Linda Chung Ka-Yan (born 9 April 1984) was the 2004 Miss Chinese International Pageant winner and is now an actress with TVB in Hong Kong. She speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin. She has appeared in many successful series including Best Bet (2007), Heart of Greed (2007) along with its indirect sequel Moonlight Resonance (2008), A Journey Called Life (2008), Legends of the Demigods (2008) and the upcoming grand production The Gem of Life.

In 2003, Linda won the title of Miss Chinese Vancouver, along with three awards in the same event. In 2004, she joined Miss Chinese International, a beauty contest organized by TVB, and became the third Vancouverite in 4 years to win Miss Chinese International after Bernice Liu in 2001 and Shirley Zhou in 2002. The 1st and 2nd runner-up in the same year was Mandy Cho (Hong Kong) and Carlene Aguilar (Manila).

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I hope I'm welcome here!

Anyway, congratulations to Linda on winning the silver @ JSG. She deserves it, and it's good encouragement for her! Personally I prefer her acting a bit more, I'm loving her as Elise! I love how she can play both good, and not-so-good roles, she's a really good actress. In fact she's one of my really good favourites haha.

Woot it's part 2! I wasn't really here for part 1 LOL.

You guys are moving real quick! Gone for a weekend and so much to catch up on!!!

First off, want to congratulate Linda on the silver award. I was kinda surprised, cause I could have sworn TVB would have given her the gold considering she is a TVB artist, but lo and behold, they actually got the award right this time ... GEM deserved it ... I was a little surprised with Bosco's Silver win too but anyways ... glad to Linda get an award.

Her outfit was a little interesting though ... haha, at least she wasn't cold this time ...

themissingpiece - GOL is pretty exciting now ... well, since ep. 50 that is. I didn't see that coming at all, so that was a very nice twist to the entire series ... from 50 onward, it's been pretty intense ... It's going to see how the second half of the series is going to unfold. The rise, and eventual fall, of Bosco, Ada, and Gigi is going to be fun to watch ... Can't wait!!! I've said before, and I'll say it again ... I'm seriously loving Linda and GOL right now ... I just finished 54 and the preview for 55? Oh man ... I'm always looking forward to seeing her with Ada. There's always a b*tch fight ready to happen with those two ... hahaha ...

clesias - Hahaha ... Shawn and Linda are super cute. They are like awesome eye candy. I really hope that they have collaborate in the near future ... Rayda is cute too, but since they've been kinda anti social with each other, I'm on the Shawn and Linda bandwagon for now .. Freaking awesome job girl!!!! Love the first post!!!!

rainbowtonight - I already thought that Linda would be your idol actress by now! Hahaha .. but I agree with you, as Elise in GOL, she's really impressed me. I already signed off my fan girl idol worship to Sammi, but Linda is coming in a very close second. I absolutely loved her in AJCL, but GOL is really pushing her to the top ... She's been so great at the spoiled brat, but yet you empathize with her when she begins her downward spiral. I think it's kinda hard for a viewer to do that with a character. I hate her at the right time, and I feel bad for her at the right time ... As for MR, I honestly believe that it was just script that ruined YSC for Linda. I think she did what she could with YSC, but unfortunately, it was just bad writing on the writers parts. I thought they should have just given Bosco something else instead of Dr. Ling. They should have let YSC and GGJ get together early and see what it could have lead to within the family relationships. But no, they wasted it with the Dr. Ling triangle ...

travelbug - Thanks for posting that news info bit! So she didn't know how many fans she had in the US? And she wants to repay us?! Hahah ... then she should get confirm MCI in SF for sure then! That way we can get a gathering in place! Hahaha ... I'm just messing, but speaking of MCI in SF, her confirmation still isn't a done deal yet, so we're still waiting on it. From my understanding, her schedule is super tight and it looks like she wants to spend CNY with her family, which is completely understandable ... which might lead to her not doing SF at all .. but we'll see ...

