HK$30m in debt, Steven Ma’s former Manager is officially bankrupt.
Artiste Steven Ma’s former manager, Frankie Fan (范志荣) with HK$30 million in debt, was pressed by one of his 71 creditors, Senior Accountant, Mr. Rong (容永道) to apply for bankruptcy protection last year. At that time, Fan said he would present an IVA debt reorganization proposal that will repay 75% of his debt within 5 years. But the high court revealed that since September last year, a 3 month’s lapse, his proposal had yet to be presented, therefore indicative of bad faith. Accordingly, the court has officially declared him bankrupt. But Fan is still permitted to seek out IVA, and to belatedly present his proposal to the court; if approved, his bankruptcy status will be duly removed.
Currently filming “Stars of Love”, Steven declined any comments when asked about the bankruptcy case. As to Fan’s last year lawsuit against him for half the equity of an apartment, Steven said he will consult his lawyer before making his decision.
*An IVA (Individual Voluntary Arrangement) is a legally binding document between the debtor and his/her creditors

Thanks for your kind offer but I'll probably get it online like always. CNY is pretty quiet where I live. No much of a celebration!
I once had a Malaysian Steven fan sent me a dvd but I couldn't play in my dvd player. Thanks anyway!

tamaya - Steven has always been one of my favourite actors....as I've mentioned in the other thread, now after watching his excellent portrayal of Yuen in SITS, he has risen to the top of my favourite actors list. Steven + Tavia......what a pairing ! Loved them in LOW, really loving them in SITS and looking forward to SOL.....Haha....hopefully there will be kissing scenes here which we hardly get in ancient series. I've not watched all of Steven's series as sometimes I'm busy n I've to choose between 2 series to watch. I skip some of Steven's series as sometimes I am not very fond of the leading actress. Anyway, now I'm keen in watching some of Steven's older series. I see you're a Steven fan, perhaps you can recommend good Steven's series. Also, I don't know chinese.....do you know of english blogs which I can visit to get daily update on Steven? Thanks a lot!

I'm loving Steven more and more as I watched SITS. He is really a great charismatic actor with versatility. He sings well too. Like tvbauntie, he has been one of my top favourite actors but watching him in SITS make him the top of the list. So I think I should make at least 1 post here.
Like tvbauntie, I also have not watched all of Steven's series because sometimes I don't like the leading actresses. But from the ones I have watched of him, he has never disappointed me.
tvbauntie, have you watched Better Halves and SafeGuards? These two are really good.
I'm loving Stevia a lot at this moment. It's weird how they always ended up paired together because one of them is replacing someone else. Steven was replacing Kevin Cheng in LOW. Tavia is replacing Linda in SITS and Steven is (probably) replacing Chilam in SOL (though he was already in the cast list in SOL but perhaps he was given Chilam role instead when Chilam turned down).
Anyway, I think Steven is an underrated actor. He deserves to win the Best Actor with SG rather than just Most Favourite Male Character. It's a consolation that he won Best Actor in a Drama from sina with Tavia.
QUOTE (strawberry67 @ Nov 17 2008 3 33 AM)
"Gosh! Seems like Steven only gets to pair with either Linda or Tavia... what happened to the rest of the tvb female stars?"
That's true, what happen to other female stars? Hope to see Steven team up with others that perhaps can create better chemistry.
He paired up with Bernice twice?? Why? Is something wrong with the chemistry that the two times pairing are not even memorable?
One with Elaine Yiu. One with Yumiko Cheng.
At least the one that he paired up most with are: Linda - most promoted TVB actress Tavia - the best of the crop in her generation
....though I sorta wish he doesn't have to pair up with Linda that often because it only means I have less series to watch.
Steven Ma treats everyone to a Seafood Feast on the set
In the series "The Stars of Love", Steven Ma plays a fish seller boy. Because of the scene requirements, the crew used real fish raft, and on the side white fish baskets were added to make the surrounding setting.
The fish raft could be used for cooking and in an open space, Steven did not know that there were so many benefits in having a fish raft. When he saw the fishes in the raft, he excitingly asked the Boss: "If we brought the fish to roast and eat, will you be able to arrange it for us?" The fish raft boss did not only picked out the big and fat fishes for the entire crew, but also requested his wife to prepare a fish feast for the filming crew. There were 2 fishes that were roasted, 4 of them were steamed and another 4 was fried and eatten immediately. Everyone ate the fishes with many tasty expressions. The fish raft rental is good from the 20th to the 22nd, the filming will need to be done in three days. With the New Year approaching, everyone is happy to have work, Steven decides to "live long", on the 22nd he will treat everyone for a fish feast again with the Fish Raft Boss responsible for making the soup. He also will be buying some other seafoods to add to the feast. "It's just like a family reunion dinner with my colleagues. Hope that in the new year everyone will have gains, spending their days happily!"

