I don't know what other people think but I feel Miss Lok is controlling too much and pushed the artistes too much.

The recent cases is when she signed Bosco and Kate into record companies. From some of Bosco's interviews I learned that Miss Lok and her team arranged everything for him and he just obediently followed her management. She hasn't learned from what happened with Ron Ng a few years ago it seems.

From the feedback in forums overall people are not keen and interested in Bosco and Kate turning into singers. Bosco signing with music companies was so sudden and shocking and LoL many never even heard Kate singing and suddenly she also signed as a singer. I think Miss Lok's ways of letting TVB artistes 'grow' will only ruin them and cause them to have many haters. Look at Linda and Myolie now who were overpromoted by Miss Lok.

Kate's turning into a singer?! -- Oh yea, I forgot. I haven't heard her sing before. To me, the awards are more like an idea about who TVB is going to promote next.

just unlogically promoting Kate to be even a singer!!! It is ridiculous...By the way, i had never heard kate singing before. As for Bosco, I had heard it before. But, Bosco's singing is just so-so. Just too annoying...

miss lok is such a powerful lady in they industry..but she better not over stress the artists or else it TVB reputation on the line.

She isn't really good at singing (her voice is sharp and chicky), but her dancing is awesome. If turn, she can be a hot dancer. Actually, she often do dancing, not singing in shows. She really can dance.

Bosco's singing career isn't tat "shock". Actually, from 2007, there is news tat Bosco will release album and they planned him to release the album before Raymond. I personally think tat Bosco's voice isn't good enough to be singer, so he should follow on Hip-Hop.

Myolie has voice and I don't find why she can't release her album. She can sing. She can have antifans for her acting (but I think she can act), but her voice, I dun see much of ppl criticize it.

Though I hate her for being so showy, I still admired her because how in the world, did she convince East Asia to take in Bosco???? East Asia has one of the best artistes around here: Andy, Sammi, Miriam, Denise and many other talented singers and they go and sign Bosco?! And put him in second row next to Denise?! I'm amazed at that...

The power of executives should never be underestimated. If a executive likes a certain artiste, that artiste will be promoted even if they have limited acting/singing skills.

In recent years TVB executives seem to be growing in influence which is not necessarily a good thing because too many underserving artistes get promoted way too fast. Bosco and Kate are decent actors but they haven't proven they have any singing credentials so releasing a album seems too fast.

I dislike Lok (for the same reason as Clesias) BUT you have to give her credit. She is doing a good job in terms of finding her artists new avenues of making money. It's easy to fault Lok for getting people like Ron, Linda, Kate, Bosco music deals. But what about the good deals that she has made? Ray signing to a music company, a bad idea? Of course not, considering how well his music career is going. As much as you point to how much Lok controlled Bosco's deal to EA, she obviously did the same thing for Ray & EEG. I highly doubt Ray had input in that. She helped get Kate cast into "Eye in the Sky" with Johnny To, and that started her on a promising film career. Isn't that the main point of a manager?

I think the Myo album is a good idea. She's always been a solid singer..and considering how attacked she is for her acting. Why not change the direction a bit and see if she can regain some goodwill for singing?

Also, there is no disadvantage for TVB to Lok trying all these things for the artists. The music company pays for the production fees and TVB gets a healthy cut of whatever the artist/music company makes from the album sales. If it works then TVB gains more exposure for the artist, if it doesn't work, no financial harm to TVB.

Absolutely not surprised by Bosco's deal, that was rumored before a few years ago anyway. THE surprise is that EA signed him. Bosco is lucky to enter that company and for them to place him so close to the center is .. But I am thinking EA is signing Bosco to be on better terms with TVB for Miriam & Denise & Cherry sake.To be honest, Ray should have signed to EA and not EEG, but considering EEG's close relationship with TVB, I guess that was more likely.

I don't think Miss Lok ruins TVB artists. She's a great manager for the artists she loves. I've heard more than once in interviews where Kevin related how Miss Lok encouraged and pulled him back when he was down. She also didn't give up on her artists that are ruined by bad rumors and artists that didn't make it. She did make a mistake of pushing Ron out to do too many things to quickly, but, when Ron didn't make it and also bugged by rumours, she tried another route. Giving him supporting roles in some big production to hone his acting and sending him to act in mainland series to boost his popularity there and polish his acting. He will be sent to learn dancing in America later. Sonija was bugged by rumours after rumours of being a third party, and Miss Lok found ways to revive her career by getting her the role in D.I.E and introducing her to church when Sonija was depressed. So, she is a great manager to her chosen ones.

The thing she ruins is HK music industry by playing a part in adding more average/mediocre singers to the HK music industry. But, she's just a small potato compared to EEG when you talk about ruining HK music industry.

