Updated: Just finsihed the rest of War and Beauty... I definitely changed my mind on some things.
These are my opinions on this year. I personally believe this year wasn't so great for TVB...but here it goes.
Best Actress
1. Maggie Cheung (War and Beauty)
An amazing performance from Maggie. The best I've seen from her by far. Especially when she cries; it's very convincing.
2. Ada Choi (To Catch the Uncatchable)
She is so funny! And her acting is great too...she cracks me up everytime she goes crazy in the police station. She's also a very natural cryer.
Best Supporting Actress
1. Gigi Lai (War and Beauty)
This is mostly because of her crying scenes. You can easily determine which one is the fake cry and which one is real. Her eyes are very creepy when she's angry. That's because her eyebrows are slanted and she look like a real villain.
1. Sheren Tang (War and Beauty)
A solid performance here. She always seem to have tears in her eyes and surely captures the superior concubine feel.
1. Charmine Sheh (War and Beauty)
I big improvement for Charmine. Her crying scenes actually look real this time around.
(All three women tied for first; convincing, and unbeatable performances!)
4. Joyce Tang (Armed Reaction 4)
Once again, she gives an eminent performance. It's a pity how both of her series in which she was lead did not air on TVB. Also, Joyce Tang and Marco Ngai seem to suffer too much in all the Armed Reaction series.
5. Annie Man (To Love with No Regrets)
The first time with a villain role. She did well with her b*tchy character, but it still made me like her.
Best Actor
1. Bowie Lam (War and Beauty)
A convincing performance. His character is quite strange, but it suited him well.
2. Damien Lau (Hard Fate)
An excellent performance here. Damien does extremely well with crying scenes.
3. Wong Hei (Net Deception)
Just like Damien, very good crying skills.
4.. Roger Kwok (To Get Unstuck in Time)
Roger’s usual…
5. Dayo Wong (To Catch the Uncatchable)
He’s really funny and has great chemistry with Ada Choi.
Best Supporting Actor
Unfortunately, no one stood out in my opinion.
Best Villain - Male
1. Lo Hoi Pang (War and Beauty)
This guy is evil! He uses his daughters to gain power. And when he doesn’t need them, he tosses them aside. In some cases, kill them! He’s the man behind Charmine’s evil schemes. He also prepared for a day when Charmine loses power by adopting a new child. And this man is very convincing as an evil bastard.
Best Villain - Female
1. Rebecca Chan (War and Beauty)
Don’t under estimate her, she can get nasty! With all her evil plots against the concubine!
2. Gigi Lai (War and Beauty)
As mentioned above, her eyes are creepy. And her character is very evil. She’s cold hearted when she sacrificed Bowie in order to attack Maggie. She later attempted to poison him.
3. June Chan (War and Beauty)
This girl is evil! She continually tries to eliminate her competitors. She even destroyed her sister! June's acting is simply excellent.
Best Comedic Performance - Male
1. Dayo Wong (To Catch the Uncatchable)
He’s funny…
Best Comedic Performance - Female
1. Cutie Mui (Virtues of Harmony 2)
She’s very funny. Her personality is almost unrealistic but hilarious. I especially enjoyed her ending story.
2. Bondy Chiu (Virtues of Harmony 2)
It’s funny when she tries to act all high class and starts arguments with everyone.
3. Ada Choi (To Catch the Uncatchable)
She is VERY funny. It’s funny how she’s related to every single crime. And her hilarious quote, "I only pinched him."
Best Newcomer - Male
Sorry, they all suck in my opinion.
Best Newcomer - Female
1. Nancy Wu (Twin of Brothers)
She’s a little bit above average. I definitely under estimated her acting capabilities.
2. Niki Chow (Hard Fate)
She’s cute, and acts very naturally. But then again, her character was very simple.
Best Improvement - Male
No one seems to stand out.
Best Improvement - Female
1. Charmine Sheh (War and Beauty)
Her crying looks real now! And the role is very new for her.
