Mr.hun ( director of mars) talking about F4

2004 Mg 1 +2 was make a storm in Vietnam and conquered all fans here. Jerry, vanness, ken and zai zai are being their idol. F4 to be a best boy band in Vietnam. Now, listen to mr.hun who is director of Mg1+2+mars, who is helped F4 to be popular in all over asia.

reporter: b4 play Mg1, F4 is really have no knowledge about play-act. So did u get difficult to trained them??

mr.hun: uhm..not hard too much , but I have taken more time to touch them how to play-act and let them to joined a play-act traination. I touch them how to show the psychology of the character.and I sometime I let them do by themsleve too.

when they were playing Mg 1, how many time they could sleep??
mr hun: they could sleep 2 hour/day.

vanness and zai zai who are didn¡¦t know how to play-act b4. when u¡¦re decied to film this movie, why did u choose them for leading role?did u know that is venture?
mr hun: yes I knew, but if I didn¡¦t choose them so how could F4 was born?

when they know they are leading role of the movie. What did they think about?

mr.hun: me and mrs.cai always support them and tell them do by their best. We believe that they will make the magic.

u and mrs.cai is accredited with having discovered this biy band-F4 so would u like to tell them something

in my eyes they¡¦re our sons , they¡¦re clever , diligent. I believe thay if they ¡¥re know how to keep learning by hard, they can be better .

what do u think about them?

vanness is a self-confident person but he must be learn how to speak Chinese, should not speak Chinese and eng at the same time in the same sentence. Zai zai is clever but he of very few words. His pronounce is not good any more . in F4 jerry is brother so he often gets stress. He seems always smart and serious, he must open his heart so they can feel better. And then , ken have an aptitude for music but sometime he seems hot-headed.

F4 Matures

Boybands can't always stay sweet and glossy.
Such is the case for the F4, who are now contributing success in the music industry.
First, Vic Chou released his first album Remember I love You, next Jerry Yan and Ken Zhu came at the right time with his Ken's Time and the last one will be Vanness Wu whose own album schedules to release this year. All of those album sounds are evolving and so are their experiences "it's all about learning," said one of the F4 members, Ken Zhu who just recently released his album and immediately landed on the Top 10 Charts in Taiwan via G-Music. "we can never stop learning" he adds

The 4 boys are shedding their pop-sounding skin that attracted young girl listeners and are moving toward a more matured pop style. "we have to sort of outlive that boy band image", vanness said.

"They all keep getting better," a Ken Zhu fan said of their music making evolution.

These boys Jerry, Ken, Vic & Vanness basically have grown up in the musical limelight.

Vic said at this stage in their lives, they want to focus on their musical careers and acting thing. They are now reinventing their musical direction and style. It's a new direction that may shake up faithful F4 fans. "We are just evolving into something else," he adds.

Vanness said with the change in style "some of the fans might have changed as well, which I am not sure, we may have lost some of the younger fans as they also changed into a mature one" he laughs.

In that changeover of fans, they hope their following will include boys also.

Ken said they will take the time to "re-group" and prepare for a new group album.

"we are not going to be rushed, we are on a planning stage of slowly working on a new album, hopefully"

F4 recently performed in Korea as a group and Jerry said, "It was an amazing crowd . . . The crowd never stopped."

F4 will hold an exhibition in Japan to start the Meteor fever

F4 became famous across Asia via the Taiwan TV series Meteor Garden which was adapted from a Japanese comics book. This year F4 will enter the Japan market in full force. There will be an exhibition to be held in Tokyo Shibuya for two weeks in March. F4 will be the first artist from Taiwan to have an exhibition in Japan.

F4 fever has also happened in Japan ever since Meteor Garden was aired in Japan last year. Their TV series have been snatched up by Japan TV stations. Quite a few Japanese media organizations have made special trips to Taiwan to interview F4. The four members have also frequently appeared on the cover of Japanese magazines. At the beginning of February, Jerry Yan appeared by himself on the cover of Free Access Asia Vol. 6. Fans rushed out to buy it and the magazine was sold out soon after it came out.

