yeh, that's a very long time he's been in the movie industry. Although he's not in that many series, I think a lot of people still like him ( at least we do). hehhe, And all of him series are worth watching, don't you think? I hope he stays in the showbiz longer because i want to see him more in series and movies.

Wow, he likes lady who likes kids? hmm , interesting, I guess it's because he likes kids himself. In an interview i read, he also said that whoever his future wife is, she would have to work very hard as a housewife, at the same he will support the whole family because he's an traditional person. In return he will love his wife more. Isn't that sweet? I think he will be a wonderful husband and father as well. Whoever his future wife is, will be so lucky.

there were like rumours about how they were going out and stuff. nd sonija said that steven was making that up for publicity..nd steven said there's no such thing. nd he got made because she said that bout him...so they got into a fight...

Chiu Chow kid Steven Ma's family does not have the tradition of visiting at the new year, so he has always had a lot of freedom at the new year. When he was younger, after eating the family meal on New Year's Eve, his parents would take him to an aunt's to eat 'Ham Cha' (Salty Tea) until this aunt passed away and he was no longer able to eat it any more. However, he has sorely missed this traditional food from his origins.

Last year, when Steven mentioned this story to TVB's hair stylist 'big sister' Tai Kuen, he found out that her sister-in-law knows how to make 'Ham Cha' and offered to make some for him. This year, Steven remembered the recipe to make this dish and tried to prepare it for himself to relive the feeling of the past. As the put a spoonful of Ham Cha into his mouth, he could only say: "I am speechless, it is too delicious!"

As Steven cooked the dish, he seemed very au fait with it and it turns out that his father looks after the cooking at home, but he has managed to absorb some of his skills and cooking is no challenge to him. He still remembers that in the early hours of bygone New Years, his parents would fry up some prawn crackers, but he didn't know the meaning behind it. Also, every year, his father would stew a big pot of squid and pork that they could go and eat at any time during the new year. "My father made a pot this year too, when he went to buy the squid, the stall owner was curious as to what he was making. As well as squid and pork, the other ingredients are winter mushrooms and lettuce." With his father doing the cooking, as well as watching, Steven's other use was to make soup dumplings. His favourite food is savoury soup dumplings that are filled with winter mushrooms, pork and dried shrimp, then put into boiling soup. he feels that this soup is the most delicious.

"In the past, in the morning of the new year when I woke up, I would kneel and present tea to my mother and father to greet them. On the second day, we would eat Muli cake and New Year cake, but now we are all grown up, when we see it at home, we will already go and eat it a few days before the new year." Steven then suddenly adds: "As we are Chiu Chow people, my father would put a cup of strong Kung Fu Tea down to drink, but now he does not do that because they are busy and we have not learned how to do it and the tradition will be lost. However, my father does buy flowers to decorate the home. This year we did not buy any peach blossom because the petals fall all over the floor. We did buy some narcissus and in the past we have bought chrysanthemums and gladioli, but now my family are not interested."

As Steven does not want his father to work too hard, they ordered a 'basin banquet' for the end of year meal together with a couple of extra dishes that his father likes such as chicken and squid. After six months of working away, Steven is happy to be able to spend the occasion in Hong Kong with his family

Steven Ma also appeared at the show as a guest star and received his lucky packet and some real gold. Of course he was pleased, but as the temperature at the venue was quite high, he only wore a thin top, but even without dancing, he was sweating a lot. Even his contact lens had moved out of position and this made him rather uncomfortable. In the new year, he visited Macau with his family for a day and although he did not try his luck in the casino, for the first time in over ten years, he played Mah Jong to fill the space on the table and lost a few thousand dollars. Luckily, he received $10,000 in lucky packets, the largest being from his publishing boss who gave him $5000. Steven has recently renewed his contract with TVB for another 18 months and will begin filming series again on 1st April. Also, he hopes to be able to move to the variety show artistes department and admits he would very much like to be an MC.

Oh man, You haven't watch Perish In The Name of Love yet? It's a very very good serie. I recommand you rent it and watch it. It's a must watch serie. Yeah, i heard that in the oprah story, the couple died, but in this serie, they don't die.Well, can't tell you anymore, i don't want to spoil it. But definitely you should watch it.

Having shown a great interest in Chinese History, Steven Ma was invited by RTHK's Educational Programme Unit to appear in a series profiling Chinese historical figures. This show is aimed at primary school students and covers the lives of four characters from China's history books, including Xiang Yu, Emperor Tang Taizhong, Lin Zexu and Lu Xun. Steven will be playing the part of Lu Xun.

