I was just browsing through the Critics Hangout.
And I didn't see a thread about Big Bang...
So I was just wondering if anyone dislike/hate them?
Because I don't think they have a lot of haters.

Anyways, I love Big Bang!
I only started getting into them like a month ago...
But, I already know most of their songs.
I think they're really good singers & dancers.
And they have a great fashion sense, lol.
Not to mention every single one of them is SO HOT!
They're mad talented for their age, which ranges from 17-20.

I agree with you, I love Big Bang, lol (kinda obvious from my signature).

I really like how they stay away from the mainstream pop songs and go for the more Omarion/rap type of music. Their songs Lies and Last Farewell are what really made my like them. And it doesn't hurt that they're all pretty hot (especially TOP. Even his name rhymes with "hot". Kinda)

And their sense of style is amazing too.

lol I don't think anyone can hate Big Bang. They can sing, they can rap, they can dance. While most of the popular bands their generation (err...which is this one lol) is doing something more poppish, they are doing rap/rnb and the newest stuff is mixed with a little bit of the trance genre.

Most importantly, the fans aren't batshit crazy.

There's not much to hate about Big Bang or any YG artists. They are one of the most original entertainment group I know in the Korean entertainment industry. Before Yang Hyun Suk let anyone debut under YG he wants them to have character and have their own individualality. That's why Big Bang is such a success. Yang Hyun Suk used to be in Seo Taiji & Boys so he pretty much knows what he's doing with his artists. And he's doing something right with most of his artists under YG Ent.

I must be really outdated because I don't listen to their songs. Of ALL Korean groups I think they are the only group whose songs I don't listen to. I feel so bad! I don't know why; maybe I should check out their songs some time.

So I could only talk about their appearance? I think sometimes their fashion is too hip-hopish? Especially Tae Yang's and T.O.P.'s. I guess hip-hop style doesn't attract me that much.

For some reason, I am not really fond of T.O.P.'s expression... he has this really bad boy look...

It's okay, that's just the way he dresses. It doesn't really mean he is a bad boy. If you get to know these boys you'll know they are a bunch of dorks. Which is almost the opposite of bad boys. The bad boy image/hip hop look is just their style. Don't worry, they are completely dorks.

why would anyone hate Big Bang? i mean Big Bang consists of 5 good-looking and talented hot guys so i think there are no reasons to hate them.

Their appearance might seem to put some people off but really they are really nice and just dorky sometimes. Lol
And TOP, he's actually really nice, he always takes account of his other members. Like when he was on Manwon Happiness sopmeone gave him food and even though he would be hungry he went to share it with his other members.

HAHA! i totally agree with youu! At first, I didn't find them attractive...but once i watched other videos of them, they are DORKS! Never fail to make me laugh (: haha! They just grew on me! & yeah their songs are awesomee! Especially "Lies" <3

I just dont get why some fans are not happy with them when they're supposed to be their fans. I am one too but I support them with whatever they do.
I've heard stories just recently about how they're all doing their own thing and not together as Big Bang but I think it's a good thing because they get to see how they are without the other members, that sounds kinda bad now because they could be seen as better but anyway, it'll be good for them to try out new things because I read that Youngbae actually wanted to be an actor but he still hasnt the chance to do that yet.
And I just read in Big Bang's thread thanks to just_ella that they were complaining that GD was too close to Seungri creating rumours that they're gay and then he wasnt as close and then they started complaining that they wasnt close enough, lol.
I dont wanna criticise the fans because I am one too but I think others should support them in whatever they do like the rest

Not a huge fan, but I am a fan. However, sometimes, they make me cringe the way the dress because it's just too "gangsta", which isn't exactly what I'm into. I love Lies and I do find Seungri and G-dragon to be extremely cute, but other than that, I'm don't care for them that much.

hah! that was what im thinking. fans who ought to support is not giving them enough encouragement. I think the fans are just trying to tell YG to let ibgbang have more grp activities.
Again, is not like Bigbang gonna disband any sooner, since they debuted not very long ago, and their helping YG to earn big bucks.

Well, when i started to learn about the korean industry. I din really bother about bigbang, since i was so into tvxq and sj. Furthermore, when i first listen to their music, i wasnt really use to it. and their sense of style was too colorful

just 2 weeks ago. i was really curious about bigbang since my friend was all over them. I listened to "Lies" and immediately fell in love with that song. So i continue watching their various clips, and without knowing much, im liking them even more then i ever expected. And i realise i got use to their music and dressing style. It isnt that bad afterall

These boys can rap for nuts, they can compose esp. Leader kwon. They can dance. And they can speak english that i understand

When i watched BB documentary, i've seen how they trained before they debut, each and everyone put in so much hard work and perspiration to be able to debut as a grp. Their passion for music can be seen clearly.

