I don't think it has ever occured in a TVB series where the female leads don't know each other or even have a single scene together. Although Kevin and Bosco's character worked at the same place later on, they didn't have many scenes/interactions unlike other series in which the male leads are either friends, siblings etc. It is as if one is watching two different series in...one series.

The theme video is different as well. The way they introduced the cast with their names appearing onscreen and the fact that it only showed the four main characters are not how a traditional theme video of TVB looks like.
While watching this I can't help but notice that there are many kissing scenes, especially between Kevin and Niki. In most TVB series, even modern ones, the main leads would share one or two kisses at most as asians are more conservative. But in 'The Seventh Day' the amount of kissing scenes probably exceeded 10.

I think it was because Kevin had his own group of friends and Bosco had his own group of friends... Yeah your right about the themevideo and about the kissing but it was cute though

Well, maybe they want to start something new, but I have to agree I thought it was a little weird how Niki never knew Natalie.

I actually like it that they aren't really close buddies....
It's actually pretty realistic, the fact that Sasa knows about Yan's illness and still asked Jade about how things are going with her... it's common for friends/colleagues to share about their life and family stuff, but not necessarily meeting and being close to your colleague's family members.

Yes, yes! definitely. That's what I've been saying all along. It's not a typical TVB storyline, therefore, I find that it's fresh and good =)) Although the main characters aren't all connected that much, it's still pretty realistic like others have said. That's why freaking audience should open their minds and watch the show on TV. STILL so disappointed at the ratings. But at least the finale ratings were okay!

it's a pretty fresh idea, i agree, I always thought it was kind of funny when in most other series, two best friends always hook up with two best friends, or 2 brothers hook up w/ 2 sisters, like people are always interconnected in some way... but i guess that's just a way they can make it easier to film and link the story together, cuz if you have more than 2 couples that are not 'linked' then things will start to get very complicated and confusing!
I like this though, it's new and refreshing!

Yea, I definitely like this set-up, how there's like two plots happening at the same time, tied together by certain encounters, and the drawer of the story. I personally like how although it gets sad with Yan and Wing, you can look forward to Sasa and Don because it's a lighter, funnier plot with them. But yea, it's realistic like you guys mentioned earlier

I absolutely agree with you! It was really nice to watch two different circle of friends without the oh-what-a-happy-family-we-all-are. And I absolutely adore the kissing scenes between Niki and Kevin! I wonder has that sparked off any more chemistry that they already have?
TVB did well in the themevideo in that no spoiler was included. Only the four of them and the beautiful scenery. Guess they wanted to make up for the huge spoiler in OFTB.

How the plot reminds me of Love Actually, where certain characters were somehow connected and in the end, they meet up.
But TSD was definitely different from previous TVB series where the focus was on romance. No doubt it's the most romantic series TVB's ever produced.

Well my mum told me that (maybe) Niki and Kevin have a real relationship offscreen and had actually requested for more kissing scenes in the series, which is why we see so many. Or that's what the tabloid mags have been saying anyway. I like it more though, because it's much more realistic than in relationship where the only times they'll kiss is their first time and when they get married, which is borringgggg.
As for the theme, i loveee the way the characters are introduced with their english names. it's definitely a different feel, tvb should opt to do that a little more often.

Wow, I didn't even realize that Yan and Sasa didn't know each other.

I guess TVB want to look more professional and attract the oversea viewers?
TVB seems to have done a lot of new things in this series. Did they ever have a series where the leads marry and series is still progressing and talking about their relationship?

^They do show marriage life for some couples if the series is a grand production (Triumph in the Skies, Secret of the Heart, Cold Blood Warm Heart, Heart of Greed, etc).
I loved the kissing scenes too! It was really naturally for Kevin and Niki =P

Yes, this series is definitely different from other TVB series. I thought the idea was kinda clever at first where they show two parallel stories at the same time and how their lives intertwin somehow... But as the series progress I got kinda annoyed with the two stories bc i felt i was watching two series.. and the series did not flow well.. I didn't like how they jump around esp during a dramatic series..they had to jump to the other storyline.. it totally kills the mood.. i actually like series where everyone lives are intertwin.. bc u get to see how everyone connects and u get to see them on screen more often . I felt like there weren't enough Niki and Kevin scenes.. not like in UTCOL..
On the flip side..i love the kissing scene between kevin and niki..they are sooo SWEET and sooo natural.. now that is how a couple is supposed to act in real life.. hugging and kissing.. and not just fake kiss by pushing lips together..

I LOVE this series! I love how it's so different and the music is just beautiful
I think it's fresh that the it's an actual love story between 2 couples that don't know each other and it's just....a good story. Plus the credits were just cool

I was kinda hoping that Niki and Natalie character would eventually meet up but it was ok that they didn't since their characters story didn't relate. And I liked that this series was different from the other TVB series.

my 1st tvb series that has such great scenary ( i think)! unlike the other tvb series i've watched so far, the chemistry between KN is stronger and makes me really crazy about the show unlike other shows that don't leave a mark in my heart...

i think it is typical of the olden day series from tvb, where everything is too cliche lol. But i miss those series, endings where always defined where as now ur left half hanging. l

I was expecting this to be a sequence of Under the canopy of love but surprising it was not and it is refreshing to see how the story developed where the two leads share the same birthday but leading a different live.
And there is alot of cute interaction between Kevin and Nikki too.

Either this is non-traditional TVB style, I really really enjoy this story. It gives us two separate stories that could happen from two different perspectives, yet there are so many similarities. Things like how the both heroines met both hero on the dock and how both hero born on the same day, same year from totally different background. The way the make themselves in the society (very TVB theme) and how they approach love. Let just say TVB did not disappointment at all.
