Not only did Triumph in the Skies had good ratings, it also made actors populate in the year it was aired.
Recently, TVB ratings have not been doing well, so TVB brought Korean dramas call "Dai Cheung Ling"(Jewel in the Palace) to help. To put more secure, TVB also is doing a sequel for 'On Fu Sing Lun". Now, TVB decides to film a sequel for Triumph in the Skies in the next half year. But main actor, Francis Ng, he would decide to film it if the paying is good. ﹝
In the year 2003, Triumph in the Skies got 6th in the ratings ranking. It also brought got Francis, Joe, Flora and S4 to be more popular. Ratings haven't been doing well and so TVB urgently starts doing a sequel. TVB is now contacting with each artists to talk about the new sequel. Otherwise, they would have to use different artists and start a brand new story. Currently in China busying filming movies, Francis Ng have been interviewed through a long distance telephone call about this discussion. He says that he mostly care about the wage. He says" I'm not trying to be greedy, but to be honest, if I film, it would take half a year. I would have to give up a lot of other jobs, like movies, being a father. Like last time, a lot of stuff I had to do by myself so money is going to matter mostly." But, Francis doesn't want to do a sequel. He rathers has a new story. He explains"I don't want to be Sam again. It would no longer be fresh to the audience anymore. I don't mind being a pilot but doing another romance story would bring freshness to audience with challenge. Also I would like to work with the old cast again.It was fun and we each other well. But the most important is the salary, because I need a living too."

《 衝 上 雲 霄 》 於 03 年 底 播 出 時 掀 起 全 城 熱 潮 ， 並 立 即 成 為 該 年 度 「 翡 翠 台 十 大 戲 劇 節 目 收 視 榜 」 第 六 位 ， 平 均 收 視 為 卅 二 點 ， 當 時 不 但 令 劇 中 主 角 吳 鎮 宇 、 馬 德 鐘 、 陳 慧 珊 等 人 氣 急 升 ， 還 捧 紅 了 劇 中 「 S4 」 成 員 吳 卓 羲 、 黃 宗 澤 、 陳 鍵 鋒 與 馬 國 明 ， 無 線 卻 希 望 見 好 就 收 ， 直 至 近 期 自 製 劇 集 收 視 一 落 千 丈 ， 無 線 才 急 謀 開 拍 續 集 。 據 知 無 線 近 日 已 開 始 聯 絡 劇 中 一 眾 主 角 ， 各 人 檔 期 若 能 配 合 就 即 順 利 開 拍 續 集 ， 否 則 就 要 另 覓 人 選 拍 攝 另 一 個 全 新 故 事 。

吳 鎮 宇 身 在 杭 州 拍 攝 電 影 ， 他 透 過 長 途 電 話 接 受 本 報 訪 問 時 ， 承 認 無 線 已 跟 他 傾 過 此 事 ， 他 說 首 要 條 件 是 傾 啱 價 錢 ， 鎮 宇 說 ： 「 我 唔 係 市 儈 ， 係 老 實 ， 一 拍 就 要 拍 半 年 ， 我 要 放 低 其 他 工 作 唔 做 得 ， 好 似 拍 電 影 、 生 仔 咁 ， 喺 上 一 輯 ， 全 部 嘢 我 都 要 親 力 親 為 ， 好 多 嘢 蝕 畀 無 線 ， 所 以 一 定 要 價 錢 啱 先 傾 。 」

不 過 ， 鎮 宇 不 想 再 拍 續 集 ， 寧 願 開 拍 一 個 全 新 故 事 ， 他 解 釋 ： 「 我 唔 想 再 做 阿 Sam （ 劇 中 角 色 ） 嘅 延 續 ， 對 觀 眾 嚟 講 無 新 鮮 感 ， 我 唔 介 意 再 做 飛 機 師 ， 展 開 另 一 段 浪 漫 嘅 愛 情 故 事 ， 觀 眾 有 新 鮮 感 ， 對 我 又 有 挑 戰 性 ， 而 且 好 想 再 同 上 次 原 班 人 馬 合 作 ， 因 為 大 家 合 作 開 心 ， 又 好 有 默 契 ， 但 最 緊 要 係 價 錢 啱 ， 我 都 要 生 活 o架 嘛 。 」

Where's Joe? He won't play again in this sequel???

if they do a sequel, i''m guessing the story line is going to be really different...since the stories were kinda finished in the first one...

Joe died in the first one so of course he wont be back and the filming of the sequel to Triumph in the skies is still unconfirmed...because Francis doesnt really want to continue the story but he wants to work with the same cast again and he says that it all depends on the salary TVB's gonna offer him too...

$$$ Does wonders! Doesn't it? It is rather funny--When I first watch this show, they had that CGI airplane done pretty badly. But it seems like every TVB show with a Plane photo shot--used the same CGI from this show. You figure with the money they have--they should of at least hire someone with a little more CGI talent.

I don't think they should make a sequel. I didn't really adore the first one. I mean, the first 3 episodes were just Flora and Sam missing each other. For example, when they were in Venice, they kept walking by each other like i dunno.. 20 times?!? It got to be really annoying. And yeah.. too bad Vincent died. He was a good guy.