Hello Part II

Lilthuggie, haha yeah perhaps after Gem I'll begin to see Linda as an idol. As for now, I'm a fan

I haven't seen Playboy Cops by myself but I came across with a short review about Linda in the movie. Pretty interesting!

Linda Chung is good at displaying the emotions her character feels, but drama is always easier to portray than comedy, and she doesn't have a lot of comedic scenes to contend with in this film. However, when she discovers her true love Lincoln is dying, her raw passion explodes onto the screen and it is truly the only genuine, emotional scene in the whole film. Otherwise, Linda's character Lisa is basically a very soft-spoken, whiny sort of girl whose disposition is like that of a timid mouse, even when she's angry.

And thank you Clesias! You did such a great job.

Rainbow - completely understood. There is definitely a huge difference in Linda's interpretation of YSC and SCL. I preferred SCL myself. Like lilthuggie said, I thought it was the script that ruined YSC. I think Gem took over a year to film and MR took only 2 months. My idol actress used to be Flora, but I think Linda has occupied the spot now. As for singers, my idol is definitely Sammi. Her CD was the first Chinese CD I ever bought.

Travel - I wonder what Linda means when she said she didn't know that there are people in the U.S. supporting her. Hope that means she will come to States more. Actually after the concert, I started to leave her messages on her blog and I noticed that there were quite a few people saying how great she was too.

It's okay if you weren't here for Part 1; just put more love and support into Part 2. Haha...yup, I like her as an actress more than a singer but she getting Silver is already really good!

I think I love her as Elise even without watching GOL

cause it's such a breakthrough role and it has brought her more lovers too!

lilthuggie: Hehe..I also wish that Shawn-Linda can have another chance to work together too! But it's hard for artistes to work together more than once in movies. Haha...I still remember your Shawn-Linda-Wu Zun story! Awesome...you can turn it into a fanfic.

Maricon: You have to watch ACJL! It's one of fave Linda series cause it's the first series that really made a lot of people to be awed by her acting and also the series is a gem in itself. The script, character development and the meaning is so good that you can cry along with the characters.

neutral: I can't wait to see "Dogs on Beat". I hope Linda won't have to cry a lot and thats she can finally try her hand at comedy.

I thought that it was confirmed that she was going to SF or was it just unconfirmed from the start? But I hope everything works out in the end.

Congratuations to Part II for Linda's thread. Linda is getting more and more fans. It seems like Linda's character in "The Gem of Life" is getting more interesting. She has performed so well. Hopefully Linda will get nominated for her lone in TVB's 42nd Anniversary. Does anyone have any news of what other series Linda is filming right now? Is she busy filming or busy on her singing career now? There hasn't been much news about Linda lately.

Clesias/Marcion - I'm thinking Dogs on the beat might be more towards the comedy side. Linda said in one of her interviews that this was the one of the few series where she didn't have to cry.

Marcion - The pictures you posted from AJCL make me want to watch it again. Can't tempt me like that otherwise i will be up the whole night watching TV. Once i start, I can't stop.

foreverleila - It might be difficult for Linda to get a nomination for Gem. The 42nd anniversary won't take place until the end of 2009 and ratings for Gem have been consistently so-so since it aired. TVB will be more inclined to reward artists from a highly rated series.

Yesterday Group Square, Linda Chung and JJ Jia attended the (雪碧榜) Award Ceremony and won the Newcomer Awards. When Linda won her award, she could not hide her happiness. kei_chan - LSK was suppose to have an adopted daughter? Hm, that would have been interesting. This time around Linda had some screen time with the vets: Michelle, LHK, LSK, and Ha Yu ... Not as much as the others, but a lot of time this time around considering she basically had none in HOG. I thought she played off Michelle really well. I was just disappointed with the way they wrote YSC. As for SF, originally she was then I talked to one of the mods and they said that she isn't 100% confirmed yet. So we have to wait it out and see if she can .. because supposedly, she's leaving for Vancouver after SF and not before ... so it would make sense if she just skipped SF all together to spend CNY with her family ... but anyways, I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that she'll pull through and confirm ...

