Taiwan version
Shan Cai , F4( Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Xi Men, and Mei Zuo)
Japan version

Makino Tsukushi, F4 (Domyoji Tsukasa,Hanazawa Rui,Nishikado Sojiro,Mimasaka Akira)
korea version
Geum Jan-di, F4 (Goo Joon-pyo, Yoon Ji-hoo,So Yi Jung, Song Woo-bin)

i Love All Version...bcus it's every version have their own streght BUT :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After finish watching all 3 Version , No doubt that Taiwan & Korean F4 is the hottest. Japan F4 is still okey...
Inoue Mao was definitely the best Makino. She was strong and tough and i love SanChai charisma. JanDI uhh...for those someone who haven't seen Japan Version they must said that JanDi is the best.....nope not for me i just see JanDi character is weak, dumb, always in tears....makes the character...looks...weird..her face mimic....seem go wrong....hated Jandi character. Sorry, Ko Hye Sun, your acting still didn't work out. your are pretty but still not prefect to be JanDi.
Jerry and JunPyo is charming and have a great looking. Doumyouji is the ugliness among 3 of them. I love Jerry. JunPyo for me look lose just like JanDi character. and Doumyouji, 1stly when i watch Japan version i hated Doumyouji so much bcus the cruelness he been. Have a heart like a stone, arrogant, bad attitude, and stupid look. For look i still prefer Jerry & JunPyo, but for the best character i'm prefer Doumyouji more...the cruel and the ugliness makes Doumyonji charecter fun to watch. that stupid look makes this character strong and special....thanks for Makino for makes the cruel, ugly & stupid Doumyouji being a good guys after all
i prefer Hanazawa Rui then Jihoo...Hanazawa Rui is look more coolest then JiHoo
No chemistry between Jan Di and Jun Pyo. Jan Di and F4 the still have a hole.....but thanks to Soeul....without this couple i think i can't watch this series till the end....the best among the best....i love Kim Bum and Kim So Eun chemistry just love Yuki & Sujiro. but Yuki & Sujiro...just end up with nothing. it's seem that Sujiro keep running from Yuki. this Soeulmates makes this Version more colorful and fun. Now, i'm the big fan of this couple. Their acting is so damn good....without a word i still can feel the love....how great is that...
In other side, graphic, environment, production in 3 different version....i prefer more to Korea version...with a fresh look and brand new.
After all...
Japan is the best version. bcus have the strong main character. I love more the strong Makino then the warm blood JanDi and the pretty SanCai.i love the ugliness, cruel and arrogant Doumyouji then the charming Junpyo & Jerry and the coolest Hanazawa Rui.
Korean- what makes korean version special it is bcus Soeulmates and the latest technology, and the best story line. In korean version i prefer Jihoo & JanDi will be together then Junpyo & JanDi.
Taiwan, of cause one the best in 1999 but the time have run out...i just keep Taiwan version as the best memory. if is not because of this meteor Garden phenomenal i think their no Hana Yori Dango & Boys Over flower these day.

I haven't seen the Japanese version yet..so I can't comment on that
But honestly, I don't think i'll ever watch it because the Japanese F4 isn't all that great looking, IMO
So between the Taiwanese and Korean versions, I LOVE the Taiwanese one SO much more!
Even though I think the Korean F4 are better looking, the Taiwanese version is much more touching and deeper
And on top of that, Jerry and Barbie's kissings scenes are hotter xD

Have yet to catch up on the latest Korean episodes so no comparison can be done. But I like some parts that I've seen so far.
First love was MG because it's the "mother" of Taiwanese idol dramas. Plus, it hit hard in Asia. It's more romantic and I really, really like the scene of Shancai crying in MG2 when she realized that she probably wasn't going to ever see DMS again. That was touching. Another scene that made me teary-eyed was in the first season where she gets kicked out of her house and he leaves like a million messages on her phone. She listens to them and he shows up in front of her. Kind of wish they had that in the Japanese version...but then, this makes the TW one more romantic.
However, I still prefer the Japanese version. Its cast, cinematography and pace of the drama won me over. The Japanese F4 may not look attractive at first sight (unless you're a fan of one of the members) but they really grow on you. Also, I think Inoue Mao makes a better Makino than Barbie. I cannot put "spunky Makino" with "Barbie" at all but I can do that for Inoue Mao. And yes, Jun-kun not might be as tall as the rest of F4 but I think he fitted the role. To me, Domyouji seems more of a sadist and Jun-kun is considered to be one. Therefore, it was very easy for him to grasp the fierceness of the character. When he needed to be childish, he got that done as well (probably because he's been around Aiba Masaki for too long, haha).
For the character of Rui, I'm stuck between Vic and Shun-kun. They're equally good.
To me, it doesn't matter how many versions they're going to produce, the Taiwanese and Japanese ones will always be the most memorable. It's been three years since HYD first aired and I've been watching it once (or sometimes more) a year religiously 'cause it's that good.

The japanese one for me. I dont find the korean f4 any hot compared to f4 in HYD. The japanese one give such a good feelings and the girl who played in HYD is cute and suit her character.
Rui in HYD is more handsome than the taiwanese and korean version.
1.Japanese (the best)
2.Meteor garden
3.korean
I dont like the korean version, sorry people, I just cant find the girl any pretty or the boys either.

