I find it interesting that there is a thread for Kau Chong/Sau Ling and yet no thread for the two couples that ended up together / loved each other in the end of ToB.

Well since I can't talk about my favourite two couples in the other thread, I hope I won't get in trouble in starting this one! Admins...don't kill me... '

Anyway, I'm not here to bomb people who like Kau Chong with Sau Ling. In fact, I also like that pairing. It was just their destiny to not be together; what a corny statement! When they wanted to be together, their roles and responsbilities in life won't let them. And when they finally could be together, one of their hearts had already changed. But enough about them...

Kau Chong and Yuk Chi kept ToB okay for me. If it wasn't for them, I would have stopped ages ago. I love the way they kid and bicker around for 99.9999% of their scene times together. I love how Yuk Chi kept her love hidden from Kau Chong and helped him woo Sau Ling. I love how Yuk Chi would sacrifice everything so that Kau Chong is okay. I love how Kau Chong would rather go to war than hurt Yuk Chi. I love how Kau Chong would rather lie to Yuk Chi and keep his pain inside than to let her know that he was going to die. This relationship goes both ways, and that's why I love it so much. Their timing to fall for the other was perfect.

On first glance, Zhi Ling and Fei Huan may be boring. In face, I have heard a lot of fans say they want Zhi Ling and Wan Wan. LOLZ, acutally I like both pairings. In the beginning, I thought Zhi Ling was wasting his time. She was a virgin saint like figure and so she could never return his love even if she wanted to. However, I still loved their simple scenes together. Their many times of chat slowly accumulated into a relationship that depended on each other. You'd have to be patient to truly enjoy and see this relationship manifest. But they are truly sweet and romantic!

oh how I love this couple Raymond and Li Qian, they have so much chemistry...before I used to like Raymond with Tavia or Myolie...after seeing this couple top I wish they will co-operate again in the future. It them that keep TOB enjoyable. if without them Ron, Leila and Tavia couldnt carry the series

I have no comment about the other couple beside they have no chemistry...no love sparks....they dont end up together at the end anyway. And they dont sound like HUMAN.

it would be very hard to make TOB2 since KChong died already, I dont think I will make myself suffer by watching TOB2 if only Ron and Leila in there, they both couldnt carry the series by themselves.

Here's alist of all my favorite scenes of Kau Chong & Yuk Chi :
- He made the "starry sky room" for YC to thank her for "rescuing' him from near death. Also the parts where he sew her shoes into bunnies.
- "wish stone" scene where KC finds that YC likes him
- all the piggy back rides KC gave YC ..hehe... it was nice of KC to reconsider YC for all the things she did for him, especially that scene he was hitting himself and she threw herself onto him to stop him.
- "crab eating" scene where YC actually cooks crab for KC, and because of that bruised her hands and couldn't eat so KC had to feed her...it's so cute...and the part where KC almost kissed her and had to stop himself and then next day sent her away because he was afraid that he might use her as replacement and that would not be fair for YC
- all the little talks KC has with his 2nd hand general (Han Chi??) and his little bits of confession for having developed feelings for YC. He once said how after Sau Ning he had promised to himself he'd never fall in love again and just focus on ataining power, but too late he's already starting to develop feelings for YC by that time...
- "river scene" scene when KC, YC andtheir soldiers were being chased down and they stopped at river.It was then that KC apologized to YC for having to suffer with him consider she was a richman's daughter, it must be hardship for her. Then he also gave her that strange look, that for first time he sees her as a "girl" kinda image ..more than just his "buddy"

- all the "jealous" scenes KC with LSM over YC were so cute. KC maybe a lean-kick-ass-general, but when it comes to love he always fights like a kid fighting for candy.
- "confession drunk" scene, where he had to get himself drunk enough to confess his love for YC and tell her the real reason he fought with the General (it was because he did not want to hurt YC).
- "fake dying" scene KC and YC's father acted to test her feelings for KC (and vise-versa)
- "flying plum forrest" scene has got to be the most romantic scene of all! KC & YC finally are a couple!!! It's so sweet what KC said how he had given up all his pride and prestigious title and is willing to follow and woo her..hehehe
- "chasing in garden" scene, hihihi..could these 2 be anymore romantic!!!
- "before leaving for war" scene where YC told KC about her doubts his love for her and misunderstood that he was using her like he did with ThucNi, but KC reassured her that his love for her is true and his action will prove it. and the KISS!! Voila!! Full of tender and care!
- "date" scene, it's adorable how they just walked hand-in-hand most of time and seem very content & happy. I thought iwas funny how YC though KC wanted "more" than justa date, but it was very sweet and such a gentlemen of KC to only ask for her watch the stars with him that night...