Wow! What a surprise to see honored guests visiting this thread. A most welcome to you all! Hey, strawberry67, we have guests here, re-surface to greet them!
Akazukin and tvbauntie:
Besides Better Halves and Safeguards, I also recommend On the track or off, (勇往直前) which was Steven's first male lead and breakout role. The storyline was excellent as were Steven and the cast. But the series is 40 episodes long.
I also like Where the Legend begins Steven looked so good in here. It's like he was chao Zhi right out of 3 kingdoms historical books, except in fancier costumes and hairdo. But be warned it is very sad. Check out its video clips on youtube. posted below is arguably one of the most memorable scenes ever of TVB series.
To get a better idea of the man that Steven is, read his writings first, his people interview before the news reports. His writings are all very short and precise. I recommend you start with his piece post 678 1874
For now, there is no Steven English website/blog. But he does have a very good Chinese website: steven-ma.org and two other active sites: in baidu and steven's warm house You can drop by these sites even if it's only for the pictures and screencaps, galores of them!

tamaya, thanks for the welcome and recommendations. Well, I haven't gotten over my dislike at Charmaine and Ada yet, so that's why I haven't been watching PITNOL and WTLB, even though Steven looks great in the posters of the series.
Who is Steven paired up in the On the Track or Off?
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about The Change of Destiny. I agree with you, for some reason, this series just doesn't stick onto my mind and the ending is just as weird as the beginning and the middle. I think it has something to do with the plot.
So that means Steven had another partner besides Tavia and Linda (and Bernice) that is Shirley Yeung.
Besides BH and SG, I also enjoyed his performance in Steps and Ultra Protection. I thought Steven and Bernice are okay though nothing outstanding about the romance. I enjoy watching his scenes most because he is very natural in his role. I can totally understand why Bernice's character goes the length to pursue him even though he rejected her. I reckon he has very very good chemistry with Wayne Lai. I need to find a time to start watching TGC II (I have bought the DVD but didn't bring it with me).
Steven also has pretty good chemistry with Marianne Chan in Ultra Protection. Well, overall, he has pretty good chemistry with almost anyone. His role is a rather interesting one in Ultra Protection, being a cute, fussy, and cowardly young master growing into a mature and dependable man.
In the realm of success is his series with Nadia Chan right? Correct me if I'm mistaken. I remember I was thinking of renting that series for a lot of times but hesitates and ended up haven't watching it yet because Nadia is not someone I favour although I don't dislike her as much as Charmaine, Ada, and Linda.
So far, Steven gave me a feeling that he is someone who paid a lot of throughts and looks very in-depth to what life is about. He seems to be a very serious and sensitive man in that regards.
tamaya, just out of curiosity, if you are to choose one, which will be your most favourite character of Steven?

Jan 25 2009 3 17 PM
Of all his characters, my most favorite is Gan Yuan of On the track or off. Gan Yuan is a very well-written & fully evolved character, from an exuberant horse lover youngster to a more mature and sober young man. His two co-stars are Bondy Chiu 赵学而 and Ada Choi. I thought Bondy did an excellent job as an overly ambitious, money grabbing villain, whom I could actually sympathize with. Ada's character is a bit too perfect and static for me, though her performance is commendable, too. Of course, my love is Gan Yuan, who, joy of joys, is the indisputable central figure in the storyline, so lots of screentime. His character got to display and express all kinds of emotions. And the storyline is excellent. Though 40 episodes long, the time flew by fast for me. So yeah, Gan Yuan it is, after waffling between his characters in Better Halves, WTLB, and Safeguards. Gan Yuan is my most loved character. Steven was just adorable in the first half of the series, but later his scenes became heartstrings tugging as he matures through life's tribulations.
Yes, his co-star is Nnadia in the realm of success. I couldn't even finished the series, because I didn't like the storyline and the cast's including Steven's performance was dull.
And Linda Chung spoiled VOH II for me. I thought her acting was more than terrible, it was an insult to acting, so I watched that series in a fast forward mode. I was so dreading AJCL but she redeemed herself in my eye. AJCL is an excellent series, but Steven was relegated to a supporting character so as to accentuate Linda's character.
Out all the fadan, Charmaine is my least favorite. I can't stand her voice, and her acting as the perfect princess is not to my liking. In some scenes, she even looked haggard. She was so much better and prettier and fresher in Return Of The Cuckoo. Pitnol dragged too, esp. with all the flashbacks. But Steven looked marvelous as usual, he can't be beat in ancient costumes.
I like WTLB very much so. The whole cast was excellent. I also like Steven as a talkative young doctor in Healing Hands, very cute as he was too in Ultra Protection. In UP, his xiu ye zai stole lots of scenes from Bowie. He and his flossing after being 'kissed' by Bowie. haha!
Sorry for my long post, but couldn't resist this unexpected chance of promoting Steven.
If interested watch what Steven said about his personality.

