i'm only up to chapter 4 of this serie and i don't get y Flora is paired up with Damian

damien smuggled jade with niki's grandfather and kevin's dad in myanmar. later, kevin's dad was made a scapegoat... is this what u wanna know??

and then Kevin found out that Damien was being all nice to him when he was young and supporting him in the orphange all because he felt bad about making Kevin's father a scapegoat and letting him die when they were best friends.

yeah, it started out all cool about the jade and stuff..but it got kind iffy near the end when Damien was a totally different person..

and i hate how Damien's character afterwards..killing his wife...kidnapping the baby..

He is definately that. It goes to show that one doesn't have to be the best looking as long as he/she can interpret the character and that is personified on screen, then there will still be people who are more than willing to watch them.

yeah , Niki's character was good .. I didn't like the end of the series .. the beginning was good then middle was like okay then in the end started to mess up .. and it was pretty much rushed , I rather Damien&Flora die and let Niki&Kevin live happly ever after with good business and let them take care of Flora's daughter .. tho Flora's character was good in here if she die it will be a pity . But i prefer my thought of ending it that way better .

niki was hit by a truck, twice. she died after the second operation. she was chasing after damien who ran away with tung tung.

ahahahahahahahaha! he did become very freaky. Especially during the court scene when he looked freaky freaky. His evil eyes. aiiiiya!

this series really took a flip. The turning point changed so fast.. no one expected it to happen.

well, Maggie is pregnat with Stephen's baby, but Damien, being the evil person he is, tricks Stephen into getting caught by the China police because of smuggling drugs or something in the jades..
so in China, the rule is you die if you get caught, and Stephen dies..that leaves MAggie and the baby..

Kevin must be really sad about Niki's death, and was Flora sad about Damian's death? and who was Tung Tung?

yes, i suppose. tung tung is flora and damien's daughter, who is also niki's half sister.

it gave me shivers whenever flora was with damian. im like thinking DUDE!! HE COULD BE UR FATHER!!! cause if you think about it...if flora could be with kevin, it prob means flora is younger than kevin. but kevin ended up with niki, who is younger than kevin. so damian is like marrying a woman as old as his son-in-law.

i totally agree that the start was interesting. when damian falls from the building, it gets hella boring and freaky. i didn't even watch the ending... now im downloading it because i wanna see what happen!!

I just finished watching this series, and I really enjoyed it! Especially the scenes with Kevin and Niki. It was a pity that Niki died - it really pissed me off.

not a good series at all, because all the people is not matching. crazy story.

I truly dislike Damien's acting. His acting in this show was very horrible. Especially when he was trying to be "bad". It's such a pity that he was a main character in this show, and can't act good. On the contrary, Mary Ho had less involvement in the show but her acting really captured my attention. Especially when she was trying to act "crazy", I was actually frightened by her crazy actions, and emotions.

I also dislike Flora Chan's character in this show. I thought she didn't really had the chance to show her "acting".

I liked Niki Chow's character in this show. Her acting was very good. I felt so sorry for her that she could not control her future and just lye in the hospital bed to wait to die!. Sad

this series doesn't look that bad, i find the parts wif Michelle and Michael interesting about the fate thing... but i haven't exactly seen the whole series... btw... is Damian Lau considered a bad character in here?

i didm't think it was so bad. i personally liked the coincidence of it all. i didn't really like Flora with Damian though. They seem so much like father and daughter to me, but i guess thats how the story is supposed to go.

The beginning part was OK.I like the part with Kevin and Nikki. But the end had way too much drama.

This series is very good in my opinion. Although the starting was a little slow. I think it picked up and became quite interesting. My favourite characters are Kevin and Niki. I really hope Niki stars in more TVB series. She did a great job. I know she's been in movies but her performance was just great for a first.

On the contrary though, I believe that Damian's performance was good. I hated his guts by the end, and by that I know that he did a good job. His evil looks were good. I thought Flora did an alright job, but not too great. Kevin adn Niki did great jobs. But I think one of the best performances was Mary Hon's. She is one good crazy person!

I felt the ending was an injustice to Niki, but it would be too happy/crappy/unrealistic if she didn't die. So therefore, this ending was probably one of the better ones in recent TVB series. But I think there was a little too much killing...Even if it was good, Niki shouldn't have died...

To answer the question of ages. I do believe I found the ages of Niki and Kevin. Since Niki was born in the year of 1982 (same year that Kevin's dad's death), then she is about 22 or 23 ( This series seems to last a few years with all the time skips they have). And since Kevin was 4 years old in 1982 (His dad mentions this in the flashback), then he is about 26 or 27.

