2009 Mr. Hong Kong Candidates Revealed!

http://gallery.asianfanatics.net/index.php...&pid=718571
http://gallery.asianfanatics.net/index.php...&pid=718572
Caption: #8 Kim Li and #10 Ng Wan Fu are earlier favorites in the 2009 Mr. Hong Kong contest.

The 2009 Mr. Hong Kong contestants met with the press at a fitness center in Mongkok earlier in the week. Under the guidance of fitness instructors, the 12 contestants demonstrated on a variety of fitness equipment to show off their big muscles. This year's "Youth" group had only four contestants, while the "Mature" group contained eight people. The general quality of the participants was mediocre; most of the men were on the short and thin side. Wong Yi Hing look-a-like, Kim Li Wai Kin and "Pitman look-a-like”, Ng Wan Fu were the popular contestants. Both men admitted that they had girlfriends already.

The 12 contestants wore sportswear outfits at the press conference yesterday, with each person displaying their muscles. As the MC at the event, Sharon Chan Man Chi noted that Kim Li and Ng Wan Fu had the most potential. Sharon has served as a judge in the Mr. Hong Kong contest each year. She felt that the quality of this year’s contestants was quite good. Aside from appearance, it was also important for the contestant to possess talent. Regarding the short stature of this year’s participants, Sharon explained that some of the “Youth” contestants were still young. Height was not the most critical factor, it was important to consider internal qualities as well.

Ng Wan Fu Unafraid of Past Being Exposed

Ng Wan Fu was happy in being identified by Sharon Chan as one of the more promising candidates. He said he was so nervous, he smiled until his lips were stiff. Several days ago, the media reported that he had a “rude” attitude. Ng noted that he did not realize the presence of reporters on that day. Although he admitted to saying too much, but by no means was he "rude" to the reporters. He was concerned confessed fear will affect their image.

Recently, many people have sent in personal information about Ng Wan Fu to the tabloids, exposing his past. Ng Wan Fu felt helpless over the matter, but there was nothing unrespectable about his past that can not be revealed. This may be one way for the audience to get to know him better. Did he have complicated love history? Ng Wan Fu said no.

When reporters asked whether Ng Wan Fu had a girlfriend, at first he did not Wan Fut to talk about it, but later admitted to seeing someone. (Did his girlfriend support him in joining the contest?) “My family and friends all support me.” (Will your girlfriend support you in wearing swimming trunks [before the public]?) “I don’t know, but I am a bit shy myself.” Also, Ng Wan Fu mentioned he was a little nervous about the talent section of the contest, since he did not play musical instruments or possess dancing skills. He may sing a song during the segment instead.

When the press pointed out to Kim Li that he resembled Wong Yi Hing, he was receptive to the comparison, since Wong was a handsome man. However, Kim Li did not see the resemblance himself. Was Kim Li afraid that his past will be exposed by the tabloids? "No, everyone can rest assured; there is nothing [indecent] to expose." When asked whether he had a girlfriend, Kim Li turned rigid and said with an embarrassed smile, "Excuse me." When asked the same question by reporters again, he finally admitted to having a girlfriend. (Did his girlfriend have opinions regarding his participation in the Mr. Hong Kong contest?) "I only have to ask my family about the matter."

One of the Mr. Hong Kong participants, Cheng Hung Ming, worked as a flight attendant. Coincidentally, he was colleagues with this year's heavily-rumored Miss Hong Kong participant, Tsang Xi Ning. Was Cheng Hung Ming familiar with Tsang Xi Ning’s rumors? Since each flight attendant had to adhere to their own schedules and each flight assigned different staff, he was not too familiar with Tsang Xi Ning’s rumors, aside from reading about them in the newspaper.

This year’s Mr. Hong Kong contest only had 4 contestants in the “Youth” division. The show’s producer, Ho Siu Wai, explained that the planning commission did not Wan Fut to select sub-standard contestants in order to fill in the spaces in the “Youth” division. Will this increase the “Youth” group participants in winning an award? Due to the scoring mechanism, Ho Siu Wai felt that each contestant’s chances of winning was equal and fair.