Treasure Life – All Lives Life? Very strange! Some people, because of some unknown fears, gave up on life! Some people, just so they could continue to see, to breathe, fight for life! One lives, one dies? Who can control? Yet who can prevent? Some people, because of youthful recklessness, created life! Some people, because of regretful mistakes, injured life! Life? Who decides? To give or to take? So long as one still has a breath left, live life to the fullest, savor it! When life is at its end, close the eyes in remembrance, go in peace! Everything but everything is the will of Heaven! Wish to stay, wish to leave? Don’t ask, don’t fret. It’s all what will be will be. Perhaps, those who wish to leave shouldn’t! Wish to stay, then let them stay! This, perhaps is life, predestined, but more so, it’s fate! We should not exploit, or be exploited! Like walking, the road is right in front of us. To continue? To stop? It’s all in our hands! To face life may be tough, but to flee from life is tougher still! Why bother? Go, taste the nectar from the hardships! Why do it? Go, experience the gains from the risks ! To have the courage to face life, more than anything else, makes it more meaningful! *This essay is dedicated to the people of Myanmar (Burma), and to the people around me and ..to myself.

Thank you everyone for your response! Why do I like to ponder on life? Isn’t it tiring? Or boring? Why ask why? Negative? Pessimistic? – Not at all! To ponder life, to question life, is depressing? gloomy? helpless? troubled? Not at all! It is: courage, to confront, to open up, and to be positive! This, to me, is my way of treasuring, a kind of attitude! Up to now, my encounters with birth, old age, illness and death, may not be numerous, yet, they are not few. Everytime, when I witness new life, I’m inspired! Everytime, when an elder talks of the past, I listen attentively! Everytime, when friends and relatives suffer illness, I feel helpless! Everytime, when a life comes to a natural end, I'm resigned! But all these do not change my attitude. Life experiences make people stronger, more resilient! So, what is there to fear? What is to fear are: apathy and indifference! Why not: treasure, value, explore, and seek! And strive together!
Yeah, Steven stole the show in UP for me. If it hasn't for him, I don't think I would finish that series because to be honest, I actually find Bowie's part rather boring. But the part where they are together are quite good, like when he ran away from his home and stayed at Bowie's place. LOL.
I saw some scenes in VOH II and AJCL. Steven's character doesn't seem that likable in VOH II if you ask me. I have seen one scene of AJCL on Linda.

OT: I still think she is very raw. Her acting never impressed me. So far, the only series I think she did ok was GOL, but not excellent, just think that the role fits her because I am never convinced when she played good girl role in HOG and MR.
By the way, do you happen to know what horoscope sign Steven will represent in Stars of Love?

Hello Tamaya and also hello Akazukin and tvbauntie, welcome here. I am so happy coz more and more of Steven's fans are coming into this thread and sharing their view with us. What a good way to start of the new year. Yes, i am also one of Steven's fans and i have almost his entire tv series and cds collections. I hope i could get hold of all his books eventhough i could not read chinese but thanks to Tamaya who did a couple of transalation on the latest:-) I loved all the roles he played especially in Lok Sun and A Journey Called Life. He captured each character given extremely well and he could bring it out so differently. I hope he will be given an opportunity to play a bad guy and let's all see how he'll do it. Meanwhile, wishing everyone here Kung Hei Fatt Choy and all the best in 2009!

Akazukin, btw, The Gentlecrack 2 is also a good series. The last 5 episodes were so explosive it broke TVB peak record at 37 pts for a series aired during the CNY period. So don't let your GC2 dvd set collects dust; watch it - many viewers were surprised by how good it turned out to be. I've not watched GC1 so can't compare the two. The chemistry between Steven and Wayne was so palpable that two fans wrote a detailed and lengthy manifesto on their suspiciously 'brokeback' relationship. A fun read to while away the time. GC 2 manifesto
strawberry67, thanks for the welcome. I'm sure Steven would do just as great if he is given villain role. His versatility so far assures me. I'm just worried that he is too evil to bear if he is given the chance. But as an admirer of good acting skill, I would want to see him trying out an evil role too. Just like Tavia who will finally be given a chance to act as villain in Palace Scheme. And when he is given such role, I hope that his character will be sympathetic despite being a villain.
tamaya, I actually can't wait to watch TGC 2. I didn't watch TGC 1 too because *ahem* I don't like Niki Chow. LOL. You must be thinking there are too many actresses that I don't like but it's kinda true. Well, I'm actually a very picky person in real life too so it's not surprising. But I left it in my parents' house (because my dad wants to watch it) and I have to fly to another country to retrieve it but I'm doing it as soon as possible for sure. Meanwhile, I have a feeling I will be hooked onto SITS for at least a month, like how I usually am with my favourite pairing, rewatching them again and again.
Steven and Wayne brokeback? LOL. Nah, I don't think so. They actually gave me this very close cool buddies relationship. Well, both are actors with great acting skills so it's no wonder their chemistry blast.
Thank you for providing me with the summary of characters in SOL. Actually, hearing Steven's character description makes me sympathised with him already. Michael Tse's and Mandy Cho's characters sound like each other's perfect match. I wonder how Michael will be attracted to Tavia's tomboyish character. I wonder whether Steven will like Tavia to start with or he will like another girl first and they start off from being friends to lovers. This should be the first series where Stevia's relationship isn't about falling in love with each other from the beginning but because Tavia thinks Steven caused her parent's death, she broke up with him and married another guy while he still loves her. It will be interesting to see their chemistry in modern series too, should be quite fresh.
Happy Chinese New Year!

