ISWAK are Joe and Ariel if one of them leaves, there no possible continuiing Ç_Ç ..... why is she leaving? i hope the producers take out of their mind this idea if one of the main character aren't going to participate...

They won't be able to find an actress who can successfully mimic Ariel's expressions, gestures, and postures. Even if the new actress can mimic Ariel really well, she won't be the same... They really should keep the same actors or else they are going to loose a lot of viewers. It's going to be so awkward if they change everything now...

aww, the show wouldn't be as good if they replaced her with someone else...
I would not watch it then.... , but I understand why Ariel wouldn't want to continue the character, she would probably prefer to act in many different roles and shows instead of playing the same characer for so long.

the Dec 17 clip sounded so funny, what were they talking about that Joe have to covered his mouth to stop laughing? Praying hard for Ariel to be in ISWAK2...

maybe it's only me but i'm actually kind of happy ariel won't be in the sequel if there's going to be one (don't hate me)..i just don't think she brings out the character well. i think maybe it's because i've been influenced by the japanese drama version because i find the girl who played ariel's character to be much more likeable..even when she (the japanese actress) became a little bit desperate i can still side with her because she makes me feel like it's okay..with ariel when she plays those kinds of scenes, i just get kind of annoyed. i think it's because XQ is one of those characters where you really have to have a certain look that can make the audience identify with you so that even when you make a fool of yourself, instead of feeling exasperated you want to hug them. unfortunately for me, ariel isn't one of those actresses.

and whereas the japanese actress, as exaggerated as her expressions are, i feel that's her, that's who she will be in real life if i were to meet her. that's how much i believed in her acting! but with ariel, more than once i felt she was trying too hard. sometimes i feel like she wants badly for the audience to like her character because we're supposed to, so her acting becomes too contrived rather than just being natural and letting the audience decide if they like her character or not. like the scene when the younger brother goes to the hospital. yes she cried, yes she panicked but it all felt so TIMED, and her movements were so automatic that i felt nothing watching it. this is especially true because i didn't understand a word they were saying (i'm not chinese) so it doesn't bias me. if i understood the dialogue i'd feel more because i'd identify with the story rather than ariel. and here ariel tries so hard to show how panicked she was, how much she cared for the younger brother, etc. etc. so in the end i just felt kind of disgusted (maybe that's the wrong word to use..but can't think of any other one right now).

anyway, i think probably EVERYONE in this forum disagrees with me and is ready to flame me alive but just remember this is my two cents. i still enjoy the story, i still enjoy the acting done by both ariel and joe (because acting-wise they're both good) but i just can't believe that ariel is XQ but more like an actress playing XQ.

that's really strange of you...so weird...because i think ariel potrays her character well as XQ,at first i think rainie will fit the role better than her but now i change my mind, i think ariel is the most suitable actress...she makes me happy when she is happy and i cry when she cries in the drama....i hope ariel will still be in ISWAK 2

i think that ariel had done a great job in ISWAK..and i like her acting.she's quite natural in the show.it's not as bad as u think,bananagirl.=)

I'm hoping there won't be a sequel...and I think that looking at Ariel, I thinks he finds it a little difficult to continue playing Xiang Qin. I don't pretend to know her personally or anything... but I find the fact that she's playing such an exaggerative character a real strain on her. I know if I was portraying Xiang Qing day after day, I'd get really fed up. I mean, by the second ep I was like "WELLL...if HE doesn't like you, then get over it. Go find someone else!" But I doubt there will be a sequel made. There was a brief rumour about a DBY2 as well...and that didn't work out either...

But I've always enjoyed Ariel's acting. Coming as an avid movie fan who has taken amateur movie-analysis classes, I find her expressions and what she does very...natural. Not many idols can actually CRY (with actual tears, not just dry sobs) when they need to... I don't think her facial expressions are too exaggerative (look at rainie's in DBY!) but she manages to convey a lot through her eyes...and that's where it's most important.

I won't disagree with the fact that sometimes what she does seems a bit stilted, but I think that's more the director's fault than anything else. I saw Secret Garden with Ariel, and she was great and the entire series was absolutely adorable.

i agree with loveAriel, This is the first series that I have ever seen Ariel in, and she really suprised me, her expressions, gestures, and tone is so so so natural, i can honestly say she is one of the most natural asian actresses i have seen. I like a lot of other actress, but some of their acting is so stiff and inadequate, but ariel on the other is natural to me and i'm assuming the majority of people who watch is series.

Ariel is the best part of the series! I don't think it would be as popular is someone else played xq. There should only be a sequel if they can get all the cast and crew from the first one back, and follow the manga closely. I don't think, however, there are as many cute scenes after xq and zs marries.