Korean dramas have become the hottest trend after Korean TV series "Winter Sonata" was broadcast in Japan. Tremendously popular Bae Yong Jun of South Korea previously held his own exhibition in Japan. "Meteor Garden" is no less popular than "Winter Sonata". Based on it, F4 has entered the Japan market successfully and fascinated many Japanese girls.

It is confirmed that F4 will hold an exhibition of "Meteor Garden - F4 World" in Tokyo Shibuya. The admission fee is 500 Japanese yen. Ever since the news was announced, fans across Japan have been planning to form groups to visit Tokyo to support F4.

F4 has become the first artist from Taiwan to have an exhibition in Japan. Their agency is trying hard to schedule the four of them to go to Japan to do promotions together. Poor Prince which stars Zaizai Vic Zhou and was also adapted from a Japanese comic book is scheduled to start its airing on Japan BS station on Feb. 12. Meteor Garden is also scheduled to start on Feb. 23. Besides attending the exhibition, the four members may also promote their TV series.

Reportedly, Jerry Yan and Vanness Wu will start their new movies later. Ken Zhu is busy promoting his solo album overseas. Right now only Zaizai has no work assignments. In addition, Zaizia's Japanese-edition photo album will be published on March 3. Don't exclude the possibility that Zaizai would go to Japan first as a representative to do promotions.

Taiwan drama idols: They rise to stardoms quickly but fall just as fast

Why can't they move onto the international stage

Is it true that Taiwan really doesn't have big stars? Recently the local TV series have been red hot, but these series are in the awkward situations that they can't expand internationally. Some become famous overnight because of idol TV series, but often they are just one hit wonders. A Korean TV series can easily create an international big star, but Taiwan can only come up with a few when you do the counting. What has gone wrong with the big environment in Taiwan? Do Taiwan big stars have to depend on packaging, appearances? Or some big shots?

Producer Chai Zhi-Ping: To discover stars, look at appearances first and then cultivate their acting skills
About Taiwan talents in dramas, Chai Zhi-Ping, who has made F4 famous by starring them in Meteor Garden, says frankly that the most important thing for drama idols is their appearances. Acting skills can be trained and cultivated later on.

Taiwan's Meteor Garden has started the trend of idol TV series. Chai Zhi-Ping, the famous producer, has created stardoms for Vic Zhou, Ken Zhu, Jerry Yan, and Vanness Wu of F4. For her, the first step to start creating big drama stars is to look at their appearances. Chai Zhi-Ping emphasizes a great deal on evaluating appearances. She came to TV drama series from the variety show. She has a famous saying from her years of experiences, "When choosing Idol drama stars, choose those with good looks but not-so-good acting over those with good acting but no looks."

For example, she saw Ken Zhu, who has just recently released an album, at a barbecue restaurant. She thought he was promising, she took the initiative and gave Ken her cell phone number. She picked out Zaizai when he accompanied a friend to an audition. Chai Zhi-Ping chooses a role based on her intuition. She uncovers stars' hidden characteristics and creates the irreplaceable idol worship. But her selection of scripts is also instrumental. So is the cooperation of the whole crew. For example, the many gook-looking men and women in Meteor Garden are able to shine across Asia under the auspices of director Cai Yue-Xun.

Bada manager of planning department Cai Fe-Qia Not winning by acting will be phased out

Bada-TV's idol TV series "The Outsiders" was an instant hit. Cai Fe-Qiao is the biggest contributor behind it. Without mincing words, she points out that in recent years Taiwan TV circle has created many buzz stars, including Guo Pin-Chao, Zheng Yuan-Chang, and Qiu Ze. The biggest problem with buzz stars is their stardoms are very short-lived.

Cai Fe-Qiao says that earlier during the seventies and eighties, Taiwan had indeed produced quite a few big stars. The TV series produced by TV stations during that time period, such as "Bao Qing Tian", "Qiu Shui Chang Tian", "Chuang Wai", etc, not only had very good ratings in Taiwan, but were also very popular overseas. South Korea had broadcast "Bao Qing Tian" and the rating was very good.

She indicates that in recent years the only big star produced by Taiwan TV circle is F4. Why is it that Taiwan does not have big stars? The root causes are "supply over demand" and "too many platforms." So many TV stations have rushed to produce idol TV series, but there are only a handful of good script writers. In no time the market has been saturated. Moreover, the big stars created by all these idol TV series do not win by their acting. Naturally they are easily washed out.

