I really like Kame, but the storyline of this movie doesn't sound too interesting, I don't get why he doesn't pick more drama where he play a student, like Gokusen and Nobuta, after those too dramas he starting playing in roles where he is more of a grown up which I think is too soon, but that's just my though, I will still support this drama and hope that it does well.

^i prefer high school dramas too...but i think it's good that kame is taking up roles other than students, i think it's better than always playing student roles...at least he plays other roles too.

uhm...school drama no more... unless it is a very good school drama... with so many school dramas, medical drama likewise, out there it would not be easy to actually produce a good one. Gokusen, NwP, as well as Kindaichi are past glory it's abt time to grew out of them. Actually KnS has a good potential, given the fact that the story itself is very well known... even internationally, hopefully this one will do better than his previous dramas. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of promos and official infos, which is surprising IMO, drama cast has been "supposedly" announced (d-addidcs has some details), but I haven't seen anything official yet, even an official website to start. RESCUE, Maru's drama for example, has even better infos than KnS, eventhough Rescue airs much more later than KnZ *shrugs*. But of course, Rescue airs on TBS, while NTV will host KnS... *and NTV is somewhat a lil bit messy when it comes to drama production* The fact that KnS will face Triangle (superb casts) is somehow worrisome " Allright, nuff said, let hope for the best!!

^I think this was the problem with Kame-chan's last 2 dramas; Tatta Hitotsu no Koi and 1 Pound no Fukuin, both did not do very well in the ratings, despite the fact that both had the potential to attract much higher ratings, particularly THnK...but I think the problem lied with the broadcast station...I noticed that many of NTV's dramas don't do as well as other networks, it could be due to poorer promotional strategies, I don't think they promote their dramas enough...the only dramas I know NTV do so well with are the Gokusen series with the last 2 seasons garnered ratings of well over 20% average, even better than HYD (TBS) and Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Fuji TV), and many more other popular dramas from other networks, season 1 also did very well. Perhaps because Gokusen is such a popular and reknown manga...but so are HYD and HK. There's also NwP and Kindaichi. Is it just me, or does NTV overly promote certain dramas of theirs, but not so much the others? I also noticed that about 90% of all of Kame's dramas & sps (including ones guest appeared in) were all aired on NTV...I'd like to see him working with the other networks more...particularly either TBS or Fuji TV.
Anyway, I hope all goes well with this drama.

Gokusen is pretty much a completely different story, it is like a tradition, pass from generation to generation XDXD and yes, NTV promos and production might be one of the worst, I am quite sad when I know NTV will, yet again host KnS. Why is Kame's drama always go to NTV..., it's a mystery to me. NTV has been, somewhat, owned KT... KnS might, again like his previous drama, depend heavily on Kame's appeal, in which i don't agree in most cases, he has been fighting solo for a long time, and taking all the responsibility of somehow dragging the rating down, despite what is supposed to be a good material. Somehow I do hope he will take a great supporting role instead, just to ease some tension, but oh well... I've seen the latest promo clips for both KnS and RESCUE and KnS's clip tells nothing while RESCUE shows so much in mere seconds. Hope they will do better as they come closer to the premiere date (jan/13) Rating nowadays is tricky, but majority is going much lower than previous years, of course a good drama shouldn't be judge by rating alone, but as of now, sadly, that's the only official measurement.

thanks for the scans fanofsam.
It is true that ratings don't determine the overall quality of a drama...it's only that poorer promotional strategies can really prove to be a problem in its marketing and overall reception. I don't think NTV promote their dramas enough, thus, attracting less interest and support...if they put more effort into their promotions, the support from the viewers and public will increase.
Again, I just hope all goes well with this drama.

that's so true, i don't like ntv, there are only a few dramas of theirs i liked (mainly ones with kame or shun), it seems their promotions are limited compared to the other stations...n i can understand that they don't wanna reveal too much in their trailers n stuff cuz they don't wanna spoil the audiences too much, but still, a less interesting trailer attracts less interest.
but let's hope this drama does well, i heard it's highly anticipated, very likely it would do well i think.