The following scenes are "sad" scene but I think Li Qian performed best in them because of her sad, almost-crying-expression
- "grass ring" scene when she finally realize that KC gave her the ring undermisassumption - she was so heart broken and went away in field and cried and had to recuperate (save face).
- "thuc ni" scenes where YC told KC not to use thuc ni b/c she was innocent and KC was being harsh and mean to YC back by saying "why should that matter to you?", I love Li Qian's faciail expression in those angry , yet very hurtful scenes.
- all the scenes where YC finds out that KC still has feeling for SauNing, her crying walking away scenes in those are just heartwrenching..makes you want to go "Ouch!"
- "choosing' scene, it was both very painful to see KC and YC both lying to each other in that scene...but their performance was so touched and good! You can see the mist in KC's eyes as he walked away, so sad...
- "ending" scene, KC "wakes" up from his death and holds YC one last time , one last "kiss" and fades away...huhuhuh..hic hic hic..

Well anyways, who else is pissed at TVB for killing Kau Jong off at the end of ToB? I was so affected I still cry whenever I see that scene even now! OMG, yea I can understand why Kau Jong was to die. I mean, his death made him more of a hero than he already was, but still! They butchered Yuk Chi's happiness just so they could make Kau Jong the ultimate hero?! WFT!!!

I mean, every time I think back to how Yuk Chi was to spend the rest of her life without Kau Jong just kills me and my heart. Maybe that is why TVB didn't show her after 10 yrs in the show. Because they didn't know how to bring her into the scene. Sure they want to make us think that she's still happy and visits Kau Jong's grave often but come on. Realistically, how the hell could she be happy?! We know for sure that she would not have remarried, and so what could she do all day but to recount and relive all her memories with Kau Jong? How is that possbily called 'living'?

Just to take a vote; who wishes Yuk Chi died with Kau Jong? I personally thought it was selfish of him to make her promise him that she'd still alive, that she wasn't to committ suicide and join him in heaven. How could she possiblily live...without him???

Sidenote: I love ToB2 stories by fans. I'm currently translating one, so if you're interested (which you should be since you're in this thread about KJ and YC!) then check it out! Thu did you read it at 11211?

Here's some idea for re-writing ending for Kau Chong & Yuk Chi :

This happens right before Kau Chong & Chi Ling go to see LSMan.
Instead of actually "killing" the two guys, LSMan faked their death in front of everyone and decided to let the 2 guys escaped in underground "path" with promise that they should never reappear again in LSM' s kingdom.
So the Chi Ling & Kau Chong agreed. When they went back to their house to meet their friends Chi Ling saw Fuen Huen and they both decided to spend the rest of their life in monestary (like how the ending was in TOB serie). But Kau Chong finds out from his help (Han Chi) that Yuk Chi and Sau Ning were both forced by Thuc Ni to go to Palace. Kau Chong ran to the palace to find both Sau Ning & Yuk Chi on the floor. (They both had drank poison wine by Thuc Ni) Thuc Ni had already left the place thinking that Kau Chong had died and now she has finished killing both girls Kau Chong had love. Kau Chong & LSM both met again at same time and saw both ladies lying there in garden. LSM quikly ran up to his sister and try to awaken her, while Kau Chong ran to Yuk Chi holding her. Both men used all their kung-fu and saved the girls (luckily their came in time to save the poison from sinking in and was able to bring the poison back out). LSM asked Kau Chong if Yuk Chi was going to be OK. Kau Chong said yes, she will be fine. LSM then told Kau Chong to please take Yuk Chi away from the kingdom and find their happy lives together because he know Yuk Chi only love Kau Chong. Kau Chong agreed and thank LSM for sparing his life and promised to take good care of Yuk Chi.
LSM brought his sister back to the room and when she woke up she asked what happenend to Kau Chong, LSM told her that Kau Chong & Yuk Chi had left the kingdom already and shall never return so they will not get caught. Sau Ning wished all happiness for the couple as she is satisfied enough that both are still alive and well.

