Yeah I agree since rarely anyone looks beautiful without makeup. The first time I saw her pictures when she has no make up on, I was shocked because her face was so pale and eye bags were so noticeable. She looked like she was sick or just left the hospital or something but it is just funny how people consider her sick face as being pretty or whatever. We all think differently so I think it is fine if some of us think she is pretty all the time, while some don't. I know I would stop and stare at SHG when I see her with a lot of makeup to enhance her features but I would not notice her a lot if she has on no make up and displays a sick looking face. Do not get me wrong as SHG is absolutely beautiful WITH makeup that is, without makeup, there is really nothing appealing about her appearance.

i don't believe anyone here will say she isn't beautiful.....without makeup.. she's even prettier than those others who wear to much makeup!!!
Of course you have seen Endless Love 1 (Gah Eul Dong hwa),please notice that in some of her scenes there,she DOESN'T WEAR MAKEUP!!! Please check out her high school pics or whatever images of her that were taken before she became an actress. And if you're still aren't satisfied,I'm sorry but it's not her problem and definitely not her obigation to look beautiful in front of you WITHOUT MAKEUP!! Song Hye-gyo Enters the Silver Screen At Last-

Song Hye-gyo enjoys the height of her celebrity status through TV dramas such as “All in,” “Sunshine,” and “Full House.” Song had been rejecting plenty of proposals by movie producers until she finally chose “High Sea Warning (director: Jeon Yoon-su)” as her first project in film. It’s her first motion picture after 10 years of career in TV. The movie is a remake of the Japanese film “Shouting love in the middle of the world (Sekai no chushin de, ai wo sakebu).” It is a romantic tale of teenagers’ first love and their heartfelt breakup taking place on the seaside. Song gave an interview on December 6.

“High Sea Warning” is to open on December 22.

-You have luscious lips.

“My mom hated how my lips looked when I was a kid. She thought my lips looked like they belonged to ‘Kunta Kinte.’ She would make me go like this (pulls her lips in) during photo shoots, otherwise I looked cheap (laughs). Then I started doing a lot of makeup modeling, and they later told me the lipsticks I wore in my shows sold a lot.

People told me that my lips are pretty, and I started to believe them, and my mom doesn’t say a word about my lips anymore.”

-What made you decide to do a movie now, 10 years after your debut?

“I’ve gotten some good response from ‘An autumn’s tale’ and received many screenplays. But I wasn’t old enough to know what love felt like. I didn’t want to mimic being in love when I didn’t know what it’s like. Now is the time.”

-Did it have something to do with the relationship and the separation (with actor Lee Byung-heon) you’ve experienced recently?

“I learned what it’s like to be in love and the pain it involved through the experience of a very big love. As painful and sad that experience was, I am now thankful that I had experienced it. Not many actors at my age get to have a memory of such feeling. So as an actor, it a good thing, but on a personal level, it hurts.”

-How difficult is it to act for a movie compared to TV shows?

“My facial features are not so subtle. A little facial movement appears as though I am overreacting. I had to restrain my facial expressions and gestures.”

-The director said you had “the look of first love.”

“I don’t know. Women like me more than men do. Most my fans are women.”

-Because you are not coy.

“I am coy when I need to be, but usually I’m down to earth. Cha Tae-hyun asked me to become his sidekick (laugh).

-Are you evil at all?

“People tell me I should try a psychotic role. It could be surprisingly well-suiting. Like ‘Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.’ I am not a calculating type, but nowadays I find myself always calculating my takes of things. I wasn’t like that a few years ago. I am worried that I might be going bad.

Actress Would Rather be Mysterious Than Cute-

-Are you cute or pretty; stuck-up or sexy?

“People still think I’m cute. But I wish to hear people say that I am mysterious. ‘She has a mysterious side,’ this kind of feeling.”

-A photographer once said, “She is not tall but exquisitely proportioned.”

“That means I’m short but have rather long legs (laughs).”

-You’ve been coupled up with the top male stars in your shows.

