Parting Miss Hong Kong winners, Mandy Cho, Priscilla Chik, Selena Li and Carrie Lee took part in a promotion for TVB Pearl's broadcast of the Asia Cup Soccer Tournament and Mandy did play football as a child, but stopped when she grew older. She says that as a lot of football matches are aired at night, her sleep is more important to her so she does not watch much football, but she does like to watch footballers when she keeps her dad company, such as David Beckham and Portugal's Luis Figo. She will be supporting the Chinese team in the Asian competition.

Jessica Hsuan and Selena Li were filming in Central for "My Wife, Your Honour" wearing their power suits and Jessica says that she took part in a poster shoot encouraging people to register to vote, but she then did not send her form off in time and could not vote. "Now I am registered, so I will definitely vote next time." She adds that with the long hours worked by artistes, they lose touch with society, so she will start to try and watch out for news and current affairs to become a smarter voter!

Jessica Hsuan, Sunny Chan and last year's "Miss Talent" Selena Li were filming on location at the Kowloon City Courts. However, Selena had quite a lot of NG's [bad takes], causing co-star Jessica to have to re-take too. Luckily Jessica was not upset by this and afterwards, Selena said: "I have not had that many NG's this time, earlier when I was filming a court defence scene, there were even more because the lines were so long." Selena admits that she was rather nervous yesterday because Jessica is an artiste whom she admires a lot for her beauty and intelligence and this put some pressure on Selena. Fortunately, Jessica is very friendly and does not have an attitude. Not only does she chat and laugh, she also gives Selena tips on her performance, so to be able to work with Jessica makes Selena feel very happy.

When Jessica heard that Selena was full of praises for her, she laughed: "I am okay! I just do what I can do and this is nothing major, when I first entered the industry, I reecived a lot of advice from my predecessors, such as Alex Man, who reminded me that even if I was extremely ill, I should still go into work and not call in because this has a big effect on everyone else." Jessica also says that she has been in the industry for over ten years so if she can help others, then she will. Sunny Chan accidentally stood on Jessica during the filming, but she says she will not be mad at him. She adds that Sunny Chan works hard to make everyone happy and he is the spiritual support for the show.

Frankie Lam and Michelle Ye had their costume fittings for new series "King of Herbal Medicine" yesterday, where Frankie will be playing classical herbal doctor Li Shizhen. The show will begin filming at the end of September. With filming for "Ten Brothers" almost complete, Frankie had planned to take some time to 'make babies' with his wife Kenix Kwok, but with this new series, does it mean his plans have been postponed? He laughs: "We are still young and have plenty of time."

In the past, Frankie once played ancient doctor Hua Tuo in an earlier series, but this has been relegated to the depths of storage, so why has he agreed to do a similar story? He explains: "I am actually very afraid of wearing a wig and the heat, but after hearing the storyline from the producer, I felt that this is not a traditional boring ancient drama, especially on the romantic plot, so I agreed to do it." Although no-one can guarantee ratings, Frankie feels that if he is interested in the story and with some herbal nutritional tips in each episode, then this should attract the attention of the viewers.

Michelle will be playing a female herbal doctor in the show, who comes between Frankie and his wife in the show played by Selena Li. When asked what it felt like to be the third party in a relationship, Michelle reacted quite strongly, saying: "No, in the show, I meet Frankie first, but due to many reasons we do not end up together. Moreover, this is the first time I play a third party." The character often has to head into the hills to collect the herbs, so they will be filming on location in Guangxi later. She laughs: "Well we can't go picking herbs in Ma On Shan!" Talking of Ma On Shan, it brings up her memory of being injured on two occasions whilst filming there. Whilst filming for "Lost in the Chamber of Love", she injured her right leg, causing the bone to stick out and in "Lofty Waters Verdant Bow", she also injured herself. Luckily on both occasions, she received medical compensation from the company.

Selena Li took the 'Miss Photogenic' award for Miss Hong Kong 2003 and yesterday, reports broke that her father's company in Shatin and his three factories in China had closed, with 28 of Mr Li's creditors chasing him for debts amounting to nearly $10 million. With Mr Li nowhere to be seen, the creditors have reported the incident to Shatin Police Station. A police spokesperson indicated that the station had received one report, but the police have not yet made any charges. The case has been passed to the Sum Tin section CID to investigate. A notice was placed outside Mr Li's company yesterday indicating the name of the accountant and lawyers handing his bankrupcy.

Selena is currently in China filming for "The Herbalists Manual" and on the phone, she said: "I have found my father, but he just said one thing to me telling me not to worry about him. (Did you ask your father what has happened?) He has never spoken to me about his business and my father is divorced from my mother, so I do not see him very much." She continues: "My father says he will deal with his own affairs and there will not be a major problem. My father will not run away and he is probably seeking help from his accountant and lawyers. (There are suggestions that your father asked his staff to vote for you when you entered Miss Hong Kong.) The reports were exaggerated, it is only natural for my father to vote for me, but his votes don't count and it does not affect the result."

Hailing from the same contest as Selena, Priscilla Chik says that she has asked about Selena and says: "I have called her and we chatted very happily. She is feeling okay."