On the trip leaving the kingdom, Kau Chong took good care of Yuk Chi as she was stil unconscious. He ended up taking her to their house in the mountain. THe same place his god-mother had taken in him and Chi Ling when they first met. It was a secluded place where no one would find then and they can live the rest of their lives there together.
Yuk Chi still has not awaken from her poisoning and lying in bed. When she woke up she saw Kau Chong sleeping next to her bedrest. As soon as Kau Chong sense her moving he woke up and sat beside her.
YC : "Are you dead? Am I dead too ? Have we both gone to heaven??"
KC : "No silly, we are both very much alive." (Grabs her hands and place them on his chest) "Here feel my heart, and I am alive and well as you can see".

YC : (sits up and hugs KC really tight and cried) "I thought I'd never see you again. Thuc Ni told us if we drank the poison that you and Chi Ling will not be killed. I was so afraid and had no choice so I had drink the poison. Sister Sau Ning did too. (looks around) Oh where is Sister Sau Ning is she alive and welll ??

KC : (nodes and smile) "Yes, Sau Ning is well and is in the palace where she belongs. Her brother, who will be king, will take good care of her. "

YC : (suprised) "Where are we?? Are we not in the kingdom anymore?"
KC : "No we are not. We are now in a very secluded place, away from all the material world. " (holds YC's hand tightly and looked into her eyes) "YukChi, will you be alright living here with me for the rest of your life? Away from the material world, from your from luxery and servants ? I am now no one with no more power. Will you still stay by my side and be content with this lifestyle ?"
YC : (with tears bursting out of her eyes and smile) "Yes, of course. Do you think I am that spoil ?? I do not need anything else in the world as long as I am with you. (hugs KC again and lets her head rest on his chest) "Please do not ever leave me again and promise me to never lie to me again. No matter what happens from now on we will be truthful and honest with each other even when you are endanger? Promise me ?"
KC : "Yes, I have nothing else to hide from you except one thing I still have not told you."
YC : (pulls back from KC and looks at him with concern) "What is it??"
KC : (pulls out from his shirt a pair of bunny shoes) "I have yet to give these bunny shoes back to you. I want you to wear them from now on and never take them off. Will you ?? "
YC : "Does that mean ... ??"
KC : "Yes, of course. After out date that night, I finally realize who my heart belong to..and it has always been you. "
YC : (smiles with tears in her eyes) "Yes , yes I will never take them off again."

THe couple smiled at each other happily knowing that now they will find happiness in their secluded lives together.

10 years later, KC & YC pretend to be commoners dressed in simple clothing went into LSM kingdom to find peace, happiness, and wealth in the kingdom that LSM has reigned for the last 10 years.

The End

After watching TOB, I really liked Nancy Wu's character. I thought her and Ron were so cute together! Too bad they didn't end up together. I hated Ron and Leila...they were soooo boring. Raymond and Li Qian were ok...nothing special, but they were better than Raymond and Tavia.

That is such a beautiful ending! If TVB only had as much sense as you do Thu...STUPID TVB! Heck I would even like the ending even if he married both girls, as long as he was alive. Seriously though, I was hoping for some twist to the twins' death. They shouldn't have given in so easily. Whatever happened to their trickery and intelligent minds??? Besides, all they had to do was fool an old near death; how hard is that? :/

But my love for KC/YC and ZL/FH will continue in ToB2, lolz.

i'd be only satisfied if that he marry only Yuk Chi!! Anyways, Sau Ning really has 'no right' to marry anyone else because back in those days it's not right and improper. Also she's not just a commoner but a princess so it''d be a disgrace to marry 2nd time...

i like the ending even though KauChong died, but he finally realized who he loved the most and tried his best to protect YuChi from hurting that is really sweet...i think i would have stopped watching the series if it wasn't for KC and YC...the other couples were kind of boring. ZhiLing and FeiHuan were great match because both were into philosophical stuff...but it doesn't get boring with them...i hope Raymond and Li Qian would be paired up in another series soon because they really look cute together

Thu I really like ur version of the ending it's wayyyyyyyyyyy better then the original. Without Yuk-Chi and Raymond this series wouldn't be as good as it is they bring the comic and stress relief out of the series and the ending was wonderful cuzz of one thing only and that's the fact that Ray chose Yuk-Chi..lolz..if it's the other way around I would STOP watching already. Although he shouldn't die at all but I guess it kinda made the ending more meaningful..keke..I know ya won't agree with me but I'm trying to make myself accept the ending here..lolz..

