Jessica Hsuan Begins Skincare Regime in her ThirtiesAs the spokesperson for a skincare product, Jessica Hsuan took part in a promotional event yesterday, where she confirmed that the product was 100% natural and revealed that when she was in her twenties, she was offered free skincare products, but she did not use them. Now she is in her thirties, she is starting to realise the importance of skincare to avoid dryness and ageing. She says that before taking this product, she often had to put a lot of moisturiser on her face, but after starting to take the product, she has found her skin has regained its moisture. Asked if she would consider having botox treatment when she is in her forties, she says that she would not consider it because she favours the natural approach to skincare. However, she does not guarantee that she will not change her mind then.

Jessica Hsuan Defends Michael Tao as a GentlemanFor many years, Michael Tao Dai Yu and Ah Bo were considered the ideal couple in the entertainment industry. However their marriage ended in divorce, with rumors that Ah Bo claimed Sonija Kwok Sin Lei was the third party and reason for their separation.
Jessica Hsuan was rumored with Michael Tao in the past as well and sympathized with Sonija's situation. "Since I had rumors with Michael before, I realize that in that given situation, it doesn't matter what you say to defend yourself."
Does that mean Jessica supports Sonija? "I can not comment since it is still their private matter. Actually I have not seen Michael in a long time. Since he left TVB in the 90's, we have not worked together. In the past, I played badminton with his ex-wife, Ah Bo. Michael is a very friendly guy."
Was Michael a gentleman? "He's okay." (Was Michael a player?) "Since we are only friends, in this respect, he is a good guy."
Linda Chung also commented, "I have worked with Sonija at catwalk functions. She is a good person. The recent rumors have impacted her image, but I trust Sonija's integrity. In this industry, actresses often have negative rumors. No one wants to be branded a third party for stealing another woman's husband."
Charmaine Sheh said, "I don't believe in these rumors. It makes me unhappy to hear of them. I have not spoken to Sonija yet, but I will not ask her about the incident. It is important to handle affairs between a man and a woman properly, so as not to involve and hurt others in the process."
Nancy Sit Ka Yin said, "I don't know Sonija that well, but she has many negative rumors, which will impact her career. Hopefully she will be able to handle these recent rumors well. Divorce is not always a bad thing. If both parties still love each other, there is a chance to get back together."
Roger Kwok said, "Collaborating with Sonija in the past, I was the only partner that she did not have any rumors with. I rarely call female colleagues, thus I have my wife, Cindy Au Sin Yee's complete trust."
Have there been any actresses who offered themselves to Roger? "If there were, then I would ask them to save those feelings for acting in the series only!"

Jessica Hsuan Romantically Linked With Joe Ma
Caption: Jessica Hsuan shares numerous screen time with co-star Joe Ma in "The Drive of Life."
Hong Kong has been shaken by recent rumors that Sonija Kwok Sin Lei was the third party in Michael Tao's recent divorce. The latest tabloid expose claim that the married Joe Ma Tak Chung was currently pursuing "The Drive of Life" co-star, Jessica Hsuan! The press photographed Joe and Jessica sharing a taxi together while enroute to the airport.
The tabloid claimed that Joe and Jessica were more than friends. But Jessica responded calmly, "Tabloids like to publish these kind of rumors lately!"
Jessica explained that reporters only interviewed Joe about Michael Tao's divorce at the airport that day. The reporters were aware that Jessica and Joe were heading to Beijing to film "The Drive of Life."
Why did Joe and Jessica share the same taxi to the airport? "Joe's house is close to mine, thus we decided to go to the airport together. Although Joe has a lot of rumors, I did not intentionally keep my distance."
"We are friends and there is nothing 'underground' about our relationship, so I do not mind reporters taking photos. I will not respond further to these allegations."

Jessica Hsuan Signs with New ManagerJessica Hsuan terminated her management contract with TVB last year, but continued to film for them under a per-series contract agreement. In the past, Jessica's work schedule was handled by TVB's Artist Development Branch Assistant Manager, Carri Ma. However, it turned out that Jessica recently signed with Bobby Au Yeung's manager, Lydia.
Jessica denied that she had an uneventful partnership with Carri. "Since it is the first time that Carri and I will be venturing outside [of TVB], we are still trying to adjust to the new arrangement."
TVB executive, Ho Ding Kwan, has signed with ATV and will bring TVB staff to work with him.
As one of the targeted artists, Jessica said, "The competition is a good thing, as it gives audiences more viewing choices. Since I just signed with a new manager, I will see what happens first!"