At least you can articulate and explain your likes and dislikes eloquently, and not leave it at - "I don't know, because I just do but I can't really tell you why I do."
Steven and Wayne's chemistry was so intense and their vibes so strong that articles, discussions and fanfics on their characters' relationship sprouted overnight like mushrooms after a rain all over the Chinese cyberspace.
During his interview, Steven was even questioned about the intense discussions on his and Wayne's character's relationship online. The reporter told him about the mv. IIRC, Steven laughed it off by saying if he were to be involved in a brokeback relationship, then Wayne is a good choice for a partner. Don't be put off by Yumiko's early scenes, her acting was raw but overall she did ok in her first tv series. Better than expected.
SOL - Heard that when Michael starting dating Tavia, only then Steven realizes he loves her. Isn't it typical of men?

Steven has updated his Yahoo Blog 2009-01-27 01:20 yahoo blog
A Prosperous Ox Year! 牛年大旺! Gong Hei Fatt Choi! Here’s wishing everybody a prosperous and successful new year, health and happiness! The Stars of Love will wrap up soon. Very happy to so successfully wrap up yet another project! My character is a fishmonger called Ci Yat Bou; nickname, Ci Yat Bo (Slowpoke). The character is very lovable but also quite pitiable, too. Why? You’ll see…
I know many friends are right now watching Sits. Let me tell you this, Nie Ji Yuen is one of my most loved characters. He enabled me to deviate from my usual acting course. Frankly speaking, to portray a character overwhelmed with guilt and burdens but unable to speak out, and is always walking the tightrope of justice, loyalty and love is truly very tough, at the same time, very challenging. I loved it. I hope you all will love it too. I hope those who have already watched Sits will leave your comments, opinions and reviews here, so as to enable me to better hone my acting skill down the road.
In March, I’ll start another series production. I will portray a renowned, historical scholar, Pu Songling (蒲松齡)
That’s it for now. Bye! Bye! p/s enclosed is a picture of Ci Yat Bou at work. Not too bad, eh?
for yoyo and fans who want to listen to Steven's songs online. websites with Steven's songs
http://www.1ting.com/singer/09/singer_592.html check the brown boxes on the right side it will play the checked song on a different screen the songs will play continuously unless you check the blue box on left side I've never downloaded any of his songs myself. Don't know how.
Steven again updated his blog on the 27th. His fans' vigil on his blog paid off for them as they 'caught' Steven responding to their questions and comments.
One question he responded to was the numerous complaints about his limited screen time so far. He told them not to blame TVB or his mentor Director Lee for that. It was his choice to portray Yuen (despite the screen time) because he was drawn to Yuen's inner struggles and conflicts as such presented a big challenge to his acting skill. That to him was what being an artiste is all about, ever growing as an artiste. That Yuen is one of his most loved character. He threw a "Dang Ngo" (wait for me) to his fans to end their chat. lol! We'll wait!
Will translate his online chat with fans as soon as I can.
stay tune.
Oh, do mosey over to his blog to look at the SOL photos he posted. yahoo blog

tamaya, akazukin - Thank you for the recommendations! I've watched "Steps" - a very entertaining series and I loved the dancing theme. As for the rest....... I think I've watched "better halves" - the series with Maggie Cheung, if I'm not wrong. Maybe I should watch "safeguards" - it has very good reviews but the only thing I'm worried abt is the leading actress, Elaine Yiu. I did not like her before but now I believe she has improved... Perhaps I should also watch TBOL - I believe Steven portrays a lawyer......I'm not a big fan of Bernice but she's ok. Steven in suits.......dashing......I must try to look for these dvds.
tamaya - No english blogs.....never mind.....I will come to this thread to get updates on Steven. Thanks for the info on SOL - I don't know chinese. If you've the time.... can you please give a brief description of the characters in english? Thanks a lot! Thanks also for Steven's latest news - I love Lip Ji Yuen and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a happy Stevia ending. Steven + Tavia - love this pairing.....it's so nice that I can look forward to SOL after SITS. Steven looks great in SOL picture.