I definately agree with the acting and singing comments made by you guys. Even being a Linda fan, I really wasn't thrilled to her about her entering the music industry. She doesn't have strong vocals enough to satisfy the music fan in me. i much prefer her acting and I do rather she focus on that, and the performance she is putting together in Gem is impressive... Best Supporting Actress nomination, cmon! The thing I want to see is Linda hanging out with the singers and to get a bit away from the TVB group ..I totally think the singers are cooler

Yup, in the 1st plot, she is the adopted daughter. It was said in the preview of MR. So in the beginning, MR is like tat: Rayda was the sister-brother relationship while Movia is 1st mom-2nd mom siblings.

Rainbow - There are 443 episodes in Virtues of Harmony II. Steven and Linda did not appeared until episode 350 or so. I would start with episode 400 because that's when their storyline is at the highest peak. I have the DVDs so if there is anything specific you need, just let me know. Look for scenes when they were pretending to be lovers and had to live together for a week in order to get a business contract. Those scenes were cute.

kei_chan: Talking about the MR script really make me angry again! I think the storyline for YSC is so so so bad; couldn't stand all the draggy scenes with Ling B. Wish that there was more scenes of YSC and GGJ!

Maricon: Make AJCL the first show on your playlist! Though the character development of KaKa could have gone better (it's pretty strange how fast she changed into a good girl), she still made me cry a lot. And it's the first time that I've seen how beautiful she still look when she is crying.

Nahh I don't think she'll be nominated for Best Actress in GOL. Maybe Best Supporting Actress or Most Improved for GOL? I really hope so!

neutral: Yup, I hope it's a comedy show too. I usually hate sad shows, AJCL is an exception but no more! Ahhh I also feel like re-watching AJCL but so busy now...

OMG, the video is so cute! I love what she did with SJS, the whole puppy eyes expression and the shaking in her voice is just so good. She seems so comfortable and her expressions are actually really funny.

kei_chan in regards to the MR script, i thought that linda could have had better scenes instead of crying all the time. i love her ability to produce real tears all the time, but i have to admit that it was getting kind of old. i absolutely hated the lingB character because he actually sounded a little pedophile-ish while he was talking to her in the hospital wing pretending to be the babies...that concept just doesn't sit well with me.

maricon AJCL was by far my favorite story line for linda, but i do have to agree with you guys that it was too fast that she was turned into a good girl, but that's forgivable too.

you could see how an events like hers could lead her into a good girl.

i really like linda's SJS name. i was thinking about naming my own kid that. but then my husband would have the last name sheung and i'd doubt i'd go through all that trouble. but i love the meaning of the name

and i wonder if she'd go to 獎門人 this year? she didn't go last time it was on right?

Agreed those were so cute and funny moments of Steven and Linda. Oh it brings back all the happy memories. Some of the bloopers at the end were quite funny too.
I thought her name was quite funny too in a way, Hung Bak Nam. And one of her relatives was Hung Lor Bak (LOL carrot) or something like that.

I don't recalled Linda ever being on the Super Trio show. Come to think of it, i don't think she should go on that show either. Some of the events are funny, but some are kind of degrading.

Clesias - It's very possible that we can get to part 3 by the end of the year if the thread stays this active. 2,000 posts/365 days = about 5 posts each day. Part 2 has been up for 2 days and we have over 50 posts. Definitely a possibility.

A couple of comments on HK discuss forum about Linda's performance in episode 55 saying she did very well. Like I was telling missingpiece in part 1, the posts there have dwindled and most are discussions about the story.

Linda is scheduled to attend Gem of Life promotion for the first time on the 9th. Also expected to attend: Maggie, Ada, Moses, Bowie, Lee Sze Kei, etc

EDIT: travel, have you checked HKdiscuss for comments on Ep 56! I just checked and quite a few positive comments on Linda's acting. (1) saying that her scene with Ada and the one with WH were highlights of the ep (2) saying that the scene with WH was well written and well acted.

neutral: I don't think I have seen Linda on Super Trio too. I think just once, it will be fun to play the games but not too many times cause the games are getting more and more disgusting.
