The nominations for this year's best series awards are out.
The above list is the 20 series for the awards ceremony this year.
For me, I would choose "Beyond the Realm of Conscience," "Rosy Business," and "You're Hired." Just finished episode 15 of "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" and the series is very good. Everyone in the series acted out very well. Charmaine and Tavia's chemistry as best friends was nice. As for "Rosy Business," I liked this series as well. The concept is pretty good. I liked Chai Gau and
Sheren in the series. "You're Hired" was a comedy series which brought in quite some laughter.
What about you guys?

Definitely Rosy Business...it was low production, but very well scripted and well-acted. Also, the edge that RB has over BTROC is that it's alot more fresh because it doesn't have the same people in it over and over again. Frankly, I refuse to watch BTROC (no matter how good people say it is) because I am so sick of seeing the same people in series (especially Kevin, Moses, Charmaine, Tavia) and also because I don't like any of these actors...plus in my 20 years of watching TVB series, I know better than to trust what TVB says in terms of who they do or don't promote or which series they push (it really comes down to ratings for them)...I can't tell you how many series I've seen that TVB has pretty much "written off" because it didn't have good ratings yet were absolutely great series and well-acted....TVB doesn't know how to recognize talent if it's staring them in the face...

Rosy Business, Born Rich, E.U and You are hired. RB is in the top. Born Rich - I think it's bad but it's actually a very cool series. E.U is the best among the triple Academy series. You are hired is a very funny series.
Other than that, D.I.E 2 is a not bad one, just D.I.E is way better.

Theres a couple that I enjoyed like E.U and DIE. Again. Currently watching BTROC and BR but so lagging behind so can't really comment on them xD, but the only series that really got me hooked and wanting to watch it, one episode after another is RB!! Yes, it had a very sad ending but its certainly a very memorable one. I cried buckets that Chai Gau died....I'm not joking!! Its also one of those few series that the male and female lead don't end up as a couple! Wayne and Sheren did an awesome job !
I voted for Rosy Business, You're Hired and Beyond the Realm of Conscience which were my favorites in order of preference. These are the shows that hooked me right in and found I couldn't wait for the next episodes to watch.

I voted BTROC, BR. RB, & E.U those were my top 4 series of the year.
realistically its either between BTROC and RB
Rosy Business all the waaaay.... Just got me hooked episode after episode. The same goes to BTROC. Coming up pretty close behind is Beyond TROC and D.I.E Again~
D.I.E had a pretty fresh plot for a detective series.

I voted for Rosy Business. I was kinda losing hope in TVB series until I watched RB. The story and the acting was just superb. My other favourite series this year are The Stew of Life, A Great Way to Care, D.I.E Again and You're Hired. I didn't like E.U at all.
(I haven't watched BR or BTROC yet)

I haven't seen most of them.

But so far, my vote goes to Rosy Business. How biased! But that series truly deserve all the given attention. Honest.

Wow, I haven't watched a lot of these series. :|
But I voted for E.U., You're Hired, D.I.E. Again, & Beyond.
I think I'd like Rosy Business if I actually watched it...but I didn't. D;
Maybe I'll watch it when it airs on DIRECT TV.
Although I'm a big fan of Michelle Yim, Beyond is average. War and Beauty is better in any aspect. Rosy Business is nothing special. I vote for E.U where Kathy Chow did a brilliant job in there. I can't help but crying hours for her death.

Personally I guess TVB will award Rosy Business or Beyond based on overall ratings and popularity ^__^
But my own personal favourite of the year is You're Hired <33

I COMPLETELY AGREE with everything you said (although I will eatch BTROC when I have free time after exams in december..lol)
I mean I know ratings are important and all, but it's still sad that other quality series get no love whatsoever.
Example: I thought A Great Way to Care was pretty interesting with all the cases about psychology and everything but TVB decided to warehouse it...uh .....wth...
I'd say the best series for 2009 has to be Rosy Business---> low production but excellent product. It's like the slumdog millionaire of this year! lol

It's so true that quality series don't get any love...look at how many series TVB "overlooked" or "wrote off" in the past because it wasn't a "grand production" that they invested alot of money in or a ratings winner....case in point, 2007, when Family Link was the highest rated series of the year and it had good reviews, but because it was not grand production and didn't have an "all star cast", the Best Series award was given to HOG instead...
dunno about best, but my fave this year was actually "sweetness in the salt" which no one seems to have mentioned, hehe. it had just the right dose of drama, comedy and romance for me plus everyone in the cast could actually act!
rosy business was really strong from the beginning to the middle, but the last 4 or 5 episodes killed it for me. once the family got involved in the war or whatever, i began to lose interest. sheren became too much of a hero to be realistic anymore. did women actually go to war in china btw?? i really would have preferred it if they kept the focus on the family business.
am loving "beyond" at the moment.. but waiting for it to finish before i can judge it as a whole.

Rosy Business for suree,,
when i first watched it i thought it was those
low production random flims that just didnt make it.
but the story line had so many twists i thought it was the best

For me, I prefer ‘Beyond the Realm of Conscience’, ‘Born Rich’ then ‘Rosy Business’..haha..
All three dramas have strong cast, good storyline and beautiful tunes.