I didn't watch the tw version, for some reason i didn't like F4 back then.
Between the Jap and Korea version.
Korea's F4 are pretty boys for sure

no doubt. So in terms of looks, Korea's F4
I prefer the chemistry between makino and domyoji. Something between jandi and junpyo is missing and is bothering me.
Jihoo is boring, i prefer hanazawa rui<3
yijung and gaeul are the main reason why i watch BOF. HYD didnt have a happy ending for sojiro and yuki

i guess its a tie.

Yap I totally agree with you. I just have finish watching Korean Version Eps 13. I still didn’t feel the love between Jandi and JunPyo. It’s not like the way I’m feel about Makino and Domyunji…full of feeling....
Jandi for me , Firstly when I watch Korean Version, the way she dress, her hair and look just like Nodame….wearing red coat make me wonder are they wanna make the character just like Nodame? Please don’t….
Maybe after this I watch it bcuz yijung and gaeul too…Hana Yori Dango.. Final didn’t make up with anything between Yuki and Sojiro..i just hope Korean Version will make a different…I hope Soeul will make up as a couple…..

Hana Yori Dango was not my first jdorama but I completely fell inlove with it. It was not an instant liking of the drama, but the way the story unfolded was really good. My initial reaction to the F4? they were NOT good-looking. So it was quite an amazement that these ordinary looking characters were able to make me appreciate them and the whole hana yori dango series. Don't get me wrong, HYD is not perfect. Loads of loopholes in the adaptation too but it's something that can be overlooked.
I am now watching ep 15 of BBF and I find myself quite frustrated. HYD is quite a simple story. Am sure the Korean counterpart is milking it for what it's worth but it's starting to get a bit draggy. Anyway, here's what's frustrating me about BBF.
- Koo Hye Sun as Jan Di. It's not Koo Hye Sun personally, am not even saying she's not pretty because she is pretty, but Koo Hye Sun and Jan Di? NOT WORKING. She looks at a loss most of the time. I can't figure out if the producers want her to appear dumb or what but the thing is, Makino is not dumb. Makino is a strong character. Seriously, I find Jan Di annoying. I can think of loads of Korean actresses who could have done a better "Jan Di" role.
- I think that the producers put so much weight on creating the pretty F4 that they deliberately toned down on Jan Di. Now, Jan Di can't balance the overwhelming effect of F4.
- Shun is not as handsome as the guy who plays Ji Hoo. But Shun was perfect for Rui. Again, I am not sure what the producers are thinking, but too many emotional moments for Ji hoo. It's almost gay.
- A university set up of the adaptation would have been more appropriate. The main characters don't look like high school students.
- No chemistry between Jan Di and Jun Pyo. Come to think of it, not even with Jan Di and Ji Hoo. BBF is quite strong in showing that there is indeed competition between Jun Pyo and Ji Hoo over Jan Di but they can't fully show why these two guys are after Jan Di, not when Jan Di appears to be just a damsel in distress that always needs rescuing. Jan Di's character is too weak to have garnered their respect in terms of character strength.
Why do I still watch it? It is still a HYD adaptation. Except for Jan Di, BBF is ok. In fact it's really good. Secondary characters were perfect. Jun Pyo's mom, Jun Pyo's sister, Shizuka's counterpart, Ga Eul,(of course! methinks the lady playing Ga Eul could have done Jan Di's role justice), shigeru's countrpart, Shizuka's counterpart, Jan Di's weird family. The mix and match of the twist in the story was great too. Oh, and Ga Eul and Ji Yung's love team is worth watching. Hope they'll end up together in this version. The whole thing is not bad ..it's just that it's ironic that the supposed heroine of the story is quite irritating. It would have worked if there were no Shancai or Makino prior to Jan Di, unfortunately .... .
Oh, and the Hana Yori Dango soundtrack is simply elegant. Pop Arashi tunes for the opening .. Planetarium and Flavor of Life on love scenes ... Tasteful background music by Yamashita Kousuke. Almost Paradise?!

I have to say it's a toss-up between HanaDan and Meteor Garden (1).
Hanayori Dango killed it. Inoue Mao did a great job, and so did the Japanese F4. They offered a different kind of charm without completely relying on their looks. It was short, but the plot was still well-delivered. The ending was absolutely one of the best endings I've ever seen.
Meteor Garden = First Love. Heck, they started this craze. Whenever I watch it now it feels kind of outdated, but the good memories are still there. It definitely left a good impression on me.
With the Korean version...it's ok, I guess. It's fine. I got addicted to the first few episodes, but sadly it's getting a bit draggy -- I mean, this a common fate when it comes to K-dramas. And I don't know with Junpyo, is it just me or do I feel that he got really popular because he oddly resembles Dao Ming Si? Lee Minho is good, sure. But he completely pales in comparison with the likes of MatsuJun and Jerry Yan. And oh, don't get me started with the one who played Jihoo. It was disappointing. Shun wasn't that good-looking, but man. What he did was amazing.
This is one of my problems with K-dramas. They tend to completely rely on good looks that it swallows the essence of the story. The Korean F4 was really good looking...but then what? It's not the only thing that's important. Jandi was ok. And lol, the only thing that I'm looking forward to is Ga Eul's story.
Lol, I literally ranted about the Korean version. It's good, but definitely not the best.