Steven's message on his Yahoo blog.
2009-01-27 13:57 Haha! Looks like many friends here are a bit disgruntled, wondering why Ji Yuen’s screen time in Sits seems rather limited. Let me say some words of fairness here. This is not the company's fault, nor is it my mentor, Tim Goh's fault. (Director Lee). It was my own personal choice to take on the character of Yuen.
As an actor, even though I’m still far from being veteran, but these 10 years or so acting experiences have taught me how an actor must continue to strive for self-improvement through challenges and changes. If I continue to persist on portraying similar ‘good’ characters, maybe my supporters will like them; but truth be told, I believe not only a huge portion of the viewers will be tired of this sameness, so would I.
People have to grow up; actors too need to grow. Acting is an art. I’m not a performing arts graduate; don’t have the professional foundation to build from. What I have are training-on-the-job experiences. However, I am lucky to have had the opportunities to learn from seasoned veterans such as: Catherine Tsang, Kent Cheng, Kwok Fung, Cheung Chi-Gwong, Lee Kok Long, Wayne Lai, and Liu Dang etc. (曾勵珍, 鄭則仕、郭峰、蔣志光、李國麟、黎耀祥、劉丹等,) If one day my acting received genuine approbation from the general public, only then will I be considered a specialist/master/expert!(? something like that? help!) 师成百家
As for Yuen, I really like this character a lot. The scriptwriter(s) delineated him very well and very ‘human’. He is proficient in both martial arts and literature, and possesses what he thought was a righteous heart but turns out to an embattled, ignorant heart; always balancing loyalty, righteousness and love on a tightrope. That kind of helplessness, and the pain and hurt emanating from his helplessness & vulnerability are exactly what drew me to him!
Actually in this series, every one of the cast did a good job, like Sing Suet, Tin Hin, Tin Fai, Tou, Wu Lou Ye, Yi Suk etc. They really put in their best efforts. I hope you all will use your hearts to really enjoy this series, to savor the efforts behind it, and by doing so will relish it more.
Today, I transformed from Seng Yat On to Yip Ji Yuen, and thereafter from Zau Yung Gong to Ci Yat Bo. Soon I’ll be Po Song Ling. And after that…hopefully there will be another surprise soon! Wait for me! 等我!
2009-01-27 14:27 Thank you all for your support and encouragement! Today is the beginning of the new year. Here wishing everybody a very happy ox year!
2009-01-27 14:55 My next series should be with Linda and Fala, whom I adore! We’ll see…..
2009-01-27 15:30 Awards, I’d like that. But before granted an award, must put in efforts first. As an actor, to receive approbation for one’s acting is what is most important and valuable. To this end, I'm still striving to achieve it. What I truly hope for is the approbation from the general public of my acting skill. However, encouragements are never too late!
Hi guys, looks like I still need to watch some of Steven's earlier series in order to catch up to your discussion. However, the thing that FORCED me to speak up is to agree with tamaya about Steven's and Wayne's "brokeback" relationship in TGCII. Seriously, towards the latter half of the series, it seems like they would only have their eyes for each other. Each scene of theirs will put you on the edge of your seat. Each confrontation makes you feel more and more for the pair. And I have never been as sad when they had to separate at the end of the series. If you know how much I love Fungyi, then let's just say that their interaction left just as big an impression on me as Fungyi did in TOB. TGCII was easily my favorite series in 2008 but of course, my most enjoyable series to watch, up to date, is still Better Halves. WTLB was good but it was heart-breaking as well and Ada did a good job in there, so hope you'll give it a chance, Akazukin.

tamaya, thanks for the information. So that means Michael Tse will break up with Mandy Cho and does it mean Tavia will like Steven first before he realised that he likes her too? (I was thinking that he would like her in his childhood day and the feeling is reignited when they meet each other again but he is scared and slow in confessing to her, but I guess I'm wrong like I always do when the series has not aired). Well, like his character's name, he is late in realising that he likes Tavia. But what does he mean by Chi Yat Bo being a tragic character? I hope it doesn't mean that he is not going to end up with Tavia again.
Thanks for translating his message. And glad to know that Nip Ji Yuen is his favourite character so far because I definitely love and loving this character more as I watch. It's great to know that Steven really put depth into Nip Ji Yuen character and he is able to see the potential depth in the character the moment he heard about the character because honestly, if it is acted out by some other actors, they may fail to show the depth of Nip Ji Yuen. Steven did it perfectly. I want to write a message in his blog about Nip Ji Yuen and SITS when I have time, maybe after the end of vacation because writing chinese words takes me a long time. Hope that it would not be too late when I have the time to write it and that he would still read it.
leeannee, I would need to get myself out of dislikeness on Ada first before I will give WTLB a chance, because it is really painful to watch someone you like liking someone you don't like. And from the synopsis, it seems that their romance is rather intense and Steven's character being too good to Ada's character so to be able to enjoy that, I must not dislike Ada first.
PS. Steven looks so cute in the SOL pic. I have a feeling that I will like Chi Yat Bo already.