F4's Tao Hua blooming, relationships opening up, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu, Jerry Yan and Vivian Hsu, Mayi, Lin Zhiling's relationship is steady. Zaizai, who will be attending Japan's 314 White Day event(Valentine's Day), representing F4, Manager Lin Shu Juan commented, "Xu Wei Luin and him have always been good friends, it has never changed."

And regarding the rumours of LiWei wooing Xu Wei Lun again, XWL's manager, Sun Fu Hua said a word yesterday, "They really seldom contact each other.", have confirmed that they have made up, the outside rumours have been spreading that ZhouXuLi have been on war.

Some companies tries breaking up artists who are under them, stopping them from going into relationships, F4 is very lucky. Each relationship, whether is it breaking or patching up, they got the support and protect from the company. Vanness and Vivian have become more and more tian mi(sweet). Ken admits that he's good friends with Mayi while Jerry and Lin Zhiling's relationship is going steady, not being affected by rumours. Even Zaizai and XWL's relationship, after going true a huge wind, have now subsided. Both have admitted that they are good friends, confirming that their relationship have continued to progress, without any 3rd party involving.

Zaizai and Da S would be attending Japan's Mars premier on 14th of March, and also to represent F4 to attend the Parco's White Day event, becoming the first Asia representative. His huge commercial board have been hung in more than 20 over places in Japan. Cai Zhi Ping who would be accompanying him to Japan said, "Zaizai have matured, relationship, career, studies are all very steady. It brings an additional effect to him." F4's Meteor Garden and Mars have broadcasted in Japan, the 4 hunk's popularity in Japan have been increased ever since.

Hottest Guys in Asia

It seems like only yesterday that foreign and international groups were the hottest guys for the asian fans.
But for the past 2 years, fans and industry insiders
have been singing a different tune. Yes! They prefer Local Groups like F4, S.H.E, 5566, Mayday, 7F, 183 Club to name a few. Jerry Yan's One Meter Album, the eagerly to listen tune topped on charts and sold million copies in Asia, album hit like a meteor! Vic Chou's Remember I love You even topped the Charts for consecutive weeks. 5566 Albums C'est Si Bon and current Ge Dou Tian Wang topped charts and G-Music for several weeks. Ken's Time shared his own success, and as well as forecasted Vanness Wu who's releasing his new album very soon.

But it's not the music that topped it all, it's the artists that appealled to the teen crowd who are embraced by old ones, as well, particularly female.

F4, with their success, are the boys for this trend, but groups like 5566 if pertaining to their albums and TV programs also have emerged as contenders, not to mention 7F and also reigning 183 Club, known for their excellent body frame.

Music is not the only factor in these young artists cross over appeal.

F4 and Hacken fight for concert date

There's been news that F4 plans on holding a concert in HK in December but there has been rumors saying that Hacken Lee is fighting for this time period. When Ken Chu accepted an interview yesterday he said that he has heard about having a concert but he doesn't know the exact date. Besides holding a concert in HK, the company also plans to have concerts in Japan and other South Asian countries. In addition, it's Ken's first time to come to HK to hold his own autograph session and it's also his first time he's been in such close contact with HK fans, so he's rather nervous.

Hottest Hook-Ups

A spate of Chinese showbiz romances have recently
heated up headlines. WENDY TEO (teowyw@sph.com.sg) checks out which celebs have the...

Singer Vanness Wu, 26
Singer Vivian Hsu, 30

Couple wattage: 65%

Caught in the act: Behaving intimately at a steamboat restaurant in Taiwan in 2003.

Talk was rife that the couple broke up for three months, but they reconciled last December when Vanness flew to Singapore to patch things up with Vivian when she was filming a movie here.

How bright are their careers?

He is part of the phenomenon known as F4. But Vanness will never live down his dud debut movie, Star Runner. And even though his Body Will Sing was a hit, it wasn't sensational enough to notch up high album sales.

It was last heard that Vanness has completed a training stint as a Shaolin temple disciple.

If he's planning a career switch, good for him.

We don't know how long the F4's star can keep shining.