Hana Yori Dango already have four version and I even heard that Philipines might wanna do it to and this will make HYD have 5 different version. But I believe there must be one version that you love the most.
if it was me..
I love Japanese version better .
The reason is : it has the natural value and the cast mesmerizing me.
After all, this was originate from Japanese managa am I right ??

Talking about Inoue Mao..she's the best. Look so pure and innocent but strong and firm at the same time. And the way she act was not too over acting and too much...
she's natural~~~
and so do others F4.

I love their friendship bonding but Taiwanese followed them closely too.
that was my opinion. How about you ?
i love Japanese version...it is due to inoue mao character...makino tsukushi...i love her character in HYD...
INOUE MAO LOOKS SO CUTE...!!!
and for F4 character, i would say that japanese and korean...
THE BOYS ARE SO HOT...!!!

3 Versions of "Boys Over Flowers" PK; Netizens love the Japanese "Shan Cai" [Makino Tsukushi] and the Taiwanese F4 the most
Source : Epochtimes
translation by MoonlightD @
http://asianfanatics.netEastday.com reports on March 3rd: The Korean version of "Boys Over Flowers" is still airing. However, enthusiastic netizens voted for the Netizen's choice of best actor lineup amongst the three Taiwanese, Korean, and Japanese versions of "Meteor Garden". After two months of PK, the outcome has been decided. Netizens still like the Japanese "Shan Cai" and the Taiwanese F4 the most.
The Japanese "Shan Cai" was the most expressive
Inoue Mao came in first with 3,750,000 votes. Even though her looks are not exceptional, she expressed "Shan Cai" tenacious personality vividly. Right after her is the beautiful long-haired Da S.
The Taiwanese "Dao Ming Si" has most popular support
Jerry Yan [Yan Cheng Xu] came in first with 1,200,000 votes. Even though Matsumoto Jun is not as tall and handsome as Jerry Yan, he most exemplified the original character. He had the best acting, the best imposing manner, and has the support of many fans. As a result, Lee MinHo has also been popular this whole way.
The Taiwanese "Hua Ze Lei" was the most beautiful
ZaiZai is the "Hua Ze Lei" that even the original manga artist, Yoko Kamio approved of. He came in first with 1,140,000 votes. Oguri Shun and Kim Hyun Joong were equal with only a few votes difference.
Out of every version of "Xi Men", Ken Zhu [Zhu Xiao Tian] came in first
Ken Zhu's "Xi Men" came in first with 610,000 votes. Even though he has gotten fatter to turn into a "steamed bun face", back in those days, his gentle look was classic. On the other hand, Kim Bum was called the most handsome "Xi Men" by the netizens.
Out of every version of "Mei Zuo", the Taiwanese version was the most loved
Vanness Wu [Wu Jian Hao] came in first with 290,000 votes. Because Abe Tsuyoshi is is mix of Chinese and Japanese, he received more attention.

Inoue Mao was definitely the best Makino. She was strong and tough. She wasn't really pretty physically (not the supermodel type pretty) but she grew more beautiful because of her awesome portrayal of the character.
MatsuJun carried Doumyouji for me pretty well. He had the arrogance and the spoiled brat thing right down to a pat. I think he also did the best stupid look or he actually looked innocent when he says the stupid things.. Jerry and MinHo sounded scripted when they do that. Also, the maniacal laugh he does when he thinks of Makino. Awesome. Mostly though, because I really felt that he loved makino. Like deep, I-will-do-anything-even-die kind of love for Makino. The others fell in love too but not really the one-great-love-story kind of thing. But admittedly, MinHo looks more like Doumyougi than Jun.
Kim Bum definitely delivered Yi Jung or Soujirou the best. I think the writers created a better character for him than the Taiwanese or the Japanese ones.
Akira: I like how the jap personalized him the most. He had his backstory and his purpose in F4. Unlike the other versions where you felt they were excess baggage. Although, i think Vaness did a great job just that there wasn't a lot to work on.
Lei/JiHoo/Rui is definitely the hardest to decide on. They all brought different things to the character and they all portrayed them well. Although, I have to admit, I fell for JiHoo. I think its the first time i actually rooted for this character to win in the end (although Jandi is not god enough to touch his shoes). Shun was really really good.. I like how he gave up on Makino as soon as Doumyougi begged. And I like how he always looks like he knows something more than the other characters. Vic got the eccentric, outsider thing perfectly. You felt Lei's quirkiness etc. So its a tie.
Overall, for me Jap version is the best because of the awesome chemistry among all the characters. And man, the chairman was someone to be scared of. Plus, i like how the episodes flowed one to the other. No dragging moments and they all actually connected. The Taiwanese was ok but definitely got outshone by the jap. they improved on al the lacking parts. The korean spent so much on production and didn't really develop the script or the characters.
Although SoEul (korean version) was definitely the best side story. I reckon, they should have been the major roles in the korean version. hehe.

as of now, i would say the TW version. i watched the J-version.. it's not bad. the K-version, I havent yet, I usually wait til the whole set is out, then id watch it.
i'd say TW version because, it is the first version that I watch of MG. and the first impression always lingered around your mind. LOL. but the JP version is not bad.. it's kinda fun to watch another set of actors and actresses to portray the characters all over again..
i heard a lot of raves reviews for the K version, can't wait til it wraps up so i can watch it. LOL. i don't like to get hang by the end of every chapter.. haha

JAPAN VERSION FTW!!!

