Ivy Li Chu Ning couldn't get through hardships; left last word and committed suicide

One Million Star Season 3's contestant, Ivy Li Chu Ning, because of some hardtimes with feelings, suicided by burning charcoal in her car on the 12th at nighttime. She was only 24 years old.

On the 16th of last month, Li Chu Ning had just passed her 24th birthday. On the 12th of this month, after she phoned her relatives and hinted that she was going to commit suicide, they lost connection. At 8:45, a friend discovered a small car near Tai Chung, Hansi. After breaking the window of the car, she seemed to have lost her life already. She was rushed to the emergency room until 10:35, they announced that she was certified. Her last post on her blog was on October 30th, which wrote "Why doesn't the person I love quickly give me a marriage certificate to sign, haha", showing that she couldn't let go of the hardships with her feelings. Also, according to her family and her agency, her death had something to do with her feelings.

Already had the thoughts of suicide on the 11th; Lost connection on the 12th

According to investigation, when Chu Ning's corpse was found in her small car, she was dressed normally and on the passenger's seat, there was a small pan of charcoal. In the car was also her handbag, cellphone and diary, etc.

From a source, on the 11th, Li Chu Ning phoned her sister and expressed her complicated feelings and had a thought of suicide. Her sister tried to calm her down on the phone, and also told their parents. They connected each other using their phones, trying to save her, but on the night of the 12th, they received a hone call from Chu Ning once again and she stated that she had already decided. She told her sister not to come; it would be too late already, then they lost connection.

Car stopped at the side and burned charcoal; Couldn't be saved at hospital

The Bu Li family rushed and found many TaiChung friends to search everywhere and around 8pm on the 12th, Chu Ning's car was found on a HanSi roadside. The friend found Ivy had already fainted in the driver's seat and broke the car window open to take her out, phoned the police and the firemen took her to a hospital near China Medical University. At around 9:30pm, they reached te hopsital and there was no sign of life. The emergency clinic head pointed out, that during the aiding, they dod blood tests and found in her blood that she had breathed in too much carbon monxide. At 10:35 pm, because her heart beat and her blood pressure couldn't recover, she was announced certified. Li Chu Ning's father and sister arrived afterwards and cried painfully at her body. Her father sadly stated that this was her own choice.

WTF is with all these stars/celebrities/known people commiting suicide? Are you serious? There are starving children and people with the AIDS diesease out there, and you want to die because of a freakin small problem in your life?

I dont care if my post gets modded, as long as one person besides me sees this then it's done its purpose. I see how corrupt this world is.
missLILY
Emotional problems are hard to deal with. You are basically vsing yourself. It's hard to keep fighting with yourself and keep the pain lingering in you. You deal with it until you just basically can't. I feel for the ones that suicided but it's really different than people with AIDS diseases out there etc.(post above). It's hard to fight with depressed emotions and stress every second of your life. I just hope there is more suicide awareness and campaigns to help depressed souls that want to suicide. Though it might not be easy because a lot of depressed people are scared to get help or in denial. Anyways, RIP ♥.
kdramagirl80
I feel the same way you do ...I think it's very selfish to commit suicide...they,re so many people out there dying from illnesses that cannot be cured.

I don't see how emotional problems could be solved through suicide in ANY WAY. It's ridiculous. People need to get a clue.
midnightdreamz
I agree. Suicide is not a solution!! It is really stupid because life is so precious. Many people who have life-threatening diseases are thankful for each coming day....it is so foolish to end your life voluntary...=/
missLILY
I'm not saying emotional problems could be solved by suicide. I'm just saying that they suicide because it's too "hard" for them because you have the emotions controlling you and the brain triggers a lot of unpleasant gloomy thoughts. Some people are haunted by unpleasant events in their life which they can't just get rid of. They are suffering "too" much pain inside. Each person has their own limits. Therefore, I think there should be more suicide awareness etc. to help people because death rates due to suicide are becoming increasingly high.
And don't say things like how they are stupid to suicide when other people are striving to live. You don't know what is it like to be in their shoes. Respect the dead please.

