it seems like there were way more talented and beautiful females and cool looking males (no homo) in the past in TVB. now that i have grown older this new generation of actors is not the same anymore, they're more uglier and can't act. and i'm worrying about the future generation of TVB actors. seems like its going down hill every year

Well, I think there are still some in-betweens that aren't new and not from the older generation that have potential... like Leila Tong (though they don't really use her a lot in TVB series), Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung, Kenneth Ma, etc. But I agree with you to a certain degree, I don't like how they promote people like crazy..because then they end up in so many series and it gets tiring.

Hmm there should be so many stepping up at the plate soon such as

Linda
Raymond
Fala
Bosco
Katie
Ron
Kevin
Molyie
tavia

even thought i not even in my 20's yet i still prefer the older generation in the 80'/90's bc they proved to have better quality in acting and the series they starred in. the recent generation doesn't really stand out as much either in looks or acting. therefore, i agree how the future gen. after raymond and his groups would probably do worse since they don't need to go through proper training as actress/ actors in the 80's and 90's, as long as they are favored by the high executives they would be promoted to fan dan and siu sang. just look at the above list they aren't exactally talented/gifted in the acting or look deparment.

^ Boohoo...they seem to be in lesser series every year!!! I dont want that...i hate watching new people. They just stuff the whole series up but thinking about it, TVB needs new artiste! Arghh... weeping.gif

I prefer the older generations too, they had better acting skills and the storyline is way better than the shows now. I really miss those good old shows. I am watching lesser tvb show now.

Though, we should not crticise on the acting of the younger generation, they probably haven had enough experience.

But, the older generation is still better.

I Love the old generation...i think the future generations focus too much on looks. I think the older actors were all good actors that's why they're in TVb...but nowadays...people just get into TVb because they look good andmost of them don't have that much talent, hopefully TVb will find more talents and less looks in the future. Though looks count too just not as important.

That's because they use to promote people from training class. Even though the class is not long (I think a year), they have to audition to get into the acting class and the top graduates are the ones TVB promotes as newbies. I know a year does not sound like much but at least the idea behind of being trained is better than winning beauty pageants or Mr HK. Andy, Tony, Bobby...almost all the veterans are all graduates from acting class.

The 'more recent' graduates from acting class who are promoted by TVB is limited...biggest success being Raymond Lam. In the female side, only Tavia ever had leading roles.

Thing is, TVB is successful. How can you not admit that they are when those who they want to be promoted are currently popular in HK? Whoever they want to be in the frontline, they give them series after series, opportunities after opportunities until the HK audience accepts them as having the status of leading actors.

Its pathetic how time after time, TVB needs to bring back Veterans to spike the ratings (HOG, MR and RB). While in reality, they never had to bring back so many veterans in the past. A few maybe, but not the major focus.

Its even more annoying how the actors/actress nowadays can't even speak Cantonese properly. Those who came back from overseas can hardly act ancient series seriously.

you compare to the taiwanese artists and compare to the artists in TVB. there looks and shows are way more appealing to me.

I guess since I pretty much watched all the series with all the new actors i like the new actors cause they are much cuter but i would agree that some of them cannot act at all, the older cast can act more but then sooner or later they will have to be replaced.