Even though I do agree that the Korean F4 cast is the most handsome, but their acting was pretty mediocre, and there was really no chemistry between Jun-Pyo and Jandi whatsoever!

Plus GHS kinda ruined Makino for me.. she didn't look the part, and she was too exaggerated.
And I basically hated the entire Taiwan version.. both parts.
But for the Japanese version.. wow. Its the only one among the three where I can actually watch it over and over. The chemistry between Jun and Mao was amazing, Oguri Shun was the perfect Rui, and everything was basically
What I do like better about the korean version though.. is that it explored Sojiro and Yuki's (Yi Joo & Ga Eul) relationship much more than the previous versions

they were my favourite couple in the show.

Admittedly, I fell for Boys Over Flowers when I first watched it, but then the show became increasingly annoying. Koo Hyesun's portrayal of Jandi was ridiculous. Her exaggerated facial expressions and her dumbness was a complete turnoff. The chemistry between F4 and Jandi was not there. They seemed very awkward around each other. The only thing worth commending is the SoEul couple. Their storyline was much more developed in Boys Over Flowers than in Hana Yori Dango.
I haven't watched the Taiwanese version, and I most likely won't. So I can only say that between the Korean and Japanese versions, I prefer the Japanese.
In HYD, the pacing was nicely done. The plot came together and the episodes flowed seamlessly, which is more than I can for the Korean one. Makino was more likable than Jandi, and I prefer Domyouji over Junpyo. Domyouji had a child-like aura that matched well with his background. On the other hand, Junpyo was very mature, and when the situation required comedy relief, he supplied it, which seemed out of character.
The wealth of F4 as displayed in both versions were also different. HYD was less conspicuous than BOF. Domyouji's house gave the feeling of the old rich. His kind of wealth was more toned down and refined. Junpyo's house, with its lavish gold furniture, was very conspicuous and flashy, which I thought was very arrogant. Personally, I prefer HYD's portrayal of wealth more than that of BOF.

Id prefer meteor garden as the best. The story and plot is more captivating the the other versions. Its true that the the japanese and korean version came into spotlight but the MG craze hit was waaaaaaay popular & loved all over asia (more than the K & J versions). That is why there's the remake of it. Nothing beats the original ! ( not the mannga ok? )
Jerry had the charisma all over him (sure jun pyo was hot but he wasnt as good as DMS in terms of portraying the role) . And the chemistry btw DMS and Sanchai is stronger than the korean version ( most people were anticipating for the ga eul and ee jung love story) isnt that funny? Jun pyo didnt really seemed as tho hed figth for Jandi as much as DMS would. I couldnt really say anything about the japanese ones since it left no impression on me. but props to t the story and acting it was really good but not as phenomenal as MG.
others says Korean bc people like to see eye candy things. WIth their nice scenery, expensive clothes, cars, everything, good looking actors & stuff but the plot missed a whole lot. bUT THINk of it, Mg was made 2001 so its 8 years apart. So obviously the show would not be relevant specially with technology & clothing since it was back then. But if ud see MG in year 2001 ud prolly think that theyre clothing & cp were the best bc that would be the latest during those days. do u get it? Or theyd say K version bc it was just aired recently.. common its still on the limelight.
in terms of the story. The Korean version didnt paid any attention to the gansta one of F4 which totally missed the concept of F4 strong 'friendships". Its as if he was just there. Then Jun Pyo always lets her mom in the way. DMS was rather very stubborn to pursue sanchai. And everyone of the F4 in Taiwanese got to show their own character & personalities in MG. Including that they really look liked their friendship was solid. Unlike in K version its more of yeah were friends. and? & also kim bum is soooo hoot but some of his acting is so awkward

esp when his mad.
MG had the tight budget doing the drama but it ended up being glamorously love so Mg with lo or hi budget still beat the others.
So yeah it isnt just the looks & flashy glamorous things. MG wasnt as extravagant but they nailed it. The other version wont be as good as the original.sure Others will have the limelight for some time & eventually will fade but MG would always be classical and all time favorite

I watched the HYD anime first then I watched HYD the drama later
I can say I Love it , I fall in love with Rui and Doumyouji also Jun Mustomo and Ogrui Shun are not a pretty boys And I really like Makino I cried and laughed with her
Later My friend recommened MG so I start watching it after while I couldn't bear watching the ridiculous babrie xu She is so ugly and fake Also F4 in tawain version are GOOd Too but that weman is so irritating character OH MY GOD I really hate her , Sorry for her Fans
so eventaully I force my self contunie watching it untill I finish it
the stroy line is boring ( I felt like that not because it is out of date but because the writer putting too mush plots not related to the stroy line )
But to tell the truth the stroy line in MG is way better and stronger then BBF story
BBF like all korean drama depand on the acters good looks
the F4 in BBF are so Handsome but Rediculous in the same time and that girl (main lead ) she is stupid not hard working girl as she suppose to be ...also BBF is uptodate Story and it is nice to watch it , so fashionable too
It will be good to watch BBF And people will enjoy it if they didn't watch HYD or MG first
so I think If I had to choose in order I will choose
1- HYD
2- MG 1&2
3- BBF
Definitely the Japanese version, for me.;D
The chemistry of the cast in the Japanese version is absolutely awesome, and the entire drama/movie totally captured my attention.
For the Taiwanese version, simply spoken, I'm not a fan of F4.
But I agree, the storyline is definitely better than the Korean version.
I used to be rather alright with the Korean version, but I'm starting to get rather annoyed with it.
For me, it's getting overrated. Totally.
And truthfully, I don't exactly find the Korean F4 all that handsome/good-looking/cute.

