I use to like hong kong movies, but they have been losing their touch for the pass couple of years. My heart has moved to korea, korean films are more realistic, passionate, lovable, and ROMANTIC

yeah i love Korean movies now, especially the comedy/love ones like My Sassy Girl and Windstruck. Japan is best for horror. but HK has still made the best action movies.

i prefer HK movies, but i've grown up with them, so i love them, HK films aren't as good as they used to be, but theres still a few a year i tend to love.

I think Holywood movies are still the best, though they have been runningout of ideas these days! HK movies are often made into funny style! Korean movies are so romantic and often over cooked, too much unneeded tears shed! Taiwanese movies, they are so idolistic and sometimes the main theme is lost in track! IN the end, there s only Holywood movies left!

For martial arts, i think hong kong makes the best movies, as for sci-fi, and fantasy, it would be mostly US. Horror..... can't really find anything scary for years, would really love to see a real scary movie since i love horror films. Comedy I think they all got their own share of it, different kind of humor, i like them all. When it comes to animation, it gotta be the japanese and..... some movies like The Incredibles in the US

when it comes to movies, i think america has the best ones...they put more money into it. the special effects are better..but soemtimes asian movies have better storylines..

Most of the time Hollywood movies' storylines are made by a formula that they just rearrange some parts of the story around and change the title and they have a movie...i like international because they are unpredictable , unrealistic special effects but often stylized which are very creative solutions for a small budget....

I like Korea movie because the story and the music it made me impress and I like America movie too.The reason that I like America movie the actor and actress very hard work for owns movie.

the storylines, acting and delivery are far better in new korean films than those coming out of any other country. ki-duk kim and chan-wook park films are brilliant.

but i have to add that akira kurosawa is my alltime fav director (and seven samurai and yojimbo my fav movies), and toshiro mifune is one of the best actors that ever lived. i'm also a miike fan and am getting into fukasaku in a big, big way! and takeshi movies have meade me cry...both from sorrow and happiness.

also yimou zhang probably makes the most beautiful films in the world and kar wai wong tells excellent stories.

though nothing beats a great shaw brothers like 36th chamber or eight diagram...and then i can't ignore stephen chow...

Hello!!! I was amazed with the movie SO CLOSE!!!! At first I thought it was just another asian movies but when I watched it, it was really good!!!! The action scenes were very good but I watched the english version not the original version.... I didn't saw the love scene of Shu Qi & Song Seung Hun.... blush I didn't know that got hooked in the movie.... blush I hope there will be a transcript posted here of the original movie....

Right now I think I prefer Korean films and series. My Sassy Girl, A Moment to Remember, The Classic, Windstruck... they all made me cry and I recommend them all If your looking for a good Korean series I suggest Winter Sonata (with Bae Yong Jun) it's really good. I also hear the Stairway to Heaven (with Kwon Sang-Woo) is really good too . If you've seen it, you should tell me if it's good . I also really like HK films also.

But i'm finding moer good korean movies. but that's probably more to do with the fact I only started watching recently and I'm watching all the good ones, whereas been watching HK for ages now, and watched alot of bad ones. But there are good HK movies now, although most arent that great, but still good.

HK movies are the best in terms of action and acting, but there not as good as before. Korean movies are funny but many of the good ones are romantic comedies and there isn't much diversity. But Korean movies are moving on up.

I used to watch HK Movies all the time and love it very much, but now a day hk movie getting worst and some are very boring....I still watch it but if getting bored i will turn it off...

Yojimbo, love that film, I also like sanjuro which is not that good. I recommend Zatoichi meets yojimbo as well. I love the rather dry wit in those films.

Other than that I like America for films. The Usual supects, Glengarry Glen Ross, Pulp fiction, The Shawshank Redemption and many others.

I like J-Movies, but not the scarry-thriller-horror-combo thing. Korean movies good too, i like the Vis-FX they made, specially in Volcano High, that movies gave 'a mark' on my mind.

haha, I like Japanese movies too (I'm one of the minority, lol). But i don't watch those violent/graphic/gory/horror films, I'm more into drama/artistic movies. Story-wise, those are usually good (or just plain bizarre ^^). Heck, even those Japanese anime movies are great. To some extent, I find myself liking Japanese anime movies more than a normal Japanese movie.

Speaking about action/fantasy type of movies, I'd prefer Holywood movies more than any other movies.

And I can't just discard Korean movies. Lately, there have been many good Korean movies floating around. While Korean dramas are what I detest with a passion, Kmovies are generally better, maybe because they're shorter and have higher budget ?

I soooooooo agree with you!! I used to like hongkong movies too. But it just seems like the movies these days are totaly crap. Most of them don't have a good cast and ussually the story is totally lame. In a year there are only few movies which is good.