Best Comeback
1. Sunny Chan (Placebo Cure)
It’s very refreshing, haven’t seen him in a while. His acting is good as usual.
2. Michael Tao (Shine on You)
He’s funny here, but I don’t think his acting is very natural. Looks a bit forced to me. But good comeback, his character is very humorous.
3. Amy Kwok (To Love with no Regrets)
I didn’t mind watching her. Her character was extremely nice and her acting is quite decent.
Best Partners
1. Dayo Wong & Ada Choi (To Catch the Uncatchable)
They are a bickering pair. But they are too hilarious.
2. Bowie Lam & Gigi Lai (War and Beauty)
I have to admit the chemistry is there. The love story is pretty sad too.
3. Bowie Lam & Charmine Sheh (War and Beauty)
Too bad they didn't even get together. I thought they could have been a good pair. It's nice how Charmine is extremely caring towards him.
4. Roger Kwok & Flora Chan (To Get Unstuck in Time)
They went through a lot, and finally in the end...I thought they looked good together, especially when they were both in wheel chairs.
5. Michael Tse & Cutie Mui (Virtues of Harmony 2)
TOO BAD. This is a sweet pair...Oh well, I still like their friendship. How Cutie’s always being nice to him, but he only treats her as a sister.
6. Johnny Ngan & Helen Ma (Virtues of Harmony 2)
Such a funny pair. They actually love eachother so much. Helen is rich! But rather be poor and crave money instead. Quite funny...
7. Ka Yun employees (Virtues of Harmony 2)
They talk so much crap. But it’s so funny. I especially like Rain Lau and her sucking up to Stephanie Che. And behind her back she talks trash.
Best Series
1. War and Beauty
There’s never a dull moment in here! The action is so intense and the relationships are unbelievable. The evil schemes were brilliantly set up. I especially liked how all the women were evil in their own ways.
2. To Catch the Uncatchable
This series is one of the funniest series I’ve ever seen. Even though they deal with murder crimes, Dayo Wong and Ada Choi solves it in a very humorous way. My favourite story is about the consecutive deaths of people with the same name. And of course Ada is related to all their deaths. Right after she sells insurance, they die!
3. To Get Unstuck in Time
I enjoyed every single case. But I didn’t really like the twist. Everything just got weird and complicated. But still, the ending made up for it.
4. Virtues of Harmony (First half)
The first half is surprisingly not bad. I enjoyed it. That’s when there was Frankie Lam, Bernice Liu, and Cutie Mui. But after they left, everything dragged. The stories became lame and repetitive. I’m starting to think Cutie Mui writes the script because after she left, everything just went downhill.
5. Net Deception
I can’t remember much. All I know is I enjoyed it. Wong Hei and Myolie Wu gave strong performances. Basically, I like the whole computer and undercover cop theme.
6. Placebo Cure
The cases were very short! The series is only 15 episodes! I liked everything upto the ending. I felt they poorly summarized the series and Sunny Chan and Joyce Tang’s relationship was emotionally distant.
7. Hard Fate
It’s very joyful in the beginning, but everything got creepy when Damien turned evil. It was almost horror-like towards the end.
8. To Love with no Regrets
This is an average series. Nothing too good, and nothing too bad. It’s just refreshing to see Amy Kwok again.
9. Lady Fan
The only problem is how cheesy the series is. The special effects were pathetic. But I like Jessica Hsuan, and that’s about it.
10. Summer Heat
I actually enjoyed this series. It’s very shocking to find out who the actual killer is. And when they unfolded the whole mystery. But the suspense is not thrilling at all.
Best Theme Song
1. Vigilante in the Mask
2. War and Beauty
3. Placebo Cure
4. Lady Fan
5. To Get Unstuck in Time
6. Summer Heat
7. Shine on You
8. Net Deception
9. To Catch the Uncatchable
10. Blade Heart
And the trash of 2004...
Worst Actor
1. Joe Ma (Lady Fan)
He only has one face.
