Koni Lui (born September 3rd, 1983) also known as Koni Lui Wai Yee is a model and 2nd runner up at the Miss Hong Kong 2006 pageant. She represented Hong Kong at Miss International 2006 in Tokyo, Japan and Beijing, China. She received 2 awards, Most Beautiful Smile and the Miss Friendship award. She continued the friendly streak as Hong Kong has won four Miss Friendship titles (1981, 2002, 2004, and 2005). With her win, Hong Kong is tied with Japan as the only nation at Miss International to win more than 4 Miss Friendships and at any international pageant.

Prior to Miss Hong Kong 2006, Koni Lui had also competed in the 2001 Elite Look of the Year HK contest, finishing 2nd and winning the Photogenic prize (Miss Hong Kong 2005 Tracy Ip was in the competition too but failed to win anything).

TVB new series "Catch Me Now", yesterday held its promotional event, the cast from the series intended includes: Damien Lau, Joe Ma, Fala Chen, Aimee Chan and Koni Lui. Female Lead Idy Chan was unable to attend because she's in Canada. At the event, clips of Siu Long Lui's (Idy) past perfomances were boardcast. Yesterday the cast split into two teams of 'soldiers-theives', they acted out a scene of the jewelry disappearance, Koni who was in a bikini successfully stole the spotlight.

Damien Hopes for Good Ratings
Damien expresses that Idy was unable to attend the promotion, which is too bad, but earlier they contacted each other on the phone, she taught him how to promote. Damien hopes that the ratings could be as good as "D.I.E", if the ratings are good, he would celebrate with Idy Chan. Koni Lui was asked about her stealing the spotlight, she said that she doesn't feel so because she's a newcomer, and yesterday her outfit was just the costume for the series. She said that the first time filming a series, the most memorable scene was when she had to model in the busy market street, at the time there were many people surrounding, she felt really embarrassed.

Fala Denies That she's fighting against herself
As for Fala Chen, her series "A Journey Called Life" already aired more than half of its episodes, "Catch" will replace "Journey" causing her to be fighting against herself but Fala does not agree because the two characters are very different. Shirley Yeung invited to film Super Trio Supreme Special and will not compete with Koni Lui in sex appeal

Shirley Yeung, Koni Lui, Vivien Yeo etc went to Kuala Lumpur with Eric Tsang yesterday to film "Special Version of Super Trio Supreme". The guests also include ex TVB actress Angie Cheung Wai Yee who has been working in Beijing during the last year. TVB's New Series "Catch Me Now" although male and female lead Damien Lau and Idy Chan were unable to attend the promotional event, but did not ruin the ratings for last week, last week's highest rating was 36 points. Yesterday the few cast members including Joe Ma, Koni Lui, Aimee Chan, Johnson Lee, Evergreen Mak and etc were present for a celebration party. The behind the scenes crew and workers were also invited to eat and celebrate. The two main leads who has been absent Damien and Idy were responsible for getting the gifts and awards for everyone. Matthew Ko, Stephen Huynh, Benjamin Yuen and Koni Lui attended the Mr Hong Kong 2008 promotional media event at a shopping mall yesterday to encourage the public to apply. Also they asked the passer-by’s to donate money for the Sichuan earthquake relief appeal. Koni claimed that she saw her friend who’s a male model at the shopping mall and encouraged him to apply giving him an application form. When asked whether she encouraged her rumoured model boyfriend to apply? Koni smiles “ I have asked all my friends to apply”. (Have they applied yet?) “I’m not sure”. Asked whether she can accept her friend wearing swim trunk’s on stage? “ That’s abit early to comment, most important is that they have sent back the form first”.

Recently one of the new Miss Hong Kong contestants 3. Edelweiss Cheung Shu Nga had a lot of negative gossip news such as being reported smoking and clubbing a lot, giving a bad girl impression. Koni replies “ It’s like that every year, I had negative news about having plastic surgery”.
Matthew Ko states that this year the contest will allow oversea contestants to apply and he will encourage his friends to apply. Stephen Huynh also claimed that one of his handsome male fan’s asked him for advice as he is going to apply.

