AsianFanatics Forum > Entertainment Center > Hong Kong Entertainment
YoJoe
Personally I remember one called "Lou Yao Gwai Gwai" (Old friend ghost ghost). I was pretty young when that serie aired. Must have been mid 90's or something but I can still remember some fragments of scenes tongue.gif

My favorite and all time great is the "Grand Canal". Felix Wong, Tony Leung, Lawrence Ng, and a bunch of other famous old timers. It was well directed and lots of action. I watched it as a kid and remember it still.
suki.L
Well I remember a little bit of this one series , it was about like vampires who hopped . That's about it , and I think it's pretty old ?
Sarwaah

Mind Our Own Business 《開心華之里》with Michelle Yim is one of my favorites. I liked it a lot because her character's nickname sounded just like my mom's chinese nickname. It was just a family sitcom with a lot of laughs from what I remember.
tvbblock

billphan2007

The condor heroes and return of the condor heroes would probably be one of the most memorable series of all time. Felix, Barbara, Michael, Andy and idy was so young and so good.
apple319
Stephen Chow's Final Combat was very memmorable. his phase "drink a cup of tea, eat a bun, and talk at leisure!" was stuck in my head for ages!!!
cognition
i remember A Road For Heroes (the one with roger kwok, ancient series). I've watched it 3 times over the course of my life already LOL. it was one of the first tvb series i really enjoyed and remembered. XD haha speaking of vampire series, TVB should really make vampire or ghost theme series again like they did it the old times. Something similar to Vampire Expert (with Annie Man and Frankie) does anyone remember that series? XDD Those type of series were cool biggrin.gifD
idontknow
The oldest has to be something condor heroes with Felix Wong as Kok Ching then Andy Lau as Yeung Gor. I have re-watched Andy's for so many times, never get tired of it.
GKnight
I love the series "the New Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre" (1986) with the good acting of Tony Leung in the role of Cheung Mo Kei. It's really awesome!
Stingmisc
for me the return of the condor heroes by andy lau and idy chan.

the best one imho
cowtown
The Legend of the Condor heroes with Barbara Yung and Felix wong. I must have watched it 20 plus times when i was a kid, the was the only thing my grandma watched when she baby sat us, HEHE.
panfried88
My all time favourite: Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils 天龍八部
cutiekhmergirl
The 80's Condor Trilogy always remains to be the most memorable for me but if I'd have to pick one, it'd be Heaven Sword & Dragon Sabre 1986. Almost everything about the series was perfection. Cast, chemistry, costumes/hairstyles, fighting sequences, soundtrack etc.

Blood of Good and Evil is my all-time favorite! I fell in love with the Deric and Maggie pairing ever since than.
.sugarhearts
The series that leaves me the deepest impression is Happy Ever After. Bobby was hilarious & I remember Nnadia was so pretty in the series.

haa haa it should be the legend of the condor heroe with Andy Lau, of course I think the original one is far better than the newer version, just far too many hi-tech stuff being used in the series.

Bravo clapping.gif ! I have an alliance here. Me too. That's my forever TVB series with best screenplay, best director, best casting and best picture too thumbsup.gif . I've seen it more than 4 times and still feel eager to watch it again.

Absolutely agree!! I love most of the series from the 80's and 90's (I'm an old school girl).

thumbsup.gif

One of my favorites (can't say THE favorite because there are too many that I like) is "The Breaking Point" with Leon, Kathy, Deric, and Maggie....I've seen this series so many times that I practically have it memorized (that's how I knew exactly which scenes they cut out of the VCD version). At the time, the 4 of them were the hottest actors/actresses in TVB...I actually didn't know until recently that "The Breaking Point" was produced by the same person who produced the "Forensic Heroes" series (Mui Siu Ching).

