Gillian Chung has lost a 7 figure sum for performing on stage

Gillian Chung (Ah Gill) Chen Shuyi and Siu Mei-Gwan were rehearsing for the stage musical "I Ought to be in Pictures" (星爸亞爸) yesterday. Ah Gill had a support visit from Chief Executive Officer of Emperor Wu Yu, Joey Yung and Kenny Kwan. Wu Yu had brought some coffee along and Joey gave her a handbag full of lemons whereas Kenny gave her a massage stick. Ah Gill tried to impress them by performing part of the play, but she wasn't familiar with her lines, needing constant reminding. Ah Gill revealed that the play is a comedy, she wanted people to laugh till their throat hurt. She even puts an extra line in local dialect, which she learned it from her 90 years old grandfather. It was a pity that he has cataract, and wouldn't be able to watch the play.

Ah Gill has been trying to memorize the lines, she is worried that she may repeat her them. She has put in so much effort for this play, even turned down some jobs offered to her as well as postponing some commercial work. It is estimated that she has lost a chance to earn 7 figure sum of money. Ah Gill told reporter "I'd rather perform well in this play, there will be 6 plays. If I forget my lines, that would be even worse than losing money. I don't want to think about it." Joey has been visiting Ah Gill to see the rehearsal a few times, she reckoned Ah Gill has improved a lot. Joey revealed that she envies Ah Gill who is able to perform on stage, she wanted to do it badly too.

Yay! With school and all I haven't been able to check out all the forums that I wanted, but reading about Gillian's recent sucess just energized me for the day. I'm glad she's doing well. Does she have any dramas or movies coming up? I miss seeing her on the big screen!

Apparently, Gillian's interview on 今日VIP was pushed up to the 27th, hence a lot of fans had missed it. Hopefully, someone had recorded it.

In reference to the discussion from the last page, I'd like to point out that the Pop Queens Concert wasn't exactly a big-scale concert; it was a function sponsored by the Metro Radio Station, as in the next Metro Concert is going to be Andy Lau+Andy Hui+Richie Ren. All in all, both the Pop Queens Concert and the upcoming concert in FoShan are just EEG concerts, with their various singers.

Gillian wasn't part of the Pop Queens Concert, I'd say, for two reasons; one, EEG sure looks like they're using this chance to split Twins up, and even if not, Gillian is still in the testing the waters stage, so it's best to keep her away from Charlene, to avoid any negativity affecting her; and two, a great deal of the criticism towards Gillian regarding the scandal originates from the HK area, and the Pop Queens Concert was in HK. Notice how Gillian's been freely galloping to functions in areas of Mainland and Malaysia, but takes HK functions with enormous caution?

Besides, the concert in FoShan is obviously being used to push Gillian back into the screens of public performances, therefore it makes sense that she's the center of attention in the singer list; just to point out, Vincy, who attended the Pop Queens Concert, is going to the FoShan concert as well, and Anthony Wong is also attending, whilst he was a big name from the previous generation of music fans.

Oy, I'm pretty frustrated with EEG for distancing Gillian from stuff since that scandal was a long time ago, and it was regarding her private life. I think for the most part, one's personal life and work should be kept separate. I get really frustrated thinking about the whole deal, since its not really her fault, I'm sure plenty of people have taken those type of pictures, its their own right and privacy. Gillian had the right to do what ever she wanted in her own time and it was done way before the pictures were released, so people who are still holding it against her are just basically complaining after the fact.

The entertainment industry should just be able the talent and skills artistes can bring onto the stage and although I can be an obsessive fan, and may want my favorite artistes to do certain things, I understand they are their own person and can do what ever they want. I appreciate and enjoy Gillian's talent and hope for her to be able to share it with everyone, but if others are going to only look at that scandal and not true talent I don't think its a very open way of thinking.

I really don't mean to offend others or bring up the topic, but I get really frustrated when I think about how Gillian is being kept in the shadows and not able to work to her full potential. I'm probably spouting a bunch of nothings since she is getting more projects, but I just had to get that off my chest.

Nevertheless, good luck to her in her upcoming play.