Samantha Ko stole the show when Mr. and Miss HK hopeful met
Saturday July 4, 2009 Hong Kong

The contestants of Mr. and Miss Hong Kong hopeful met up for the first time in Guangzhou Changlong Water Park to film a special programme yesterday. They were enjoying a game of water polo. Samantha Ko, Skye Chan and Shermon Tang were invited to host the event. They also wore swimming costume for the activities. However, the focus were on Samantha and Skye as they appeared as the most sexiest among all the girls, specially Samantha, showing the fullness of her top figure. On the other hand, Winnie Ma had so many NG when she was being filmed and Esther Lam was seen hiding having a nap. Germaine Li, however has to take a breath to hold her tummy in when her picture was taken due to her thick waistline and her stomach appeared to be bulging out.

Reporter told Samantha she stole the show yesterday as her figure was the best among the contestants, Samantha couldn't believe that by saying "Noway, this swimming outfit was allocated to me by the company." Samantha didn't think this year's Miss Hong Kong is below the standard but she feels they are average. Last year Samantha faced a lot of negative reports by the media. Talking about this year's Miss Hong Kong pageant, Hilaire Tsang is also the subject of a lot of negative gossips. However, Samantha doesn't think Hilaire is difficult to get on.

Winna Ma expressed that she and Sandy Lau are indeed very good friends, they denied the rumor that they are "broke back".

Among the Mr. Hong Kong contestants, fitness coach Kim Li (8 ) was showing off his strong body muscles. He told reporter that he started building his muscle up 6 years ago, and he goes to the gym 3 to 4 times a week.He told reporters that Clement Tien (5), Jason Cheng (6) and Jack Xu (7) are all looking good. Kim was asked if he was attracted by any of the Miss Hong Kong contestants? He replied "No, I am only here to do a job."

#10 Ng Wan Fu is probably one of the best looking asian men i've seen. Overall, the quality is better than Miss Hong Kong this year again. When is the competition held?
Cfanboys
It's hard for me to pick which guy is the best looking, but all of them are quite muscular.
I think #7 got a pretty good smile.
YouthAgainst
some of the choices are shocking really for mr hk

i was actually in the final 20 for the mature group this yr and there were far better looking ones there than the ones who made it (im making no comments abt myself btw)
Romeo83a
Number 10 is the best looking.

But this stupid show is all about muscles and that's boring.

You can always fix the body but not the face!
Chantel
I'll vote for no. 10 too.. the younger group looks so young! yawn.gif

12 Mr. Hong Kong hopeful preparing for the big night

"2009 Mr. Hong Kong Contest will be held tonight. The 12 contestants were rehearsing last night. Previous hot favorite Aurelien Ng, is now trailing behind other contestants due to recent media report that he is married and an "indecent picture" of him and a girl was released. He stressed that he was over the top, and that picture was taken at the karaoke bar two years ago.

The 12 Mr. Hong Kong hopeful all wearing swimming trunk, posing in front of the camera. Cheng Chee Kin, who had a big stomach in the first round, has his stomach flatten up. Jason Cheng's muscle looks much stronger than before, and his is probably the fittest on there. Chan Tze Yan looks as though he hasn't grown at all, no visible muscle. He is hoping the judges will give him mark for his smile. Dominic Lam appears to be masculine, but his left chest looks bigger than the right. Kim Li also looks good among the other contestants.

Aurelien Ng told reporter that he hasn't even got the picture they released. He reckoned a friend's friend got hold of it posted to the media. "I don't have enemy, never had any problems with anybody." Aurelien said. From now on, he will behave and pay attention to his image. He also stressed that there is nothing wrong for asking his friends to support him by voting for him. Aurelien disclosed that Belinda Yan, Miss Asia first runner up was an ex colleague, he hasn't communicated with her for a long time. He added "The negative media report does affect my confidence. If I lose, I can use that as an excuse."

Under dog Hui Kat Kit scored a double as Mr Hong Kong 2009

2009 Mr. Hong Kong contest was held last night. Under dog Hui Ka Kit (7) scored the double, winning the title of Mr. Hong Kong as well as the winner for the mature group. 25 years old Hui Ka Kit works as an auditor. Through out the contest, he has been the least noticeable contestant. Last night, he showed his dancing skill, which won him many votes from the judges. His Latin dance was outstanding and he got a big round of applaud from the ladies. The youth group winner is 18 years old student Chan Wain Hung.