TVB's new series "Mr Chan of Foshan" held its costume fitting yesterday and cast members taking part included Leung Ka Yan, Timmy Hung, Maggie Siu, Selena Li, Charmaine Li and Jack Wu. Male lead Yuen Wah was not present because he had other engagements. Timmy was sporting an injury on his nose and forehead and explained that this was caused by a premature explosion of a bullet cap and as he had not yet inverted it, he was subjected to the full force of it. Luckily the injury is not serious.

Yesterday whilst talking about his wound, Timmy says that it does not hurt and like his last injury sustained whilst filming in the Philippines, that also did not hurt. As they had to rush to finish the film, so once the bleeding had stopped, then they had to carry on filming. Was he not worried about it scarring his face? He laughs that it is okay for a man, but luckily both times were just around his eyes and he did not damage the eyes themselves. As for whether his father Samo Hung knows about his injury, Timmy says he does not and even if he did, this is minor for his father's standards, because he has had much more serious injuries in filming.

Talking of being able to film "Mr Chan" with his father's 'martial brothers' Yuen Biao and Yuen Wah as well as Leung Ka Yan , who is also from his father's generation, Timmy says that he feels the pressure, but not in terms of acting skill, but rather in their rather hard and real Kung Fu skill compared to his height and rather unattractive stances. When asked if he has asked his dad to give him special training, Timmy says that Samo is too busy working in Taiwan, so he has had to seek help from elsewhere until his dad has time to perfect him. He believes that if his dad has time he will come to visit him on set because it is a rare occasion to catch up with all his old friends.

Maggie worked together with Yuen Biao before in "Shogun and Little Kitchen" where Brother Biao played her uncle, but this time they will be playing lovers. As for her character, she will be a chiropractor and there will be some action scenes, but she is not worried about being injured because there are so many Kung Fu masters in the cast and it makes her feel secure. Also she will go and learn from some real practitioners so that her performance is more convincing.

2003 Miss Hong Kong's "Miss Photogenic" Selena has had some reports about her father's debt problems and was asked how her father was. She says that she has been in contact with him and he is a lot calmer than she imagined. Maybe he does not want her to worry so he did not say too much about it to her. Forcing a smile, she says: "My dad has been in business for thirty years now, so he is smarter than me and I believe that he can handle it."

Selena says that she has plenty of opportunities at TVB now, so she hopes to focus her attentions on her acting and she does not want these matters to affect her concentration. When asked if she has to handle the family's finances, she says that she has already moved out to live on her own and is used to looking after herself, but her brother is only 15 years old and her sister is only 10. If her father needs her to look after her siblings, then she will help, but she does not plan to move back in with her family because her work is very unstable and she does not want to disturb them.

hey! I was unaware of selena li previously, but I'm just watching Just Love and was interested to know who this actress was! Lol, before I hear people talking, selena li, selena li, I never knew who she was, and now I do! Haha.

Actually, I think she has acting potential. In both, "My Wife, Your Honour" and The Herbalist's Manual," I thought she was pretty good at playing both totally different characters. Although, sometimes I'm annoyed with her voice ...she is TOTALLY better than Mandy Cho (in terms of acting). And seriously, when you're watching tv I think acting counts way more than just a pretty face.

Very good job in The Herbalist Manual. Selena & Michelle stole the show and they both have much more chemistry together than with Frankie. I know understand why TVB is promoting her!

Selena Kisses Raymond
During filming for TVB new series "Simple Clothed Soothsayer", there was a scene where Selena Li has to kiss Raymond Lam on the lips, but this was changed by the producer to just a peck on the cheek. When the reporters joked about this with Raymond saying he had lost out on an opportunity, he smiled: "You don't need to take it that far for an ancient drama! (Is this Selena's first screen kiss?) This is all arranged by the scriptwriter, I am just told what to do!" As for Selena, she said nervously: "I have never kissed a man on camera before. but luckily Raymond brought me into the scene." Raymond says: "She makes me sound like I am a veteran!". Also in the show, Selena has to do a series of multiple kicks, but she seems rather careful when doing these, just in case she kicks someone in the sensitive areas!

OMGOMGOMGOMG! i hated her character in both Just Love AND Herbalist Manual! she was so....terrible! but her acting skills are great. hehe

She is cute, did not really like her at first, but the more shows i see her in, the more I like her. Her acting is good and she is improving with every series. She makes her charaters memorable. A future bright shining star.

I didn't like Selena's acting in 'Just Love' or 'The Herbalist's Manual.' She just seems to play the third wheel in each series between the main actor and actress and not much else.

I have never liked Selena before. I didn't even like her when she competed in Miss Hong Kong. I was pretty disappointed when she won the two awards...she danced, but it wasn't enough for her to win miss talent or whatever they call it. As for the photogenic award, Mandy looks soOO much better than her. I'm glad she didn't win the title.

I always find her beautiful and thought it was a shame that she didn't won in her year. The first time I saw her onscreen was in a small cameo role in TLB and I only remembered her after watching Face to Fate. To be honest, I was slightly prejudiced against her because everyone was slamming her for bad acting left and right. But after watching her in FTF, I was surprised that her acting isn't that bad as everyone claimed hers to be; her acting is pretty decent except she need work on her emoting. Right now, I see the potential in her. And I am sure with more screen experience, she will improve.

Really like her now; but pretty sad that the folks in FTF's thread didn't like her because she 'took' Nancy's role and they didn't like seeing her being paired up with Raymond. Oh well.