Taking part in Educational TV for the first time, Steven was very excited and said: "Lu Xun is a great patriotic literary hero in recent history and to be able to play him makes me very happy. Also as this is an educational show, there is a great meaning to it all that cannot be weighed up with money." The series will be aired from April.

Reports indicate that the ETV team asked Steven to play the part because they felt that his appearance and manner was very resemblant of Lu and when the photographs of his character were released, it caused some gasps from the educational inspectorate. Steven laughs: "At the new year, I had a flat top haircut and originally it was for convenience, but I never thought that this would cause the inspectors to think that I looked like Lu Xun, even without the make-up."

Steven will be playing Lu in his youth during his time studying in Japan and for realism, the director built a classroom set in a Japanese Shinto temple and borrowed an antique 8mm projector for the setting. The titles will show an older image of Lu and Steven will have to add a moustache. When he tried on the make up, everyone immediately called out how good it looked so this then became the image they used. With his recent interest in Chinese history, Steven admits that he has gained so much from this show, because he has been able to live the patriotism and spirit of Lu Xun and this has inspired him to learn more in his spare time.

Steven Ma's new book "Steven Ma's Tales of Society - Turn for the better, Turn for the Worse" is in preparation for launch and in order to show support his former school's pledge to seek out artistic potential and personal expression, he has handed over the design for the cover of his new book to his successors at the school in the form of a design competition. Yesterday, Steven was invited back to the school for the awards ceremony and shared his creative inspirations with his young schoolmates.

Steven's competition attracted many students to take part and he received over thirty entries of a very high standard. Steven was very impressed with their creativity and after much deliberation, a winner was selected to be used as the cover for his book. Talking of why he offered the design of the cover to schoolchildren, Steven explains that the topic of his latest book is young people's issues and he feels that through the competition, he can get closer to the youth culture of today. He particularly liked the winning entrants use of many colours, inspiring thought from the readers.

Returning to his old school, Steven felt very warm and happy. He has strong feelings for his school and feels that it was strong in both the teaching staff and the facilities. Although it was affected by the earlier wave of 'violence in the schoolyard', Steven feels that all schools will have an element of young people's problems and laughs that he was once a student and there is no school where students don't fight. He also feels that every child will have a time when they become rebellious, but the school is a place to teach them and turn them to the good and we should not overlook the good work of the teachers. "However, I never hit anyone when I was at school and no-one wanted to hit me, I used to wear gold-rimmed glasses and looked very studious." He says.

Up to today, after leaving school for so many years, Steven still remembers the words of his teacher. Seeing that teacher again so dedicated to teaching, he says: "This school's standards of education really are excellent."

Recently, with many reports of artistes showing abnormal behaviour, such as drunken rowdiness, speeding or using soft drugs to try and numb onesself, it has to be remembered that nothing is forced upon you and it is up to you to choose the normal life that you wish to lead. An prime example is Steven Ma - he has tried alcohol and late night partying, but in the past year, he has undergone some radical changes. Quitting alcohol, quitting late parties, Steven can now be found doing sports or reading and studying in a life that has totally calmed down as he asks the reporter whether these topics will be a little boring. In fact, his life is full of fun and interest as he proves that artistes do no thave to live in the life of drinking and partying to catch the attention of others, many readers still like to take some positive aspects from the lifes of the performers.

Steven says: "When I see my friends like that, I will try to persuade them to give up the alcohol and late nights. Now I will go to sleep at 11pm when I can and wake up at 8am. Then I will do some training with my trainer and recently I have been learning to play table tennis. I have quit eating oily and fried foods, eating three bananas a day instead and also been studying Chinese History as an extra-curricular activity in a way similar to distance learning, but just without the certificates. I am becoming more and more interested in Chinese History and I have bought many books on the great leaders such as Mao Tse-Tung and Deng Xiaopeng to try and understand their stories."

After Steven's transformation, he has also had a Dream of China. He says: "Later, I will be going on a holiday to Hainan Island as my father once worked there and I would like to go and seek some stories of my father. After that, I would like to go to Harbin to see the ice carvings. There are many places in the Mainland that are worth a visit and I am not afraid of it being hard work as I am particularly interested in the developing countries, so I would really like to visit India too. In contrast, the developed countries such as Japan and France stir no interest in me. Living in Hong Kong has made me realise what fortune is. We have whatever we want and this is a land of fortune, with no earthquakes or other natural disasters or wars, no living each day in fear and not wanting for food every day. Developed countries do not allow me to experience life, the poor and undeveloped places give me a better lesson in appreciating life and learning to treasure it."

