How did Jessica Hsuan get into the entertainment industry?  She graduated with an engineering degree in 1992 and she also joined TVB at the end of the year of 1992!  But she wasnt a Miss HK???  And i dont think she went through TVB acting class to get into the industry?  So does anybody know how did she get into the indsutry?  I am just curious!
*

I heard that she did some amateur acting while she was in college -- like culture shows for the school's Chinese club or whatever. When she came back to HK, she got together with some friends and did a little show. A talent scout in the audience recruited her for a commercial. TVB saw her commercial and came a-knockin' and the rest is, as they say, history. Therefore, no TVB Artiste Training Class.

Life Made Simple has finally broadcasted their big ending last night and LMS is superb. The ratings for Monday reached 40 points and peaking at 41 points. Even though it has not beated Jewel in the Palace's 47 points ratings, it is the TVB series with the highest ratings for one episode. It looks like the ratings for last night's big ending will beat the record.

Life Made Simples' ratings were strong, affecting the other series. The Herbalist's Manual recieved 32 points and peaking at 34 points. Always Ready recieved 25 points peaking at 31 points. Life Made Simple is really loved by alot. Because the weather last night was cold, alot of citizens stayed home, resulting in such high ratings.

Hearing about such good news, Roger was very happy about this and hopes the ratings for the big ending will continue to rise. Next week, he will finally finish all filming in mainland and return to Hong Kong. He then plans to invite everyone even the staffs for dinner to celebrate. He will also buy Christmas gifts for everyone, becoming Santa Claus.

Message: Hi All!

Happy to be able to leave a message here! There is no internet access at the hotel, but luckily, one of the girls here has a wireless internet access card and I can use it whenever she has to work.

Finally moved to our last location. This hotel is not as nice as the last one, but good enough. I was expecting the weather to be much warmer here, but.....Coldish, but not as cold as where we were. It was below 10 degrees there. Here, the only problem is food. Most 'restaurants' are very small, dark and kind of dirty. As most of you know, I have to be very careful of what I eat in China. I did manage to find an ok restaurant close by. I'll be visiting there quite often.

It is still not confirmed whether I'll be coming back for New Year's Eve. Should know within these couple of days. Only 3 weeks away! smile.gif

There has been a slight change in my next project. I shan't be shooting the series with Liza Wang. Instead, I'll be working on a new 30 episode series with Boby Au Yeung, Miu Kiu Wai plus a few youngsters (cast yet to be confirmed). Part of this series will be shot in the Philippines. Yes, I have to go away again, but anywhere with Boby! I'm sure it'll be great fun. :)Should spend around a month there.

This is all for now. Take care and keep warm!

luv,
Jessica

*yay jessica is going to film a new series with bobby. that is absolutely fantastic. both of them are gd friends and i am sure their series will be very funny with bobby around! *

News, credit to New Singapore Fan for the translation:
With the last episode of LMS having powered to a high of 42 points in viewership, the producer of LMS revealed that a sequel to LMS would be considered. Having Lor Poh Jai returning to Ah Wong and promising to be "happy together forever" with him, this ending has stirred up much debate among viewers. Some people feel that their marriage is too unrealistic but the producer who was interviewed insisted that love exists between Ah Wong and Lor Poh Jai and such an ending is fair and reasonable.

Anyways, glad to hear that Jessica's going to be filming a series with Bobby and Miu Kiu Wai! =)

Wow, this is a really good translation by Harry from the Bravenet Jessica forum of an article in Sina. It's an interesting read smile.gif

Many thanks to Harry for the translation! =) If anyone wants to read the original Chinese article, they can go here: http://pub45.bravenet.com/forum/3828411584/fetch/614503/

A Golden Era - Footsteps to Jessica's career
The writer told how he/she first saw Jessica on a magazine article back in 1994, when Jessica was only a newbie then in tvb waiting for opportunities to move up. He also mentioned how the news back then probably featured Jessica/Dicky Cheung relationship which made it a somewhat awkward news at that time, in his opinion. But the Jessica he sees today has actually become a top tvb "ah-jer", so he decided to re-visit the various bits n pieces of what makes Jessica today....

1. Born into a respectable profession
Jessica came into showbiz from the Advertisement industry, unlike others who came from tvb acting, dancing, talent classes etc. Jessica was already made second female lead in her initial series, "Eternity" and "Class of Distinction". New to the industry, Jessica wasn't even nervous co-starring with big stars Faye Wong, Leon Lai. In addition, Jessica also left fans with a lovable performance in her small role in "Flirting Scholar" as being one of the four seasons in the movie. The author also claims that her role in the movie was more interesting than that of Gong Li. Esp the various comedy scenes when Jessica gave audience a good laugh at her stunts, even more energetic, enthusiastic than that performed by Stephen Chow. You could see back then, Jessica has given her best even in a small role. Now each time they play the movie on tv, the writer n his friends would be focusing on Jessica role, as he feels that despite the small role, it was the most eye-catching one....