Hot favorite Aurelien Ng who had so much negative media report about his private life recently, has he lost his deposit in the first round. Casualty doctor Kwok Tin Chun, dressed up as an Indian Prince was very popular, but didn't get enough votes.

Hui Ka Kit was in tears in front of the camera after he won. He said he will miss the other 11 contestants. He reckoned it was his smile that had won him the title. He had many supporters last night, but he would't be celebrating afterwards, he wanted to go home and rest. Youth group winner Chan Wai Hung was very happy that he won, he said he had not wasted his effort. In the contest, he demonstrated basketball dance with a big smile and he pulled the highest votes. He admits that the audience would probably like the more mature looking guy, and he is only 18. Asked if he would enter the entertainment industry, he said he may consider it.

This year's Mr. Hong Kong Contest has 700 female judges. Most females artists were in sexy outfit. Vivien Yeo was wearing a deep V, Koni Lui was weraing a low cut bearback dress ; Tracy Tip was wearing a see through evening gown and Suki Tsui was wearin a purple low cut dress, showing the fullness of her top. Samantha Ko was wearing an open top green dress. Miss HK Skye Chan attended the contest second time round. She appeared to be a bit conservative. The three hosts Dodo Cheng, Miriam Yeung and Belle Chan all dressed up too. Miriam joked that she is No.13 contestant, but she hasn't got the muscle to compete.

TVB received 4 complaints for 2009 Mr. Hong Kong contest

2009 Mr.Hong Kong contest was held last Saturday. This year's index rating is 20 point, up by one point from the previous year, but TVB had received four complaints. TVB Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Tsang Sing Ming reported the complaints included lack of dignity for the contestants; the way the contestants were dressed; the camera was not focused properly therefore the viewers can't see the contestants properly and lack of communication between last year and this year's contestants. However, TVB also received two complements, praising TVB that they had done a good job in the contest, the programme was well planned and entertaining. On the other hand, TVB also received eight complaints for "Super Giant voice" last Sunday. The complaints were mainly against host Prudence Liew who didn't show much respect for the participants, affected the contest atmosphere.

The reporter asked Jack what his future plans were? he said "I will join TVB". (Will you give up your job as an auditor?) "I haven't quit my job yet but I find my job very dull. That's why I will grasp the opportunity to enter the entertainment field". (Does your girlfriend reject to the idea?) "At first she did but now she is very supportive. She approves my hardwork". (How long have you been dating your girlfriend?) "3 years, the girl who performed the latin dance with me during the talent part of the show is actually my girlfriend".

That's because there were only 12 contestants this year.

I hated this year's winner. His face looks awfully old and wrinkly. I was full support #1 the whole time. He's so young and adorable, his awkwardness sorta showed at times and it made him SO huggable.

I thought #11 was overrated, but #10 was definately cute. His face was good.

I hope 1 is successful with whatever he pursues. Gosh he was such a cutie.

I know! #1 had such a cute awkwardness to him that made me wanna hug him. I think its cute. He was a little shy because after all he's only 18! I'm 20 and I dont know anyone that would have the courage to go on broadcasted television and compete against ppl that have more life experience than him

Dodo Cheung frankly said that Mr. HK pageant is more attractive

Source: http://ol.mingpao.com/cfm/star5.cfm?File=2...04/ma21857e.txt
Translation: ling gan @ http://asianfanatics.net

Dodo Cheung today attended a fashion show and was asked about this year Miss HK's low quality, and Dodo revealed that Miss HK show is not as attractive as Mr. HK.

Dodo today attended Dorian Ho's autumn-winter fashion show at the Four Seasons Hotel, and she expressed that she rarely watches Miss HK programs as there are a lot of channels and programs in the television at home, so there are too many choices. When asked about last year's winner, Edelweiss Cheung, who couldn't crown this year's Miss HK, Dodo said laughingly that she didn't even know who are the winners of the last year and this year's Miss HK.
