As you guys see, i only listed important awards. Personally i think that this is the most exiting year that GMA has ever had. I mean they have Leehom, Eason,, Jay and many more inredible artists. now lets get to the point, this thread was created so music lovers could discuss about this years GMAs.

Best Newcomer:
This is so hard, Yoga, Jam, Crowd and Joanna. As you see, anything can happen is this category. Maybe Yoga?

Song of the Year:
Again a hard pick. Jay or even maybe Crowd?

Album of the Year:
Only listened Easons and Jays album in this category. I would choose Eason Chan, because the album had versatile songs and it included one of the very best songs by Eason- 土星環. I mean this songs vocal usage and emotion is just to insane! Definitely an underrated song. The album is great and Eason is still running his Moving on Stage -concert(was it Moving on stage 20 now?).

Best Female Mandarin Artist
I'm so lost with this category....

Best Male Mandarin Artist:
If i remeber correctly, Eason and Khalil fong where also nominated in this category last year and they were the favorites to win but however Gary Cao snatched the award from Easons hand. Eason was judges favorite but did not win becausehe was critisised for suppressing his voice and not singing with all? Anyway this year they have Leehom, Jay and Ricky...as i mentioned, anything can happen in here but i guess Eason will get this award too

Best Newcomer:

probably 100 Ways of living since he has been nominated for many other awards but i havent listened to this album
but i think Love's Poetry is the best album so far out of all million star singers and it has a good chance

Song of the Year:

Album of the Year:

Best Female Mandarin Artist:

Probably one of the 2 older generation singers, if Tanya wins again it will be her 3rd time so doubt it will be her, but i hope Fish Leong or A-lin wins

Erm...Quite hard to predict... Yoga or Rachel probably.

Best Song of the year:
DaoXiang!! Okay, I admit I'm a bit biased towards Jay, but I think DaoXiang is REALLY good, especially the lyrics Jay penned himself. Carries A LOT of meaning and a really encouraging song!

Album of the Year:
I haven't hear Sandee's full album yet, so no comments. Crowd has a good chance I think, the songs are extremely NICE!! And Capricorn is also a good album as well

Best Male Artiste:
As much has I love Jay, I find it really hard for him this time. It's like SOOO many PRO people, like Leehom, Eason,etc.

Best Female Artiste:
Hard to say... I would say Tanya is good, but Fish Leong probably has a higher chance of winning...

And the thing that I was quite depressed about the 20th Golden Melody awards was that SHE was not nominated for the best group..... I always liked them and thought that they were quite good... D:

yah this years is pretty exciting

esp the new comers category..most of them are evenly matched..but im rooting for Rachel =p

So far i have seen Yoga, Joanna, Eason and Jay win lot of awards in this yeard award ceremonys. I'm pretty sure that each of them will be getting something. Personally i think Khalil Fong came weaker this year, Khalil is definitely an outstanding artist but his album Orange Moon seemed a little too soft and jazzy. It missed uniqueness compared to this 2 previous albums.

Does anybody know the previous winners of Best Mandarin Album from the Golden Melody Awards? Also, are the awards only given to Taiwanese artists?

I know last year Karen Mok won, but that's all I've been able to find on the internet. Could somebody please post a list of all the winners (and nominees would be nice too)?

last years nominees for best album were:
sodagreen, A-mei, stefanie sun, karen mok, jay chou and tanya (winner karen mok)

for 2007:
deserts chang, sodagreen, jolin tsai, mc hotdog and 2 other albums
and the winner was mc hotdog (Wake Up)

for 2006:
tanya, cheer chen, david tao, penny dai and another album
and the winner was david tao (The Great Leap)

for 2005:
jay chou, sandee chen, stefanie sun, stanley huang, wang leehom plus 2 others
and the winner was sandee chen (Afterwards.. we all cried..?)

for 2004:
fish leong, jolin tsai, jay chou and 3 others
and the winner was jay chou (Ye Hui Mei)

2003:
jay chou, A-mei, Shunza, Eason chan

I was able to watch this years GMAs.
So sad that a lot of nominees wasn't able to come.