Japanese!
Taiwan... I used to love it. Until MGII came out, which ruined both the first and the second one for me. I hated how Jerry looked so wooden in his acting, and how Ken's character was totally not given any spotlight at all! And ShanCai was totally not suited.
Korean... sure, the boys are prettier, but I don't see whats the hype. Jandi kicks instead of punches? She's supposed to be wearing a skirt for her uniform, how is a girl supposed to kick in a skirt? And Junpyo looked way too soft. Jihoo... >.< Lets just say I prefered Rui better.
In HYD though, even if Jun was shorter then most Doumyouji, he carried off the role so convincingly, that I almost couldn't believe it when I saw MatsuJun so DoS outside of HYD. And he gave the character life itself, not to mention Mao-chan was adorable playing Makino.

For me, it's definitely
HANA YORI DANGO all the way!

I love the casts much more, they're more talented, lovable, appealing, and in my perspective, the actors portrayed their characters to the most accuracy compared to the casts of the other versions. There's also wonderful chemistry between all the Japanese casts, which I think is very important. I also favor their overall setting, costumes and props etc, as these are the important aspects giving the viewers the impression that 'F4' are wealthy and powerful like they are suppose to be, they enhance the image and reputation of wealth, power and influence to these characters, hence displays a more convincing impression.
And the story of HYD was well composed and flowed more consistently.
HYD is one of my fav all-time dramas.
Ok, so many consider MG a 'classic' and some people will forever favor it the most, it's understandable...but, it's too draggy for me and the acting from the casts were appalling...although I don't blame the casts for that as they were obviously mere amateurs at the time in comparison...but still, we judge from their performance, and they weren't good, mediocre at best for some of them, and the portrayals of their characters didn't really hit the mark, they were also much less likable for me, especially Barbie and Jerry (no offense to their fans)...and I don't like the setting and props, much too humble for the characters of 'F4', thus giving the viewers a much less convincing impression...although again, I can't blame the production team as they were on a budget and after all, taiwan doesn't have the kind of wealth to splash like Japan does.
Finally BOF (or is it BBF? don't really know)...well, I was never really content about this version from the very beginning as I always thought 2 different drama versions is already enough. But I did still gave it a go at least...I watched the first few eps and gave up, I just couldn't get into it, and the Korean Domyoji annoyed me much the same way as Jerry did, but not as much as the female lead, she's perhaps the worst version of Makino...yet...frankly, her portrayal of Jan Di was the main reason I gave up watching after the first few eps...it took much encouragement from others before I had the courage to watch the rest of the drama...which I did, but I still couldn't get into it, and none of the casts really appealed to me...although I did quite like the korean version of Yuki, Ga Eul, I think that's her name...I can't help but have this impression that they had switched the characters of Ga Eul and Jan Di, because I saw much more characteristics (personality, physical appearance) of Makino in Ga Eul, than Jan Di...the actress who portrayed Ga Eul was the main reason I managed to finish the drama...Jan Di on the other was the biggest let-down for me, not only was she not convincing, she was also annoying. I think both actresses should've just switched roles.
The korean "F4" were quite decent in comparison, more tolerable, but still neither of them were appealing to me.
Overall, my favorite is definitely Japan's HYD!

MG and BOF/BBF are both tied for me, I don't know which one I favor among these 2, since I don't really like either of them.

[b] i totally agree!
[b]Meteor garden all the way. not because i am a big fan of jerry yan. but i am deeply hooked by meteor garden. i can totally feel the love of dao ming zs towards san chai and the brotherhood they have among the f4.
korean f4 are all cute but taiwan f4 are handsome and hot! especially jerry yan...
as for the japanese version, i havent watched it. it's not shown here in the philippines...
of course ! nO MATTer what, MG starterd it all. And out of the three MG had waaay more popularity wave than any of the other versions. its true. Havent you heard the news lately even till now all F4 and the leading lady Barbie Xu are on top of their career still, and has kept their momentum, being the most higly paid entertainer in Taiwan and VERY well loved and known all over asia. Especially did i mention Jerry Yan with his new album, already sweeping down asia.

my opinion as follows :
1) If see from the story , the best is HYD japan , since the story more the same with the manga
2) if see from the cast
* dao ming tse / domyouji / goo jun pyo --> i like all coz i like this character the most and for me all actors who played this ( jerry , matsumoto jun , lee min ho ), instead of their strength and weakneses , all can delivered the character well ,they can built the character with their own way
* san chai / makino / jan di --> i like makino the best , she able to deliver the character very well , mao really suit to this makino character
3) If see from the chemistry between dao ming tse / sanchai , domyouji / makino , goo jun pyo / geum jan di --> for me , the best chemistry is domyouji / makino and follow by dao ming tse/ sanchai then goo jun pyo / geum jan di
4) If see from which F4 is the most handsome , i choose F4 korea the most handsome follow by F4 Taiwan and Japan

