JC is the BEST!! I love his songs alot. I enjoy listen to his old classics but there are also some new songs that are very good as well. His song dedicated to such talented singers such as Anita Mui was excellent; "Life is like a dream"...i have his new album "Black and White"...but havent yet to listen...
i was at his "odyssey" concert when he toured Australia...it was great!!
Jacky Cheung is definitely the King of Pop!!

Jacky is an actor, who brings two opposite emotions in me: I hate him for High Risk, since his character is soooo stupid there... but I really
admire him for Bullet in the Head!!

Jacky Cheung Hok Yau's creative musical SNOW WOLF LAKE (Mandarin version) premiered in Beijing on Christmas Eve. Two nights ago the second show took place. Cheung Hok Yau's Wu Long and Kit Chan Kit Yi's Yuk Fung received the most applause. The audience rushed the stage and applauded after the show.
Two nights ago Hok Yau after the show said, "The audience response was great. I am very happy. At least I can take the first step to relax. Before the performance I don't know how it will turn out. This time we have been very lucky. Each actor has been very involved and passionate." Hok Yau said, "I am one of the most involved actors. Tonight's performance is better. Last night we had some flurbs. We forgot to bring a red scarf (a key scene). I can only perform relying on my imagination." Because the crew forgot to tie the scarf on Hok Yau, Hok Yau was very angry. During intermission he was fuming and after the show he held a meeting to prevent something like that from happening again.
Famous Mainland folk singer Tang Can in the female lead has been criticized as less than Sandy Lam Yik Lin's original. Hok Yau said about Tang Can's performance, "I feel that she has worked very hard. She has done a lot of homework, including changing her figure singing, acting, I feel that she can handle it before I give it to her. In the future SNOW will continue to tour China. I hope more actors will perform and even find someone to take my place to pass SNOW on."
As for the SNOW WOLF LAKE novel writer Chung Wai Man being upset that no one has notified him about the tour, executive producer Chan Siu Fun refuted, "I am upset too! Why do we have to notify him? All of the copyright belongs to us. Hok Yau, Chan Siu Kei, Chan Hing Ka, Yee Chung Man and many others have come up with the story. He only wrote the novel. In the initial draft he talked a lot about planting flowers, which wasn't right for the script. Yik Lin has contributed greatly to SNOW. Her inability to perform this time is a regret."
A local program selected seven new couples for Hok Yau to witness their wedding. Two nights ago after the show Hok Yau rushed to the site to witness the ceremony. "I have been married for eight or nine years already. Seeing so many loving couples joining our ranks I am very touched. They reminded me that I still owe my wife a wedding photo."

[Oriental Daily, Ta Kung Pao & The Sun 08/01/05]
The South Asia Earthquake and Tsunami has taken the lives of over 100,000 people and destroyed the homes and lives of much more in the space of one day. In the aftermath of the disaster, the victims are now faced with shortages of food and fresh water and also the threat of disease that strikes at the hearts of everyone else around the world. Over a hundred stars and celebrities from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan joined together in solidarity yesterday at Hong Kong Stadium for the "Crossing Borders Fundraising Show" in a marathon performance, urging the public to donate to the plight of the victims and help them rebuild their homes and futures. The show was also aired to 40 stations around the world and spreading a little warmth to the people affected.
The audience began entering the venue at around 4pm and the show started at 7pm. Led by Eric Tsang, a minutes silence was held in memory of those who died before stars that included Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, A-mei Chang, Coco Lee, Sun Nan and Han Hong joined their colleagues from across the three places to sing the show's theme song "Love". The show was then hosted by Zhang Xiaoyan, Wu Xiaoli, Jacky Wu, Li Xiang, Carol Cheng, Eric Tsang, Sandra Ng and Cheng Dan Shui.
Jacky Cheung and Shirley Kwan presented the songs "Best Wishes" and "This is Love" dedicated to the survivors, whilst Dicky Cheung, Cecilia Cheung, Jaycee Chan and Chapman To each told of what they had seen when they flew out to see the devastation for themselves. Jaycee handed over a cheque on behalf of his father Jackie Chan for a further $1 million donation. Jaycee said that when he arrived in Phuket, he heard the news of another 1600 deaths and with a sad story behind each of them, it was incredibly hard to bear. He also encouraged all the fortunate people watching the show to dig deep into their hearts and donate more money.
As for reports that the artistes had used the funds raised to pay for their trips to the affected areas, the Performing Artistes Guild Deputy President Ho Kam Wah responded: "The trips made by the artistes were paid for by Jackie Chan and some sponsors separately, so none of the funds raised have gone towards this purpose."

I think it is quite clear that Jacky is the best singer in HK and probably in the whole of south east asia. Contrary to popular opinion Jacky has indeed been active these couple of years and is not in semi-retirement. In fact as the years go by Jacky's singing has improved.
He does not need to show his face all the time because he has earned the right to choose which events or broadcasts to attend. He does not sing to gain more fame or make more money, he sings because it is his passion.
Jacky has chosen since 2001 not to attend any music awards shows because in general they do not get proper recognition and lack credibility. How can you not get an award if you do not attend or you are too old or too new? And how can these music awards mean anything when they are four events and each have their own agenda?
An good example of this would be to compare Jacky's album 'like is like a dream' to andy l. Jacky's album was one of the most inventive, annotative, eventurous albums of the past few years while andy l's was...well...just the same as all his others. And the main song of Jacky in 2004 'tell you' is one of the most touching songs for a very long time, while andy l is totally commercially based. So who do the event organisers give the awards to? To the people who want all the fame and hold onto every ounce of spotlight they can get. And not to the people who have earned it through real music.
Jacky has not said he will not accept awards, but hopes there will be one unified award event to represent HK that gives a fair reflection of the music scene of that year.
And if there was ever going to be such an award event the most popular singer I think should be chosen by the public in random. By this I mean actually going up to somebody in the street and asking who their favourite singer is or who do they think sings best. There is no doubt in my mind if you did this today Jacky will win. If you did this 10 years ago Jacky would have won. And if you are going to do it in the next 10 years Jacky will probably win then. I don't think anybody will come close to what Jacky has achieved and his status will go down as legend if it has not already been done so.

