Well the nomination list for the most improved actor and actress of 09 is out. So I decided to make a poll on AF.

The above is the nomination list for the most improved actor and actress of the 42nd TVB Anniversary Awards ceremony.

My choice for the improved actor would be Johnson. I thought he improved quite a lot from the first series I watched of him.

As for the improved actress, I would choose Sharon. I remember watching Sharon in "The Last Breakthrough" and now in her most recent series "Born Rich." Sharon's acting has definitely improved quite a lot. I think Sharon deserves this award.

What about you guys?

Let's start voting!

jse
I will vote Raymond Wong for the Most Improved Actor Award since he had done a very great job in Sweetness In The Salt. However, I just don't like the nomination list for The Most Improved Actress Award. Since there is no Selena in it, I will vote for Sharon despite the fact that there is a chance for Aimee to win since TVB seems to promote her recently. But, Sharon is my choice. But I just don't like Selena in the Supporting Actress Award. Maybe Selena's role in Beyond is quite big so she has to be the supporting actress!

My choice for Most Improved Actor, of cos it would be Raymond Wong since there is no Oscar Leung or Him Law

As for Most Improved Actress, there's no way Im giving my votes to Aimee, Queenie & Catherine.
My vote goes to either Koni or Sharon (if either one wins it, im happy) but it doesnt seem like the cast cos most of the chinese websites ive gone to, they said Aimee's the one whom will win it. Oringally, if Selena's inside, I would cast my vote to her for sure. But she wasnt in. So it's Sharon & Koni. Sharon has been a long time nominee for this award. If she doesnt get it this year, I seriously think that she doesnt have much chances. (if only they had aired TBOG this year). Just like Selena, Sharon has been acting for more than 5 years already.
This year's nomination are BAD! No Natalie Tong, Toby Leung.......
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Lovememories
I choose Raymond Wong and Sharon Chan.
Musical-Notes
I support Raymond Wong
& Sharon Chan or Koni Lui. biggrin.gif
I really hope Aimee won't win the award...she can't even act. -.-
I wish Selena's on the list.....she deserves to be on the list. :3

Im so happy to see people supporting Sharon & Koni! But knowing tvb.............I will get disappointed, AGAIN

Johnson Lee and Koni Lui smile.gif I think both of them deserve it! Especially Johnson, since he didn't win last year which was a disappointment since he's so talented!

For Most Improved Actress, I also agree that Selena should be in it....the first series I saw with her in it was Face to Fate and that's when I actually started noticing her. True, she has done some roles that I hated, but overall her acting has improved greatly over the years. But we all know TVB can be stupid sometimes and shut people out that deserve to be in for reasons only they know.

Based on the list above, I would vote for Sharon Chan, as I feel she deserves it most out of the nominees...though we all know that TVB will probably pick Aimee because they are trying to promote her and she came out of the Miss HK pageant, whereas Sharon did not...to be honest, Aimee can't even act -- in fact, I can't even understand her Cantonese...I think she needs to work on being able to speak clearly first before getting to into acting...

As for Most Improved Actor, I chose Johnson Lee, only because I've seen him in the most series and feel that he definitely has potential...

I actually think of all the categories that Most Improved Actress is the hardest for me to choose, because I think all of the actresses are quite good. Of the 5, I think the best actress is Queenie. She has versatility and can carry a variety of roles very well (the spoiled business woman in "You're Hired," and the sweet and naive Go Ling in "Off Pedder, the 3rd mistress in TGOL).

But if we're going by what the award literally means in the actress who has made the most improvements, it is Aimee for me. She was over shadowed A LOT in CMN when she made her debut along Koni. But she really turned it around in Off Pedder and BF3. She's getting better and better and more natural on OP. She did a good job as Easy in BF3. Of course she needs to improve, but it's no small feat to be able to be able to steal the show (with Bosco) away from the main couple.

Koni (a bit disappointing in YH), Sharon, and Catherine are all also solid actresses as well.