People do it, but it isn't a valid excuse for it.

Yeah, i'm going to respect a known idol/singer/person who have just committed suicide because someone did not give her a marriage certificate to sign. She was 24 years old.
Now i don't know who she was exactly, but she was stunning and beautiful from the looks of her pictures; something other people desire to have. She was 24 and she committed suicide. No i do not have/had any respect for her. I do however, would like to wish her the best after death and RIP.

Suffering? These suicidals have no idea what half the people in this world go through.

The luxury has gone through their heads.
ngpossible
Though everyone is calling her selfish for solving her problem by committing suicide, I think everyone should try to understand things from her perspective. It's easy to say life is precious and we should cherish that we're healthy and alive, but when someone is emotionally troubled, they don't think about those kinds of things. Rather, they focus on the negative aspects of things. As a result, they feel like they have no way out and decide ending their life as the solution. It's not sensible to do that, but that's the mentality of someone suicidal.

She had a hard time before her death (not solely referring to her failed attempt at marriage, but also through stresses of being an entertainer, which is certainly not easy), let's not continue criticizing her after her death.
swimfishyswim06
So sad... Ivy was so young and talented. It's such a waste sad-smiley-065.gif Hope she didn't suffer too much and that she rests in peace. Hope her family and friends can come together and support each other.
uhmmx
she's from the 3rd season. its indeed depressing... sad-smiley-065.gif

i also feel tt she's one of the best in the season.. why did she left the affairs of the heart take away her life? hope she can find peace in the other world.

RIP.
Shoe.
Just exactly how many suicides have been committed among celebs? Gee. It seemed to be the trend right now.

While many of those who are suffering from all sorts of diseases, illnesses are trying hard to keep themselves alive and live every moment of their lives... there are those think that they had suffered enough and wanted to end their life quickly, once and for all.

For celebs, I think it's really stressful to deal with emotional hardships since they ARE celebs, people who are famous... there're probably many factors that contribute to the hardships and we most likely know nothing of it. However committing suicide is definitely not the way... I don't know but I find it a really selfish move. Have they thought about their family? Their friends?

Anyhow, whatever it is, it's already over. RIP.
阿Mei
I don't think it's right to call celebrity suicides a "trend," or that this is a trend in Asia. Suicides happens every minute, all over the world. When celebrities are involved, of course it's going to be "high-profile" and hit the news. It's the same with anything involving a famous person.

Who are we to judge what a person does? Yes, suicide is not the solution to everything. A rational personal knows that life is precious, and that there are far more problems and issues in the world. However, in situations like this, we're dealing with people who are not thinking rationally.

We as outsiders do not know what a depressed or suicidal person goes through. We have no right to judge them because we're not standing in their shoes. Sometimes when a person is affected or overcome by their emotions, feelings, they do irrational things. They do things they normally wouldn't do when they're thinking rationally. They're not thinking clearly. In times like that, they really need a support network that they can turn to, not people who will criticize them for contemplating suicide. Most often suicidal people feel like there's no hope, that they have no one to turn to, or that nothing will solve their problems. Others feel pressured, either by their family or society. They then believe in their minds that suicide is the only option because they "can't turn back" and nothing will work out. It's unfortunate, but that's how they see it. Looking at it from a rational point of view, you will think of it as a "stupid" and "selfish" decision, and that there is a lot to live for. But if you're standing in a depressed person's shoes, you may not look at things in the same way.

I hope the deceased will RIP. What is done, is done, and we as outsiders shouldn't criticize the choice the person made even if we don't agree with it.
angelz84
She was definitely one of my fave in Xing Guang 3 ..
It's a big loss to all of us , i have always thought that she will at least release an album because she has a special unique voice ..