2. Anthony Wong (ICAC 2004)
Anthony is normally okay, but I don’t know. He’s not too good in this one, but then again. The series isn’t anything near average.
3. Ron Ng (Twin of Brothers)
Like Joe Ma, he also only has one face.
Worst Supporting Actor
1. Eddie Kwan (Net Deception)
I think Eddie has forgotten how to act.
2. Frankie Lam (Armed Reaction 4)
No facials! Well there are but they look so fake! He’s almost emotionless. He’s also very dull is his comedy series.
3. Roy Chow and the rest of the students (Shine on You)
Why are they trying to act so childish? Blame the script writers, but also blame them for over exaggerating.
Worst Actress
1. Sonija Kwok (Hidden Treasures)
She’s probably the only one that overly annoys me. She cannot act at all! She never seems to have any chemistry with her partners.
Worst Supporting Actress
1. Cherie Kong (To Get Unstuck in Time)
She was quite decent in Placebo Cure. But what the hell happened? Are the lines too difficult? The girl can’t act…especially when she tries too hard to cry and force out tears.
2. Tiffany Lam (Net Deception)
She should stick to what she does best. ???
3. Victoria Jolly (Summer Heat)
Not to mention how ugly she is! Her acting sucks. When she was scared, she had a smile on her face. Scary huh?
Worst Comeback
1. Eddie Kwan (Vigilante in the Mask, Net Deception)
What is Eddie up to these days anyway?
Worst Chemistry
1. Bobby Au Yeung & Sonija Kwok (Hidden Treasures)
There’s 0 chemistry. Nothing there, probably because of Sonija’s horrible acting.
2. Damien Lau & Flora Chan (Hard Fate)
I respect them for trying.
3. Ron Ng & Leila Tong (Twin of Brothers)
Leila Tong is so stiff in here. And Ron Ng’s acting isn’t too convincing so what are the odds? They don’t look right together.
Worst Series
1. ICAC 2004
Thankfully it’s short. I think the crimes are not very interesting and everything just drags.
2. Dream of Colours
They go on with basically nothing and of course, nothing seems to happen.
3. Vigilante in the Mask
Mostly because of Eddie Kwan’s horrible acting. The story seems interesting, but it’s mostly boring.
4. Hidden Treasures
Unfortunately, this one is not short. It’s basically about life on Ap Liu Street. Yes, very interesting. It's tiring how they go on with Bobby's store.
5. Virtues of Harmony 2 (Second half)
Everything got boring and I automatically lost interest. They repeat stroylines often, and the humour is so lame! Not to mention repetitive...
Worst Theme Song
1. Twin of Brothers
2. Riches and Stitches
3. The Conqueror’s Story
4. Sunshine Heartbeat
5. A Handful of Love
6. All the instrumental.
Least Favourite Characters
1. Chan Man Na (Virtues of Harmony 2)
2. Lo Hoi Pang (War and Beauty)
3. Rebecca Chan (War and Beauty)
4. Yu Yeung (War and Beauty)
5. Louis Yuen (Virtues of Harmony 2)
6. Li Quan (Twin of Brothers)
7. Eddie Kwan (Net Deception)
8. Mary Hon (Hard Fate)
9. Sharon Chan (Dream of Colours)
10. Cherie Kong (To Get Unctuck in Time)
Favourite Characters
1. Maggie Cheung (War and Beauty)
2. Jade Leung (War and Beauty)
3. Cutie Mui (Virtues of Harmony 2)
4. Sheren Tang (War and Beauty)
5. Charmine Sheh (war and Beauty)
6. Ada Choi (To Catch the Uncatchable)
7. Bowie Lam (War and Beauty)
8. Joyce Tang (Placebo Cure)
9. Sunny Chan (Placebo Cure)
10. Jessica Hsuan (Lady Fan)

I don't know if TLB, WFH, LITCOL are 2004 productiions. But here are my views.