I think mish ian is a fan of F4 taiwan
I see that you consider MG is the best (one of the classical )and that is strange and funny
you know why !!! because all my friends think so
Also I watch MG , BBF and HYD (even the Managa) I still find the plot in MG is irritating , the story line become ridiculous at MG 2
Come on the leading lady is barbie xu she is a bad acteress don't ask me why !! but I get vibe from her and I can't figure out the reason
okey I do agree that jerry yan did his best as an unameture in this drama and the rest of F4 ( them careers launch out later because thay are F4 only ) but the leading lady ruin that ...
For me Still HYD is the BEST
between Doumyouji and Makino there was a pond No One can ever break it
I couldn't feel that in MG
The friendship between the member of F4 in HYD was great , And both of Oguri Shan and Jun were a proof of it
Rui was trying his best to superab his feelings to Makino But Vic zhou Was the worest lui ever his emotionless face was very noticeable Also I do agree that the tawian F4 was so handsame and they still look Hottie while they growing up ....
and I should admitt that the acting skills for F4 in HDY was Great and even the directing skills for the whole Staff was amezing
I'm Sorry but that my point of Veiw
Taiwanese Version
The Taiwanese version was the second version I saw. I thought Jerry Yan did a great job at Daoming Si. However, Da S wasn't as great at being Shancai, in my opinion. I think that maybe because it was a 2001 drama, it looked kind of weird, when watching the more technology developed 2005 Hana Yori Dango first.
Japanese Version
In my opinion, I think the Japanese version was the best. The whole story is based on a Japanese manga, so most likely, a Japanese drama with Japanese characters can portray the story best than any other. Honestly, I've heard comments about how Matsujun is rather unattractive but, for me, that didn't stop me from watching the drama. His acting is awesome & made the drama seem very realistic. Beauty is only in the eye of the beholder
Oguri Shun is the perfect person for Hanazawa Rui. I fell for him first, of course, before the jerk, Domyoji. There were some quirky moments in the drama but I guess, overall, it was pretty well made.
Korean Version
The Korean version had a better looking F4, as a lot of people would agree. I thought Lee Minho did an amazing job as Junpyo & I wouldn't want to see anyone else portray that character except for him after that. Hyunjoong's acting of Jihoo was a bit dull for my liking but nevertheless, he was still shining. Not only were the 2 male leads glowing, but the other 2 were hot too!
Overall
I think that that each version is great in it's own way & also quirky in it's other ways. No matter how much people compare the characters to eachother, each one deserves love because of the hard effort the actors & actresses put forth to make a great drama.

Taiwanese one =
F4 were just starting out, so their acting can be forgiven, but not the hair and clothes. :/ Also I hate Barbie so that was another reason I did not like it as much as the other two.
Japanese one= I liked some scenes alot more than in the Korean one. The main actors do a great job, I thought it was very good.
Korean one = I have to say it was my fav, the characters actually LOOK how they should be, and it made a nice change from the orginal one. They gave it alot more comedy and action than the other two.
Gibberish.

For me it is Taiwanese version, Japanese then Korean.
Taiwanese was the best for me because maybe I am just slightly biased XD probably because it was such a hit back then and it was really memorable. Partly because I pitied this version lol it was made waaay before and F4 just started out so it kinda fades in comparison.
The Jap version was great, probably the best one overall. Plus it is modern and filmed beautifully etc. I love Mao the most hahaha. She was the best female lead in all 3 versions.
The Korea version lacked chemistry. I see chemistry only between Yi Jung and Ga Eul. Jandi and Jun Pyo lacked serious chemistry, so does Ji Hoo and Jandi. I forced myself to watch till the end because of Kim Bum and So Eun lol :/

It's a tough call between BoF and HYD. They'd break even. Meteor Garden doesnt really come close cos it didnt leave much of an impression on me, the second series was especially draggy.
Acting/Casting-
I really liked the chemistry between Imoue Mao and Matsumoto Jun, as well as Oguri Shun's portrayal of Rui; both mysterious and introverted. BoF went for the easy approach with a pretty cast, but Goo Hye Sun spoiled the show for me. Her facial expressions were very limited, if not, exaggerated. And don't get me started on Kim Hyun Joong's acting, it felt empty and soul-less. But kudos to him for trying. For the Woo Bin dude, he was just plainly irrelevant throughout the show. All this aside, i thought Lee Min Ho suited the role. He did not exaggerate his role as much as Matsumoto Jun in the j-version. Instead, humanizes it to a level where I can empathize with the character through the feelings he emotes. Lastly, Kim Bum. He acts with a maturity level beyond his years. (:
Plotwise, i watched HYD first so by the time it got to BoF, I got bored towards the last 10 episodes. But what i really enjoyed in BoF was the subplot (YiJung/Ga Eul story). I think it made me hold on to the show even after it became awfully predictable.