Roger and Jessica Promotional Trip to ShanghaiRoger Kwok and Jessica Hsuan were in Shanghai to promote a co-operation with a mainland website, attracting a crowd of two hundred fans to see them. Among them, Roger's dedicated fans were there with their posters and they called out as their idol appeared. Roger and Jessica played games with the fans, but Roger's Mandarin is not very good and he caused a few laughs from the audience. He also complied with requests for hugs from the fans and this made them all rather excited. Talking of the recent news of headhunting in TV circles, Roger says: "I still have a few years on my contract with TVB, so I will not think about this." Jessica says that she just has a 'per-series' contract with TVB, so she does not rule out any projects with other stations.

Jessica Hsuan Not Angry at Being Called a Traitor - Raymond Lam Complains About PaparazziCast from "The Drive of Life" has been busy promoting the series in Shanghai and have been attending functions laid on by the various sponsors for the show. Raymond Lam complained that with such a tight schedule, the group have not even had a chance to go for a meal together and when they wanted to go for a massage in the evening, there were too many paparazzi around,so they could not venture out. However the happiest thing for them was that since arriving at their hotel in Shanghai, they have met with eager fans every time they appear. Whilst he is happy that the fans are there to see him, he does express his concern for the fans who follow their cars and urges them to be careful.
As for Jessica Hsuan who has been rumoured to be leaving TVB, she will not be continuing to Beijing with the group, explaining that she has to return to Hong Kong to start work. As for some reports branding her as a 'traitor' for promoting her mainland series at the Television Festival earlier, she says she will not be angry because the reporters did not know the background and they are always writing untrue reports when they are unclear on the situation, so she will not be unhappy. She says that although she has many fans in Shanghai, she does not have a fan club there, but her Hong Kong website has been in touch with local fans urging them not to chase the cars to see her. Next January, she will be 'repaying' her outstanding series to TVB before heading out to go skiing with some old friends in February. Although she is not the only one who is still unmarried, she does not want to be the last to marry. Asked if she is dating anyone, she says openly that she is not, so she is putting her attention into her dogs. The first criteria for any potential partner is that he much also love dogs!
Sheren Tang's series "The Family Link" ended the series on 44 points and gained good results, but when she heard this, she asked what is classed as good? "I am very happy with this series and enjoyed the filming process, anything else is an unexpectedbbonus. I will let the producer worry about ratings." She feels that the show's reviews are more important and she has had good feedback this time not just from the housewives but also from men. She feels that after filming this series, she feels that it is like she has experienced a marriage,so she just wants to date now and not get married or have children, but she does not have a boyfriend, so she will leave this to the Lord to arrange for her.

Jessica Hsuan Focuses Career on China MarketJessica Hsuan and Francis Ng Chun Yu were in Shanghai preparing for their new project, "Life Has Tomorrow" 《生命有明天》. Regarding ATV hiring TVB staff recently, Jessica refused to comment.
Jessica revealed that she will be focusing her career on the mainland China market in the future. She also hopes that her future significant other will not be from the entertainment industry.
Jessica was unsuccessful in looking for a partner for the last 14 years in the entertainment industry. Since male artists are often surrounded by beautiful women, this causes Jessica to worry.
Jessica admitted that it was difficult to maintain a relationship as an artist. She did not mind meeting someone through friends' introductions.
ATV's recent staffing changes have caused a stir. Jessica admitted that ATV approached her, but she has not given her future contract any deep thoughts.
Rather than look forward to a hectic work schedule, Jessic prefers to take a short vacation to spend with her family, friends, and dogs.
Over the last 10 years at TVB, Jessica never took a break as long as her current 2 month vacation. As more Hong Kong artists turn their careers to China, Jessica admitted that she will film in China more frequently as well.
Jessica will be filming "Life Has Tomorrow" in Shenzhen next month.