But i know, there are people out there who dont really fancy bigbang.

Yeah, when G-Dragon dropped his Only Look At Me Part 2, some fans went crazy. They even wanted to protest in front of YG, saying Big Bang is gonna disband and they want more group activities. Those fans should calm down because there's no way Big Bang is gonna disband soon. Look at how popular they are. YG would be crazy to let Big Bang disband because that's like a bazillion dollars down the drain. Besides, Big Bang JUST finished their Global Warning tour and they're releasing another mini album in August. How can the fans say they're not a group?

And why would anyone complain about G-Dragon being close to Seungri? G-RI IS TOTALLY LOVE. I complain when they aren't close together, LOL.

They did compare SHINee and Big Bang's MVs. They had kinda similar background in their dancing part of the song and then parts where they're playing basketball and running around after the girl in the MV. But I dont know about the necklace or muffler.

woo! I <333 Taeyang. His voice (and abs! lol) are to DIE FOR. Well, sorta. It could be a little stronger in his lives, but DANG boy... he puts his all into his dancing (so crisp and isolated!) that I can't blame him for it. Never a move wrong, lemme tell you. He's so dark too...! ^.^

I'm sure someone out there doesn't like Big Bang. I was a little turned off by them because of their style of music and dress (and I don't know that much about BB, but do they really pick their clothes? Cause I know all about coordi noonas and I know that SJ/DBSK uses them...) cause... well, I'm sorry, but I'm not really into the whole "gangsta" style and it irritates me even more that they're 'exploiting' it simple because it's "new and fresh" in Korea. Still does, actually, but I'm always more into the music anyways. But still... yeah, I don't like a few things about Big Bang, but as a whole, I think they're pretty cool. I just don't like that whole gangsta style of dressing. It's one thing to use the "hardcore" image for a bit, it's another thing to make it your signature. It just gives off bad connotations to me (I'm so American; we're used to our 'gangstas' rapping about ho's and coke and angel dust and horse/tar and X, and sex sex sex and... oh right, more sex). It's a bit disconcerting to see guys dressed like that rapping about something as wholesome as ...love. LOL. And I also also also also dislike the liberal usage of rap that a lot of producers like to sprinkle into the middle of their songs. If it suits the song, cool, but if it doesn't... it's like they're just throwing it in there to give the weaker vocalists something to do and call them the "rappers." Ick. For all things that American music has done wrong, I find it refreshing that we've never resorted to that (and this isn't about BB, it's with other groups too).

Well Big Bang isn't original because their style is very american so not like they were the first but I guess in Korea, there's not really another band like them...excpet maybe like 1tym? But they are not existing anymore.

And on that note, I do feel like ShinEe isn't really copying their style since it's not unique to Big Bang or anything but I think SM produced them in a similar style to Big Bang to go against them, sinc epreviously Big Bang provided a niche not really touched yet in Kpop.

^Oh, It does sound very familiar, like in the beginning but once Lies progressed to the chorus the rest doesn't sound alike.

Funny thing is can you tell me if there is any group original at all?? Seriously there is no such group that we can call original anymore. Everyone copies off each other now. If you look closely the American industry copy the Asian industry with the horror movies now. Maybe BB coppied the whole hip hop and RnB scene but they put some of their own originallity into it still.

As for 1Tym YG himself have comfirmed that they did not disband yet and are still going to release a album soon. 1Tym only left the music scene temporary due to mandatory millitary service that a member had to do.

And BB fans who claim to be fans but are upset over the member solo work shouldn't be calling themself fans. The solo work is only to help each member out and it let them find themself. At the end it only make BB stronger as a group.

gah..i watched their Tell Me&Lies performance with WonderGirls..
i was so amazed to it and then it started..
until now im addicted to lies&haruharu..

i appreciated hiphop,rnb&rap because of them 'cause i really hate those genres XD

their fashion style is great though sometimes i don't like their bulky shoes haha!!

Ok---------------I´ve listened to some of their new songs----------ts, ts.....I had some high hopes here.



The good things first:


- I liked the Intro quite a bit (very much in fact!). Seriously, TOP has it, he sure as hell does (and it´s one of the few songs he raps more than one sentence...)

- Alot of the songs had a nice catchy beat.


.....and sadly, that´s all I can come up with right now.