Welcome, leeannee, and yoyo, Akazukin, welcome back.
Right now waiting for ep 18 to finish buffering, so annoying! Akazukin: Hope you're enjoying your vacation right now. As for me, I'm right now icebound by the winter storm sweeping the area.
I don't know much about sol storyline, except what I gleaned from rumors, so your guess is as good as mine. As to Chi Yat Bo being a tragic character, Steven says he is '可悲' - maybe I should use pitiable instead? Tragic might be too strong of an adjective. And while we're at it, how would you translate 师成百家?
because honestly, if it is acted out by some other actors, they may fail to show the depth of Nip Ji Yuen. Steven did it perfectly.
I was just thinking that myself. Asking myself if I would support Ji Yuen just as much if acted by another less capable actor. Ep 18 was heartbreaking to watch. There is no doubt in my mind whom Suet loves most, and being the kind of woman Suet is, her choice is to be expected.
Steven says he reads them. Also he tells his fans not to buy gifts for him (esp. expensive ones) when attending his public functions, instead give him a letter on their thoughts or analysis of his series or just words of encouragement and support. He will be just as happy to receive them, if not more, because they took time to write to him. So you bet he will read his Yahoo blog messages, if not now then later.
I'm lucky that I can put aside my dislike (if any) for any actresses co-starring with Steven in a series. I'm very much 爱屋及乌 (love me love my dog. lol
If I had known, I would have posted earlier. 555555 This is what I get for not posting!
For me, Steven looks the best as Chou Ji

Steven has updated his yahoo blog again. 2009-01-29 02:52 Wrote a lot of stuff - will translate when have the time.
Briefly, he said since he got some downtime, he went online to check out the discussions on Sits. He's happy to see such intensity, and support and enthusiasm for the series. That's the best kind of feedback any artiste could hope for. But at the same time, he was also taken aback by how very explosive and heated some discussions were. He, as well as his co-stars, would not wish to see such discords among the viewers. That he wants his viewers to feel happy watching his show and not be upset by it, especially in this economic trying times. He advocates tolerance and consideration for all parties. (Didn't I say earlier that the Baidu discussions were "murderous" lol!) He also mentioned that while he was acting Yuen, he was so into the character that he became quite depressed during that period. Love but didn't dare to love....

^His work place actually looks pretty romantic! For Steven's new character, is it confirmed whether he'll be pairing up with Fala or Linda? I really hope that his partner this time will be Fala because he has paired up with Linda at least 3 times already. I want to see new chemistry. Hm... gotta go shake away the image of Steven and Fala being siblings first though.

Most probably with Linda. Fala has yet to lead. His workplace does seem pretty romantic especially with all those silk flowers decorating it.
Steven blog update:2009-01-29 02:52 am Taking advantage of these few days of New Year’s holidays, I browsed through several discussion forums to see what the viewers had to say about Sits.
Very happy; truly. I feel that everybody is very much into it, very engaged. This, is what we thespians most hoped for responses. I sincerely thank everybody.
In every series, every character; all characters carry with them their own antecedents, which when combined with the everyday occurrences will result in cause and consequence outcomes. I personally think that the characters in Sits are all very well delineated and very realistic. By ‘realistic’ I mean displaying human traits! Regardless of protagonists or antagonists, if their characters were acted to their fullest potential, the results would turn out great and full of drama.
Ji Yuen, Ting Hin and Sing Suet; three people who should not travel the same journey, but fate entangled them; is it tragedy? Or is it karma?
I still recall when filming this series, because of my total immersion in the story, I became Ji Yuen. During that period, I truly became very melancholy. I loved her but dare not and could not. I wasn’t good enough for her…those kinds of feelings were truly hard to bear. Facing Ting Hin, (he is truly a good person but afflicted with bad health); although a good friend, he is nevertheless in love with my own beloved. Before him, I feel unworthy and inferior.
Yee! Let’s not discuss this first; else I might accidentally give away the story.
By the way, on the discussion forums, some net friends while supporting us at the same time seem full of explosives. This is what we don’t wish to see happen. To have you all so engaged in watching our product is our blessing. But if to have you all so angry or unhappy on our behalf, that will only make us feel bad. Nowadays, with the economy in such a bad shape, people should all the more be more tolerant and considerate of each other. While there’s no need to sugarcoat your words, there is even less need for exchanges of harsh words. I believe it’s better this way!
Haha! Writing, writing, didn’t realize it’s so late already. Will chat next time!
note: similar emoticons displayed on his blog.
I guess Steven truly loved this character.

