After Gigi Lai has announced her retirement, there's an empty "fadan" spot open now. Who do you think will be promoted to that spot by TVB?

Like it or not, the No.1 fadan is Charmaine right now, since even her closest contest is leaving. TVB surely needs another one, since Charmaine can't be helming ALL the series!!!

Those in line for the spot will most likely be one of these ladies: Myolie, Linda, Tavia, Kate, Fala, Yoyo

My personal pick: Tavia
Who I think will be promoted: Linda

Well there's Jessica and Ada who hasn't retired yet.I would say that Linda, Kate and Fala needs a lot of improvement.Yoyo is too plain to be a fadan. Myolie and Tavia would be good.

My personal pick would be Tavia too, but I doubt that TVB will choose Tavia. Maybe Kate or Linda or Myolie. And Yoyo, even though I like her acting, I don't think she's that popular since I haven't seen her in many series. Like the above poster ^ plain?

Tavia would be a great Gigi successor: beauty + talent
Linda or Kate should be Charm successor: overpromoted + talentless

If TVB wanna do better business, they should balance both side like Gigi and Charm, otherwise, no one will watch their series

however, Gigi's spot now would hand in Sonija, imo

I quite forgot about Sonija.Sonija can act better than Charmaine imo, i think she's well qualified to be a fadan. But a pity about her scandal with Michael Tao that diminished her popularity now. In fact, she's quite a second-tier actress at TVB putting her with Tavia, Myolie and gang. What she needs is a breakthrough role.I wouldn't be surprised if the media start comparing her and Charm once Gigi officially retires.I personally don't think Gigi is a great actress really.I just feel that no one emotes better than Ada, Jessica and Kenix. I miss Esther also. She is so versatile she can put Charm to shame.

Interesting topic...but if you're thinking who would be next in line, it'd probably be Myolie Wu... before the Linda/Kate/Fala over promotion it was the Myolie/Charmaine over promotion....and who could forget those days?? lol! so it would most definitely be Myolie to fill the space of Charmaine and Charmaine taking Gigi's spot (*cries*)...but deep down inside, we all know that Gigi was and always will be better than Charmaine... lol!

my personal preference would be Tavia Yeung alongside Myolie when Charmaine retires.... but we all know that TVB is not in favour of Tavia...so they would probably push Linda to that spot... and who could forget Sonija?? I love this girl, and she can act, but the rumours have always affected her status and it doesn't look like its gonna make it better... Yoyo is good, but I dunno, there's just something missing, maybe its promotion maybe its her roles....

Well i think charmaine sheh would have a pretty good chance to take her spot, but then at the same time they might try to bump someone else up there like linda which is pretty popular, maybe even tavia, becasue i think it is good to try someone new.

Gigi is Gigi ... every artiste has their own style and charisma ... not to mention Gigi's fan base is huge especially in China.
Gigi's filmed so many movies not too mention series, 7 albums, endorsing well-known brands ....

btw, during an interview w Amigo, when Amigo asked whether in the future if Gigi will reconsider her decision when there's a good script or role, Gigi did not give a 'Definite No'.
Gigi's reply was no one knows what will happen in the future so it's difficult to answer that question ... for the moment, she just want to take care of her family, learn new things (go back to school) and take care of her brother's business.
Not to forget, TVB will not terminate her contract which has a few years to run ...

It was not proven that Sonija was the 3rd party leading to Michael Tao divorce with his wife, mere speculation by the media.
As for her being frozen, not too sure ... just know she was away for a period of time filming in the Mainlands with Roger Kwok.

Either Sonija or Myolie!! Linda & Kate need MORE improvement... especially Kate.. she is just a newcomer!!!!

Too bad now TVB doesn't have a lot (or none at all) of actresses with fan da qualities. That's because TVB focus too much on 1-2 actresses and promote them too quickly!! Look at Linda & Kate..... seriously... I don't see them as fan dan maybe for several more years!! Even if TVB will promote them to a fan da status.. it's not because of their acting ability!!!!

I don't think Gigi will be replaced, because Gigi wasn't in many series in de past years.. I think Fala should be more promoted (because all the other girls named, besides Tavia, already have enough screen time!)

I don't think gigi will be replaced because she has left us so many memories, it is really sad that she is leaving the entertaiment circle cause i thought she was a great actress and she is also very pretty. But I think Charmaine will be the #1 sister now that gigi is gone...

Even though Gigi will never be replaced in our hearts, the vacant top fadan spot should now be taken by Tavia or Myo. Both are beautiful actresses with great acting skills. But I doubt it would be Myo since she's focusing on her singing career right now?

My personal pick would be Tavia, but she is not well liked by Mrs. Lok, so I'm not too sure how that would end up. But since her success in <Moonlight Resonance>, tables might be turning. Myolie, I think, is losing favor, so I think that Linda would be the first choice from TVB. I actually think she has the potential, but TVB is pushing her way too hard, series after series.

^ I too agree that Myolie's losing favor. She's concentrating a lot on her singing career lately.

I think Linda is already 'picked' to replace her. She has already kinda replaced her as Bio-essence spokesperson, and if I'm not mistaken, she said she wanted to become Moiselle's spokesperson as well (Gigi's Moiselle's spokesperson)?

Personally, no one can replace Gigi

I always thought that the media pitted Gigi Lai and Charmaine Sheh in terms of who gets the "better" role or whatnot. But now that Gigi is retired, I think Charmaine might be given more opportunities to pick and choose roles. There really can't be a replacement of anyone (I think), but an opportunity for bigger roles is now open. I think Tavia Yeung or Bernice Liu would be a good choice. But I think TVB may continue to favor Linda Chung and Kate Tsui. Fala Chen might be another TVB pick, and she's not that bad.. I just think she needs more experience.

I think Ada choi has a big chance... she is a good actress and she has worked in tvb a long time and her age is similar to gigi lai ^^

charmaine is good too... but I am a bit tired of her ^^

my personal pick would be Tavia. she has the looks and talent, perfect choice (: too bad TVB doesn't like her much. i think TVB will pick linda since mrs. lok loves her so much. i agree with imsupercheesy i think linda is already picked to replace gigi.
i think charmaine is good.. she just exaggerates her acting too much sometimes XD

To be honest kate did enter the entertainment before linda so I can't really say she is a new commer but I don't think either Linda, kate, sonija, myolie or fala can replace gigi even if gigi's acting wasn't too good either she still had fans supporting her and some audience.
the five girl I have listed up are not qualified because kate and linda is bad in acting and need tons of experience and improvments.
Fala I see improvments but still not good enough for taking one of the top fadans spot.
Sonija have been in this industry for so long and she have never been a hot topic or a hot actress that have been loved by audience and she have come up to an age that I don't think TVB will put her in that spot because she still needs promotion and improvments and TVB will not waste their time on her since she is already 35.
For myolie she can be ok sometimes and the other hand really bad so it might take some time for her to take that spot as dang gah fah dan and she is also in her 30's so their might be hard for her to gain that position.
