the lighting. smile.gif

I haven't watch this series yet, but seeing the previews makes me want to really watch it. I just hope that Niki doesn't die.
crazy4sushi
i fin dthe lighting very fresh and gives off a dreamy feeling which i dont mind cause it makes me feel relax and happy when i watch it heheh..

How about the fact that they totally ripped two ideas so far in Episode One, from the korean movie, A Moment To Remember?
The scene where Kevin bought the drink and Niki thought he took her drink but actually he didnt. (They changed this scene slightly from the k-movie)
And the scene where Kevin stuck out the door of his truck/van to stop the robber from escaping. Total rip-off.
Don't get me wrong, I like the show, but seeing scenes getting stolen/scenes that are not original (esp such when there's an obvious stealing of scenes) just makes me annoyed.

Actually starting from day 1 that this series was filmed, it already gave me the impression that it was similar with those Korean series........love story, life threatening disease (incurable one), the main role died in the end.......etc. so it's not surprising that they will copy or change some plots in one way or another.....! Those used to be part of the plots in a Korean series!

Don't know how this story will go......but it really gives me the feeling of ......a Korean series! Especially the snow scene in the theme song at the beginning!

Agreed...there is far too much of that 'light bloom'. It takes some getting used to but after a while it becomes bareable.

Kevin Cheng is an alright actor..I don't like his role though. WAAAAAAAY too cocky and I really really don't like his 'i don't give two sh!ts' attitude at the start.

I think the lighting is alright, gives it a dreamy feel which really suits the show. The only thing I don't like is the theme song, too slow and Bosco's hair.
jscwan
was actually looking forward to watching this,,, but I fell asleep after about 15 minutes so maybe its not as good as I expected..
Squirt88
I actually find the lighting a refreshing change from the usual TVB series. I like it in UTCOL too. The dreamy-feel is kinda nice, and I think it's appropriate for all-out dreamy romance stories like this.

My only complaint so far - Bosco's hair!!! tongue.gif
missLILY
I think this series is VERY different from the casual, average tvb series. Yeah. I agree, the lightning makes it kinda dreamy-unrealistic. It was annoying at first but I got used to it. And there's those scenes where it makes it look like it's a scene/screencap where they go in and out.. doesn't seem like its a tvb series loll.. yeah bosco hair is kinda ugly but i dont really care cause i dont really judge people on how they look. but overall, i love this series because the other series that tvb has been airing lately are CRAP. -__- wasabi & gentle.yuck.

&& i like it because it seems koreanish too happy.gif
I guess they wanna copy korean dramas because they totally beat the average tvb series lmao.
themissingpiece
The lighting really bothers me, it makes it hard to see some of the scenes especially when someone is wearing white. Makes everything seem out of focus. Considering that the series is supposed to evolve into something sad, does that mean the annoying lighting goes away?
tb1314
Well I have to say that TVB has used a very Korean and Japanese techniques in filming this serie. I think I like this serie more than under the canopy of love but well that is just a personal opinion. I like the way they draw the storyline.
bebemui
^ same here, i like their idea of using some of K-dramas technique in this series~ also i wanna know who that mysterious artist is..they didn't really show his face lol.

theme song is very slow and boring sleep.gif
the lighting is really annoying, it's even worse than in utcol.
the "storybook" thing.. i think it's overused, it's kinda irritating.
bosco's haircut.. it's not as bad as WOIL2's though, thank god!
the fact that niki and selena get aids.

hey im glad your views to this series is very similar to mine:)

i don't like the theme song.. no offense but kevin cheng doesn't even have a good vocal. the theme song sucks. perhaps, the theme song would be even better if they let nikki sing it instead. as for lighting, i found it extremely annoying in the first episode..but as the epsidoes progressed, i sort of didn't see the light effects anymore.. i think they took it away which is good:) As for getting aids.. i rather nikki gets lukemia instead of aids.. since both are incurable diseases.. the story would be even better if nikki suffered from lukemia instead!

I think you have gotten the characters mixed up. It is Selena's character who has aids not Niki's.
ohmyerror
The lighting kills me. I can deal with the "korean flavour"/overused storyline because as long as they make it their own, it can still be good. I can deal with Kevin Cheng, because even though I think he's a terrible actor he's good looking (wow that sound superficial), and he's not in that many scenes anyway. It's just the lighting...In certain scenes, it's not noticeable at all and that's when I feel a little more relaxed, but most of the times it is. The blur effect is not used in most normal dramas, why pull it out for this to create a "dreamy effect"? Why can't the dreamy effect be reserved for scenes that truly needed? It's just painful, when they are words or drawings on certain things and you can't actually see them because it's been blurred out. And it's silly because it's almost as if you're trying to hide all the imperfections.

I'm just sad, because the story line intrigues me and I will keep watching it.

me too one of the things that attracted me to watch this and UTCOL was the lighting

iluvu43va143
i think the lighting makes this series more romantic. however, scenes of bosco and natalie is really similar to the american movie "how to lose a guy in 10 days." especially when bosco is watching the game with his friends and she came up to give them healthy drinks and snack... the overall story of them pretending to like each other and make is other ticked off is from that movie.