I think Ariel portrays the character perfectly..if it seems desperate, its because the script demands it. If you actually watched Love Contract and ISWAK, you can see how versatile she is. Yes, she seems annoying in her persuit of ZS, but her acting is not at fault here, if anything she brought out the liveliness of the character...

i'm one of the ones that DO NOT want a sequel. sequels always screw it up..no matter if its the original cast. but i'l lmake my FINAL decision when ISWAK is done playing!! and i'm guessing there is 18 episodes?? they didn't confirm it yet..but as the look of the sypnosis on their website..it's oging to take awhile..they still didnt tell us about his dad's bbusiness yet...and i heard the last 2 episodes will have this new girl wanting to marry ZS.

and those who are watching ariel for the first time in ISWAK..you guys should watch LOVE CONTRACT too. because it hink ariel's acting was really good from the beginning. i just don't really like how she cries..hehehee..but either than that..i think she's a pretty good actress . and if there really really was a sequel to this..i would want the original casts..or then it'll be weird..lol.

usually i dont like sequels either. but in this case, the sequel for this series is more like a continuation in completing the plot of the manga, since it goes beyond the story of them getting married. there's quite a bit of good stuff that happens after they're married and it'ld be a shame if it wasnt done. its goona suck w/o ariel though...

as much as i like ISWAK, if ariel is not going to star as XQ, i would rather wish they are not doing the sequel.

it's hard for the audience to accept another actress to reprise as XQ.

personally, i feel that ariel did a great job as XQ.

lol eevry1s got diff opinions. i do believe that if i watch the jp version after this tw version, i wont like the jp actress either because in my mind, ariel's always xiang qing and no1 can portray xiang qing better than her =). i havent watched the hospital scene yet but based on 9 previous eps which i watched, ariel portrays xiang qing very naturally. i smile when she's stupid, i laugh when shes too obsessed, i cry when she cries, i dont think anyone can portray a better taiwanese xiang qing than ariel.

This episode was better than last week's.

I like the scene where Ariel attempted to massage Joe while he was busy at workbut after wards he told Ariel to stop (while touching her hand). They looked so comfortable with each other n so natural. Ariel suggested he sleep also which he did too. she even prepared his blankets....

Today is not the last episode. I saw half of chapter 13, ZS finally moved back home to live and started working for his dad's company. My quess there will be up on this drama should be roughly around 18... anyway today's episode is pretty good.. and funny

I tried watching ISWAK on the internet today..I've been able to watch the previous weeks, but today for some odd reason, it says that i don't or can't play the clip because i don;t have the right media player or extension something along those line....can anyone help...i already have media player 10...and i donwloaded activeX control and i have java....thanks for all the help in advance!!!

heard from some ppl that its better than the jap 1. haven't started with this show yet, but will be starting on it once i finish with some of my other shows. lin yi chen in the show is another plus point.

Hey bananagirl - Everybody is entitled to have their own opinion, and frankly speaking, I actually agree with you. I haven't seen the jdrama version of the show, but I can tell you that I have grown to dislike XQ. I have nothing against Ariel, though I'm not her fans either. I'm just so-so about her. Wait...I said this one too many times already. Hehehehehe... sorry...sorry...really, no offense. One thing for sure, this show still has a bunch of good actors/actresses and it does have a good production value from acting all the way to costume/hair. So it's still worth watching as painful as it is (for me at least). The most interesting part from ep. 13 for me is when the new guy was introduced. He's pretty good. From the preview of next episode, the guy who's the boyfriend of one of XQ's girlfriends, he's in KO One right now as the quite guy. He's cute, but looks so young...

Anyway...I think everybody in this thread is pretty nice, if not, you and I would have been thrown in the flame together. Hehehehehe...

Aww, I initially came on to read other's opinion on tonight's ep and say mine. THen I see the sad news about the sequel. I also think that they shouldn't do a sequel if Ariel won't do it. THere's no point and if it turns out like MG II, I'll just be devastated. I don't mind seeing Joe, but Ariel is XQ, no one else. Even though ppl thought Rainie would be good, I still won't watch it...ARIEL is the only XQ!

i actually like epi 13 a lot..the new guy is hot...Wu Ren i think is his name...i like how he chase after XQ...extremely cute....it was so good to see Zhi Shu jealous at time...lolz...i don't really like Zhi Yu's sister..she give me bad impressions....i didn't like the part where XQ was using WR to make ZS jealous..because it was not fair to him...although i gotta admit that she choose the right guy...WR almost kissed her but An Jin came and stop...i like the fighting scene...it shows how much they want to be with XQ...the part where XQ and ZS on bus was sweet..they were laughing..that's wat i like...and yeah i agree with u guys about ZS taking XQ's words seriously and care for her although he doesn't show it...he's taking XQ's words to be a doctor..lolz..that is so kool..so many good scenes in this epi...