Vivian may have cornered the sweetheart market in Taiwan and Japan, but the hour glass is emptying fast for her, which is a major disadvantage in the era of Jolin Tsai, Cyndi Wang, Aya Ueto, and Ai Otsuka.

It's a good idea for the couple to keep a spare pack of batteries.

Singer Jerry Yen, 28,
Model Lin Chi-ling, 31

Couple wattage: 90%

Caught in the act: Photos of the pair posing in only bathrobes made their rounds in the papers, after Chi-ling sent her phone for repairs, and an enterprising undergraduate downloaded the pictures and sold them for NT$500,000 ($26,300).

Rumours of them being a couple surfaced as early as September 2003, even before Chi-ling's ascent to top-model status in Taiwan.

They had been seen going for movies together and were once rumoured to be cohabiting.

How bright are their careers?

Jerry, despite being a member of the fast-fading F4, is still going on strong among his legions of fans around the world fainting at his slightest smile.

As for Chi-ling, she is the face that launched a thousand ships.

Well, kinda.

With that pretty face of hers, she has sold at least 400 apartments, and countless units of handphones, jewellery and other products she endorses.

Recently upgraded to a TV host, Chi-ling's star is rising.

Besides their red-hot careers, these two leggy models look so good together, it hurts.

It's a power surge alert!

Millions of portraits welcome guests at F4 Tokyo exhibition

For the "F4 World Exhibition" tomorrow in Tokyo, the hosting unit spent 1 million Yen. An artist was hired to do a huge oil painting of F4. Although the exhibition hasn't started yet, the huge portrait has become the place to worship F4.

F4 became popular in Japan because of "Meteor Garden". The 18-day "Meteor Garden F4 World Exhibition" will start tomorrow at Tokyo Se Gu Parco Museum. Over 100,000 people are expected to go. The hosting unit especially used F4's huge oil painting as the focal for publicizing. Just the painting took a month to complete and cost over 1 million Yen (about HKD$70,000).

The manufacturing unit first invited a professional to draw a portrait of F4 and then painted it. Many F4 fans especially went to admire it and slogans were also written on the posters "F4, wild and loved by everyone, is finally coming!" Posters are everywhere, even elevators of malls have F4 posters.

Because F4's dramas, "Meteor Garden," "Poor Prince," "Love Scar," and others, are going to be shown in Japan successively and their album "Can't Lose You" will be releasing on March 24th. In F4, ZZ is first to go to Japan to promote. Next will be Jerry Yan and the exhibition will release the Japanese version of Jerry's pictorial. A buying upsurge is expected.

ZZ and Da S are in Tokyo promoting "Meteor Garden" and "Mars" and have received big star treatment. After they just landed a few days ago they accepted a series of TV and magazine interviews. The media even went into ZZ's room and saw that there were 20 sets of clothing inside.

"Sheng Tang Jiao Fu"'s designer Yi Teng Da also designed for ZZ. As for Da S, her professional designer also designed for her, including 5 spring outfits and name brand shoes.

Yesterday night ZZ and Da S indeed dressed up to attend a press conference. Because this is the two's first time to promote in Japan plus the fact that they have become the local new favorites, they attracted over 100 reporters, a situation unprecendented. Even outside were hundreds of fans. One can see how popular they are.

Japan fans dislike that F4 wears cheap clothing

"Please have Dao Ming Si get rid of that pineapple hairstyle. And F4 belong to rich families, their clothes are too cheap." F4's "Meteor Garden" has caused questioning from Japanese audiences. Producer Angie Cai said, "'Meteor Garden I' had a low budget. Their clothes were indeed cheap from Wu Fen Pu (wholesale clothing market in Taipei) and Jerry Yan's pineapple hairstyle was done according to the manga."

For 3 days, Vic Chou, Da S and others went to Japan to promote "Meteor Garden" and "Mars." The manga "Meteor Garden" is widely known in Japan, many people grew up with it. Many fans saw F4 through TV and they had to admit that Angie's choices were great. They said the four were "too miraculous, it's like they walked out of the book."

It wasn't until yesterday night until Japanese fans had the chance to meet Hua Ze Lei (Vic Chou) and San Cai (Da S) at a fans gathering. Outside the studio more than 1000 chosen fans looped around the Parco store about 3 times. 250 policemen were needed to maintain order.