Best Actress
1. Sheren Tang(War and Beauty)
Sheren’s performance in WAB was flawless and unforgettable. I liked her facial expressions whenever she speaks; it’s kind of the ‘don’t mess with me’
2. Gigi Lai (War and Beauty)
I don’t understand why she got criticized so much. I felt she deserved ‘best actress’ at TVB’s anniversary. Her character was rather difficult to play because her character varies. She can cry really well! It easy to spot when her crying is fake or real.
3. Maggie Cheung (The Conqueror’s Story)
I was never a fan of hers really, until I saw her in WAB and then TCS. She portrayed her power-hungry, confident, ambitious, clever character really well. Although her character was extreme, I ended up like her character because of her great performance.
4. Charmaine Sheh (War and Beauty)
Her performance was surprisingly good. She improved a lot especially in her crying skills. The scene when her sister (Jade) died, she did an amazing job, she made me cry.
5. Tavia Yeung (Twin of Brothers)
I was never a Tavia fan until I saw her in this serial. Her performance was pretty good, there’s still room for improvements. I love the way she cries btw.
6. Leila Tong (The Last Breakthrough)
She was terrible in TOB, maybe because her character was so dull. Her acting in TLB was one of her best. She can really cry well.
7. Ada Choi (To Catch the Uncatchable)
Although I hated TCTU, Ada did a very good job. She was very cute.
Best Supporting Actress
1. Jade Leung (War and Beauty)
She brought out the kindness and elegance in her character well.
2. Christine Ng (Twin of Brothers)
One of the reasons I continued to watch TOB was because of her.
3. Claire (Split Second)
She did a wonderful job! I couldn’t believe it when I saw her in SS; she was just so good in there.
4. Nancy Wu (Twin of Brothers)
Same as Claire, I couldn’t believe it was her when she appeared. She outshined Leila in TOB, and was very cute.
Most Improved Actress
1. Leila Tong (The Last Breakthrough)
Gosh this girl can cry! When she found out Ray had cancer, her crying was just fantastic!
2. Nancy Wu (Twin of Brothers)
I remember how much I hated her in TIT, but amazingly I loved her in TOB.
3. Sonija Kwok (The Last Breakthrough)
Although I don’t really like her, she did improved, and at least she’s decent now.
4. Michelle Yip (Lost in the Chamber of Love)
At least she can cry properly. The part when she went to see Kenneth and told him that she was here to search for her husband, that is a great scene, it showed her talents clearly.
5. Nick Chow (Hard Fate)
She brought out the cuteness in her character well.
Best Actor
1. Marco Ngai (Split Second)
I thought he deserved more credit than he received. His performance was utterly fantastic. Everytime he speaks, it just gives me chills. He made me feel his pain when he was sad, and did a great job when he’s angry. The BEST actor this year.
2. Nick Cheung (The Last Breakthrough)
The scene when he discovered the killer who killed his girlfriend was one of the best scenes in the serial.
3. Raymond Lam (Twin of Brothers)
All the scenes when he goes evil surprised me.
4. Kwong Wa (The Conqueror’s Story)
I simply loved him in TCS. His triumphant and glares were very convincing.
5. Roger Kwok (To Get Unstuck in Time)
I enjoyed his performance a lot. (He looks so cute when he smiles)
Best Supporting Actor/Most Improved
1. Bosco Wong (The Last Breakthrough & Wong Fei Hung)
Such a shame he had a small role but I liked him more than the leads. His martial arts aren’t bad either. He is my favourite newcomer and I believe he has the talents to replace the elder actors when they retire.
2. Kevin Cheng (Hard Fate)
I never payed attention to him until this serial, he and Bosco has a lot of charisma and potential.
3. Kenneth Ma (Lost in the Chamber of Love)
I used to hate him because he looked like a pervert to me. But gosh, talents really changed everything doesn’t it? He acted very well in LITCOL, and isn’t it weird, he looks cute to me now.
4. Chatchai (Split Second)
He’s not on ‘Most Improved’ but best supporting. He did a fantastic job and brought out the coolness to his character. I hope he continues to do TVB series because I can’t take my eyes off him, he’s so hot.