2. Glamorous Ruo Hui
According to the writer, the success of Jessica character in FOJ IV might have "hit a bulls eye". Prior to the airing of FOJ IV, all attention were focused on the back-then-leading "ah-jer" Amy Chan and Bobby Au-Yeung's love story. During her interview regarding the sreries, the writer revealed that Jessica was "complaining" that the leal scripts were too "jing king" (pro), just like those of ancient costume series (lengthy and serious), and not what she was used to at all, being more familiar with comedy/drama. However, as this character was written to be a very interesting one, plus Jessica's energetic acting, this character became Jessica's most lovely one. This character was also one which embraced the popular dollar-note "hearts", the flipping of glass cup game, and the selena song "dreaming of you", which made these lil details unforgettably linked to her character series in audience heart. Her interesting character was way beyond expectation but within reasons, which brought her the first female lead spot in FOJ V. In that old days without best female award, that promotion was a definite recognition to her superb performance in her character of Ruo Hui....

3. A True Clown - Liang Shuang Shuang
Most of Jessica early day productions were mainly light comedy drama, but when it comes to the greatest comedy, Jessica's acting were probably seen in "Recipe from the Heart". Her role in the series was somewhat prestigous as she carries the chef queen's hat. Even her rival Maggie Cheung at that time had to be the reporter squeezing in the crowds just to witness Jessica pictures in the limelight. But her prestigous image automatically turned to her self-clown character in front of her "see heng" bobby, as she carries two sticks of fishball running towards him, calling him in her funniest voice! Also, another excellent scene mentioned was when Jessica pretended to weep in tears in front of Bobby, telling him that she would withdraw btw him and Esther, but only for us to find out that she then burst into laughter the next second. Watching the present Jessica with her long graceful hair, and then looking back at her character as liang shuang shuang, nevertheless made the writer ask: When will we get to see that side of Jessica again?

4. The unbeatable JL combo
Louis and Jessica altogether has had six productions together, amongst which three of them they play as couples (DIF4, MBF, ASTP). One of the best chemistry was found in DIF4. More comments on DIF4 and on Men Best Friends <>.

5. The Curse of Long Series
Jessica has always been active with the small produtions. And when Jessica actually gets to be part of long grand productions, her roles had never had good endings. Such in Cold Blood Warm Heart, her char never did have good days, first got dumped by a guy, then fall down the cliff, injured and lost her memory, followed by kidnapped, and finally she killed herself. In Secret of Heart, she also got killed terribly by Nick. In Step to Past, Jessica got humiliated, in the end had to share Louis with someone else. In Golden Faith, Jessica got hurt (her heart) by Gallen and Anne multiple times. The irony is all four of these grand series were very successful, and each time, the "other" female actress in each series stole her limelight, ie. Cold Blood Warm Heart's Nadia Chan, Secret of the Heart's Ada Choi, Step to the Past's Joyce Tang and Golden Faith's Myolie Wu. It's like on each occasion, the role given to her is one with so much sorrow and hatrad. Perhaps, none of the other female actress would have done as good as she did, that tvb picked Jessica for these difficult roles. Nevertheless, Jessica gave these so called "boring" roles with all her best.

5. Push her Man to the Very Top
"Pushing" her partner fot the best actor award year after year. First year was Gallen in Old Time Buddy, second year was Gallen in Secret, third year was Louis in DIF4, Fourth year was Bobby in Witness, Fifth was Louis in Step to the Past, followed by Gallen in Golden Faith, followed by Roger in Square Pegs. More on why the streak was broken when Joe Ma lost to Bowie <>.

Notes
Ever since Golden Faith, all Jessica productions have been very stable and successful with high ratings, despite her older smaller productions were also much re-lived by all thru repeats and vds. Her roles however have not been with much new breakthough, but perhaps due to the facvt that tvb production standards seem to be going down in recent years. But he believes that if there is a good script and role, Jessica would definitely be able to give us a new surprise. These days, the hot topics are mainly focused on young stars such as leila, bernice etc. Even the fan-crowded charmaine has become another ada choi (notice how they both came from ms hk by winning 3rd place)??? Its amazing how rapidly Popularity within TVB changes though its years and generations. And as for our beloved Jessica, now she carries a more aire and popularity of that of Lisa Wang. The fight for "fa-dan" is no longer a factor for her, as she remains faithful in tvb over the decade. In 2005, jessica with her charm, has brought back the triumph of Ah-Wang 2, and in the same year "lor por dai yan" series has also aired within the same year. Perhaps when one (such as Jessica) carries such a great protion of the weight (responsibility) for the success of a television series, then she's made it to the next stage, a new beginning of a new world.

