I'm not duplicating another similar thread but a new fresh topic. Majority AF members says it's older generation better in acting but now let's compare in singing term. I believe many TVB artistes have released their own albums. So what do you think? Younger generation better in singing term or older generation?

young generation for me.
I don't know how many old actors from TVB have released their album but I know Gallen lo and louis loo have released their album. Their singing aren't good at all. Mr.Cool sung by louis koo is terrible. I've never really heard all Gallen's song but his song is better than louis but not much better. Last time, I did not see their album was selling everywhere too. Deric Wan released an album too, am i right? His song is pretty okey for me.
Young generation has better voice and their songs are much better. I can randomly pick few TVB singers that better than louis and gallen. Raymond is for sure one of them and second is bernice. Their song are nicer and you can see their album or hear his song playing at everywhere. Raymond's standard has reached singer standard for me because his song can be heard at restaurant or shopping mall just like other singer's song such as Janice Vidal, Joey, Twins and other Tw singers.
Myolie's song are not bad but I still can't hear anyone plays her song at shopping mall or restaurant. Just give her some time, I believe she is catching up.

Let me get this right? You're talking about TVB actors and actresses turning into singers?
Oh okay.
I think the younger generation, I'm talking about
Raymond, Bernice, Bosco, Myolie and Linda. Soon there's going to be Kate as well.

I'm not particularly happy with that but anyways, I don't know much people that are in the older generation who has become a singer as well as an actor. I know
Kevin, Wong Hei, Louis has and yes, their not really good at singing and it seems like they have stopped releasing albums? I hope that happens to some of the new singers lately too. Just an experience? Not really a singer? But I do hope
Fung continues to sing.

I like his singing.

I like Myolie's too but her voice is kind of ... I can't really explain but it's quite unique. As for
Bernice, I like her singing and hope she releases an album soon. Tbh, I like
Bosco much more as an actor than a singer. I don't know why but Bosco's image to me seems more like an actor. He's so much more better at acting!

please don't compare the old and young generation of TVB artist because the young generation have no chance in conversation with them. Maybe Raymond will get there and i don't see anyone else

I think young generation have more potential in singing term. I don't think any old actors can sing.
I don't think young generation have nothing to compare with old generation either. Their acting is good? Well, they did so many series. Their series had good air rating? What happen to now? Their rating aren't good either such as The gem of life and what cat and dog series.
I don't think it's right to push all the blame to the young one because now japan, korean and TW entertaiment industry are strong. Old generation were lucky because they got no competitor at all. If they still haven't retired i think it got no different at all. LEt's take an example: last time we only got KFC for fast food shop so we got no choice to go KFC but now? We got pizza hut, domino, mcdonald and etc.
It's just my opinion, no offense to anyone think old generation is better.

Depending on what you mean by "old actors." There are the oldies in Adam Cheng, Liza Wang, Andy Lau, etc. Then there are the older-than-now generation in Gallen Law, Flora Chan, Nick Cheung, etc.
Regardless, the oldies are untouchable.

To those who chose the younger ones better. In my opinion there's 2 older ones that are really fab singers and no youngster could match them (well maybe Raymond Lam). Nnadia Chan and Julian Cheung. Now that's singing sensations!! Who dares to disagree?

I found this clip with Nnadia and Julian singing together at Leslie Cheung Memorial Concert held last year

Well... I choose the older generation... Have you ever heard how the new generation sing in LIVE...... I'm sorry,, but you must say allot of them is terrible :S
But on the other hand some of them can sing for real and you can hear that too...!!! (Raynmond Lam)
And it's weird to see how actors/ actress become a "singer"?
BTW: totally agree with Kim4ever.....

Julien Cheung and Andy Lau are probably the best singers to come out of TVB. But then, I think Chilam was a singer before he was an actor, I don't really remember. I know Tony Leung used to sing too, but I don't remember if he was any good. Of the new ones coming out, the only I see with even any potential to be a decent singer is Raymond Lam, and even he's got limited vocal range. Of course, Andy Lau was a horrible singer when he first started too, so it really goes to show that all it takes is dedication to your art.

I think the older generation singers are better singers since they have more experience but the younger generations arent bad like Raymond Lam. I really like his songs. Kevin cheng and Ron Ng are also very good. (:

^Hehe, Kevin cheng isn't bad but I don't think he should be mentioned as one from the "younger generation"
I mentioned Nnadia and Julian as the older generations and they are younger than Kevin!!!
PS I hope you guys enjoyed that link to a clip I posted above in my earlier comment!
I heard Julian will be recording a new album this year, so I can't wait for that!!!!

Ooh this is a difficult one, people may like the younger singer cos' of their look but it doesn't mean all can sing, with the older ones, younger people won't even listen to them co's of their age but I do think they are better. They have more experiences and they know how to handle difficult situation.

The younger generation.
I don't know any older generation who went into singing but I think the younger gen has more potential. I'm talking about Raymond Lam. He's a great singer. Even though he's been in the music industry for 2 years, he already had his concert at the HK Coliseum. He already has 2 albums and 1 EP. I own all of them and I think he's great. Myolie Wu has a good voice... I guess. It depends on the song she's singing but I think she's got potential! I haven't heard Bernice sing so no opinions. Linda... she needs more practice. She's not good at singing live. Eh, her singing is average. I wonder if her 2nd album will be huge improvements. Kate... I've only heard one song- Hit Me. She sounds okay if not good. She hasn't release an album yet, right? I'll have to see. Well, in conclusion, I think the younger generation has potential in singing.

http://www.nnadia.com/chillout/chongqing/Absolutely agree! Julian is one of my favorites - he has a nice voice and his singing is really good. (Love his theme song to "Remembrance"). As for Nnadia, I'm not a huge fan, but her singing is quite good --you have to be if you're going to sing opposite Jacky Cheung in Snow Wolf Lake like she did :-)
To compare between the old veterans and the newbies, I will say the old singes have such high quality voices that the newbies do not have such as Alan Tam, Hacken Lee, Eason Chan, Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, Sammy Cheng, Anita Mui, etc. They are legends in the music industry.