5. Marco Ngai (To Catch the Uncatchable)
Sure he can be under ‘Most Improved’ He was charming in TCTU, and really cute when he dances. I love his hair in the serial too.
Best Comedic Performances
1. Ada Choi & Marco Ngai (To Catch the Uncatchable)
Favourite Characters
1. Marco Ngai (Split Second)
Okay, his character was jealous of Alex and did a lot of cruel things to Alex and Yoyo. He made their lives miserable but I still love him! I love him for the way he love his father who isn’t blood related, how he was willing to kill his best friend for him. I love him even more when he does cruel things (how weird). I couldn’t take my eyes off him whenever he appears. So sad that he had to die in the hands of the girl he loved the most.
2. Kwong Wa (The Conqueror’s Story)
His character is heroic, ambitious, and confident and believes that he can change fate. Although he lost everything at the end, he is definitely the winner to me. Such a pitiful character, how he soldiers abandoned him, his wife suicide in front of his face, his best friend betrayed him, his godfather died, and at the end he suicide hating Adam. His character is really memorable; I love how he’s flawless in battles.
3. Tavia Yeung (Twin of Brothers)
I don’t understand how her character is considered selfish by many viewers. I felt she was very selfless for always putting her family and friendship first. I respected her character after she gave up on Kau Chong because she realized her best friend loved him and how she acted b*t*hy because she wanted Yuk Chi to misunderstand her. Deep down she probably felt very bad for hurting Kau Chong. A really respectful character.
4. Nick Cheung (The Last Breakthrough)
I liked how he’s faithful and serious in relationships. It’s so cute how he talks to his girlfriend’s stone as if she’s still there. I found his character to be very cute and adorable.
5. Chaitchai (Split Second)
His character was really honorable. It’s really appreciative how he spends 10 years as an undercover.
6. All four ladies from War and Beauty
Even though they play nasty tricks on one another, they all have something in common; they’re fighting to survive. All the characters were really great to watch.
Favourite Couple
1. Tavia Yeung & Raymond Lam in Twin of Brothers.
Like what Kau Chong said himself multiple times, “You’re always the one that understands me the most” Which is definitely true. When Chai Siu died, Tavia was the only one who believed that he was innocent by just his eyes. Their relationship was rather depressing, but I loved it so much because of the strong trust, believe, understanding in each other. What more can you ask for in a relationship?
2. Leila Tong & Raymond Lam in The Last Breakthrough
For those who haven’t seen TLB, I suggest you to watch it because their chemistry was fantastic. I love the music played whenever they’re together. A very cute couple.
3. Gigi Lai & Bowie Lam in War and Beauty
I felt their relationship was very cute. I like all the things Bowie did for Gigi.
4. Maggie Cheung & Moses in War and Beauty
As much as I love Sheren, Maggie/Moses are the real couple. I love the scene when Maggie was walking in Moses’s footprints.
5. Roger Kwok & Flora Chan in To Get Unstuck in Time
I thought it was absolutely cute how he fell in love with Flora. The boring date he set up with Flora was really funny.
Best Series of 2004
1. The Conqueror’s Story
For those who have not seen this serial, WATCH IT! The beginning was a bit boring but it was a great watch. TVB did a great job following the history and each character; even the minors had an interesting character. I loved the battles in here. Definitely my favourite serial this year.
2. War and Beauty
This serial was very sad and depressing. A definite must see. I enjoyed watching the ladies’ performances. It was really well done. The way they plot against one another was an interesting watch.
Not Bad Series
1. Split Second
Beware that the ending freaking sucks! All my favourite characters got kicked by the stupid psycho (Alex) But the reason I loved this serial because it made me an even bigger fan of Marco’s.
2. The Last Breakthrough
As I mentioned above, the chemistry between Leila and Raymond was FANTASTIC and Nick fans better watch it because he was very cute in there.
3. To Get Unstuck in Time
The first half was very good and addictive but after Flora was able to walk again, it went downhill, they squished too many things together. But the cases at the beginning were really interesting.
