A group of male and female leading stars from TVB including Roger Kwok, Bowie Lam, Jessica Hsuan, Flora Chan and Nancy Sit represented the company as they arrived in Malaysia to attend an awards ceremony, where in the top ten "My Favourite TV Characters", TVB took five as well as Roger's Male Lead Award.

Roger and Jessica's characters from the popular show "Square Pegs" also took two of the awards for the "My Favourite TV Characters", winning international acclaim for the show that brought Roger the TVB Male Lead anniversary award in 2003 making them very happy indeed. Roger and Jessica will be pairing up again at the end of March to film the modern version of "Square Pegs" and in order to recreate the cute 'Ah Wong' character once more, Roger will be piling on the pounds again for a rounder look.

As for the recent slump in TVB ratings, Roger is confident he can help to rescue them with the new show, but for a series to do well, it has to keep up with the trends and have a good quality of its own. Just like the film "Kung Fu Hustle", it has managed to do well in a stagnant film market, proving it is a quality production.

As Roger's other girlfriend from "Square Pegs" Winnie Yeung is currently pregnant and it is unknown whether or not she will be taking part in the new show, Roger and Jessica both laugh taht they can show the birth live! When asked if Roger has considered asking his real life girlfriend Cindy Au to take part, he laughs: "I'd better not, it is better if she stays at home and learns to cook!" - it would appear that Roger would like her to be his personal chef.

Although Jessica was heading out rather early in the morning, her fans were there to show their support and when they heard the press asking whether or not she would be marrying her boyfriend in her break, there was a little bit of a frenzy that made Jessica laugh. She says that she is busy fixing up her house and her parents will be visiting for the new year, so she does not have time to get married. She did want to go diving, but after the tsunami, her plans were scrapped.

Flora Chan has also won an award for her role in "Triumph in the Skies" and also taken the "Classic Scene Award" for her chasing scene in the streets of Rome with Francis Ng. Flora says she really liked this show and later she will be working with Francis again, joining Dayo Wong in Guangxi for a mainland series. She says that this time Dayo will not be in a comedy role and will be playing a serious part.

The Date: 08/01/2005
The Time: 8:00 pm
The Place: Wisma MCA
The Event: Astro Wah Lai Toi Drama Awards 2004

After taking the TVB Male Lead award two years ago for his role in "Square Pegs", Roger Kwok has continued his success in Malaysia, with the show not only taking the award for Favourite Drama with "Square Pegs", but also becoming the Favourite Leading Actor. The Favourite Leading Actress award went to Flora Chan, despite "Triumph in the Skies" only airing recently on the channel.

The feeling was that Roger and Flora both did as well, but a quick count reveals that with three awards, Roger was the most successful artiste on the night and narrowly beat Flora's 2.5 awards. When Flora went on stage to receive her award, she seemed very emotional as she thanked her fans for so many years of support and also indicated that this award reminds her that the path she has taken is the right one.

Most of the award winners were as expected by most people, the only surprising result being Raymond Lam taking the Favourite Theme Song award with the theme from "Survivor's Law", beating the hot favourite Eason Chan with his theme to "Triumph" and causing quite a stir among many.

On the other hand, as Roger himself mentioned: "The award is about being happy and having fun." so at the event, as well as the awards presentation, there were also some comedy sketches, singing and even games with the fans to create some atmosphere in the 'party' hosted by Ander Jen and for everyone to have some fun.

Bits'n'Pieces

* With Roger and Jessica Hsuan taking the award for Unforgettable Moment, Ander Jen tried to encourage Roger to kiss Jessica, to which Roger replied jokingly that if he kissed her, then the award will have to be presented again for that.

* Speaking like 'Ah Wong' all evening, Roger seemed a little embarrassed as he watched his own performance in "Square Pegs" during the announcement of the nominations for the Favourite Drama award.

* It wasn't just the fans who were taking lots of photos, even the artistes themselves were too! When all the stars got onto stage for a group photo, Bowie produced his own camera and as well as snapping away at Nancy, he also took his own photos of Roger and Jessica as they received their awards.

"Square Pegs" modern version planned, but Ah Wong does not have time to get married....