Jessica Hsuan Will Not Be Joining ATV
Caption: Jessica Hsuan will not be joining ATV at this time.
Earlier there were rumors that Jessica Hsuan may be joining ATV. Allegedly, Jessica's mainland series, "Life Has Tomorrow" 《生命有明天》will be broadcast on ATV as well.
At a promotional event for "The Drive of Life," Jessica said exasperatedly, "I explained numerous times I am not joining ATV!"
Since Jessica was a TVB artist, then TVB will have the first opportunity to secure broadcasting rights for "Life Has Tomorrow." Jessica said, "Since it is uncertain which station will be broadcasting 'Life Has Tomorrow,' my voice for the Cantonese dubbing was not utilized."
Earlier Jessica and Gallen Lo Ka Leung were rumored to be moving over to ATV. Jessica said that she was not contacted by ATV before, but only heard from her manager. Someone had inquired when her TVB contract would expire, but she was uncertain who it was.
Jessica noted that she signed a 2 year contract with TVB in October 2006. However, other companies have been in touch with her as well.
"The paparazzi made it sound as if Gallen and I would be working for ATV tomorrow!"
Reporters teased Jessica and said that she could seize the opportunity to negotiate a higher salary with TVB. "No, I will not do these things!"

Eh I seriously have not much desire to watch TDOL now if her role is even smaller than I imagined, this is just screwed up for her to have far less screentime than Sheh. >.<
And heh hopefully one day she could even act again with the likes of Chilam since I know he's one of the artistes who's focusing on the china market too.
edited: Ah well, even if she still remains at tvb, I still like that she gets to work in other productions outside of the station, I guess that's something she has more control over now....

"Drive of Life" Promotion Continues - Charmaine Sheh Likes Being a Landlady
The series marking the tenth anniversary of Hong Kong's Reunification with China, "The Drive of Life", held another promotional event yesterday, attended by Charmaine Sheh, Jessica Hsuan, Myolie Wu, Raymond Lam, Michael Miu, Toby Leung and Gigi Wong. The event was held at the Beverley Hills villas and the stars all turned out in elegant outfits despite the simmering heat.
Charmaine, Myolie and Jessica were arranged to arrive in a horse drawn carriage and Charmaine indicates she found it was good fun, but quite scary, when the horses started kicking each other suddenly. Asked if she is interested in investing in the luxury villas, she says she is, but it will depend if she can get a discount from the developer. Asked if she likes to buy properties as investments, she says: "Yes! I don't know how to invest in stocks and shares and property will keep its value well. I have two properties myself, one that I live in and one that I rent out. My dream was to be a landlady for a living, so I don't have to work."
Jessica has been dogged by rumours that she will be leaving for ATV, but she finally revealed yesterday that she signed a two-year contract in October with TVB, so she still has another year and a half with the company at least.
There have been reports indicating that Raymond has been shrugging off his responsibility, after reports of poor ratings in the Mainland, by indicating he is not a leading role. Raymond says that he was not happy after reading this report and explains that on that day, he was asked whether he has a lot of screentime as a leading character, to which he replied that he is not the only leading character because there is also Damian Lau, Michael Miu and many other leads.
Myolie was asked about rumoured boyfriend Bosco Wong being a bit of a playboy recently, buying expensive cars, watches and clothes and she supported him saying his image is good and that as an artiste, then a change of image is not unreasonable. Asked if she will be the first female passenger in Bosco's new car, she says: "I have never been in it and I did hear him say he wanted to buy a car earlier, but he did not ask for my opinion."