4. Lost in the Chamber of Love
The chemistry between Kenneth and Michelle was really good. I now like Kenneth after watching this serial.
5. Net Deception
Don’t remember much, but I do remember that it was a good serial.
6. Placebo Care
Sunny was just completely ADORABLE! The things he did for Joyce were really cute period. I always find myself smiling whenever he appears.
Best Comeback
Sunny Chan- I just love this guy.
The Losers of 2004
[/b]Worst Performance (no particular order)[/b]
1. Rain Li (Wong Fei Hung)
She was crap and cannot cry at all. Her acting is exaggerated and screwed up the relationship between her and Bosco.
2. Sharon (The Last Breakthrough)
She cannot cry also, and tries too hard to be cute.
3. Ron Ng (Twin of Brothers, Lost in the Chamber of Love)
Whoever thinks he’s a good actor got to be kidding and biased. Like Teufel said, he only has one face. He’s expressionless and wooden.
4. Adam Cheng (The Conqueror’s Story)
He cannot cry properly. His facial expressions aren’t even convincing. And in TCS he over did it with his hand movements.
5. Yoyo Mung/Alex Fong (Split Second)
Put it this way, they’re both completely annoyed the …. out of me. The both cannot cry at all.
6. Bowie Lam (War and Beauty)
I thought he did a fantastic job because his character blinded me. But when I rewatch it the second time, I realized how horrible he was. He was a dead fish with no expressions.
7. Shirley Yeung (Angels of Mission)
Lol she just sucks.
8. Adam Cheng (Blade Heart)
Lol, I hate the line “I keep killing and killing and I can’t stop killing and killing.” But he was okay in BH.
Least Favourite Characters (no particular order)
1. Alex Fong (Split Second)
I hate him for loving Yoyo, I hated him for killing Marco/Sam/Patrick, and I hated him for always bringing trouble to himself.
2. Yoyo Mung (Split Second)
I hated her for causing and bringing trouble to Alex. She knew that but still followed him everywhere. Marco shouldn’t have loved her, he deserved a better lady.
3. Li Qian (Twin of Brothers)
I found her character to be rather annoying and irritating. I blame her for the break up between Tavia and Raymond. Her character seems to be very closed minded and has a lot of insecurities. I find it hella annoying when she keeps have doubts about Raymond. Her character just irks me.
4. Adam Cheng (The Conqueror’s Story)
He was one useless leader. He cannot write, he cannot cry, he cannot fight and he has a lot of loyal followers. I hated him for allowing his followers to make decisions for him, for betraying Kwong Wa and for his sneaky plans that he used against Kwong Wa.
5. Myolie Wu (Lost in the Chamber of Love)
There is no one in the world that is as nice as her character! I don’t believe there is. Her character was really pathetic and unbelievable.
6. Sharon Chan (The Last Breakthrough)
I hated how she was so bratty and always threaten her life to get what she wants from Raymond. At times her character can become very irritating and selfish.
Least Favourite Couple
1. Alex Fong & Yoyo Mung in Split Second
Who the hell would fall in love with a girl that caused your daughters death and made your life tip upside down? NO ONE. Their relationship was so illogical.
2. Rita & Patrick in Split Second
Zippo chemistry.
3. Li Qian & Raymond Lam in Twin of Brothers
I get tired of the constant accusing and lack of trust. It makes me the audience very tired watching it.
4. Moses & Annie (Riches and Stitches)
Zero Chemistry.
5. Michael Tao & Kenix Kwok in Shine on You
They bored me to death.
Worst Series of 2004
1. Twin of Brothers
Shitty acting, storyline, characters, pairings and ending. The story just drags and drags, like just end at 30 episodes goddamit.
2. Hidden Treasures
Stupid storyline.
3. Lady Fan
Same as above.
4. A Handful of Love
The movie was just too meaningful, that it’s boring.
The series/actors/actresses I didn’t mention, were decent.