The award for Favourite Leading Artist has allowed Roger Kwok to gauge his success in the overseas markets and he is currently preparing for the modern 'sequel' to "Square Pegs" that is due to begin filming in April. When asked when he would be getting married, he says that he wanted to plan it last year, but it is still the case of not having any time. However, he hopes that next year or the year after, he will have time to marry Cindy Au.

Jessica Hsuan does not want to get married yet

Jessica indicates that she never thought that a the effect of a series would be spread out so far and she never imagined she would win an award in Malaysia. As for not being a top winner, she says she does not mind, so she is not disappointed. She is currently resting, but she will soon be working with Roger again in a 30 episode series and apart from Winnie Yeung who cannot take part, then all the original cast from "Square Pegs" will be in it. Also when asked about when she plans to get married, she says that she has not planned this yet, but when she feels that the time is right, then she will do it.

Roger Kwok Chun On and Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen) have their own significant others but they will soon reunite on screen as they start work on the modern version of SQUARE PEGS (NGONG FU SING LUNG) next month.

On Jai and Suen Huen felt that the return of the original cast was a New YEar present, but they would not feel any rating pressure. On this Lunar New Year they did not have to work so they could enjoy the joy of family. Suen Huen was especially happy because his parents returned from Beijing to spend the holiday. She even personally cooked for them.

The New Legend of Ah Wong (Translated title)
Producer: Wong Wai Sing
Script: Lau Choi Wan
Cast: Jessica Hsuan, Roger Kwok, Bosco Wong

Synopsis:
This show has nothing to do with the original "Square Pegs", apart from the main character 'Ah Wong' being mentally disabled. When Ah Wong (Roger Kwok) was thee years old, his mother (Michelle Yim) could no longer stand his father (Paul Chun) and left, taking him with her... After growing up, Ah Wong finds his place in society and meets his ambitious and determined 'Lo Por Jai' (Jessica Hsuan) and a success-hungry young talent (Bosco Wong). Ah Wong decides that in order to marry his beloved, he will work hard to be a useful person, so he finds his first job in the dessert cafe where his mother works and creates "Lo Por Sweet Dumplings" that spark a massive trend...

Jessica:
"The show will be keeping Ah Wong's innocence and everyone in the show will be good people, with no major bad guy. However, my character this time will not be a perfect girl because she has a little wild streak to her. I am so glad to play a bad role, so remember to tune in!"

Roger:
"Filming hasn't started yet, but I have started putting on weight, so I will eat whatever I see. I think I will put on about 20 lbs to make my appearance look naive. Luckily the character of Ah Wong is timeless, so the play the modern version of him isn't too difficult. Lo Por Jai, I am coming back!"

She`s going to be studying at a University with Leila and since Leila always helps her out they become very good friends. Henceforth, they meet Bosco and he`s rich like Leila. Roger will be mentally ill. Basically this series revolves around these 4 people who strive towards their dreams and ambitions. I think Bosco likes both Jessica and Leila so there might be some competition between him and Roger over Jessica.

I've heard that Roger and Bosco were gonna be brothers and Bosco's into Jessica at some point or another (kinda like Roger and Raymond in SP). But I don't know how reliable the source was. Anyway, costume fitting on the 14th! *tihihihi* So excited! Things are finally getting under way! biggrin.gif

Send it to TVB, Jess and Louis via email and really tell them how much we'd love it! I mean, chain letters that circulate are a great idea! Maybe we should send one around TVB members! What do you guys think???? clapping.gif

I was wondering that you know Jessica participated in a film with Cutie Mui, and Lui Fong, called When dreams come true. Has anyone got any kinds of screenshot of it ? If then can somebody tell me who were the main actors of the film i know Cutie Mui, Jessica Hsuan, Lui Fong and then there's this otherguy, but i've totally forgotten his name...

Does anyone know which episode of Super Trio it was that has jessica as a guest ?

I believe the other guests with jessica were Nnadia Chan and Fiona.