So in the end, I'm gonna vote for Queenie, because I doubt she'll get much support in AF.

I was rooting for Selena last year, but this year, it doesn't seem that she was in much this year, so I'm not surprised she was left off the nomination list.

Between Johnson Lee and Raymond Wong and Sharon/Koni. Koni shows that she is a very good actress from her 1st series Catch me now, but in 2009, she is a bit pale with small roles. Sharon is one of the last 79s girls who dun have Most Improved Award and she is a quite good actress.

However, why the Most Improved this year dun have some guys like Oscar or Him Law? Oscar has a very nice performance in YH, he deserved to have at least an nomination.

Yeah, I was hoping for Oscar to be nominated too. But I think next yr he has more chances.
Cos he has My Better Half & Cops.

I can't believe Him Law isn't on the list. TVB awards are really giving out for the older guys. Best actor award is usually for 35 years old above and most improved award is for 30 years old above?

Don't you think those actors who are nominated for this category is a bit matured for this? IMO, this award is suppose to be given for the newbies because they have improved heaps compared with last time when they had just enter the entertaiment industry.

I understand there is no age range for this award as long they have improved their acting skill but it's still very weird for me because just like in The Academy, Most Improved Award will be given to the trainee and there is no such award anymore for those who have officially become a policeman.

^I agree, especially for your last sentence.
I'm kinda disappointed with the nominations this year. I'm not sure if any of the actors/actresses have improved, some of them still need to improve while others have been good at acting for a long time. I guess if I had to choose, I would root for Johnson Lee or Raymond Wong, and Sharon Chan who deserves a better nomination. I'm 99% sure TVB will give the award to Aimee Chan, who really can't act.

Well, it has been rumored in the past (and proven in certain instances) that those who receive the Most Improved award usually go on to become lead the following year (or perhaps second lead -- regardless, it's usually a meatier role than what they've had in the past)...Bosco, Kenneth, Steven, Raymond, Kate, Myolie, etc. are all examples of this...
Ichihara Yūko
it's not true except for kenneth

Raymond got most improved award for his role, Ben Lok from survivor law. This is a leading role already. Raymond was in A taste of Love as second main lead before getting most improved award.

Bosco got most improved award for his role, Ling Mao Chun from War of in law. This is a leading role too. He was in Find the Light as leading role before getting most improved award.

Ron got most improved award for his role, Tsui Chi Ling from Twin of Brother. Again, leading role. He was in Find the light as leading role before getting most improved award.

IMO, everything had been decided by TVB already whether to promote an artiste to become first line actor/actress.

I've voted for

Raymond Wong
Koni Lui

As I think these are the two who showed most "improvement" this year in their series.
Transition
I'm with themissingpiece. Since the title of the award is the one who has made the most improvement, out of the five of them I think Aimee has improved the most in the shortest amount of time. Koni isn't bad either, but she hasn't had any important roles since CMN so it is hard to judge.

Sharon is probably the best actress in the group, and she has been acting for quite some time now...so I'd be happy if either Sharon or Aimee get the award this year.
baybeehxsleepi
i like both johnson lee and sharon chan

I'm pretty shocked to see Koni Lui name's on the nomination list, mainly because I don't recall her being in any series other than You're Hired this year. Her perfomrance there wasn't anything special. I don't even remember her performance in her previous drama in CMN to even compare her acting.

Selena Li not being on the list is quite disappointing. My vote goes to Sharon Chan. If Aimee Chan wins, it's understandable since you can see her improvements compared to her debut series BBS.

As for male, my vote goes to Raymond Wong. I was very impressed with his performance in Sweetness in Salt. It blew me away. Never knew he could portray such a role.
missywrite
For woman, I would choose Tavia Yeung but she's not on the list, too bad, think her acting has been great lately.

I voted Raymond Wong for "Most Improved Actor".He had done a good job in Sweetness In The Salt.I really hope that he can win this award. As for "Most Improved Actress i will goes for Sharon Chan. Her acting was quite good now.
