I've been listening to G.E.M's album nonstop ever since the day it was released. I am so amazed by her voice! It's so powerful, it's really hard to imagine a 17 year old girl singing like that. She's definitely a newcomer with LOTS and LOTS of potential!! I like how she's attempted to write lyrics and compose. Her song Sleeping Beauty is my second favourite (Where did you go is first ) song in the album and I loved it to bits before I found out that she composed and wrote the lyrics to it! They should plug it next xD

^ Me too! Sleeping Beauty has been on repeat ever since her EP was released. Definitely a singer with loads of potential. Hopefully her next album won't be too long of a wait! Too bad her company is so small...

GEM's actually doing pretty good in the album sales considering this is her first CD. Being in a small company is kind of a disadvantage since they don't promote as much but she seems to be well known in the hk forums so with a little bit more promotion, she'll do pretty good I think.

You can tell she was really nervous during that JSG performance haha, I've seen her sing better live but I'm sure she'll get better with more experience

I'm keen to see her in the Jade singer's anniversary but according to GEM's blog she's going to be dressing up as Britney Spears ' That's going to be kinda strange and out of all the people they could have chosen...why Britney? lol

OMG, this girl can so sing! Her voice is very powerful, I'm very shock that she is younger than me. I personally LOVE 'Where Did You Go', G.E.M. have lots of potential. It is pretty sad that she is from a small company because with that voice & good promotion, she'll be on top for sure. However, I think that a lot of people are starting to notice her, her first album is doing pretty well. It's good that quite of few newcomers are very talented, G.E.M. does have a few advantage though, since she is still young yet she has such a beautiful voice.

Does her Album only have 5 songs? I've heard them on Youtube and I want to get it. A bit disappointed that they don't have canto version of the mando songs. I really like the one she composed herself and the fast pace one. The only thing I don't like about 'where did you go' and 'waiting for someone' is that the lyrics repeat too much.

Celina Jade is not bad but her voice isn't as powerful as Gem. I hope Gem gets more variety into her songs later. Especially singing with more emotions. I think her voice can be very versitile so fingers crossed for her upcoming songs. can't wait for them!

I listened to Gem's songs three days ago and I just love it. For a seventeen year old, she has a powerful voice.
I asked my mom yesterday how old was Gem just by telling by her voice and my mom said Gem is around 20 something.
And those goldfish faces that she makes are just adorable.

The metro award has been a joke for years already. There's no way..there's more than 100 awards in an awards ceremony for one year - especially since there's prob less than 100 singers releasing an album within a year.

Just saw her duet with Celine Jade and am so impresssed. Finally there are singers whom are actually SINGERS in the HK music industry. And being at such a young age...i can tell she'll have such a long road ahead of her...will surely be on the lookout for more of her songs!

Its so laugh-worthy for someone to say Linda Chung sings nice and then complains about GEM's singing live in JSG. I had to say it because I came across some posts earlier on when I was randomly browsing. GEM's worst performance is still better than Linda's best live. I really like how GEM is so 'active' online with youtube and her blog. Did anyone watch the clip of her using a winnie-the-pooh knitting machine a fan gave her? It actually looked pretty decent.

And I'm also annoyed at how people comment GEM can't sing because she is belting out her song all the time. I admit GEM needs to work on her expression of songs (give it more emotions) but she's only 17 so as if she has enough life experience to give her song that kind of depth. Point is, its not belting, its just that other singers don't have enough breath in the HK industry to sing in that style.

Gem was very careful of her actions wearing the low cut dress to put on shoes.

Aged only 17, new talent pop singer Gem Tang is in fact an "Angel and Devil" combined together. The other day the reporter saw Gem trying on a low cut dress in a brand store located in Causeway Bay.

She has rapidly become a "Young guy killer" based on her sweet voice and angel looks. Gem who has always gone by the good girl route normally wears T-shirts, jeans and covers herself up. But due to recent award ceremonies in order to respect the occassion she made an exception and also tried wearing low cut dresses.

Was watching videos on Megavideo..and someone uploaded the xmas episode of JSG. It featured all of this year's new female singers.

Linda dueted with Myolie on a CARPENTERS song and G.E.M. dueted with another girl (forgot her name...haha) on a Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston song. I don't even wanna talk about what Linda and Myo sounded like.....(one three letter word - starting with a B. ...)

G.E.M. was sick...and she still pulled off all of mariah's keys..and even more!!!

When Linda came to the US for a concert for MR..she also sang a Mariah Carey song (Hero)...and what major difference....

gem has become my favorite singer since her debut hit, waiting for him. i think she will continue to suceed because she has amazing vocals!

In 2008 the music industry newcomers such as Square and Mr. were the hot favourites to grab awards. Also G.E.M Tang was praised by Eason Chan and Hins Cheung. It may appear that the newcomers were competing in life and death but actually they have a great friendship. Earlier they met up with each other to play war games. Not only could they play but they could release any pressure they had.

Square, G.E.M Tang, the Band M.r and Keeva Mak all went to an Indoor wild battlefield to play war games. Before the game even started G.E.M became the teasing target. It was the first time she had played this type of game. When she saw Square and Mr. hold their guns she immediately screamed. Often asking "Are there any bullets inside? Will it be painful?" making the atmosphere very funny.

During the game, Square and G.E.M were in one team, while Mr. and Keeva were in the other. The 2 teams exchanged hostages and the 2 girls became the targets. This made G.E.M once again become the teasing target. Gary from Square held G.E.M's neck but she could only laugh. When she escaped she stood behind the others in order not to be captured again. As you can see the newcomers had a lot of fun and went crazy in the battlefield.

Magazine reports claimed that G.E.M criticised Miriam Yeung's singing being poor. She made it clear that she didn't say that about Miriam and that the reports were totally wrong. Her live performance at the 2008 JSG Awards was immense. I'm so glad she got the gold award and even before it was announced everyone was cheering for her.

Dunno if it's just me, but her live performance of Where Did You Go sounded different when she sung it after receiving the female newcomers award. But I really liked it, I think it sounds even better than the CD version.

^ yeah she added the high pitched part in the middle. I like how she sang it differently because if she sang the song the same every single time its a bit flat. I like how she made a little difference but such a big impact!