Thanks for the pic of Ci Yat Bo's workplace - it does look romantic. Haha....maybe Tavia will come and Stevia will share a sweet kiss.....
Yes, I agree that episode 18 is quite heartbreaking - my heart wthas bleeding when Yuen said to Suet that she will always be his very good friend. I loved the part when Yuet saved Suet - ahh...so romantic.
Thanks for the translation of Steven's message - Steven is such a nice guy! Wish I know chinese and can post on his blog, about how much I love Yuen and are hoping that Yuen/Suet will have happy ending. ( hopefully Steven will visit this thread n read this)

Hey tamaya, thanks for doing the transalation. So happy that Steven updated his blog and uploaded some photos for us. Hum... i must say that we have more of Steven's fans coming to this thread recently. I just saw the mtv on Steven and Wayne, the song was so appropriate with the video clip! I truly enjoyed watching SITS especially there was one scene where Steven found out Tavia is getting married when they bumped into each other on the street. He was so sad but have to put up a happy face infront of her. He acted so well on that part and i could see tears/sparkle in his eyes. Anyway i just finised watching episode 19 of SITS and it's getting more and more interesting!

Actually, besides yoyo, our guests are more of Tavia's fans, but they have graciously dropped by to say hi. Anyway, no matter what Steven said, I still wish he had more screen time. Miss seeing Yuen on screen. And I find the wu family drama a bit dragging.
for you, Strawberry67 Yuen: I heard you're getting married soon.
Flitting facial emotions, how hard was it for Yuen to spit out his congratulations. Yuen: Congratulations!

Chatting right now. He seems to be in a very contemplative mood, topic ranges from politics to life perspective to . To advising fans to love those around them because lately there's lots of accidental deaths in HK. And he has uploading many candid pictures. so mosey over there.
No I've never chatted with him online before. A fan said Steven is updating a whole year of messages on his blog within these past 2 days. lol!
So how do you like Sits so far? It's tough being a Steven fan because his screen time is so limited. Buffering ep 20 right now, and there's hardly any Ji Yuen's scenes at all.

While on line, the sichuan fans managed to persuade Steven to visit the earthquake devastated area. He promised he will make time to go in February and will keep his words. The fans are right now planning a fans gathering there. Lucky them!
Steven paid the fishermen to prepare fish soup and fish feast so as to treat his SOL co-workers to a CNY meal.
Sudden Weekly - Tavia Yeung sticks to Steven Ma to avoid rumours Friday January 30, 2009 Hong Kong Credits: to jessie @ http://jessie1314.blogspot.com Source : Sudden Weekly
Ever since Tavia Yeung was rumoured dating King Of Light Box, Yeung Ji Kiu, she became the target of those reporters. Heard that unless necessary, she would stay at home in order to avoid reporters. However, she is filming The Stars Of Love recently and has to work everyday. How? Luckily she got Ma Jai ---- Steven Ma!
When Tavia reached filming scene, immediately she was questioned by reporters about her rumours.
Steven Ma really knows what to do and quickly walked over to Tavia to help her out.
Steven Ma is well-known for his politeness and caring, especially towards his co-stars in same series in every possible way. After filming a raining scene, he did not wipe himself instead he helped out Tavia to dry out first. He is no doubt a gentleman.

How lucky for the fans in China. They managed to catch hold of him online and they will be seeing him soon in Feb. I believe Steven will keep his words.