But, I still think she pushed Kate too fast. She should have let her sing some themesongs/subthemesongs first so that audience are familiar with her singing. Hardly anyone has heard Kate sings. They did that for Raymond and Linda. Why not Kate?

in a volatile industry such as the media; where one day you may be loved by everyone and then the next day be hated by everyone. i think miss lok is just seeing these artists as her products who need to extend in order to prolong their career line.

its a shame that she only promotes a few artists and there fore may over use them to the extent that the audience will become sick of seeing them on the tv.

Seriously... this Miss Lok may be a good manager to the artists since she seems to care about the artists and all. BUT can't she focus on more than 1-2 artists that she promotes AND choose those that have SOME acting experiences??? Look at the newly promoted artists...like Linda & Kate?? They only acted in 1 series and then the next... they will be the female lead!! I think this is soooooo bad!!!

If you think back... it's the same with Charmaine but she is more lucky because at that time, TVB still have a lot of other good Fan Dans like Esther Kwan, Flora Chan, Maggie Cheung, Jessica Hsuan.. etc so at least it doesn't feel like every dame series you will see Charmaine's face!!!!!

It's funny tho... for male leads... you don't see this trend... where all of a sudden TVB focus on all it's time & $$$ to promote this actor!! It's only happens with actresses!!!

I wish they will help Bernice sign a deal with a music company. I feel like Bernice has the voice to make it, at least better than most female TVB artists out there. Now that she seems to be "unfrozen"-lets hope it will happen!

I agree that TVB, as a whole, might not be thinking properly after the whole Ron thing because singing seriously helped ruin his career. He had all this potential to be a good actor, but packing a schedule with no breathing room and having him sing and act at the same time really gave him too much pressure to handle. The same can happen to their other actors.

On the opposite end, it's not like TVB just recently started this. Gallen, Nick, Louis, Bowie, Flora, etc. all signed with record companies, released albums and won TVB music awards during the height of their careers. The only difference is that singing wasn't half of their careers and it certainly was not a promo for their already solid acting careers, singing only served as extra income.

Yes, I agree. Ms. Lok is not ruining her artistes, nor is she ruining TVB. She is ruining Hong Kong Entertainment Industry. Sure, she may make money, her few favourite artistes who maybe lack of skills may make money, but in the future, when someone with a better passion for entertainment quality comes to reign TVB, people will look back and see how under quality is the production today. She is marking a very regrettable dark age in entertainment industry if you ask me.

Yup this is what I mean. Miss Lok and TVB just didn't learn from Ron's case! Ron's lucky he got immense support from TVB and got chance to cool off while making big bucks and receiving acting training by doing mainland series, and he'll make a comeback next year with 4 series.

What happened to Ron 2 years ago can also happen to others who have no singing background like Kate and Bosco. I don't think they will succeed as a singer and eventually will go back to acting. Even Kevin didn't really pursue his singing career further.

Louis was the weakest link. But, the other actually range from ok to good. Bowie was Ok, Nick was decent, Gallen and Flora were good. All four can sing live.

The album looks so rushed and hastily done. The packaging is bad. The cover is weird with the woman around and there's so few songs. Furthermore there's no MV attached. Myolie's and Linda's albums are packaged way better.

She can promote them is because she's a powerful woman in the HK entertainment industry. From what I heard, she has alot of power in TVB and what she says goes. If she favor one person she will overpromote them and if she doesn't like one person she can demote them or freeze them until for a time being.

Basically Miss Lok over promotes the artists she likes and then everything goes downhill
Look @ Linda, Myolie and Charmaine. Before they got overpromoted, a lot of people liked them. When Linda first started acting in <Virtues of Harmony>, people actually sorta liked her and supported her since everyone had talent. But then, after Miss Lok started promoting her w/ 3-4 series a year, everything went downhill. Although Linda has talent, Miss Lok did a wrong thing by promoting her to much when there were other "more capable" actresses to choose from, ex: Bernice, Tavia, Leila, etc..

Now her new things is to push TVB artists into the music industry. If they could actually sing decently, I wouldn't mind but look @ Linda, Kate and Bosco. Okay, Bosco and Linda seemed to have sang some themesongs/subthemesongs but what about Kate? Basically at the TVB music awards Bosco made a fool out of himself by singing w/ Eason.

But what does Miss Lok care? All she cares about is making money.

I agree that she ruins artiste with her promotional ways, but I have to admit…she is good at doing her job for the people she likes. I mean…she is human resource? Yet it seems like her power sinks into a bit of everything…to be able to do so much for her favourites is pretty impressive. While you can say…it increased a lot of haters for her favourites…but hey her favourites are making money with the amount of exposure they’re getting. And isn’t that technically a point of the human resourcer. Dealing with the wages of the artistes? I think it’s just a shame that I don’t like a lot of the people who are her favourites. But that’s the same for all fans… At the same time she is bad for having favorites—very obviously. I mean ..there are always favorites… but you should probably hide it..or make it close to being as fair as possible…but Ms.Lok isn’t like that…despite her mouth saying she is..but her heart isn’t.