My most favorite scenes is the part when Ray fake his death and when YC found out she ran and he chase after..keke..this scene was beautiful!!

Leila and Ron well what can I say they did match but they were still boring!! My sis luvs these two though more then Ray and Yuk-Chi..

I loved Raymond and Yuk-Chi! Leila and Ron were boring, I found myself getting bored of Leila's character really fast. I preferred Ron and Nancy way better. Raymond and Yuk-chi were so cute! She did a great job in acting even though she was only 19! She has the talent! =)

i love this series. especially the parts with ray and li qian. everything they do is so cute and i could see that in the beginning she started to like him. but it was sad how he died at the end and faded away before he gave her one last kiss. so sad. i kept on crying lol =x

OMG, I cried even at the scene where they were at the bridge. That scene was so heartbreaking. I mean, it wasn't that Kau Chong didn't want to be with Yuk Chi and it wasn't that he didn't chose her. But because he was going to die, he'd rather hurt her for the time behing than her be hurt for life. So he decided to keep his feelings inside and lie to her. And he only let his feelings come out at the end when his back was facing her and pressed tears finally couldn't stand it and were flooding out. That was so touching; too bad Kau Chong's efforts were wasted since Yuk Chi did find out at the end and probably spent her days thinking about Kau Chong and he vice versa but in another dimension. *sighs*

I really hated the ending!!! And yes, i cried during their last scene together. I rather than Ron died. who cares about ron and leila. i felt that the main couple of this story was raymond and yuk chi. it was really sad. and i don't like tavia tryin' to butt back in after her husband died.

I find the way Sau Ning butts in after her husband death is a bit disturbing, at that time, women's faithfulness or loyal is very very important, and yet she finds nothing wrong with that and another thing it too fast dont u think? when her husband dies she cries and everything but the next scene she is with Kau Chong already.

I dont think Kau Chong has to choose anything, when he is at her house fighting with her dad to see her, he is already choosen her.

I blame this on the scriptwriters' part!

1.) They butchered Kau Chong's character near the end. Come on, what happened to the decisive and 'know-exactly-what-I-want' KC??? He became so messed and confused about who he wanted to be with that it sickened me! For the whole show, he knew exactly what he wanted in life and who he wanted to be with in different periods of time. And all of sudden he's lost? WTF!
2.) Yuk Chi kinda annoyed me too, though I still love her. Like KC, I blame the failure of her character near the end as the scriptwriters' fault. I mean, ever since she became friends with KC, YC totally understood and trusted KC. So how come she didn't have enough faith in him at the end???
3.) Lastly, Sau Ling's character. I respect her. At the ending I didn't. Blame on the script. How is it possible for a married woman to be in the arms of another man just when his husband died not too long ago? Again, TVB lost their minds when writing the ending; as always!

But I kinda understand how YC became not trusting to KC for the short moment there it's because although she trust him, but she does not trust his LOVE for her. Because she was there from beginning when KC loved SN; therefore she never felt like she'd ever be #1 priority in his life. Thus causing her mistrust, 2nd KC onced used Thuc Ni for power by borrowing his soldiers, and that's exactly what KC did to YukChi too....perhaps althoug she's a fun-free-straight-forward person..she is quite vunerable and lacks self confidence...however, I'm glad in the end during their date she finally goes back to telling him that she'll always be by his side no matter who he chooses...hehe....

Who gets the chance to watch this movie series, they will love it. This is one of the best movie series in a long time.

I lyked Raymond with Yuk Chi alot and that wus much more interesting den Tavia, even though Tavia looks good with Raymond.
Ron and Leila however was really boring and I think Ron should have chosen Nancy over Leila, since she did so much for him and they look at lot better too

the ending was so sad *sniff* *sniff* I SOO wanted Raymond to come back than Ron! I found Ray a much more interesting guy than Ron and I wanted to see Ray and Yuk Chi get married....which dey never ended u doing

kau zhong and yuk chi is one of my favorite couples of all time. i love all their scenes together. like most people, prior to watching this series, i wanted/hoped that raymond would end up with tavia, but as the story progress, i can't help but fall in love with yuk chi. i love how yuk chi was always willing to stand by kau zhong's side regardless of everything and how kau zhong rather kept his feelings to himself than to hurt yuk chi. this series would've been pretty dull without these 2 characters, imo. as for sau ning, zi ling, and fei huen, i don't think they could've carried this series without the help of kau zhong and yuk chi, like someone said (sorry i forgot who -- i think it was thienly). anyway, i love Thu's ending. i was smiling the whole time while reading it.