THE PERFORMANCE

Acting Skills: A

Jessica's acting skills has some ups and downs, it really depends on what kind of series is she in, what kind of character she is, and who is her costars. Sometimes, Jessica has pretty good luck of getting better storylines and better characters, for example, the one in "DIF IV" is an excellent character for Jessica. However, once a while, Jessica is also stars in not-so-good series, and acts as not-so-perfect characters, for example her character in "Rural Hero" was not that great, her character can get pretty annoying sometimes. But, overall, Jessica is a great actress, she always gives 110% in all her series

Comedy Skills: B+

Jessica stars in number of different comedy shows, but for some reason, I do not like her funny roles. I think she is just like Louis Koo, who is best for the tough and more serious characters, like the one in "A Matter of the Custom", Jessica did a very good job in that series

Crying Skills: B+

I do not recall watching her tears falling down in any of her series, dont give me wrong, she can cry, and she did a not-so-bad job in many of her series, but her crying skills are yet to be improved

Smiling Skills: A

I like her smiles; I think she looks really pretty when she smiles. Take a look at the pictures at left; you will know what I am saying here

Singing Skills: B-

I heard she singing in one of the TVB shows, she was singing with Benny, anyways, I think she sings OK, not so professional

Kissing Skills: A-

Usually a girl's kissing skills can be so much better than a guy's. Jessica has great kissing scenes with Louis Koo, and I really love to see them act as a couple on screens

Dressing Skills: A-

Jessica can dress up really nice in both ancient and modern series. I really the cloth she is wearing in "DIF IV", good match for her character

Improvement Skills: A-

As I said, Jessica's acting skills is up and down; sometimes she acts really well, such as in "Cold Blood Warm Heart", sometimes she can be really annoying because of her character. I like Jessica a lot, I really do, but it is a little hard for me to find most of her characters interesting

Best Breakthrough Performance:

Cold Blood Warm Heart

THE LOOK

Best looking in Ancient series

A Step Into Past

Best looking in Modern series

Detective Investigation Files IV

Best Hair Style

I like Jessica's long hair a lot, her short hair makes her look like a tomboy. In "A Matter of the Custom", she has this beautiful long hair, and I really think that is the best hair style for her. I also like her hair style in "DIF IV"; it is not short, and not long either, but very pretty. Her hair style in "A Step Into the Past" is also pretty, that's probably her best ancient hair style ever

THE SERIES

Best Costar

Louis Koo as all of you will agree with me, their love story in "DIF IV" just so heart-break. I also like Jessica to team up with Wong He, those two had an amazing chemistry together in "A Matter of the Custom". In "Square Pegs", Roger Kwok and Jessica look very cute together!

Best Ancient Series

Game of Deceit, I love that series, it is so funny
Square Pegs

Best Modern Series

Detective Investigation Files IV

Best Leading Role

In "DIF IV"

Best Supporting Role

In "Cold Blood Warm Heart" and "Secret of the Heart"

Of course not. Michelle is the one that looks like Jessica! xD Just messing around, but they do look a little similar. Especially at certain angles--they could look almost identical. There were some shots in Golden Faith where they completely freaked me out with their likeness of each other. I remember a couple years ago, I thought that Raymond and Michelle were the new Louis and Jessica (i.e. good-looking, dark guy with a *relatively* plain girl--no offense), but seems like no one's really talking about Ray and Michelle anymore.

[The Sun]

Roger Kwok Chun On, Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen), and Leila Tong Ning yesterday worked on their TVB series AH WONG SUN JUEN (AH WONG NEW BIOGRAPHY). In the story On Jai dresses up as a globe to promote for a telecommunication company. During the shoot Suen Huen and Tong Ning could not stop laughing at On Jai's costume. Speaking of the seven month pregnant Winnie Yeung Yuen Yi who has resigned from the show, On Jai said that working with Winnie was stressful. "Earlier she and I worked on a scene. In the story I have to run around her. I was worried that I might run into her. Her role was pretty important. Now reshooting it won't be much of a problem."

Suen Huen has read Winnie's script and felt that her resignation was good. "Her character had to cry and be emotional in every scene. After reading her script I was worried for her. Winnie and I are good friends, I have talked with her and learned that she is very bored and wants to work on the series. She says she will visit us."

