Hot favourites for the music newcomers awards Fiona Sit and Isabella Leung are deep in competition for this year's awards and in a bid to win TVB's newcomer award, Fiona Sit has agreed to film another series for them. Each pulling out the stops in the run up to the awards at the end of the year, they both appeared together at an event earlier, but Fiona's chances of winning at TVB seem much better than Isabella after agreeing to film for new series "Mystery Trend" at the end of this month. Having been through months of hard work filming for "The Academy" (Police Cadet Brave Hearts) and creating much gossip for herself, she will be making series again and giving up a lot for it.
Talking of Fiona's talents, her song "A Reply from Keanu Reeves" has topped the newcomer's charts for three weeks and has been very successful, but she caused a few rumours whilst filming earlier and almost ruined her chances of taking an award.
Reports indicate that "Mystery Trend" is a youth version of the earlier hit supernatural series "Mystery Beyond" and TVB will be inviting a group of young idols to star in these short stories, including Fiona, Cookies, 2R and the 12 members of the Jade New Army. As for the earlier narration piece by Philip Chan in the classic version, this will be done by Ekin Cheng. The show is planned to be aired at the end of January next year and as this is near to Chinese New Year, producer Chin Kwok Wai says that there will be some fun topics so that the viewers will be happy to watch it.
TVB's "Jade Solid Gold Top Ten Awards" held a press conference yesterday and revealed that the ceremony will be held at the Hong Kong Coliseum next year and in a groundbreaking move, there will be a special broadcast on 29th December showing some scenes of singers vying for viewers' votes. TVB's Variety and Music Senior Manager Chan Ka Yeung indicates that the show will be extended by half an hour, when the stars will come and ask for the viewers votes and superstars such as Andy Lau will be appearing at the event.

i dont know, the series doesn't seen all that interesting because of the cast. i dont think anyone on the list can act.. =/ I'm getting tired of all these shows that solely serve to promote newbies.
so what is this series really about and i clicked on the link but it dont' work.
yeh, i haven't seen 'mystery beyond', so i'm pretty clueless as to what this would be about. sounds like a collection of short mystery stories?
They should give the newcomers training instead of promoting them straight away.

TVB's new series "Mystery Trend" held its blessing ceremony yesterday in Sai Kung's Ho Chung Che Kung Temple and the cast members taking part included Shirley Yeung, Mandy Cho, Sharon Chan, Winnie Shum, Patrick Tang, Isabella Leung, Deep Ng, Renee Tai, Yan Ng and Edwin Siu. This series will be as its name suggest centring around some unexplained phenomena and each episode will have a different story. It is planned to be aired in around January next year.
Patrick Tang's progress in recent years has been so-so and his horoscope clashes with the zodiac this year, so earlier, he joined three friends to go and see a soothsayer. As a lot of what this person said was true, a previously rather sceptical Patrick says it is better to believe than not to. He says: "This person even knew that I have a mole on the most secret part of my body!"
Earlier, Patrick's girlfriend Marsha Yuen appeared on her own at an event and when asked about their relationship she indicated that they had not been in touch for a while, giving rise to speculation that their romance was over. When Patrick was asked whether Marsha was his wife-to-be, he did not respond directly, just saying: "Having a career is very important, so I am putting it first for now and when I am very successful, we will see if she is the one. As she says, she is also putting her career first, so it does not matter. There are many priorities in life and she is putting romance down for a while. I am very serious and respectful towards her. (Does this mean you have split up?) Depends how you look at it. (How do you see it?) I would like to put my career first and the most important thing is to the best I can. I will respect whatever she says. (Have you discussed the matter?) Yes, she is a very ambitious person and she has always wanted to do a musical and the scope for this is much greater in America so if she wants to put aside love to fulfil her ambition then I will respect this. (Will she be going to further her career in America?) We do not know yet, but I hope she will find what she wants."
Patrick has now signed for TVB management and is now looking for a new record company to sign in the hope that he can release a new album next year.
Former Miss Hong Kongs Shirley and Mandy were also at the event and Shirley says that thankfully she has never met with any supernatural occurrences. Although she is afraid of ghosts, she loves watching ghost films, where she will shriek out loud.
In the new series, Shirley plays a spirit that can see into the future and when it was mentioned that many showbiz stars like to read their futures, Shirley says she does not like this because if she finds out that something bad will happen then she will be even more afraid, so letting nature run its course is better. With Christmas coming will Shirley be celebrating with boyfriend Gregory Lee? She says that they have not arranged anything yet and then changed the subject saying: "I have just been to England for four to five days doing promotion for the company and I was singing on stage for the first time in a foreign country. I sung three songs and if I have time, I would like to have singing lessons from a tutor."
Mandy is a somewhat cowardly person and she remembers when she was younger and watching horror films, she would place herself between her sisters. Later when she was studying in America, there was a power cut and as she was living alone, then she became braver after two or three times without power.
When asked if she has any supernatural experiences, Mandy says that when she was at secondary school, she was doing homework with a friend at home late into the night and she saw a figure jumping out of a TV that was switched off that turned her pale with fright. Her friend did not see anything though, she she just puts it down to visions because she was too tired. She laughs: "I have not done anything wrong, so I am not afraid."
Filming a ghost show for the first time, Yan Ng has requested a peace charm in the hope that filming will go well. She says: "I have experienced not being able to move when I have woken up from sleeping, like being crushed by a ghost, but my mother explained that this was just because I was too tired and my imagination tricking my mind."

It turns out that this is Shirley's guest starring role in new series "Mystery Trend" and she says that this is the limit of her sexy appearance.
Reports suggest that this fairy has very strong powers and can foretell the future and offers a chat service on ICQ that charges one day of your life for every six seconds. Shirley says she would not dare to try something like this: "Usually I will not even have my fortune read because if they say something bad it just makes me unhappy." At Christmas, Shirley will be meeting with some fans for a barbecue, but she says she would rather take her dogs than her boyfriend to avoid her fans getting jealous!

Geez not another one of these things. I really can't stand these newcomers. WORST ACTING SKILLS EVER. TVB please find actors that can actually act and not these people that only got the job because of their looks.

TRUE...i dont really like watching series with lots of newbies (cz their actings are still so bad)..and most of the new actors and actresses now only depend on their face..they have no talent in filming at all...

I agree with ecstatikk, although the newbie's acting skills isn't all that good but some of the newbie's acting skills really improves throughout the series that they performed in.
People that are in TVB for such a long time are also newbie's at first, they get to participate in more shows that's how they improve their acting skills.

These shows aren't scary... It's similatr to the Twilight Zone, where the writing / moral of story is what's 'scary' & not visuals...

The acting really is terrible to watch. Even below the lowest a TVB-newbie ever did. It's like watching a school's play. Can't stand those dudes trying to act all pretty...
this movie seem pretty interesting....i dont noe if is good or not because i havent watch it...but i like newbies...the guys are kute!!! anyways...hopefully is good...it look normal for the first part...then later scary and then funny and weird....look preety cool but the last story look so fake....
Seems ok, watched ep 1 & 2. From the introduction, they make it look scary, but it's not scary at all. Good to watch when nothing else is on.

this series is really bad, although it's not a well known cast (bar some) the plot and story line is so bad bad bad.
I think this series is interesting. Some of the story were entertaining while others where okay. The one I like so far is the Envy another story.

I really like this show...it is really interesting and sometimes even scary.
its pretty interesting... my sister sure likes it... we both hope that the rest of the episodes would come out soon!
A very fresh one.. i would like to see this type of series more.. but some of it are too fake. I like Ekin Cheng as the host... ^^ currently d/ling it and enjoy it a lot