Well, he is truly a gentleman and i believe a lot of artist enjoyed working with him. Most of the female artist said they treat him like a big brother.
Reply postings 2009-01-30 12:51 I’ve promised you all that if I had the time I will update. Also, I’ve read every one of your messages, and will continue to do so in the future. Thank you all for your concern and support!
Also, besides Hong Kong friends, friends from mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore, even though we don’t get to meet that often; but for your kind regards, let my silence speaks for my unspoken words of appreciation. Anyway, here’s wishing friends from all over the world a happy and healthy life!
2009-01-30 20:24 Hmm! I’m not into politics. I only know that I’m a Zhong kwok yan (Chinese), that will never change! During my living years, aim to live well, to do good by myself, that’s good enough!
2009-01-30 20:33 Haha! That’s life ma, Just be happy! Be nice to people. Treasure what you have, that’s enough!
2009-01-30 20:43 In every country as a citizen, there’s only one insistence, which is, to reach our fullest potential within our own category, regardless of how colorful the outside world may be, or how very treacherous it is; trust me, it’s enough to do good by ourselves.
2009-01-30 20:55 I’m taking these few days off so I can take a break. Filming everyday is quite tiring. So I decided to get online to see you all. Don’t worry, whenever I’m free I’ll come! Truly! Thank you for your affection…
New entry 2009-01-30 21:00 topic: Life is really unpredictable!
Life is really unpredictable! Living, is it a blessing? Or is living the same as existence? To me, living and existence are not the same! Lately in Hong Kong there’ve been numerous traffic accidents; many people unexpectedly passed away! Frankly, I have no one religious belief. But this sense of helplessness is difficult to get rid of. Since young, I have witnessed too many deaths! Sometimes, I really don’t want to see any more of it, but what to do, people have their destiny and heaven exerts its will. Why suddenly brought up this subject, there’s only one purpose, it’s hoping that you all, including myself, will in our living years or in your loved ones’ living years to give them a hug to let them know and feel they are being loved! I hope you don’t think I’m being too preachy to you all.
Previously, Sichuan fans were discussing their personal experiences of last year earthquake.
Reply postings 2009-01-30 21:57 China has always been a country of many catastrophes. How long have it endured to become what it is today? Politics? We dare not talk about it nor understand it. One thing for sure, without country, there’s no homes. History? from where? Wasn’t it derived from the tens of thousands of skulls? Sorry, I said no talks of politics and here I go; I was wrong!
2009-01-30 22:21 Remember, people have to depend on themselves. If the world abuses you, you can still lift up your head and ask why. But if you abuse yourself, then you can only hung your head desolately. People have to open their eyes wide, look to the sky? ask the earth? and ask ourselves? Whether to obey submissively or to forge boldly ahead? Who scare of whom?
2009-01-30 22:37 Actually the teacher I most loved is Teacher Tang唐君毅老師. He was Teacher Xiu Xi’s teacher! What I like is his philosophy. His “人生之體驗" (human’s experiences) and its sequel are my favorite books.
2009-01-30 22:48 Teacher Xiu Xi is Professor Lu, a former lecturer in 中大(U of HK?)
2009-01-30 22:55 Sichuan fans reporting experiencing tremors in their areas.
2009-01-30 23:08 Remember, there’s no 2nd chance for re-living a life! Treasure all that you have. Do cherish, do love. Friends in disaster areas, you must continue to live well! If there’s anything I can do that’s within my capabilities, I’ll do it.
2009-01-30 23:11 Several Sichuan fans asked him to come and support them and their people
2009-01-30 23:24 Fine! I’ll try my best to arrange it. In February I’ll go to Sichuan!
Other fans quickly invited him to go to their own hometowns.
2009-01-30 23:31 I have to go to Sichuan first. This is to show support. I’ll arrange it. Don’t worry!
2009-01-30 23:40 Since I said it, I will do it. I’ll go, not to eat spicy food, but just to be there! When? Please don’t ask. If I said I go, I’ll go!
2009-01-30 23:50 Sichuan friends, I say I’ll go, I’ll be there. Net friends, don’t worry, local food and water won’t bother me. Let me represent you all to send your regards! Arranging it now…..
2009-01-30 23:58 You all go to bed now. Will chat next time, guai! (be good!)
2009-01-31 03:42 When do I visit Sichuan, you all won’t get to know that beforehand. And no need for anyone to pick me up. In my Yahoo blog whatever I shared with you all are all my personal business, it has nothing to do with the company. Please don’t misunderstand.
Aww.....Steven is such a nice guy.....helping Tavia out. Yes, my favourite TVB actress is Tavia. As for my favourite TVB actor......I like quite a few of the guys but never really ranked them. Now after watching so many series (currently watching Sweetness in the Salt) + recently reading Steven's news articles.......Steven is definitely at the top of My favourite TVB actors list. I will certainly be watching out for his future series (if there's time, I'll also watch his older series) and will also definitely be dropping by this thread for Steven's updates.

gist: During CNY, Steven did a shot whereby he had to jump into the water to pick oysters. The water was so frigid that his whole body became numb. He did not even know that he had cut his foot on an oyster shell until he came out of the water and saw his foot bleeding. Only then did he feel pain. The cut was quite deep, too.
During the CNY hols, Steven stayed home and invited some friends to play 打四方城 (?)(does it mean majong') and won quite a bundle of money. (fatt choi) Steven joked his sudden wealth (fatt choy) must be because earlier when cut his foot he saw 'red' (blood) - a good omen to the start of a new year.