AtinaDaAznGurl ... i know we think differently ... but how is it possible that private and work life are kept private when you're in the entertainment industry ... ? yes ... gillian has the right to do what she does in her own time ... yes people take sex photos ... yes you can say the entertainment industry should only be based on talent and skills ... but the truth is it's not ... the majority (imo, probably 80%) is about image and marketing ... everyone knows that ... twins were not the most talented people when they first came out ... but it's all about image and marketing

she is entitled to take those photos and she had for several years while twins were in the business ... but only if she is willing to accept the results if they are to be leaked ... you can't blame the public for reacting the way they did because gillian and anyone would have known that would be the result if those were to be leaked ...

it's about the hypocrisy since every celebrity knows to not take those photos because of the possibility of them being leaked ... yet she took them .... there's no excuse about love is blind because it was mutual, consensual, not forced and she knew the repercussions ... like she knew the possibilitiy of destroying her, charlene and twins' careers if those photos leaked ... so if you still took the photos knowing that ... then you can't cry about the pain when it was brought on yourself, you know ... ?

like i get how all of us gillian fans truly believe or want to say that gillian did nothing wrong and that people should forget about it ... but when i take down my gillian fan status ... i'm really not happy with that decision gillian made and the way she/eeg decided to push the blame on others ... (like she just had a magazine where she flat out said that she doesn't think she's done anything wrong ... but i feel the blame should be shared equally between all parties) and almost ask for pity ... instead she didn't apologize to charlene (she mentioned that maybe once), twins, and fans for stupidly (not naively because that just pushes blame elsewhere) involving in such activites and never suggested to just partially take the blame ...

sally1881, Just to clarify, I agree that the taking of those photos were consensual between Gillian and Edison, both parties agreed, the only blame I put on is maybe Edison and its that he was uncareful enough to keep those photos on his laptop and create on opportunity for them to be released. But otherwise, I feel that they were both victims.

I just feel that its regretful that a lot of the celebrities who were victims to those photos have gotten very bad publicity. I guess its the generation and environment that I've grown up in, in the US that is different from the public in Hong Kong, that makes my viewpoint slightly different and able to swallow things differently than others. I realize everyone has their own viewpoints, I just get frustrated sometimes, when others don't see mine.

But again, I'm probably just blowing smoke, since its obvious Gillian has a lot of support from others at this moment.

Jazz, thanks for the clip. The media made it seem like she needed reminding on each line. This clip tells a different story. Her acting was pretty good and also funny as well. I saw the videos Sally posted but didn't see any part where Gillian was rehearsing for the EEG concert. What was she doing? I think I might of saw a part on youtube where she was dancing but I'm not sure thats related to the concert.

Also, I agree with bxalan regarding the scandal. It long gone so we should lay it to rest. Gillian finally has a full schedule of activities to look forward to. We should focus on the positive and hope for the best.

Honestly, I'm really surprised that EEG is releasing a solo album for Gillian. All along I thought that if Gillian were to work in music again, that it would be under Twins with Charlene. And then after that would she get a chance to have her own album. It seems like there's a really good chance that Twins will be officially split soon, unless they follow F4 and still be a group yet have each member get their own solo albums during different times. OMG! Thanks for the news. My mouth literally dropped. I'm SO shocked, because all along, Mani and Gillian has been saying that Gillian won't be in the music scene this year! And that's going to be for next year. But I'm guessing Mani changed her mind. I'm really exciting and is hoping that this is true. We haven't heard any new songs from Gillian since last Janurary. It's been almost two years!

Well her first plug will be released mid-August/end of August, so it's really not that early in my opinion. If it is released in mid-August, then it's just about two weeks away, so not that long from now. Also, the person who worked with her on "Can You See?" song, 陳少琪 will help in the production of the album and this DJ (may or may not be one anymore) named DJ Mini will help write the lyrics to Gillian's songs (I don't know how many). Also, this will be a full album like Charlene's, so I'm guessing around ten songs? Maybe they'll all be new since there hasn't been any solo songs of Gillian that has been released. Heck, maybe the duet between Gillian and Alex will be released too!

Oh, I meant early as in, her comeback was just in March, and she's already been doing so much things! Haha, well, I guess it's good for fans. I hope the album isn't just all ballads and slow songs. Ok, so the news on Gillian's new album is true. Other sources have said that Mani have confirmed that Gillian WILL be releasing a solo album.

I can't wait! I guess Twins is most likely going to be solo as much as EEG/Mani wants to admit it. Gillian and Charlene are going towards different images. They're most likely not going to be together. Maybe just a function or two during their 10th year, but maybe that's about it. But I DO hope that they might have duets together or concerts together in the future!

I have been following all Gillian’s news especially after the scandal. Gillian or even EEG has NEVER pushed the blame to anyone. I wonder where you got the information from. If you have watched her very first interview, she apologizes to everyone. Besides that interview, she also explained to the reporters that she owes it to Charlene to come forward to apologize to the public too. She is not thinking of herself but of her partner.