Matthew has been considered for being the most outstanding Mr Hong Kong winner in the industry. He says “ Probably because I’m the first season’s winner and it also depends on timing. Perhaps this years and next will be better”. Asked if Matthew will continue to promote Mr Hong Kong in 10 years times? “I used to work in an electrical store selling computers. When I won the title of Mr Hong Kong I thought I was on top of the world and everything fame, money etc would be over night. However I know I was childish back then and now I know things don’t come for free. You have to work hard to earn those things.
Stephen Huynh confirms that he will not ask his Older brother to apply because he is senior manager for an company that can help him find work.

Koni's fame has risen alot since 'Catch Me Now' and has gotten many praises from people. I think she has potential to become one of the new siu fas if TVB can open their eyes and promote her that is. I hope to see her more in the future and I believe it would be an encouragement for her if she can make it to the nomination list(s) at TVB's award ceremony.

She was really great in Catch Me Now, especially the crying scene. She interacted really well with her thief team.

Koni Lui’s Cosplay Devil Look steals the limelight

Tracey Ip and Koni Lui appeared at “Xbox 360 Ninja Gaiden 2” promotional event yesterday. Both actresses were dressed as characters in the game. Koni Lui’s costume was low cut while Tracey’s costume revealed her back. Koni expresses that this is her first time playing a Devil at Cosplay. She often play’s games with brother who is a form 7 student. She states that playing games can ease pressure. (Will you play games with your boyfriend?) Koni constantly laughs but does not respond. But she confirms that the guy who was pictured taking her home was not her boyfriend. She also felt quite awkward. (Perhaps the guy can become your boyfriend after a few more times taking you home? ) “ It’s not the right timing”.

Koni states that she really liked her costume and although it had sex appeal she had already done safety precautions in case of revealing.
She complimented Tracey’s dress and that she looked more sexy than her. ( Will this costume be less appealing compared with the swimwear show?) “Not at all, Today I am pretending to be someone else but usually when I work I have no requirement’s. As long as the outfit is beautiful then it’s okay”. (How about taking nude pictures for arts?) “I can’t do that, plus I have never considered taking nude pictures. It would be over my own limits and I may have a lot of fear in the future. But if my work requires me to give sex appeal then I will try my best to do that”.

Tracey Ip also complimented Koni for being very appealing. She considers that Koni has a great figure and to stand out from the crowd is normal. She explained that recently she had been busy filming 2 drama series. Soon she will also be a hosting on Chua Lam’s ( 蔡瀾 ) food and drink show. Last night Steven held a 5-table hotpot banquet for the cast and crew of “Dogs on the beat”. The attendees included Kent Cheng and his wife, Amy, Linda Chung, Natalie Tong, Koni Lui and Queenie Chu. The guests were requested to bring along a present under HK$50 for a gift exchange. Steven said that this invitation, like all his previous ones, was open to all.

“I don’t mind picking up the tab. What’s important is that they gave me face by attending and that they had a good time together. It’s not easy to have everyone get together for a dinner. Also, our team have worked really well together.”

He also revealed that the night before was Kent’s wife’s birthday, so they took the opportunity to celebrate her birthday.

Steven continued: “My relationship with Kent is like that of a godfather and godson. I often had dinners at his house so I know Amy quite well too."

Asked Amy what her birthday wish was, she said: “Right now, we’re having a happy dinner. Last night, my family and I had a birthday dinner.”

Koni Lui recently went to the Philippines to shoot a travel documentary. She only had 2 days to shoot the footage and had a tight schedule. The filming started from morning till night and she was very tired. One day she went to a Massage parlour to shoot a spa scene. At first, Koni thought she was able to relax and enjoy the spa but unexpectedly it was the opposite. Koni explained "While shooting the scene there were a lot of male staff around and I felt embarrassed. It was not enjoyable. At first they arranged a male therapist but I immediately requested a female instead. After 2 hours of shooting, I was more tired than before."

It was the first time Koni had visited the Philippines. At first she initially thought she wouldn't enjoy the food there because she had tried family dishes made by a Filipino worker and felt the taste very far from satisfactory. But after tasting the food officially in the Philippines Koni had a different view. She said "The Filipino dishes are actually very tasty. The seafood dishes taste the best and are very unique." Due to having a busy shooting schedule she didn't have time to go shopping. Before heading back to Hong Kong she took the last chance to go to a supermarket and bought about 10 packs of Dried mango. The shop assistant was even surprised seeing Koni hold so many packs at once.