True say about the CGI guy. Totally sux. If they're going to be spending an enormous amount of money, don't just spend it all on the actors. Francis Ng isn't that great of an actor anyway. Same expression for everything. And his hair is annoying too.

I would still like to see the second one tho if they're going to make it. See what the new plot is, if there's going to be any new love interests.

I really hope they would have the same ast but i wonder what it would be about? It's really bad when you continue and the story is the same. I hope it won't be about new recruits because that'll be boring, unless it's funny.

Yeah I want to see a sequel to Triumph in the Skies. They got a great cast and a great story so I think they can pull off a second one, as long as most of the characters are the same. Maybe the guy that died in the first one can be given another role in the sequel, like someone who just looks like Vincent or his long lost brother or something like that. But if they made one I think it would be good as its the only series about planes so far.

I don't really mind a continuation, but there is only so much you can do. I mean, I can't really think of anything new they can pull of if they make a part two. But if they do go ahead with it and get the old cast, make them play new roles... kinda like Wong Hei in Burning Flame II.

I hope TVB isn't serious about this. I see no point in having a sequel. Cause we all know Sam is already with Zoe. There's way too many sequels lately, is TVB running out of ideas?

I think they can do something interesting and new in a sequel. Well, a lot of other shows had sequels like Armed Reaction. If they make a sequel I hope they don't make it horrible.

im currently watching the first series of this in the UK - its a really great series. I think that it would be excellant if they did a sequel for it - i'd deffinately watch it.

althought i would love to see more of Triumph in the Skies, i think the sequel wouldn't have the same effect as the first one. the first ones are always far better.

Agree that the sequel wouldn't have the same affect as the first one. But i do wanna see the sequel. I remember when i first watched the first Triumph in the Skies i was very impressed by the first epsisode. It really reminded me of the movie "serendipity".

i hope they will just continue donald and zita and issca's relationship maybe this time michelle might end up wit someone i hope michlle comes back

I heard news that Francis will only consider to be in this series again if tvb offer a good offer to him as he said that filming tv series will take a long time where he will miss alot of offer. By the way, he also prefer a new character rather than continuing the role of Sam.

I thought I heard something before about Francis saying he doesn't like doing sequels because it is never as good as the original. He's right about the characters being the same though. If they do another 40 episodes with everyone being the same and acting the same, it would get really boring really fast. Can you imagine watching sam be a tight ass for another 40 episodes?! . It would be nice to see triumph in the skies II made but it would also be nice if it was more refreshing with new ideas and such. It would be pretty funny if Sam turned into another Joe Ma character....only he wouldnt turn into a suspicious crazy person.

this show would be great if they replace flora chan and Michelle Yip, i guess cant stand watching these to whackos act. Flora is so fake and Michelle talks weird.... overall this movie is a so so pull facto.r

Usually sequels aren't as good as the original. I hope this isn't the case for this one.

Somehow I don't see a sequel for this serie, because in the original the ending was all wrapp up. Myolie married Francis. Joe died. Flora's single. Bosco and Nancy dating. Ron, Sammul and Michelle became friends.
If they are really planning a sequel there's basicly no more new story to tell or are they gonna repeat the whole thing again?
I don't want to see any relationship problems between Francis and Myolie or between Ron, Sammul and Michelle again. Or that they try to come up with a storyline that's very unrealistic and out of nowhere just to keep the story going on.
It's better they make another serie with the cast or take a whole new cast and make a totally new serie about pilotes.
They should just leave the original as it is.

i personally dont want a sequel for this series, but would like to see all the cast working together on another series.

I don't really care as long as they have a whole new plot, give the members of S4 bigger and equal parts, and maybe add some new people for a refreshing feeling. Well more focus on S4 and hopefully add Raymond in there

The korean series in the first post is called "Dai Cheung Gum", not "Dai Cheung Ling."

I personally didn't like triumph in the skies 1. The beginning seemed interesting, but it just kept dragging on and on. It soon became boring and I noticed that there are many flaws in this series. I don't think triumph in the skies 2 will be any better, maybe even worse.

i am watching TITS 1 right now, i like it alot. i never really like sequel but i m actually looking foward to this one. i really like the cast. if they don't do a sequel i hope the have another story with the same characters. francis did a good job soo i hope to see him in another series soon.

I not looking forwrd to this either. In part 1 only the first half was excellent and I was addicted to it however the second half was boring and wasit of time anyway all HK series always have to wait at least two years for season two and it always end up worse then season one don't believe me? watch Journey to the west and healing hands you understand. The only HK part (number goes here) series I like is MDWAV

I might sound stupid but Triumph in the Skies is actually one of my most favourite series... I want another pilot series... but not a sequel... I think Triumph ended in a 'final' way... if you guys get what I mean...

I want a Triumph 2, but with a different storyline... same casts and everything though. And also, no offence, but I would want Francis and Flora together, and Ron and Michelle... and then with more about flying rather than focusing on Flora-Francis-Myolie-Joe love line... even though it was very good! Oh wow. Having a sequel may be a good idea. That way they can explore other areas of profession. I hope they'll use real airplanes or at least make more different angles of CG airplane scenes. They keep on repeating the same CG airplane scene again and again...