Inside "F4 World Exhibition" were more than 200 reporters looking at the clothes F4 wore in their dramas and other related pictures, pictorials, etc. The Japanese, who have always paid attention to appearance, found, "F4 are rich, why are they wearing that kind of clothing?" In addition, someone also said that Jerry's "pineapple hairstyle" was too exaggerated, making it hard to bear.

Angie said, "Four years ago I really wanted to film 'Meteor Garden,' but at that time no one thought it was good. Our budget was really low. I used all my money to rent racing cars, a mansion. The clothes they wore were from Wu Fen Pu, they cost a few hundred dollars. Despite this, on average about 300,000 dollars were lost for each episode. The pineapple hairstyle was done according to the manga. It is a bit weird so starting from the 5th episode we had Jerry leave his hair down."

But in "Meteor Garden II" F4 was really different. They wore Ar-Mani?AVersac. Angie said, "At that time the drama was popular so there was a rise in budget. I'm also very demanding ok?" She brought the Wu Fen Pu clothes to the exhibition to show "honesty" that they were indeed lacking in money during that time and for spectators to compare that with the F4 at a later stage.

Jin Zi, who helped design ZZ's image for this activity, said, "Taiwan idols don't pay attention to appearances. Korean stars are different. Every time they are in Japan they spend a lot on appearance like a fashion star. ZZ usually doesn't pay much attention to what he wears. He needs improvement on this. This time I helped him prepare 4 sets of clothing, enough to buy a car." She thought that Da S was amazing. Her overall image and dressup was very elegant. "Like a little princess, I love her." Right after is Osaka, Nagoya, and other places for an exhibition, to build influence. The Japanese side has already rollcalled "Jerry Yan, you should be next."

Tawain's "flower boys" F4 are officially challenging the "Korean influence" in Japan with "Meteor Garden." In the past year Bae Yong Jun's "Winter Sonata" has brought a Korean wind that swept all of Japan. "Meteor Garden" was able to stir a big "Taiwan wind." The first round they have to past is "appearance."

Zaizai was the first lucky pioneer batch to view the exhibition, he commented, "Before the exhibition is officially opened to people, i'm the first to step inside here before everyone to see it. Seeing that F4 are able to come to Japan to meet the fans, i really can't believe it ! This exhibition this time is big-scaled, seeing that the Japan fans like it, i am so happy. If Jerry, Ken and Vanness can be here together to see this, it'll be even more perfect !"

F4 is taking Japan by storm with their 1st single climbing the Top 10 charts

Many Taiwanese music lovers are dedicated to Japanese music but now a Taiwanese Pop Idol Boy Band has successfully entered the Japanese music scene. They are none other than the group that rocked the Asian entertainment scene, F4.

Their 1st single, Jue Bu Neng Shi Qu Ni made it to the Top 10 on their 1st day of release, breaking all records for a Taiwanese boyband in Japan.

Speaking of F4, they are no strangers to the Taiwanese viewers. They are riding on the wave that have hit Asia and now, Japan. Jue Bu Neng Shi Qu Ni hit the Oricon chart on the 6th place without much promotion or publicity. The tendancy of Japanese accepting foreign albums is low, entering the Oricon chart is even more difficult but F4 have proven otherwise and the local media there is impressed.

The Oricon chart was established in 1968 and they compute the sales of record albums online country-wide and hence the locals there think it is fair and accurate.

A recap on Taiwanese singers making it to the Oricon charts are Ou Yang Fei Fei in the 70s with her song, Yu Zhong Pai Hui in the number 1 spot. Judy Ong followed later with Ai De Mi Lian and not only did she hit the number 1 spot but her album sold more than 1 million copies. The late Teresa Teng's Wo Zhi Zai Hu Ni also made it to the Top 10. Recently, only Vivian Hsu's Hei Se Bing Gan got popular in Japan but the Taiwanese male singers have not been successful breaking into their market until F4. Their drama, Meteor Garden will have a repeat telecast in some parts of Japan. Looks like after the Korean wind, the Taiwanese wind will start to blow over in Japan.