First Episode's rating is out: 10.3 and yes, it's a low opening rating if anything, this might console us a bit, the rival, FUJI's Triangle Second Episode is 11.1 The viewers might have been devided evenly... Anyhow, lets hope for better rating.
p.s; I am not in anyway implying that KnS is better than Triangle.. I am just biased. That's all

Jan 14 2009 4 04 AM
Seriously, I am also quite dissappointed with the rating. The premier of Triangle is 14.7% (1st episode).
subsequent drop. so my main concern also for KnS on subsequent episodes. Normally 1st episode is the most important. If you are able to attract the viewer then subsequent episodes would flows better.
But to be honest, the story line on episode 1 seems to be jumping from 1 scene to another. Maybe I watched without sub so I still reserve my judgement. Kame & Tanabe Seiichi acting are quite good. So when I watch its more for them.
I know there are going to be comment like "It's not the rating that counts" "We support him not the rating" "Rating not important". Please don't say that. KAME IS A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST. How to judge his value by the production team & the tv station? I mean if he can bring in high rating, it spell out more sponsorship for the drama and thus more income to the station. So he can safeguard more roles in future.
Unfortunately, we are not able to do much to help boosting the rating.... zan nen....

I am so agree with that. Though rating is superficial, and it doesn't in anyway justify a good performance or what not, it is, however, the only official measurement available, and it does matter and it counts, and I bet Kame knows this as well. that's why he works like hell to promote his drama. Ratings might reflect the sum of everything, but more than not, it becomes a personal measurement for the main role. I just wished he would take a lighter role (therefore responsibility) in the future to really gain a better grasp on the whole viewership thing. As biased as I am, I pity his wasted talent and marveled by the fact that rating always goes against him. Or I can just partialy blame it on NTV for placing it against Triangle, but it doesn't matter anyway since the argument is baseless.
This might only happen with a sheer of miracle, but I hope the second episode will at least have a stagnant rating

I think because this drama is more on serious type maybe mostly of the teenagers does not have an interest in this kind of story. Even though Kame is a good actor it must be hard on him to make those majority of viewers(teenagers) to like his drama. I hope people in Japan could appreciate his talent and watch his drama. It's so sad to know the 1st rating of this drama.
GOOD LUCK Kame-chan!
Thanks Sam for the rating.

I'm in a hurry, so I'll just quote my post in Kame's thread regarding the ratings...
QUOTE (♥-ScrystaLz-♥ @ Jan 15 2009 2 01 PM)
As for KnS ep 1 ratings...it is indeed very disappointing...but I can't say I'm surprised...to be frank, a part of me had expected the ratings to be not very good...I'm not doubting Kame's talents and abilities, it's the fact that it's a drama from NTV afterall, most of that network's dramas don't do very well in the ratings...it's a sign of weakness for that network...no matter how professional the actors are, the dramas themselves just don't attract the kind of reception they expect...so the problem must be lying with the station...they only have a small handful of dramas which attracted really high ratings nowadays, most successful being the 'Gokusen' series (G1 is my fav jdorama of all-time). The other 2 big stations TBS and Fuji TV seems to be much more accepted, alot of their dramas do much better in the ratings. Remember Kame's 2006 drama Suppli / Sapuri which aired on Fuji TV? Although compared to some of NTV's dramas, the story and the whole composition of 'Suppli' was much weaker in comparison, abut its ratings were still alot better than most of NTV's dramas...I think 'Suppli' was the only time Kame ever worked with another network besides NTV...although he did had a cameo role in Koki's TBS drama (which didn't do very well either). I'm still hoping Kame would work with the other networks more. But I must say, there's 1 aspect about NTV which I appreciate them for...they seem to be more loyal and passionate to the actors than the other networks...I've noticed throughout the yrs that there has been countless occasions when NTV's dramas failed to attract a substantial amount of support in the ratings, but they still cast the same actors in their dramas. Kame's last few dramas didn't do very well, but NTV still has faith in him and continue to give him acting jobs...same goes with Oguri Shun (NTV seems to adore him too). And I think that's one reason why the actors respect and appreciate the network, because they're so loyal to the actors, it just seems ratings isn't as important to them as the other networks. I think they're quite smart to have that kind of sentiment, because it shows that they don't just care about money and ratings, I think that's why the actors choose to stay with the network, despite its less than impressive ratings record. So I wouldn't worry about Kame's acting jobs declining, it seems NTV is very fond of him, and I'm sure they will continue to give him jobs regardless. But it's not all bad news for NTV in the ratings war...although yes, alot of their dramas may fall short in the ratings, but they still attract many support. Kame's THnK and 1PnF may not have had very high ratings, but they're still popular dramas...and I have to say, some of NTV's dramas do have overall better quality than some dramas from other networks. It just baffles me why most of the time they're unable to attract the kind of reception other networks do...I have no doubt in my mind that the problem lies with the network.
Nevertheless, I wish Kame & KnS all the best, ganbatte!

in response to ur post crystal, like i said in the kame thread, i agree with u...
ratings don't prove much at all...alot of ppl still support a drama regardless of its ratings, so i wouldn't worry too much about the ratings now...i'm sure alot of ppl would still support the drama regardless of what the ratings are.