Translation for Fashion & Beauty #186
Not forcing beautiful memories to remain, Jessica uses her own method to create happiness for herself instead.
Jessica had experienced obvious changes in her recent years of acting career.
The most significant change in Jessica is that she had learnt to understand facial expressions and communication skills. Previously, Jessica would just speak her mind and felt that there would be no problem doing so as she was not lying. However, the truth often hurts. Once, she believed that one was a good person when one was good to her but she grew to understand the motives of some and was not so gullible now. Protecting herself, Jessica found herself not being as happy as before and she understood that one had to grow up despite the fact that one could be happier if she remained foolish.
School Life
“The most memorable part of my life was the 20 years when I was sent to a boarding school. Everything were happy when you were schooling as you would not have many burdens and you could broaden your mind. Once, I felt that exams were irritating and when I started working, I understood the joy of studying. It is hard to replicate the wonderful memories of the past as we had too many responsibilities to take care of and people around you were different from the innocent friends you once had. Hence, I would try to make time for my friends. True friends could make you relax no matter what you are doing.”
“When I got a break once in a blue moon, I loved to stay at home. For example, I returned to Hong Kong for 5 days and I accompanied my dogs and watched television programs. I loved doing housework as they made me felt relaxed. Dogs are good companions and I would feel uneasy if I did not have a dog in my house. My 4 dogs are aged 10 to 12 and were very active. They would jog every everyday and I would bring them to country park to exercise if I were free and if I went overseas without them, I would bring their photos along.
Looking for Mr. Right
“His principle is the most important factor and I would not consider his age, family and experience. If the other party is a teacher and would teach me ‘not to do things like this’, I would be very bored and felt as if I married my father. If everyone had the same interests, it would be easier when we were dating. It would be even better if we had common hobbies. For example, I loved diving and if he did not know anything about swimming, it would be alright. The only criteria is that he could not detest dogs as I reared 4 large ones and some were strays. Its alright if he did not like to play with dogs, but he must not mind them. That’s the only issue I insist.”
Stubborn Daughter
In the drive of life, Wah, which Jessica starred as, was a girl who was good in academics and obeyed her parents obediently.
“Wah did not wish to disobey her father and joined the accountancy depart, emt and this was totally different from me. My parents knew me and they understood that I did things according to my interests and I would voice out my views. I could not be forced.”
“the most similar part about Wah and me was that we were serious about relationships. In the show, Joe was evil and misdeed my family, however, I kept giving him chances and tried to change him. If you were to ask me if this were to happen in reality, and felt that he had thoughts of greed, I would break up with him and would not be as blind as Wah.”
Conclusion
When I first known Jessica, she was the pony-tailed girl filming Distinction of Class (I hope its correct, or is it good morning sir), she was the cheerful soul who showed her teeth as she laughed. Now, Jessica acted as more mature characters but she retained her laughter and her white teeth that could be used for advertisements for toothpaste.

The Chinese had an old saying that your characteristics when you are old will be determined when you are three and this was true when it comes to Jessica. Jessica gave others an impression of a ‘tom boy’. From young, she never touched Barbie dolls but enjoyed games that fell into the category for boys. For example, she would play guns, slides and marbles chess with her brother, who is 2 years older than she is. Among them, marbles chess is her favourite as it could train one’s brain and bridge family ties.
Jessica was closest with her brother and spent most of her time with him before she went to study in London at the age of 13. Jessica stated, “When I was young, there were not many sources of entertainment for children. In my memory, I was always playing with my brother or with his friends and so I played table-tennis, slides and marbles chess. I had little chance to play with toys classified to be for girls and didn’t played with Barbie dolls.”
Her brother refused to let her win
Jessica couldn’t stop her excitement when she mentioned about her brother. “He would always bully me during then and refused to teach me the trick to make the marble skip far away. Hence, I kept losing. During then, we would fight for almost everything- the television, toys. Although we kept fighting, we would not hate one another for long and would get together very quickly. Now, we grew up, my brother had his own family, and we did not live together. Thus, we did not see one another often.”
Among all the games Jessica played in her childhood, she loved marbles chess the most as the simple entertainment induced her to use her brain and build family ties as members of the family could get together to enjoy the game. Jessica indicated, “I felt the importance of a family as I grew and didn’t felt it when I was young. I appreciated the times when the 4 of us could spend the whole day playing marbles chess. We were excited and laughed throughout the game as we tried not to lose. Those were the happy memories.”
Jessica sighed that games nowadays were too materialistic
Jessica commented on the vast variety of toys catered to affluent children, “The children nowadays had PSP, NDS or the mouse in their hands. They were rich materially and were poor in their communication with their family members. I felt lucky about my childhood as the toys we had could be shared and there would be communication among family and friends.”
Career started with chocolates
Jessica entered TVB through the advertisement she did with Ferro Rocher in 1991 and had filmed 13 series since 1993. she even achieved “My favourite Female Leading Actress Award” in 1993 due to Detective Investigation Files IV. Shows like Square Pegs, Golden Faith and the Drive of Life that she filmed recently received good comments.
The history of marbles chess was long
Marbles chess was invented in 1880 (Victoria era) and originally had a square chess board with 256 boxes and with chess dispersed at all 4 ends. The objective of the game is to jump the marbles to the opposite end. The chess board was changed into a star shape and when America brought the game to China, it was named as marbles chess. It was sutiable for 2 to 6 players and during most of the times, the number of players were even numbers (2/4/6).