1. BOF
2. HYD
3. MG
BOF: Come on! Lee Min Ho.. ughhhh!!! Sunbae!!! Oppa!!! Geez.. as well as Kim Bum.. ughhhh!!! Sunbae!!! Oppa!!! Korean all they way. Their good looking casts are priceless. The F4 looks richer and cooler here.
HYD: The storyline is a job well done. Plus Toma-kun's appearance! GYAKUU!! That's the best decision the casters made.
MG: Bleh. The second season was a major failure. Jerry Yan is the only reason why I still kinda like it.

i gotta say Japanese version.
inoue mao did a good job and she's a brilliant actress. (:
i fell in love wth the character alot so yeah...japanese version is the best.
BUT i do like korean version as well.
korean version has a good storyline but..well..i dont like the ending.hahaa..
and gotta say the stuffs that they used wowed me alot.
the cars and all that..one word, wow.
and i had a conflict whether i should be rooting for jihoo or yijung.haha.
i loved yijung's character but somehow i fell in love with jihoo.

sorry but i dont like Meteor Garden at all.
i watched the show until episode 11 but i cannot continue anymore.
but i gotta praise Jerry and Vic.
Japan version:
Always the best, to me. The actors had chemistry to it.
Korea Version:
It was okay. I mean, it has a nice look to it, and the soundtrack was very good, but it also lagged, like most korean dramas LOL, but still.
TW: I have yet to see.

I didn't really like the Japanese version, not because the actors weren't satisfying to my eyes, but I felt like, they always had to be comical in the drama. In the Japanese version, they only focused on Makino and Domyouji couple, it was boring. The movie was stupid too, sure, trust is important in a relationship, but we already know they trust each other. No need for more. I liked the fact that the Korean version had at least a story for JiHoo, Rui seemed so lonely, all he had was himself. Everything in the Japanese version was confusing! In the end, Shizuka comes back and confesses to Rui, but then the next season, she's rooting for him to be with Makino. Taiwanese version, I haven't really gotten interested yet, so I don't want to have to comment on that. I basically, didn't like the Japanese version, but the Korean version, but I have to admit, the drama scenes are boring. Rewatching it made me feel like I forgot everything, so it was worth watching over!

but all in all...it's just the same...and i like MG better...it has more fun in it...

Though I haven't watched the Taiwanese version, I would have to say the Korean version is the best. I thought the story was more capitvating and obviously the male actors were much better looking than the Japanese series. Sorry to offend anyone.

P.S: I can't remember the names of the Korean and Chinese characters...so I'll be using their Japanese names~
I love the Japanese version by far. The acting, the cinematography, the OST...everything was pretty much how I imagined it while I was reading the manga and watching the anime. The chemistry between the actors were great and the storyline (although differed from the manga a little) was still great. Their acting was believable and just got me to believe that they were indeed the real life version of their manga character. I loved the fact that F4 was F4...as in although Tsukasa and Rui had more scenes, Akira and Soujiro were constantly there and their friendship was evident. The drama kept my interest throughout the episodes and I never got tired of it. I can still watch it again and again. Oh, the Tsukasa's mother was just awesome. She had me totally convinced as the evil mother, but in the end, she still cared for her son. The transition was just belieable. Makino's family is just great as well. They were so tight and close-knitted...so when Makino decided to leave Tsukasa for her family and friends, I really bought it. Afterall, the strong connections she had with her family was evident.
The Taiwanese one followed the manga quite closely. That's why during some episodes, I felt really bored since I knew what was going to happen. However, the chemistry between the leads were really good. The acting was great too, although the characters names confused me sometimes since I was still new to the Taiwanese dramas back then. Like the Japanese, I love the relationship between F4. Although the Taiwanese version is quite old, it's still a great watch. I can't remember much of it since it's been nearly over 6-8 years since I watched it...but I remember loving it and I wouldn't mind re-watching it.
The Korean version wasn't as great as the other versions. I still don't see how it became so popular. I reckon the only factor that the Korean version had that was better than the others was that their F4 were really good looking. They attracted viewers. But, I don't like them. Akira was hardly in the drama, let alone be called part of F4. I still remember that random scene where he was telling Soujiro about his feelings...and that was it. The acting of the actors weren't that great either. There were some who were really good, some who were just bad and some where just mediocre. By the end of it all, I just couldn't believe I was watching a drama on HANA YORI DANGO. It felt more like a typical Korean drama...And another thing, the chemistry between Tsukasa and Tsukushi weren't that great. I still don't believe in their love. I preferred the relationship between Makino's best friend and Soujiro more than the main. Yeah..I can go on forever...
And another thing, I really thought that Makino in the Japanese and Taiwanese version was poor. In the Korean one...she didn't seem poor at all. The clothes she wore was hardly repeated...some outfits were spotted by the Koreans as being expensive (like that bag and that popular jumper) and really, I just couldn't sympathise for her...