Some issues with the continuity in the series kind of annoy me. Like the whole thing with Wayne's father. He told her about all of it back on their first 'real date' in Ep. 6, and his grandmother told her the whole thing about him dropping out of uni to take care of her back in Ep. 4; but by the time Ep. 8 came around and the dad showed up it was like Ka Yan just suddenly forgot everything and had no clue what was going on. o____O Like. WHUT. It's like the writers figured all the viewers were idiots and/or have the memory span of a goldfish.
foreverleila
To be honest, I loved everything out of the whole entire series except for two things: the number one thing is that Niki had to die in this series. I just can't believe it. I wrote two many other reasons for this fact in the other topics already, so I'm just saying here, the series would have been much much better if Niki didn't die. Secondly, I wouldn't really say I didn't like and I wouldn't say I really liked (I guess I'm in the middle for this one) the fact that it switches from Niki and Kevin to Bosco and Natalie. Like at times when the Niki and Kevin story is like so intense, it switches to Bosoc and Natalie. That sometimes drives me...
babiibluez
The plot was kind of ickky..not really well established.
I didn't feel the Niki and Kevin chemistry till towards the end, but then it kind of faded by the very end anyways.
The lighting is so annoying. Making it seem so unrealistic!
The whole added effects thing showing different angle parts of the scenes were also annoying..
AND adding in the speeches of that one guy speaking mandarin throught the series was pointless..and especially for those who don't even speak/understand mandarin!
sweetprincess
I thought this series was a mixture of several series that i liked put together. I thought it was really sweet how Niki and Kevin ended up together and had a child together but sad that Niki died. I also really like the story between Natalie and Bosco. I thought that both of them complemented each other really well.
StrawB3rryz
The way the series started was aggravating. When I saw how the scenes of the series fit like a photograph in a book with the boxes and outlines- I was thinking to myself, "Please don't tell me that they are going to be doing this throughout the whole serie". Really, I find how they fade the pictures out and make it seem like we are reading from a comic book just annoys me. And occassionally the mandarin speaking person would pipe in his voice and the drawings would show- and they would explain about how these two boys have completely different fates just turns me off from Seventh.

And the lighting, at first I thought there was something wrong with my tv. >.<. I really didn't like the lighting in UTCOL and I was banging my head when TVB used the same effect for Seventh. If the lighting is suppose to give off a dreamy effect- they should have just used it for Bosco and Natalie's scenes because the relationship between Kevin and Niki is suppose to be sad and pitiful- not dreamy.

Kevin and Niki's chemistry was quite fake to me and Natalie's character is just difficult to deal with. How she treated Bosco so horribly because she wanted to complete her book was upsetting. Also I didn't understand why, when Natalie was starting to develop feelings for Bosco, she couldn't create an ending for her book and still go out with Bosco. I mean, if she liked Bosco so much she would have just create some random ending and be okay with it.

Seventh was much of a disappointment to me but then TVB hasn't been giving me much satisfaction with its series nowadays.
sweetdreams
I think so too! The lighting kinda makes your feel like a sleepy atmostphere
novel_tieng
i dun really like the ending actually ... i dun wan her to die ... luckily they din do a sad ending ... when the ah jing wanna go kill herself and make ah yan pull her back seems fake ... when she talk ... gt no mist come out of her mouth
sunny-dayz
Natalie and Bosco's storyline was a VERY bad re-make of Hollywood's 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days'.

And the acting is predictably disappointing.
hlac
What I don't like the most was at the beginning how Kevin's quite mean to Nikki, he's such a big man and he never shows how much he really cares and loves her. Nikki does so much for him and he still yells at her for no reason.
demonsblood
I didn't want Niki to die weeping.gif she was a nice character and yet god still gave her such a bad fate!
daisi
The thing that irks me was the manderin narrator. He and his poetic narration was unnecessary and annoying.

I agree I hated the ending and I was expecting more than just Kevin n Bosoc just smiling at each other from the across the street...wasn't too satisfied with the ending. I found the storybook thing overused also, gave me a headache trying to watch whats going on inside those tiny square boxes

Exactly when I saw the scene Kevin stuck out his door I'm immediately think of A Moment to Remember, and also in his car have a lot of stuffs like the actor in A Moment to Remember too

But I'm actually like the light effect, I just don't like to see Niki die, or any leads characters die in any series T-T
karened
Yup I quite like the effect they had on the lighting. Lol my mom asked if the show was from very long ago because the image looked blur. But I think it's an attempt (maybe not that well accepted) to do somethig different from the usual drama series and to create the dreamy mood. But yes, I agree that for some scenes, that dreamy feel is not suitable. I felt that this look suits UTCOL better. As for the comic-type fade-out effects, it's very common in Jdoramas and such, very exaggerated, but I guess the HK drama audiences perhaps hasn't accepted it yet? I don't know. But I didn't really mind that. lol..long-term over-exposual to Jdoramas I guess haha..same thing for the lighting effect. Jdoramas sometimes use those lighting effects too.

i was waiting since may of 2007,
i was so happy when it came out this year
but at the same time, i was really disappointed

i didnt like how they switch from scene to scene,
and wanted to make everything connected when
it'd be better off unconnected relationships and less confusing

i didnt find bosco and natalie's love story captivating
so i was just waiting for the kevin and niki parts

i was watching a taiwanese at the same time
and seventh day just didnt stand out for me
comparison made seventh day very dull towards the end
coppertincan
It started off really interesting. But the answers never came out clearly. The way how they got together too early made it boring this time. And here, Kevin didn't really show he loved her until after the Selena bit. Most of the episodes was just Niki chasing Kevin. When there's sickness involve, the romantic feel, which was why most ppl were anticipating it, didn't work. And I still think that Kevin's acting could have been better. He was way better in UTCOL
MadHatter
i would say a lot of crying happened in the show which i wasn't a big fan of...

then there was that scene where Kevin was sitting in the car all cool when ka yan got robbed and he opened the door to stop the robbers...

that was a scene right out from a korean movie...
so it ended up being UN COOL...