Ending for "The Drive of Life" Revealed (SPOILERS!)
Caption: In "The Drive of Life," Joe Ma Tak Chung's character ends up in jail, while Jessica Hsuan gives birth to his child.
Although TVB's "The Drive of Life," was only broadcast in Hong Kong last week, the ending has already been uploaded on the Internet. This is due to the fact that ending episode #58 was aired in China last week. As a result, the Mandarin version of the series was already available!
Charmaine Sheh was unsurprised that the ending was available online. She was not worried that this will affect ratings for the series. Charmaine revealed that the mainland version was more mild and did not even feature the scene where Damien Lau Chung Yan and Gigi Wong Suk Yee begged on their knees in front of her!
Producer, Tommy Leung, was unaware that the finale episode was availabe online. But he was confident of ratings, as the original version with 60 episodes will be aired in Hong Kong.
In the ending, Joe Ma's character was sentenced to 3 years of prison for arson. Since he admitted his guilt, his prison sentence was reduced to 1 year instead.
Jessica Hsuan gave birth to Joe's baby and promised that the family will reunite when Joe is released from prison.
Damien Lau and his 2 younger brothers return to the automobile factory.
The President and Vice- President titles are bestowed upon cousins, Raymond Lam and Feng Shao Feng.

Holding Her Principles
Jessica is well-known in the entertainment circle to be someone who sticks to her principles. And, she had she had caused quite a few controversies by operating under the notion that “with reasons in my hands, I shall speak up when there is unfairness”. As she was forced to give in to the rules of the society and entertainment circle, she persistently held on to her last principle, “I will not do what I don’t want to do for money.”
In her words, “in the past, my world had only black and white, right and wrong. This is a strength and a weakness. Now, I have a grey zone. As society and situation evolves and when everyone move towards majority rule, I could not force the earth to just spin for me. Certain matters need to be given in, but my unmovable principle would be “I will not do what I don’t want to do for money.””
She could help but laughed at herself as she recalled her “lessons” in the entertainment circle. There were many news on people could get along with each other. However, due to her nature for not taking things lying down, she was made use of to blow up the matters. As she learnt the rules of the games, she realised that it was useless to be confrontational, instead she would think of ways to strike a balance. As she matured, she understand that people have their shortcomings and character differences, and she also realised there are many types of friends.
Century Squabble with Maggie Cheung
In 1997, Jessica and Maggie acted in the series “Old Time Buddies” and caused “Century Squabble Between Two TVB Top Actresses”. Jessica publicly pointed out that Maggie was late for filming, and the latter said that Jessica had caused NG because of her laughing. They continued to scold each other until TVB mediator instructed them to keep quiet. Both of them refused to cooperated with each other to the point of having childish behaviour during the promotional events. Jessica said, “This matter was nothing serious. It just gave the media more things to report. Not many people will remember it now. But I felt wronged because I did nothing wrong and yet I was being accused. Hence, I was frustrated. If I had handled this matter ten years later, I will not make noise and respond to the media; I will ask the other party directly if he/ she has criticised me.”
Don’t Mind Working Again
Jessica described the squabble as the turning point for her growing up. “I was pulled from a very happy world to a realistic world and I made my first step learning to be alert and careful. I was a carefree person and thought that I could remain as so till I’m forty years old until this matter happened. I really didn’t know how to handle the matter then and was vexed. No one could avoid growing up.”
She had gained much experience in the last 10 years and Maggie had recovered from a serious illness. TVB had wanted to filmed a series called “Loggerheads meet again” before, who would be a better cast other than them? “The company had asked if I mind working with Maggie again and I had longed expressed I had no problem with it. I like the series “Loggerheads meet again” and I wanted to play one of the characters who was chatty (I hope I got this term right.)” Jessica was so happy thinking of the acting that she couldn’t help but laughed.