I didn't used to like Jessica because some of the characters she acted in kind of annoyed me. BUT since watching Square Pegs a couple of months ago (pardon me for being slow with series... poster_oops.gif). She did a good job in it and had me rooting for her and Roger Kwok. Naturally, I was very disappointed witht eh crappy hand-holding ending.

Anyway, I seem to be back-tracking when it comes to series. blush I started watching Golden Faith lately. Initially, I watched it because of Michelle Yip, but what attracted me to the series now is Jessica. Jessica did a superb job with Rachel - strong will, principled, yet you can see a soft side to the character when it comes to love (for Gallen Lo). Gallen and Jessica had so much chemistry in GF that I really enjoyed watching them. They are so natural together and soooo soooo cute! So I think Jessica + Gallen is the best!

Jessica has definitely gotten prettier in recent years, with longer hair. I think she is one of those women who simply gets better with age.

So now I am a convert - a Jessica fan. Can't wait for SP2 to be out!

Roger Kwok Chun On earlier took care of his mother's funeral. Yesterday On Jai returned to work on his TVB series AH WONG SUN JUEN (AH WONG NEW BIOGRAPHY) and appeared to be in a good mood with the other actors.

Kwok Chun On honestly said that he was not disappointed that the rating of his show SCAVENGER'S PARADISE (TUNG LO TUNG PO) was not match for the new comer starred THE ACADEMY (HOK GAING HUNG SUM). With over 30 point in rating he believed that ratings would climb.

On Jai's co-star Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen) knew about On Jai's mother but did not gave him any special consolation. She only lightly patted him on the shoulder in support. She also praised On Jai's professionalism as he showed no sign of impact at work.

In AH WONG SUN JUEN, Suen Huen and Bosco Wong Chung Chak have an older woman younger man relationship. Yesterday Wong Chung Chak expressed his love for Suen Huen. Suen Huen honestly said that at first she was very resistant to the script because she felt Wong Chung Chak was just a kid. In real life if she could choose she would not choose a younger boyfriend. However Wong Chung Chak was not as reluctant. He expressed that he likes mature women and has dated women who are two or three years old.

Jessica Hester Hsuan (Suen Huen) yesterday attended her TVB seris JUST LOVE (LO POR DAI YUN)'s promotion with Sunny Chan Kam Hung, Lee Si Jit, Fiona Yuen Choi Wan and others. Lee Si Jit and Yuen Choi Wan later nearly started a fire when they fried fish and scared children into crying.

Lui San made fun of Suen Huen for her rare sexy appearance. "There's gap, please beware of the platform gap." Lee Si Jit, "Indeed (she) is wife 'big' person." Chan Kam Hung asked, "Why are you dressed like that?" Lo Hoi Pang added, "You are great for dressing like that." Suen Huen only laughed, "Right now I have no suitor, no new boyfriend yet, not to mention a husband. Instead I have thought about artifical insemenation. I want a mixed heritage child."

After she graduated, she went back to HK and decided to take a (few) year(s) off. I guess to look for a job. I hear she once applied to be a flight attendant, but I digress. So during her time off, she and some friends got together to put on a stage show. A TV agent spotted her and offered her a job doing a commercial. Since she didn't have anything better to do and the pay was decent, she accepted. Shortly thereafter, TVB contacted her with a job offer, and the rest is history.

Pretty cool, eh? She's one lucky lady.

I don't think she was very chubby. She had more meat on her than she's had in the last few years though. I remember when I was watching Golden Faith, I was almost appalled at how freakishly skinny she was. Her arms were like twigs. lol. I think she looks healthier in Just Love. She's probably about the size of Fiona, but taller. lol. Anyway, she was chubbier when she started filming for "Legend of Ah Wong," but still by no means even remotely plump. Anyway, it makes me feel better when I see her with some meat on her bones. smile.gif Knowing that she has health problems, I feel a little anxious when I see her too skinny. lol.

As for eating on the set -- The filming of "Just Love" was when she started boycotting the TVB canteen (I don't know if she still is), so if time allowed, she would drive home to eat; if not, she would eat whatever snacks she brought. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. I think she was plumper when she starting filming for "Ah Wong" because she just had a long vacation and got some good rest. Of course, this is really just pure speculation on my part. It's not like I know the woman personally or anything. tongue.gif