Yesterday Jessica Hsuan was seen having a date with her foreign boyfriend and has invited him to stay over. Jessica explained, "We are friends, I'm just eating dinner with a friend. (It said he stayed over at your house.) He left after driving me home, I don't know why they wrote that. (Do you have any chances with him?) I don't know, maybe it's because I haven't dated in a while so I feel sensitive being with the opposite sex." The truth is that Jessica has been filming in mainland for 3 months and just wanted to invite some friends out for dinner.

As the new year is entering, she was asked whether she wants to find a boyfriend, she said, "Okay lah, it's not wanting it just because of the new years. If there is, there is. If there isn't, then there isn't. Plus I'm very busy since I will be filming a new series in March and will be flying to the Philipines for an outdoor scene."

Next month TVB will start filming for a 30 episode series called Do Cherng Fung Wan 《賭場風雲》. They will once again go to the Philipines for outdoor scenes like they did for Revolving Door of Vengeance. The series is confirmed to consist of Jessica Hsuan, Bobby Au Yeung, and Tavia Yeung.

The producer said that in this series, Jessica and Bobby will have some roles as 'obsessed gamblers', which should be a challenge to both of them. Bobby expressed that he has never acted such role in all his years of acting. As with Jessica, she will practice some gambling techniques to spiff up her skills before filming.

I can't wait! It would be nice to watch Jess portray something else other than what she usually acts as. I hope Jess renews her contract though.

jessica is one of my fave actresses and it would be plain terrible if she leaves TVB. since the other fadans left, her position as the no. 1 actress in TVB has been going pretty stable and it's just BAD that she doesn't film a lot series lately. hate it how angela tong managed to steal the limelight and she got to appear with roger more than jessica did!

anyhoo, really hope that she doesn't leave, and also TVB should give her more roles instead of promoting other newbies so much.

i have always like her. She is one of my favourite actress. Does anyone has her bf picture? Thanks in advance! laugh.gif

Yesterday Jessica Hsuan wore a white dress with an Estee Launder status to attend a brand release conference. Soon going to the Phillipines to film with Bobby Yeung and Michael Miu, she expressed that she is not worried about the political situation there and even said that the script was changed because Bobby was afraid to use a parachute, "The company asked me if I was brave enough to do parachuting. Of course I'll do it, you should try everything in your lifetime. But Bobby is scared of height and doesn't want to do it so the script was changed."

Moreover, Jessica was refered to as having a foreigner in her house, she responds, "We are friends. When we ate dinner, we already knew the reporters were right next to us. (Overnight?) If he did then they would've took pictures of it already, but no."

Yesterday Bobby Yeung and Jessica Hsuan arrived at Wongkwok for an outdoor scene of new series 《賭場風雲》. It attracted a bunch of audience and it seems like Jessica had put on some weight. She admits honestly, "Yes, you can see it in the clips. It's very happy filming with Bobby. We eat nonstop and laugh until tears fall down, I hate cooperating with him!" Even though Jessica 'hates' Bobby, they are such good friends. When Bobby was about to get into his position, Jessica took the staff's intercom and rooted on for Bobby. When Bobby found out that Jessica 'hates' him, he said, "She didn't have to eat, why does she have to blame me?"

Bobby and Jessica have cooperated numerous times and both praises each other for playing crazily. He said, "Not alot of girls can play this crazily. She won't be mad no matter how much you joke around. After filming 《美味天王》, I said I wanted to add a scene where I spit water at her face and she was willing to do it!"

I love Jessica, she's my number one favorite actress. Her acting is so good.

i love jessica not just because she's pretty (or should i say gorgeous), but she indeed has great acting skills. she just doesn't get the right ROLES from tvb to promote her talents!! her chemistry w/ louis koo is unforgettable. jessica is one of my favorite actresses. she seems like a very bubbly, happy, and nice! i mean i've heard that she talks to fans online, and in every interview, she is so funny! tvb should really get her to do a comedy series... i mean one where she's actually funny! (unlike SP or LMS). and hopefully w/ louis!

Jessica's new series looks weird, ehehe gambling.. and her clothes looks weird lol but weird is good! can't wait for it! i'm in need of a good laugh!