Anyway .. RIP Ivy Lee Chu Ning
minimin
@Mei, I agree with you, though I also agree with the others that suicide is definitely not the right choice, but we're really not the ones to decide though.
It's true, a emotional-irrational suicidal person is different from a person who has illness/disease so you CANNOT compare their pain and suffering to those who are suffering from a more physical type of pain (well emotionally too). People who are sick from illness and disease have things in their life that they still want to live for (well some are differents- leading to things such as euthanasia), but suicidal people dont have that. :/ At least not in their moment of thoughts when they wanted to suicide. They throw that all away.

Anyways, it's sad whenever I hear about these things. I hope she rest in peace.
aznblueflame
who was the MLB star she was dating??? was it the pitcher on the Yankees? i know he is from taiwan.
SuJuLuv
Oh man....not another star....this is really bad...first Korean stars now Taiwan...this is very upsetting to hear...I get that you guys are stressed and probably depressed but dying is the not solution!! The saddest thing was she couldve been a GREAT addition to the entertainment industry!! She was extremely talented! Hope her family and friends can cope with this devastating loss.....Your memory will always be remembered in the hearts you have touched.
RIP Lee Chu Ning
noktekniq
so i was the one who posted this thread, and now i can't recognize it. no credit for the original poster or anything. wth?
chinoischick
this is so sad, there has been a rash of suicides, are things so bad that death is the only answer?
Kuya4307
those who said suicide its selfish...well its kinda is...but you CANNOT judge. you are NOT depressed...people who aren't diagnosed with depression WILL NEVER understand these people's feeling and way of thinking.

anyway...it's really sad to hear all these celebrities committing suicide. people are still way to ignorant about depression (thus many who think it is selfish) so help is not always readily available to those who needs it.

hope her family stays strong.
MissyA
Such sad news. ...hope she's at peace and has found what she was looking for by doing this. Very sad.
joykimlee

xxcarolxx

mcleen
I've watched her performances before ..and she's definitely a great singer...it's such a pity that she chose to end her life this way ..however , may she rest in peace and condolences to her family .
novemberbaby
I've never seen her performances at all, but I've been reading her suicide news, and it seems that a lot of people in the business are shocked. Some even met up with her days prior to her suicide and didn't think there was anything wrong.

*sigh* Wish she could have sought professional help.

RIP
Sabby
She really does have an amazing voice and she could have went really far in the entertainment world with it. Can't believe she did suicide but its reality....
R.I.P
sporkandfoon
*sighs* There goes another one. First Korea, now Taiwan..? Hope that this is not the case that would spark off a series of others.
bluethunder
She was always one of the standout singers on Xing Guang. She had a really unique voice and seemed to have a good future ahead of her. I know she leaves behind a lot of fans and loved ones. Many fans have left messages on her blog. If only she knew that there was a lot of people supporting her and that she has so much to live for. I remember her coming back for XGB4 and performing with a member of the new class. That was only a couple if weeks ago too. I guess she put on a strong front and really hid her feelings. R.I.P.

It's not just as simple as "suicide is stupid, don't do it".
Depression IS a mental illness, it needs to be treated with the right method.

I don't know who this Ivy is, but may she rest in peace...it's always very sad whenever someone dies.
loveshmove
i was really, really shocked when i read the news on the newspaper days ago. she was a really cheerful girl and her performance in million stars was really awesome. it's really a pity for a talent like her to go just like that.. there were news on the contestants and judges all very upset about the incident too..
well, RIP chu ning..

I apologize if i have been harsh on this issue.

The fact of the matter is, suicide IS stupid. Period. It's not a valid excuse for anything. It's almost the equvilent of execution, but on yourself.
Condolences to her and her family, though.
♥ InitialE
Suicide may be stupid to us outsiders, but to the people who do it, it's completely rational. I don't think we should be critisizing her when she's already gone, though I pity her family who has to go through all these grief... RIP.
harry
omg she just age 24.what a pity.so she commit suicide because of broken heart?
RIP Ivy Lee Tzu Ning.