But the korean movies are different. I really like those. Esspecially those romantic commedies movies. I just love them

The action movies are still pretty good, but I can't stand the romantic comedies anymore. They're all so plotless.

Use to watch alot of hong kong films, but all the new poduction are just horrible. No replay value at all. Now i only go for U.S movies and maybe a few china historical series with cantonese dubbed.

I use to only watch Hk movies and thought they were great but ya, like many ppl have said...the new ones are pretty horrible. They need to do something about it. So right now, I'm kind of leaning on more interest of watching japanese movies. I love japanese anime movies! And I like the japanese movies because they're more educational. They always to teach u something from the movie. I use to like korean movies too but now korean dramas and movies are just over-rated and that kind of make me tired/sick of it. However, I prefer korean comedy movies more.

american movie will always be the best for me generally speaking. but im also proud that our movies here in the philippines are world class eneogh to be recognize by intertional movie festivals around the world.

Well, I watched movies from Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Singapore before. I like Korean Movies the most. The movies are more toughing and romantic. I love romantic stuff.
Actually, movies from different countries presented differently. The story lines are very different as well.
Singapore movies are more nearer to reality. They are good in producing those movies whcih happen around the family. So, there are more easier to be "absorded".
On the other hand, if I want to watch horror movies, I will prefer Thai and Japanese one. In my opinion, they are good in producing horror movies whereas Hong Kong people are good in producing comedy and action movies. SO, different countries suit with different kinds of movies.

i find jap dorama is better than their movies. Korean movies is better than their dramas.. haha.. cos i like the twist in the end for those Korean movies. Jap's movies are mostly quite serious.. their drama seems to be more lively.. =D For Korean movies, ive alot that I like.. For jap movies, err.. i cant remember much but im awaiting for matsjun's new movie =D Tokyo Tower was quite boring though i like matsujun.. i don't lk his playboyness But their anime movies are not bad =D

HK movies are getting from bad to worst.. it is so lame. Luckily their dramas are still quite alright.. I guess they have to do something about it if they wanna compete with uprising Korean movies and other asian movies in the market. They focus too much on special effects!! Fav of these genre is those tao xue wei long kinda..but now stephen chow's movie is also so lame and exaggerated..

Taiwan movies.. hmmm.. I cant remember any haha.. i think their dramas are more established.. In short, I don't like heavy-hearted movies haha..

Singapore movies? Most of them are quite heartland based and Singaporish..haha Im not sure if people out of Singapore would understand the jokes used..

It's weird, but I enjoy American movies the most... the American industry as a whole never interested me, but its movies are mostly interesting to watch.

Korean movies..... either it's too fast for me and I have no clue what's going on (I'm just dense) or it's too slow that it's uber boring. I'm sorry, no offense or anything... Korean films just don't snap my interest.

As for Jap movies, there's only so many I've watched right now. I'm more interested in doramas as compared to movies.... but if someone in there is worth watching, or it's derived from a manga, why not?

HK movies, I watch for people only... or something that is out of the ordinary. You can pretty much filter a lot of HK movie out of your annual "must-watch" list because you know 1) the people in the film cannot act to save their arses, or 2) uber typical plot; you can watch the first 5 minutes of the movie, skip the whole 75 minutes, then watch the last 10 minutes (assuming we have a 90 min movie) and still know what's going on... or even guess the whole plot, then go back, watch it and you've realized your guess was 80-90% correct.

I use to like HK movies last time. But now I prefer Korean movies. The actor and actress can act well and they are very handsome and pretty.....

for cartoon and specially animation, Japanese movies are the best in the world (i love Final Fantasy VII Advent Children).

for horror, Japanese movies also have some great movies (The Ring Series, Dark Water, etc) that even Hollywood make their own vers.

for action, Hong Kong and Korean movies is my choice

My favorite Asian movies are Korean movies. I guess HK would be second, but I just saw a few Japanese movies these past months and they are really good. I think Japanese movies will probably top HK movies once I start watching more of them.

I find I like many American movies because I watch them the most but Korean and Japanese Dramas are really dramatic and romantic, that's why I think Asian movies are the best!!

For drama, Korea takes the trophy. They're so emotional and passionate. The storylines are pretty good too.

For scary movies, especially the ones with bizarre twists, I think the Japanese do a good job.

If you just want sheer entertainment, with lots of guns and crazy martial arts moves that defy the laws of gravity, watch a Hong Kong action flick. Sure the acting isn't always first class and the scripts aren't always well written, but you don't have to think too much. You can just sit there and enjoy people beating the cr*p out of each other.