Did you watch one of her video when she make her comeback on 10 March 09. She was interviewed by many reporters and she answered in 3 languages. I remembered clearly, she was almost in tears when she said she felt very sorry towards Charlene.

In regards to the photos that was indeed deleted. I wonder where you got the information that his long-term girlfriend vincy asked him to delete them. I also wonder did you watch the CNN Talkasia, I am disgusted by what he said that he was young and he took all those photos for fun. He also said that they were taken prior 2004 and his girlfriend was very upset. I am not saying that he is telling lies. Why don’t you watch the video and analyse it yourself.

1) Photos taken prior to 2004 and he never took any more photos. (How old was girlfriend back then? 15 years old. Isn’t under-aged.
2) His girlfriend was upset. (Why should she, she also pose nude for him so she is aware of the photos.)

Gillian Chung stopped working for a year since the sex scandal was exposed. But since making a comeback in March this year she has had non stop work offers such as advertisements, theatre shows and many public appearances. wow ... gillian releasing a solo album ... i'm really happy for her but i worry that it might be too soon, you know ... ? like she's still getting back on her feet ... not entirely stable yet ... i also worry since i don't think she would release a canto album since her comeback has mainly been in mainland/out of hk since hk is less accepting since the incident ... but then her mando isn't all that great (like the pronunciation and stuttering since she has to think) and twins didn't have as big a fan base in mainland in comparison to hk, you know ... ?

but i guess there's a first for everything right ... eeg must have confidence since they won't do it unless they're sure they'll profit ... right ... ? i wonder what the theme of the album will be ... you know like how charlene's was two missing one ... and if hers will all be slow ballads like charlene's was to reflect how she felt since the incident ... and because gillian doesn't have a really strong voice so i think ballads suit more than fast dance songs ...

but i also guess some twins fans were upset and thought it was unfair for charlene to release a solo album ... and this evens it out ... but i think it's obvious that twins aren't getting back together ... i don't know why mani keeps saying that she doesn't have a clear time frame for when twins reunite ... she's not kidding anyone ... clearly charlene and gillian knew about their solo albums months in advance ... it takes time to compose the song ... gillian's been recording for a bit ... you know? lolz ... i noticed someone in charlene's thread mentioned this ... about what will happen at music awards if charlene and gillian's solo songs compete against each other ... so many things to think about ... lolz ... will be interesting ...

Hey Sally, Good to hear your are a Gillian fan. I agree just because we are her fans don't mean we  have to agree with the way she handles things. Lets agree on this; why don't we drop the scandal subject because its only going to cause tension in the thread. Also, like bxalann mentioned before I think her album will be released in the mainland so I doubt any of Charlene songs will be competeing against Gillian new songs in hk.

EEG must be pleased with the response from Gillian's comeback. That would explain the new album coming at the end of this year. I wonder when they going to release the first single. I'm thinking around September.

I don't think Gillian's new songs will be competing with Charlene's songs for now/when it gets released. Most albums only promote around 3 or so songs, and I think Charlene is either done with promoting 3, or close to being done, so no competition as of right now. The only time there [i]might[i] be competition would be at the end of the year awards. However, if Gillian's album does get released at the end of the year, I don't think that there will be enough time for it to be nominated for awards, so there won't be any competition there either. It might be able to get some awards next year though, so if Charlene releases another album next year, then there might be some competition between them in (of course in terms of album sales and awards, not between them personally).

I am so excited to heard that Gillian able to release her own solo album, I hope the album will success when it release at the end of the year. Is August already can wait for Gillian's musical I nerver seen her act on stage before.
Do anyone know if Gillian will filming any movie this year, I really want to watch her new movie because she have really good acting skill.

I am so excited to heard Gillian singing again I love her voice alot especially she will singing new song I think it going to be good song. About Gillian's musical this is a first time that she will be acting on stage so this is new to her I am looking forward to see her acting on stage, I wish that I can go to her musical to support her but I live in U.S but I always will support Gillian hope she will have a good performent.
Can anyone tell me what is her next project after the musical, I always hope that she able to filming a movie seen Charlene already filming alot of movie this year I want to watch Gillian movie.

Glad to know that there are so many Gillian fans here! Yay! I'm really excited for Gillian's new album. But alot of people are saying that it's too soon, and that it's a stupid move for EEG. But it's obviously not because EEG wouldn't do anytihng they can't benefit from. But I think the only down side to Gillian releasing her own solo album is the possibility that Twins may not reunite. I've been hoping since the scandal broke out when Gill took her leave that Twins would reunite. Hopefully they will. But nonethelss, I will support Gill and her career regardless!