I spent today re-watching most of KC and YC's scenes in ToB. (Finally got my dvd's back, thank god!) It reminded me why I like them so much. The fact that YC can give up everything for KC. The fact that KC can risk his army (representing everything he had worked for) and his own life for YC. The fact that they can so comfortable with each other. The fact that they do anything, including sarcificing their own love, so that the other could have a chance of happiness. And mostly, because YC chose Kau Chong at the beginning and KC finally realized where his love laid and chose Yuk Chi at the end.

LOlz, I can talk about them all day!

I like the romance and relation between Yuk Chi & Kau Chong because :

- It was first friendship then love last
- It was not based on looks or appearance but base on personality and feelings which developed as they got to know one another
- It's definitely a good feeling (from female's POV) to have the person who you love finally recognizes your love, appreciate it, and in the end also return that love to you. Which is exactly what happend to Yuk Chi. Her loyalty, support and friendship won Kau Chong's heart, which is why their romance story is like everlasting love and made such an impression to me.

LSM once said "love is not about equality, it's not count on how much you give a person and will receive as much in return" -- but it's definitely a great, wonderful, and happy feeling when one's love is being returned of equal or greater value, heh??

I like the fact that in the end, there were no more causes or reasons or conflicts (besides the part that the guys would die) to stop Kau Chong with his decision to choose which lady he loved most. Both ladies had fair turn, and Kau Chong had a clear view (finally!!) who he now loves most.

I just love the ending (though sad), and wished it had continued on forever!! Hehehe

i agree with everything Thu and Suki said. after watching the series, i was thinking to myself, if i could find myself a love as true, as pure, and as innocent as the one that kau zhong and yuk chi shares, i'll have no regrets in life. *goes off into my dreamland* hehehehe...but since i can't, they're my idols i also wanted to add that, from what i see, people mainly wanted sau ning to be with kau zhong because they wanted 'tavia and raymond' to be a pair, not so much their characters. at least that's how i feel anyway. i apologize if i'm wrong. i think if tavia played yuk chi's character, a lot more people would be a fan of yuk chi instead of calling her annoying and stuff. i like raymond but i was able to love him as kau zhong and li qian as yuk chi. they both were wonderful in portraying their characters.

I'm glad you liked it GX3! And yes, that last sentence sorta foreshadows that Yuk Chi will be in a coma for 10 years. I know, poor thing. But in the TVB's original she had lived for 10 years for KC so I guess it only makes it fairer if he waits for her for 10 yrs in a fanfic. LOLZ

And I really like your signature too. I just love butterflies; they remind me of lovers, especially when you see them in pairs during the spring.

I see that no one is really talking about Fei Huan and Zhi Ling, so I'm going to try to get that topic going. I have noticed that a lot of Ron/Leila fans surfaced before, during and after TOB was boardcasted. I'm not a fan of them, so can anyone tell me what attracts you to this pairing? I thought it was very touching of Zhi Ling to fall so deeply for her, and not mind a life of celibacy (no children so no family of his own). This pairing is not your average sweet sweet pairing. While they love each other deeply, they're very quiet about.

But hey, I'd really like to know why you like them. Maybe there was something I missed?

Look isn't everything. It's the chemistry between the couple that is the most important and the happiness being with the right one. Yuk Chi character suit Kau Chong perfectly!! PLus no offence but this message topic are for Li Qian/Raymond & Ron/Leila. I personally don't like Tavia's character in TOB. But as a respect, I don't go bashing about her under the Tavia/Raymond board. You've the right to express your opinion but maybe put that under other message topic instead.

But since we live in a 'super' superficial world today, I'm being to think that looks are becoming the only thing most people care about now. 'Who cares if they're saint-like inside, they look so ugly!'

I think Sau Ling is very pretty... and is a good character... she gave up everything for her family.

But it's undeniable now that Yuk Chi is just as pretty and just as good a character.

It's in the book, it's in the series, they're MEANT to be together... there's no changing that no matter what people say...
