Well i assume your only asking about how legit are the files on mininova or atleast how to determine file legitimacy well...
Common sense.
- Comments
- Uploader
- Files
- Amount of Seeders
It is about reputation, people trust those who keep a good record and therefore you will learn to recognise their "tags" or group "tags" and through that you recognise the uploader.
I actually don't know much people who actually look for movies on mininova since there are much better options.

I don't recommend it. Join a private tracker like
http://www.demonoid.com/ Private trackers are better, but you got to do your own share of uploading. Public trackers can be tracked by the mpaa.
Run peer guardian in the background.

I use mininova but not to download movies though. It's a great site and the good thing about it is that there are comments section, so before you dwonload anything, you would know if there are any issus with that file from comments left by other people. It also lists all the files that come packaged with the download, so you can see what you are downloading before you download.

Just make sure to read the comments. Also some of them might be password protected requiring you to signup at the host site as well. Its best to generally start looking at the copies that have the most seed and peers first. If you are concerned, there are also some software that at least tries to filter out IPs that are reported as illegit like peerguardian. Nothing is 100% fool proof, and if you can deal with it, you might be better off watching the movies via streaming sites if you can deal with the somewhat bad quality.

Well to be perfectly honest, nothing is safe on the web. Even if it's sites like Adobe or Microsoft. Whenever you download something, you're putting yourself at a risk of contracting a virus.
I remembered downloading the Macromedia Flash client from the official site and my comp immediately got infected by a trojan. Did a virus scan to find out that the client i downloaded gave me that virus.
just have to remember to switch on your anti-virus software at all times and make sure that it's constantly updated with the latest information. I don't use mininova partly cos it got blocked (most likely by my service provider) but way before that when I was still able to use it, it was fine. it depends on where the download come from though. I don't particularly download from unknown users.
just a tip: I have torrented tons of files, probably more than a hundred already but nothing bad has happened to my laptop yet. don't ignore important key things like comments and such. they are a BIG HELP.

Mininova is really safe, although you must watch out for fake files as they may contain virus in them! Usually you can tell when they have tons of seeds and downloads. The ones that are the safest would be the ones where it actually has the username of who uploaded the file.

No, download at your own risk. Your isp will monitor you. The best way to get away with pirating is get a vpn or private proxy. So add 5-10 dollars for the service to keep you anonymous.
I would recommend you get your warez from warez-bb the forum and buy a rapidshare account. that is the safest way to pirate stuff because its from direct host. What I know is rapidshare doesn't disclose your IP. But torrents everyone can log and see your ip.
Hopefully, they write a new software to make your ip hidden. I'm for a free internet, but he big corporations don't like it.

If you're willing to pay 15$ every month, you could get a usenet account.
At the moment, that's not one of the sharing networks they're going after.

wth?! it scares me now coz i've never heard anything about this...
They've been doing this for years. The MPAA put out fake trackers sometime and when the person joins the tracker your ip is logged and if they caught you downloading some movie files they'll send you a letter with a fine for the movie you downloaded. That's why i dont download movies anymore.

Well that would be entrapment, wouldn't it?
And that's illegal.

Mininova is probably the safest site for american stuff.. (lol) I always download the torrents with the most seeders and leechers because obv. it means that there arent problems with the files.

All torrents will ultimately slow your computer down because not only you are lynching from others but you also become a seed that others can lynch from you. this is the basis of P2P sharing. Now, I download movies and music from a direct server so you are not exposing your information to anyone. There's several forum that do this but I use pspiso.com and just go through each of their subforum to find what you what. This is the safest way I find.

All the torrent site have a chance of catching viruses. There are no torrent site that are safe. But just use common sense orrr definitely read the feedbacks to determine if the file is safe to get.

mininova used to be supernova.org but since it got closed down by the authorities they had to make a new one. Since the day the website started until now 4-5 years. It's been stable and been providing alot of stable resources to me...
the only torrent site I will recommend to stay off of is Pirate Bay... ever since the owners are caught by the swedish police and FBI. Their site is quite unsafe from my perspective.

^ yeah thats true
but private is always safer than public just because they have more people to target rather than going for a small community
is it is every safe but vertor.com is the best. There no virus and there screen shot of the file.