Whoooo...that was a lot of typing. Point is; this series is worth the watch and the boring start. For the boring start, just try to get engaged with the Jade pieces story. Then after that, it gets pretty good.

yea i think so. this show was rather boring at the beginning but it very much picked up in the middle. towards the end the show was very engaging.

I thought Hard Fate was a pretty decent series overall. There were defintely many twists and turns that were somewhat unexpected and unpredictable.Many people didn't like Hard Fate I'm guessing because of the intense drama; many just couldn't take or fully understand it I guess. As for the acting by the actors and actresses:

Damien - I really loved his portrayal of Leung Pak Yin towards the beginning, as I think he does a good job portraying the strong will/intelligent but suave, business men type roles. However I did buy the fact that he had an evil side and I thought he portrtayed it decently; not real well, but good enough.

Flora - Once again she as the character was alright in the beginning but I didn't quite like her character towards the end; a bit too much I guess and just not rational enough. Flora also presented us with a 'passable' performance and her crying seems like its not the same person or Flora I saw in her previous series where I really did pity her.

Kevin - As many have said, he did a spectacular job playing Leung Ka Ming and this could be what you would call Kevin's representative piece and finally a role he could shine in. His character, isn't hard to play, but the way Kevin presented it, it was just to another level. People felt him at many points and one could possibly even picture him as Leung Ka Ming and not Kevin Cheng trying to be Leung Ka Ming. I really did fall in love with this character and what makes it even better is this character is realistic enough that people can relate to; he isn't too perfect, but good enough. Not to forget his chemistry with Niki Chow was remarkable/very memorable and I would really love to see them as an on-screen couple again.

Niki - Though this was her first series, she also did a wonderful job. Like Kevin, I could really feel as though she were Ceci. Her expressions and attitude, IMO really brought out Ceci and I hope she can do more series in the future. She, like I said, has a lot of chemistry with Kevin Cheng and even though they were supporting actors/actresses, I really watched the series for them.

Lastly, something else that probably kept my attention was the storyline between Michelle and Michael Tong's characters. The cliffhangers they put would draw my attention to what had happened. I thought Michael and Michelle did a nice job especially with their crying scenes. Though they had little screen time together, one could definitely feel the sparks of chemistry between them as well.

i liked the first half of this series..it was all happy and joyful, until the 'twist'..when Damian went crazy, i though it was all wack. it got really draggy towards the end..why did thye kill niki..?? but considering the accident was so brutal, who could have survived..anyways, i liked the ending..

Too bad that towards the end of the series, it gets a bit draggy when Damien went cuckoo a little bit. It was unbearable to see my idol at the start turned into a paranoid husband in the end. But I understand his feelings. All he wants is just his family besides him. Sigh.

Btw, the funniest part to me in this series is when Flora and Damien got together. She planned to tell her father in the restaurant, so Damien fetched her father in his car and the whole conversation made me laughed like mad, lol!
The father didn't know Damien is Flora's new bf and he kept on talking about the whole thing without realising and ended up in the restaurant feeling so awkward when he found out later, hehehehehe....

just finished watching this series last night. In my opinion, this series was really good . I like all characters in the series. I agree that Damien is too old for Flora, but when they paired together, i felt so happy for them ' . Yeah, as some1 said before, when they're together, I kept thinking "Hic, he's sane age with your dad". The funniest part that I found in that series is that first Flora called Damien "uncle", then they turned to couple and got married . It's so funny. However, I like Flora and Kevin together than Kevin and Niki, although they are good couple . Did you remember that whenever Flora and Kevin were together, they had a lot of fun and happy ? Anyway, it's what story about.
I think the best performer in this series is Damien because he changed from a good guy to a freaky, evil one . As I saw, most of people here don't like his character (hehehe). That means he performed was real and good.
It's so pity when both Damien and Niki died . I like a happy ending that Flora and Damien went to somewhere and started their new life. Kevin and Niki would be together and took care Niki's father (Damien) business. Anyway, it's only my opinion .
I will rewatch this series again. Hopefully I can watch it tonight 'cause i have exam tomorrow. Anyway, I vote for this series 30 points.

For once TVB had a proper ending.. it was ok.. but the story got so twisted... and I thought there would be a special ending with the jade thingy... the jade is a curse no matter how the drama tried to make it like a lucky charm or something

I dont think the ending is good...so many ppl died for no reason. By the way, I dont really get it..the connection of the jade to the story is not very related. Can someone explain how the jade relates to the storyline?