I agree. I think Jacky Cheung is the best singer. None of the singers now for or before can compare to him. But after his throat was damaged or something...his voice was kind of ruined but it seems like he's gaining back his beauty, nice voice back. I was so sad to hear him when he first came back out. But now, I'm so happy that he's gaining the voice back. Yeah!
oh..jacky is one of my favourites...his songs is really nice..

not surprising that he is the best singer in HK. His songs really touch my heart! He has got the voice that nobody has.
Still the best!!! Most talented Hk singer, not to mention his live perfomances are absolutely perfect, he manages to fine tune each song to sound right.

Some news on Jacky! =D How cute, he loves his daughter so much ^^

Jacky Cheung Hok Yau although has been busy with his musical tour in China, as the Hong Kong Disneyland honorary ambassador he took time to tape promotional footage and host THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY. During the Lunar New Year program, Hok Yau will give away advanced tickets to Disneyland.
Hok Yau is known for spoiling his daugher. Once he was on his way to work, his daughter whined and beg her not to go to work and to keep her company instead. Although Hok Yau really wanted to Hok Yau was such a professional that he would not avoid work just because his daughter asked. Thus Hok Yau made sure his daughter was OK before leaving home. "Although I really miss my daughter, but I have to work. When I have time I definitely personally pick her up and drop her off at school and spend more time with her. My New Year wish is too be able to celebrate the Lunar New with my family."

Jacky has great vocals, but some of his songs need better melodies... I thought that one of his best albums is the one he made for the musical Snow Wolf River... all the songs on that album were very emotional and heartfelt.

Definately Jacky RULEZ!!!
I don't want to compare (I can not help it), but gosh Andy Lau and Joey is sweeping every damn awards and I don't even know what is so popular about them 2 now a days. They deserves some of the awards, but come on what is a competition when you have all cripple people in the race. There are so many awards out there that when u say that Andy has 100 awards I don't even know what it means. Radio stations and any entertainment medium wants to give awards that you don't even know which ones are prestigious any more. When you give Andy Lau an award and he shows up does that mean your award is prestigious. I just don't get it.
Jacky Cheung sure deserves awards, but he ain't getting any if any in the music scene in China or Hk or Taiwan. What does that mean? I recently read an article that 86% or something name Jacky as the god of singing and I think 60-80% of the HK population can't even name a song title of a song on the pop charts for the whole year of 2004. That is very messed up. The music scene is so corrupted now. Every single entertainment medium has lost their quality. Infernal affairs 1 was great but did u need 2 or 3 Gosh! am I dumb or those movies didn't make sense? Kung Fu by Stephen Chow made no sense to me and there was so many affects. I only saw that supposedly main female actress twice in the movie I think and she has been on the newspapers so much. I did not even see her act. The old lady had more scenes than her. GOSH what kind of trend is going on in Entertainment!

Jacky is very good yes, but his songs are not as good as in the past. I think he doesn't care about the awards. He already won everything what could be won, so why bother. Nowadays he's spending more time with his family. Well: he deserves it. However, I really hope he continue singing

i totally agree with many of you...jacky is a great singer with a great voice.....and should have won more awards then he has....does anyone of you know if jacky still give concerts? i´m gonna buy all his cd´s when i´m going to HK and hopefully go to his concert if there is one....but awards or no awards...i will still support him and hope that he will continue singing....

the title "God of Song" really best suited Jacky Cheung..and as a "God" I dont think he needs or demand any recognition nor awards from public...I think he will be deligted if people love him for his songs and not how many awards or how many top ten songs he has...as a teenager, being a fan of jacky really "out-date" as some of my frens quoting but still i believe it's much more pleasure to listen his songs rather than those hop-hop or those rap thingy... blush

Being a jacky fan myself I'm glad to see there are so many jacky fans in here. As far as I'm concerned there was only 1 king in HK...the other 4 were just idiots...all image an no talent...If awards were given fairly it shouldn't matter if you appeared to recieved the reward...If you earned it you should get it...
if anyone is interested in getting the full collection of Jacky's albums pm me i can send you the torrent file. It 34 albums in all from 1985 to 2003 mandarin and cantonese songs...its a great collection...one drawback...10.8 gigs...but if you a real fan you wouldnt mind...hehehehe

I think jacky has earn the pop king in music. and i am sure that he is already in a league way out of this universe, it is not possible to get a better voice than that NO WAY. he's songs will always be a classic
especially "chi sheung iat sang kan ni chou" beautiful song

Jacky deserves anything he gets because he's put in the effort to win these awards.
However that being said, most Singing award shows in HK are jst a commercial ploy.
They really need something like the Grammys, where its acutally REAL.
Then Jacky might not win anything but its truly professionals deciding who win's what and if that son'gs really the best andnot the most "commercialized"

yea its all too commercial. its all rigged, singers arent asssessed on their songs but how many news or commercials or how many teens like them