Yes I also remember this family sitcom. My mum love it a lot and we use to watch it together when I was younger. There are also a couple of series I remember and loved. The Legend of the Condor Heroes (old version) and Blood of Good and Evil with Deric Wan and Maggie Siu in it but don't remember who is in the first one. sweat.gif

My faves are Blood of Good & Evil for modern drama category and New HSDS 1986 for ancient/wuxia serie. Love the characters so much, Hou Nam-Yiming. Also the on-screen couple, Tony Leung-Kitty Lai as Wuji-Zhao Min.

80's series:

The Other Side of the Horizon: Andy and Lawrence : simply heart-wrenching
The Duke of Mount Deer: Andy and Tony ( an obvious classic )
The Condor Heroes: Felix, Barbara, Michael ( another obvious classic )
The Blood-Stained Intrigue such an underrated series

thumbsup.gif Dont you agree that 80s and 90s TVB series are way like way better than TVB drama today ? Have you watch the "Winter water melon thingy " OMG is horrible HORRIBLE " and " A bridge for a ride " Are just absolute shocked.gif ly horrible disappointed on sammul chan on that one.....
ChubbyChicken
For me, probably:
Secret of the Heart
Golden Faith
DIF3 (it helps that I've seen it like 5 times 'cause it just kept replaying every year @_@)
Journey to the West (grew up watching it)
Armed Reaction (1-3 especially 1 'cause my grandma had the tapes so I just kept playing it every time I was there =O, 4 not so much)
That series with Alex Fong and Faye Wong where they were searching for eternity (the guy that always put the bell thingy around the girl's ankle really freaked me out =O, still too scared to watch it to this day >_>).
A Kindred Spirit (Goddamn that was one long thing, lasted for what, like 5-6 years(?) and it recently rebroadcast where I live...heh like 10ish years of my life spent watching it)
Lastly, the series with Gordon Lam and Kathy Chow, the title kinda slipped my mind though.

Absolutely...I've posted about this elsewhere as well....let's put it this way -- in the 80's and 90's, out of 10 series that aired, I would say at least 8 of them were good / memorable...nowadays, I would be lucky to find 2 good ones (out of 10)...

In terms of Wintermelon Tale, as much as I like watching Sunny Chan (I just think he is an awesome actor), I also thought the series was a little ridiculous...leave it up to TVB to put Sunny in these types of roles...what a terrible way to treat such a great actor...

As for Bride for a Ride, I refuse to watch such "wu nao" series...

classic
Condor Trilogy
The Duke of Mount Deer
Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils
Secret of the Heart
A Kindred Spirit
The Grand Canal
The Bund
Cold Blood Warm Heart
Old Time Buddy
The Greed of Man
Looking Back in Anger
The Breaking Point
The Foundation

Haha worship.gif Yeah Very true ......I look it up the old drama ..( Time before Time ) the rating was 47 ...wow I never knew that at all.......I mean If you look through TVB drama like the recent one ...you wont see 47 that much all the drama . well expect the recent year where MR is out and reach to 50 And you'll notice that Rosy Bossiness , Born Rich and even beyond the realm of conscience have the same theme as MR does Like Fighting between Family , revenge between family , Friend there were a lot of similarity .....of those drama whom rating is good is because they copies the freakin theme... of MR i guess... loool.gif If you disagree then who care ,,,LOL

I loved the Condor Heroes series, i loved them so much i have the whole set, and watched it quite a bit of times too...

I believe this is the 2nd version the 1995 or so version, which i think is the best version so far..

and what makes it more memorable in my opinion is that the main actress died so young, (in real life), so tragic sad.gif

you mean the 95 version with Carmen Lee and Louis Koo. Carmen is having good life and quite famous in China now.
and if you mean of of the main actresses in Condor Trilogy who died young, it s Barbara Yung. However, it s 82 version of The Legend of the Condor Heroes.

Carmen is taking a break from filming now. However, she is happy with her bf. I remember early 00s, she was very famous in China, and was voted as one of top 5 ancient beauty actress at all times

I can honestly say I remember the series File of Justice. That was an awesome and classice series. I also remember Feminine Masculinity. That was probably the most unique storyline to me. The actors made the series a classic one