“Song Seung-heon is a warm-hearted actor. Won Bin is shy, and I didn’t get to know him too well, but he’s a very nice guy. I like Won Bin in ‘An autumn’s tale.’ He only knows one woman and gives everything to that woman. Ryu Seung-beom is a talented actor, but he has too many colors, so it’s hard to pinpoint his personality (laughs). Jung Ji-hun (singer Rain) is a hard worker. Lee Byung-heon is basically great in acting... a perfect actor?

-You will partner up with Cha Tae-hyun in the movie; who has more to lose?

“(laughs) Tae-hyun and I are alike in the way of letting our acting partners shine as we ourselves thrive.”

-Do you kiss each other in the movie?

“Something in between a kiss and a peck on the lips (laughs).”

You need to calm down now because some people were just stating their opinions about how she looked without makeup but that does not mean they do not still like SHG. It is fine if you think she is beautiful but you should not be mad at others if they happen to disagree with what you think. Oh and check Shin Min Ah's thread if you want to see a natural beauty because Shin Min Ah looks absolutely pretty even when she is not wearing any makeup. I would not say the same goes for SHG but SHG is stunning with makeup on that is. I agree with you that SHG has no obligation to look pretty without makeup but some of us here have no obligations either to pretend and say that she looks gorgeous without makeup to make fans like you happy. Just chill out ok and let's all agree on that she is beautiful with makeup.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder so with that said in mind, i went and checked out shin min ah's thread and i have to disagree that sma look pretty without makeup. i would say that if sma 'looks absolutely pretty' without make up then shk is absolutely stunning without make up. i think shk also have one of the best complexion. my 2cents.

Before going to see Song Hye-gyo??s first film ??My Girl and I?? released Thursday, I wondered why she decided to go for the big screen. After I watched the film, another question came to my mind: even after leaving TV behind, why did she revisit familiar ground in the role of a girl in love for the first time, a choice that may well put more demanding viewers off.
??I??m well aware of my limitations,?? Song starts. ??That??s why I wanted to make a getaway with something I??m well versed in. Frankly, my role requires no particular acting skill. But because I??m a newcomer to the big screen, I didn??t want to act poorly in my new career.?? It is rare to hear a young actress in her early 20s to assess herself so critically.

The film is based on the hit novel ??Crying Out Love in the Center of the World??, which sold more than 2.5 million copies in Japan. A sad love story of a boy and a girl in ninth grade in Japan was transformed into sweet puppy love between two eleventh graders in a coastal village on the southern Korean island of Geoje. Song stars as Soo-eun, a top student who is pretty and kind as well as brainy. The plot, where the heroine dies of an incurable disease, is the same as in the original Japanese version, but Song appears more lively and cheerful. The part is very much a patchwork of Eun-suh in 2000??s ??Autumn Fairy Tale??, Su-yeon in ??All In?? of 2003 and Ji-eun in last year??s ??Full House??: to call the role ??something I??m well versed in?? is about right.

By the time we were finishing our coffee, the outspoken actress again outpaced my expectations. ??I was sick and tired of my roles. To be frank, I played much the same roles until I was cast as Su-yeon in ??All In??. I was really bored, not to mention the audience. I had a slightly different part in ??Sunshine of Love?? in 2004, but I concluded that my characters on TV will ultimately all be the same.??
So she decided to move on. Peers such as Kim Tae-hee, Son Ye-jin and Jeon Ji-hyun, who have had longer movie careers, played a part in her decision. This year, she carried dozens of screenplays on holiday. But between a desire for career change and a keen sense of her own range, she opted for ??My Girl and I.??

Asked if the film community is prejudiced against TV actresses, she says, ??I can??t please everyone.?? Told she is beautiful, she replies, ??I want to be an actress who can lose herself in her roles without caring how she looks.?? She elaborates, ??I am no standard beauty. I was most flattered to hear that I??m an actress who has many different faces depending on the makeup.??

The 24-year old starlet??s film career has just begun. Now she has made the jump, we are bound to see her change and mature in her next films. Listening to her articulate answers, I was curious to see what character she will show us next.