I cant really choose which as the best but this is my opinion of the 3 versions:
Storywise, I loved the Koreans Version the most as its characters are well balanced and story well built.
Barbies character of Shan Cai was the best in my opinion out of all the 3 versions, she portrayed great skills of acting and the character development was well built.
Lee Min Hos character as Gu Jun Pyo I think is by far the best.
Kim Bum is the best together with her partner Ga Eul
Tsukushi's Parents, taiwans version is the most funniest
Yu Sao in taiwans version is good oso
For Tsukasas sisters, as long as they pack a good punch any will do
For all others are kind of neutral, similar sort of... not really big difference...
argg ;;; the taiwan one and the japanese one is really close for me .
mao & barbie were both amaazing , but i'm giong to have to give it to mao , she was awesome in HYD , and she played the part very well . sun hye was .. okkkk . but she didn't really ; erhm , ....i didn't think she played her part thaat well , but it was ..moderate .
jerry & jun & min ho ... i liked all of them ... but really , i didn't think any one of them were particularly amazing , so i can't really decide
vic & shun & hyun joong ; i'm sorry girls , but hyun joong killed it for me , i do think he's pretty cuute and was realyl handsome , but his acting looked so stiff , i was like O_______O through the whole thing ..vic & shun were bothhh awesome . but i'd probably go for vic (i think i'm just a little vic biased now , just cuz i finished b&w) but shun was amaazing as well
ken & kim bum & shota ;;; KIMBUM (: okk , i have to admit that i really didn't dig the korean version , but i really did like kimbum (&& maybe i'm leaning towards him because i personally thought he was the best looking out of the three XP) but i did love his million dollar smile (: && his relationship with ga eul was just adorable . i was really rooting for them !
vanness & kim joon & tsuyoshi ;;; i really didn't like any one in particular here , maybe it's because in all the versions , they aren't really shown much , ):
overall ;;; i really didn't like the korean version as much ...because it was the newest , it was boring . not that the story was boring or anything ...but after watching two versions , you kinda know what happens , you don't really have to pay attention anymore . yeah , there were a few changes , but they were very slight .. but the koreans didn't fail to attract , obviously , because everyone in my class who's never watched MG or HYD fell for BOF immediately . i think if i watched the korean one first , i might've loved it more .. however ,,, like others have said , i didn't really feel that jandi & junpyo had much chemistry , yeah . && she didnt' have much with F4 EITHER . in HYD , if i rmb correctly , makino looked for help from all the F4 members (maybe rui a little more) but in jandi's case , in almost every ep , she was with jihoo or something .. && for the first time in all three versions , i was actually rooting for a shancai/huazilei , makino/rui , jandi/jihoo ending .. because i didn't think that jandi and junpyo had much chemistry ...because jandi spent so much time with jihoo . .. i got used to them & started liking them more as a couple instead , but in MG & HYD i was all in for shancai/daomingsi , makino/domyouji , jandi/junpyo .
so .. overall .. i guess i've come to a conclusion that i liked the japanese version the most , because i think they made me want to watch it more && it was nice and short , but the taiwanese version comes close behind , then finally the korean version (:

on other terms though, the first i ever watched was meteor garden, which was my first taiwanese drama. it was a complete love at first sight. the drama was great. the cast was awesome, even though they did not all look that good at the time. the actors and actresses all grew on me and i fell in love. since this was the first version to come out, and first for me to watch, i would say this is the first.
about a year or more later after i watched meteor garden, the japanese version came out. considering that it is a japanese version, they have more resources to what they need and all. this turned out to be so much better then meteor garden, but remember, it came out years after the taiwanese one came out and the manga was probably finished serializing in japan, making it easier to be more on topic with what the are filming. i see the second meteor garden went wtff so yeh. this one was definitely better in terms of filming and storyline and resources.
other then that, for these two versions, the guys that played rui hanazawa, vic and oguri shun, total hotness! <3
urghh.. omg. i am so sorry but in my opinion, i really really really did not like the female lead in the korean version. no matter how many of my friends watched it, i could not bring myself to watch the korean version. the girl was too unattractive for me. and i dunno, but after i got over the korean celebs i used to be all fan-girl over, i could not bring myself to say the guys in the korean version were attractive at all. sorry for the korean version fans, but dislike. the only role i really liked when watching a little of it was the little brother. total cutiie!

Personally, I have not watched HYD or Meteor Garden, so I know i'm not exactly in a position to choose. But by the looks of it, BOF has done an excellent job with great scenes and cast, so I have got to say that BOF was nothing but awesome. I fell totally in love with it, and this has been my favourite K-drama after coffee prince and goong!

Japanese version. I liked it even more than the manga. Good acting. Great pace. I love the set.
TW - draggy in the middle
Kor - music is annoying. the girl (character? or actor. i don't know) is annoying. I got to about ep. 6. Heck i think the China version's girl is more interesting.

I watched the anime, japanese version, korean version and taiwanese version (until Shan Cai saw Lei kissing her girlfriend on the cruise).
I can't stand the taiwanese version. It's kind of lame. Tsukasa Domyoji is supposed to be a very rich guy, the guy of the richest family in Japan in the manga. And Jerry Yan in taiwanese version, gosh, his look is nothing but like a mafia or a drug dealer or a young man who does illegal stuff. I must be the only girl if I say I don't see him handsome at all. Except Vic, all my God, F4 look like a mafia gang without money, without charm. Besides, I'm not a fan of Barbie Hsu, I don't dislike her either. For me, she is just an actress whose face turns me off.
The japanese version is not bad at all. Matsumoto Jun did a really great job, a childish and funny Domyoji , a Domyoji who shares his heart for the very first time. Mao Inoue isn't bad either. Although she is too cold for a Makino, but stubborn enough.
The korean version is really good. All F4 ALL are so goooood looking! I'm charmed by Domyoji Lee Min Ho and the couple Kim So Eun - Kim Bum (I watched at least 4 times all the scenes they are together

). Lee Min Ho's Domyoji is mature, lonely and loves Makino with all his heart, a Domyoji who doesn't talk much, but uses his action to prove. Koo Hye Sun portrayed well an energetic and a never-surrendered Makino.
Sincerely, no asian television broadcast does as good as korean ones when it comes to film rich people

, look at their cars, their suits. The best version for me!