Playing Father-Daughter with Damien Lau
Jessica said that one of her reasons for accepting the filming of the popularly received “The Drive of Life” series was due to the opportunity to work with Damien Lau. “I had watched his acting since young and I can appreciate his charm even more now. He gave me the fatherly feeling. We spoke about acting and about life, especially my character/ personality and my ways of handling matters. He said that he saw his younger self in me because we both have strong character, valued principles and will fight for fairness. Nonetheless, he gave me many advice as because he doesn’t want me to make too many mistakes and waste too much effort.”
Looking back at her fifteen years records, since she joined TVB in 1992, she realised that her disputes with other actresses and her conflicts, complaints and even lawsuits with other people were all due to the fact that she held on to her principles.
No Regret Giving Up Song
It was difficult to have both career and love. Jessica is one who bravely admitted her loves. Her publicly admitted boyfriends are Dicky Cheung, Song and Dentist Chan. Her rumoured boyfriends were Gallen Lo, Louis Koo and Joe Ma. “Louis and Joe were what the media forced onto me. Some of these rumours are very funny.” Out of the 3 publicly admitted relationships, her six-years relationship with Song was the longest. During which was the time she worked hardest for her career and she admitted it was fair to Song then.
Hope to Have Marriage and Family
“I could have agree to go on holiday with him, but I will choose work over him whenever the company called. Career was the most important thing to me then. The second would be family and friends. I can’t remember where I placed my boyfriend then. However, I don’t regret my choice because I wanted to be a wife of a rich man I would have done it long ago. I need to grab the opportunities in the entertainment circle.” Jessica is no longer expecting another career peak. She likes acting but she will strike a balance. “I have to have marriage and family now.”
No Easy Being A Top Actress
It not easy being a TVB top actress. Over the years, Jessica had acted in about 30 TVB series. The highest record is having 4 series, in which she played the main actress, being broadcast in the same year. In 2000, Jessica was filming “A Step in the Past” in mainland China and fell ill due to overwork. She was hospitalised for 8 days and placed on 24 packs of drip. “I don’t know how to said stop to work in the past until I was lying weakly on the hospital bed, throwing up and having diarrhoeas. I told God that I was willing to give up fame, house, car and money to have my health back. From then on, I know I need to slow down my work, and beside work, my family and friends also need me very much.” Jessica has reduced her workload in recent years and changed her contract with TVB to “per series basis”, one series per year.

Jessica is one of my fave actress, I love watching her series. I think she looks prettier with longer hair. Short hair doesn't really suit her.

An angel with compassion
I had always felt that a compassionate person would not be bad and one’s inner heart determined one’s looks. My belief was strengthened when I met the dog enthusiast Jessica who had 5 stray dogs. When you heard about her passion about dogs, you would imagine that Jessica had a pair of wings stretching from her back, outreaching afar like an angel.
The definition of beauty
Others would choose popular breeds as they would look more adorable but Jessica beg to differ. “I loved rearing chow dogs and preferred the uglier ones. I had this habit as the popular breeds and beautiful ones would stand a better chance in getting an owner. Now, the my dogs are quite old, ranging from 10 to 14 years old. Therefore, I would have to experience the pain of leaving in the recent future and they would undergo medical checkups regularly. On the other hand, I would keep adopting strays and there were some dogs lining up to be in my home.”
Tips for beauty
One would exclaim at her perseverance of her beauty upon noticing her slim figure and smooth skin. In fact, Jessica had quitted tidbits like chocolates and chips to prevent acne and reduced her intake of cold drinks and coffee to keep herself healthy. “Previously, I went to China to film series occasionally and I would fight the dry weather there with masks. This was to moisturize my face and lighten my job of caring for my skin. I also recommend having supplements intake for nourishment of my skin.”