The bad things:

- Doesn´t seem like themselves. The style doesn´t fit them.

- Most of the lyrics were too cheesy for me. Not to mention unoriginal.

- I didn´t like that they sound so much like a "boyband" right now (of course they had their moments, even before now....but listening to this new album somehow brings back really bad memories----BSB, N'SYNC)

So- all in all not a very nice first impression. And this time I doubt that my opinion will change much. To make it short---this simply doesn´t sound like BIG BANG at all.

I don´t know about you, but to me it seems like their english albums always come out worse than the korean ones. Which is understandable, of course!
I mean, I can´t imagine that it´s alot of fun to record a whole album in a language most of the boys arn´t fluent in.

Not to mention that alot of other people wrote the songs this time around.



Next time, they should try and stay true to their original style- if possible.


(And if they really want to sing/rap in English, they should at least wait til their pronunciation gets better.)

it's sorta like their old songs never seem old to me. i mean, i never get tired of them.

Wow, what are you talking about, LOL? How is their music lame now? It's just a different style. They're growing up & maturing. So is their music. Although, I prefer their old hiphop and R&B styles, their new style is still legit. And their songs now are NOT about money & girls. The message behind Sunset Glow is to help clean up the oil spill in Korea. What's a better message you can give?

Ditto. I used to like the majority of their songs in each album, now I'm only liking 2 or 3 per album.
But hey, if their music/music videos is doing something good like promoting the cleaning of the oil spill like oh`retro said, I'm all for it.

but at the time,im just a so-so fan but after Taeyoung's "only look at me", im starting to find out more about this group.and then Haru Haru came out so,starting that point,i never get tired of their songs <3

Well everyone has their OWN taste in music so thats why ppl like certain songs and hate certain songs. So if people are like hooked one of BB's song, then thats their type of song preference. you cant really judge on what they have deceided because everyone's music taste is different. I mean i like heaps, i like K-pop because of BB but that doesnt mean i like other Korean band's songs who also sing K-Pop. It kind of depends on other factors, like voices and whether or not i think the beat etc is good.

I was hooked onto BB when i heard the song Haru Haru. Boy was that i good hit from them. They have other songs that i sort of like as well, i havent even listened to Lies- i know i am a bad fan. It's like one of their songs which gave them their popularity. <3 Sunset Glow was good and the mv was partly funny with the buses. But BB's style of music is pretty good to ME.

i absolutely love this band, my fav korean band, love all their music and i love how they sing in english cause they KNOW english, not like some self aclaimed "world stars" *cough* RAIN...

^ Big Bang aren't that fluent in English, and they sing in English because they want to reach out to an international audience. You can clearly hear they have an accent when they pronounce, even when they are singing.

^ I find Big Bang's English to be really legit.
I can barely hear the accent.
And they definitely speak/pronounce better English than most stars in Korea.
Even better than people who have lived in America such as Kibum, Micky, etc.
Aimee Lucas, Big Bang's American back up dancer said GD, Taeyang & Seungri all have really good English.

I don't know about spoken English, but in their songs, GD, TOP, and Taeyang have pretty good pronunciation. Seungri isn't too horrible and I would say Seungri has the worst, but his pronunciation isn't anywhere near unbearable as some other Kpop artists that attempt to sing in English.

Either way, GD has tattoos in English, and they all tend to be correct. Credit it to his thorough research or double-checking with people that actually speak English, but at least they make sense (unlike Kangin...).

I used to really like their music and the group.

Don't feel their music anymore and kind of lost interest in the group.

LOVED Tae Yang's solo project though. I secretly want him to be a solo artist forever, but it's not gonna happen.

Big Bang is one of the rare boy-bands that actually have of talent. They sing, dance, rap and compose...oh not to mention that they have one of the most unique fashion in the industry and heir songs are really good, I just love Haru Haru.

I think, and correct if I'm wrong, a lot of their fans actually like them for their music. I know this because was one of them.

The first time I've heard of Big Bang was when they appeared on We Got Married. I didn't even know why everyone was going on and on about how 'hot' TOP and Tae Yang was, I just kept on looking at that clip, and still...nothing. I mean, okay yes Tae Yang had his huge biceps and all but I still didn't know why everyone was gushing over them. Then one day, I search for Big Bang on Limewire, download the first song that came up-Haru Haru- listened to it once and fell in love with TOP's voice.

The rest as they say is history.

Why I'm telling you guys this, I have no idea. But yeah, Big Bang is cool....that was lame...I'll stop talking now.....Bye?
