I was watching Scoop (the big episode, Showbiz Review 2008) yesterday and many said for Best Actress lots of veterans have a chance, because of veterans returning back to TVB and the grand production. It will be hard for a fadan to win next year ..

Isn't it far too early to predict? Half of the series listed at the top haven't even aired yet, and others haven't even started filming. And considering the depressingly low ratings lately, the noms for the other categories seem unlikely, though still entirely possible. It's almost a year until the awards even happen......

It is way too early to predict anything. However, if nothing goes terribly wrong, I think that E.U. will produce solid actors to be nominated for the Best/Most Favorite Actor categories. The trailers look interesting and the Hong Kong audience generally favors cop series. If aired this year, I also think that The Grand Entrepreneur will be a force to be reckoned with, in general. It has a grand plot, along with experienced actors and actresses. As for Wayne, I think he will have a better chance if nominated with his character in Rouge Merchant.

I think that in the nominations for the actors right there with those of Burning Flame 3 and Palace Scheme

A bit early but Michael T's role in EU must get nominated in something. Sammul and Ron too.

I think Michael Tse should get best supporting Male because his role is really good and his acting is great as well

Best Supporting Actor would be Michael Tse for sure. He already set the scale so high, and it's only the beginning of spring. Plus, his character has reached unparalleled popularity. I don't see the likelihood of someone else topping him.

personally I hope that either Michael Mui or Bowie Lam wins best actor because so far i have enjoyed their roles and i think they stole the shows they were in.

Ada really did a break through performance as Jessica... her villian side her nice girl and her greedy side she all showed the different faces Jessica had in gem of life.

as for best series so far I am really undecided haha there hasnt been a drama that sucked me in and made me addicted yet.

I hope Sharon Chan wins something; she was up for 1 or 2 categories before isnt it?

"Laughing Gor" 99% will get the Best Supporting Actor award
and 50/50 chance that TVB may also give him a second award for Most Favourite Character

EU is the highest rated 09 series so far and might get into the final list. However we have to wait till TVB air the other highly anticipated series such as Rosy Business and Palace Schemes.

Ada in GOL is a strong contender for Best Actress but don't forget there's Sheren Tang in Rosy Business + Charmaine and Tavia from Palace Scheme.

I don't know who will win what but i do have a feeling that these actors and actress will win an award or one of their series will be very popular:

Raymond is focusing on his singing career more this year. However I heard his mainland collab series might be aired this year so that he can still get nominated as Best Actor.

TVB will organise TVB's birthday party on Nov 19th 2009. However, not as usual, TVB Anniversary will be held in Dec 2009.

I know its not confirmed yet but Haha, just looked at the list and saw The Winter Melon Tale being nominated for Best Series! If there was a category for worst series then this will win for sure!!

Micheal Tse MUST win an award either for Most improved Actor, Best Character, Best Supporting Role or even Best Actor!! It will be awesome if he wins more than one! He is such a great actor that TVB doesn't really promote him but after his "Laughing Gor" role, I'm sure he'll get more recognition now!!

now, i think that sheren tang and wayne lai can get the tv queen and king because rosy buisness is such a high rating series while supporting can go to michael tse since his character was a sucess, i want ron ng to get the my most favourite male character but the chances are low since in both successful series, he was not the highlight

These are my predictions as well -- however keep in mind that if TVB does decide to postpone the awards show to accomodate the anniversary series ("Born Rich" and "Beyond the Realm of Conscience"), then Wayne and Shereen will have less of a chance at the award, especially with all the competition from the many good actors and actresses in those 2 series...that's why I'm hoping they don't postpone it because I really want Wayne and Shereen to win -- both of them definitely deserve it.

Hopefully Wayne, Sheren and Gigi get an award.

Comments: I like Wayne Lai too but i think it is the character that attracts me more than the acting itself even though he did a great job in portraying chai gau. On the other hand, i thought Bowie in the GOL is simply fabulous and so much more realistic.
Best actress - Sheren Tang
Comments: She has a very unfair loss to Gigi Lai and Charmaine Sheh in 2004 and 2006 respectively, where Yu Fei and Hilda is so much well acted that the characters that Charmaine and Gigi portray. Just simply because she isn't contracted to TVB and that Gigi and Charmaine are TVB "fa dan" which cause her to miss the award is simply ridiculous. This time, i hope she really win it! Her acting as "Sei Lai Lai" is simply fantastic!

Wayne and Michael will definitely win an award at the ceremony, there is no doubt about that, unless TVB wants a rack of complaints. Since Rosy Business did so well this year it will be no surprise if they reward Sheren with Best Actress. However, I think Ada deserves Best Actress award this year with her phenomenal performance in Gem of Life. Too bad Gem of Life wasn't well received so I don't think they will give it to her.

Tvb award ceremonies are always so biased and unfair. They should be more like the HK Film ceremonies, where even unpopular movies could still win awards because of the quality. Tvb awards are given by popularity and how well they like that actor/actress.

If TVB does push the award ceremony to December, then I have a feeling that Shereen will be snubbed again in terms of the best actress award (which sucks because I really want her to win)... even though Tvb says they may push the awards back so that the anniversary series stars will have a "fair chance" at winning an award, I think that's just an excuse to not give the award to Shereen again because she is not contracted to TVB...if you think about it, GOL was the anniversary series for 2008 and it it's in the running this year -- so what's wrong with having this year's anniversary series be in the running for next year's awards? I wouldn't be surprised if TVB gives the award to past winners or their own "fa dans" again this year just because they are popular or are contracted to them (or their contracts are up for renewal)...TVB says this never happens and the award show is always fair -- yeah right...who do they think they're fooling???

I don't think TVB cares about complaints -- they can always use the same response that they do year after year whenever there are complaints (everyone is entitled to their opinion, it doesn't reflect the majority, can't please everyone, blah blah blah)...if they cared, they wouldn't continue to snub well-deserving actors/actresses year after year at the awards shows...just to name a few who were snubbed: Shereen in 2004 AND 2006, Ha Yu in 2007, Bernice in 2007, Kenix in almost every year she was nominated (no wonder she left Tvb, Wayne Lai for the longest time (until he finally one las year)...