Steven has been filming in the Mainland a lot recently and every time he works there, he has stayed a little while to understand the situation there, learning about life through his work.

"Once, when I was filming in Meizhou and it was very rural there with very few facilities, but the people work hard to farm and live off what they grow. Because of this, their standard of living was not very high and was very simple, with a bowl of wantan noodles costing just a few cents. I wonder why we live under the same great sky, but have such a great difference in how we live. We must not live in fortune and not know it and we should learn not to take things for granted." Steven says.

Filming in the mainland means that Steven spends no more than $2000 a month and in Hong Kong there is no way this would happen. He says: "Sometimes, one meal will exceed this! However, I understand that life can be so simple, in the mainland, I can wear simple clothes. The artistes have very simple and comfortable appearances, but they are not simple at all and they all have very disciplined and structured training in singing and acting as they encompass many years of study and hard work. Working with them, it makes me realise the point that there are many people greater than you and artistes who talk about designer labels and high class cars, should also be upgrading themselves and their skills."

From his experiences in the Mainland, Steven has started his journey to seek his Dream of China and as a Chinese person, he dream has just started. As for romance, he is yet to start, but he believes that this is not for him to seek as his outlook on love is to go with destiny. He says: "In the past I am looking for 'love at first sight' and set a lot of criteria for myself, such as long hair and so on. As I have grown up, I feel that these are just on the surface, the most important thing is that we can communicate, such as discussing history and talking about life, then even if she has no hair, we can still be together." As Steven changes his outlook on life, his outlook on love has changed with it too.

Steven Ma's publishing house Kin Sing Cultural Press has already launched three of Steven's books on society and is now working together with the Shantou University Press who have bought the right to his first book 'Why Suicide?' and reprinted it with the new title "Rescuing the Solemn Life" to launch throughout China as of 24th May. Seeing his first buds flowering in the Mainland, Steven is very happy and says: "I am very happy and very excited because it has finally come to fruition after a year of negotiations and I feel that my company has finally taken its first step into the Chinese market."

How was the price for the copyright? Steven says that the Shantou University Press offered a very satisfactory price and he says with great feeling: "Shantou University Press has the same cultural thinking as Kin Sing as they both publish books that are of benefit to society. As their direction is the same, they reached an agreement. Shantou is my native town and this time I had the help of a fellow Chiu Chow native and it was especially warming, proving that Chiu Chow people are very united."

Also, Shantou University Press are very interested in Steven's other books and as well as undertaking further negotiations, they have also suggested that they should co-operate again and work on another cultural project, making Steven very enthusiastic. He adds: "These are the results of a group of cultural workers who have the same goals. The Mainland version of my book is like my own son and if this book can be distributed throughout the country, it is as though my children are all over China and that excitement is hard to describe."

Steven is sooo kyooote!!!! but haven't heard of him for a long time!!!! wish he can be in more news and movies!!!! and more albums!!! lol..i got this album of his yesterday at the music store! its soooo good!!! when he sings sad songs, some of them are good some of them are really boring... lolz... i rather hear him sings so fast/cute songs and stuff.... OOHH YEAH! at this small show or sumfin, he went onstage and rap in english! lol

Steven Ma recorded the themesong to Guangdong Radio's environmental event entitled "Blanket" in April and since then, the song has not only reached the top of the charts in Guangdong province two weeks running, but has also entered the 'World Chinese Songs Chart' at number 10 this week. The lyrics to the song are very encouraging, saying that all one has to do is work hard and enthusiasticaly and any problems and hardships can be won through. "Even the heavens will help" as these words have been engrained into the hearts of listeners in the Guangdong and Guangxi provinces.

Achieving these results, Steven admits he is rather surprised as this was an unintentional success as his main goal was simply to help promote the benefits of the environmental project and he never imagined that the song would do so well. He is very excited and finds this a great encouragement to him. This success has given a new inspiration to Steven in his musical career: "It turns out that apart from commercial songs, educational songs are also popular, so in the future, I will add an educational factor into my songs."

Having just extended his contract with TVB for a further two years, Steven will be returning to TVB shortly to film some series as well as taking some Mainland series. He laughs: "Some friends see me working low profile lately and are worried that I will retire from showbiz. Don't worry, I will not let go of my performance work until I am at least 40 years old as I have never thought about pulling out." He also pledges that he will continue to work hard!
