Hello,

--I see that many of you are concerned about Ken’s flu recently, in here I would like to mention that while Ken was filming his movie in Beijing, the weather has been extremely hot, yet the setting was set in the winter, therefore he had to bear the extreme heat with winter clothes, used up a lot of his energy as well as long hours of work, thus he became sick. He has been given lots of time to rest now, and he is recovering slowly. Thank you all for your care and concern. Soon after he will be working with voiceover editing and production work. Many of you have also enquired about Ken’s appearance in the Shanghai Radio event? He will not be attending so not to disrupt his recovery in order for him to be at his best state for work.

--With Vanness’s birthday coming up, he definitely recognizes everyone’s birthday wishes and
support all along. New plans for work has been slightly delayed, therefore he will be spending
his birthday in USA with friends and family. He should be back in Taiwan late August to resume work.

--Zai Zai’s new TV series is filming smoothly, details about this show and news will soon be
released through the media so won’t explain in detail here. We have received invitations to
attend Zai zai as spokesperson for Mainland candy brand event, however things are still under negotiation. If all goes well the event should be sometime in September.

--Jerry’s new TV series is also going smoothly. Currently there are four overseas places he will
be visiting for Oral-B promotions as spokesperson. Date and time are still under negotiations
and will be confirmed shortly. Yanzi’s Mainland concert is not until next year.. isn’t it a little early to have all details confirmed? S&K Concert? We’ve never heard of that, no need to say more…

F4 coming to Hong Kong to attend Disneyland's Grand Inauguration

This early, Disneyland is already setting up its Grand Opening stage for its guests. In order to cater all ages, Disney will match happy music in all its theme parks. Invited to come in the special VIP list are heads of states and big name stars from Japan, South Korea, etc. Also invited are Taiwanese guests including the very hot and exploding F4. Because these special honored guests are all very famous people, Disney had already contacted travel offices in assisting these big name stars secure passes and “English notices”. They were strongly invited but have not yet confirmed their attendance.

The grand opening of Hong Kong Disney will be on September 12. Guest list for those invited to this crucial event starts to be released. According to the sources, there is a special guest list for Southeast Asian region including Japan, Taiwan and Korea in addition to a group of Hollywood super stars. Although Twins are unable to join the big show on 11th evening, they will cope with other colleagues to sing Disney’s all time hit “This is a small world”. Besides, Joey Yung will be the only Hong Kong female singer who will take part in the performance.

According to what has been told, Disney has set the guest list for its opening ceremony long before. In order to match with Disney image for its worldwide coverage feature, special guests invited are all reputable international super stars. Invited from Japan includes Kimura Takuya and his wife Shizuka Kudo, who are well-known for their love caring family. On top of them, Japanese famous singer Ayumi Hamasaki will also be invited. A lot said that the recent on-sale F4@Tokyo Photobook is very expensive. Not all students afford the price, but they still saved from their allowances just to be able to have a copy of the once-in-a-lifetime souvenir from Taiwan-based superstars, F4. There is only one comment from a Japanese fan when a poster of F4 was exposed in one of the stores nearby, "those 4 people are cute, but if they wear black suit, they shouldn't be wearing white shoes"

There are also some observations from other fans who have bought their own copies of F4@Tokyo. The shot in Shibuya had a perfect ambience, the
shot of Vanness in throwing of the stones also was perfectly done, he has the good face that matches the whole atmosphere. But Outside the location seems to be not well-recognized like the shot in Shinjuku Shanghai where the place became small in the picture, but otherwise, the photobook was perfectly done.

Interviewer: When you first met F4, how did you feel toward them?

Mr. Mu: First, I noticed all of them are tall and long-legged. I have had much opportunity to take pictures of Japanese young stars, but, to tell the truth, I was amazed that they are really cool.

I: Every one is over 180 cm high !!

Mr.Mu: When they wear a suit they are really cool! That's great!

I: Do they have a kind of special impression?

Mr.Mu: Well, yes. The oldest Jerry made a strong impression on me. I felt that he has "aura" which is similar to (Mu Chun Tuo Chai - Takuya Kimura has)

I: They are all tall, long-legged, cool, and with a strong
personality, aren't they? As a photographic object, what is their charms?

Mr.Mu : Jerry's appearance is, how to say, very special. He radiates "aura" from head to foot.

Boy bands are still in business

As passé as they might be, boy bands have undeniably made quite a mark in Taiwan’s idol-based music industry. Among the more popular groups is K One. THAM AI MEI ponders the future of boy band power.

Blame it on the Beatles – they were probably the ones who started the boy band mania. The sight of girls screaming and having fainting spells upon seeing their favourite boy bands is nothing new.

In the past decade, boy band fever has spread to Asia as well. Taiwan, in particular, has a knack of churning out baby-faced band members who sell records by the hundreds of thousands even with little talent. An unfair statement? Listen to some of them and judge for yourself.

Even as the trend of forming boy bands seems to be fading, there are still a number of groups that are sticking around with relentless tenacity.

What do people in the Malaysian music industry think of popular boy bands?

“I don’t think there are any hot boy bands anymore,” opines Kong Pik Shi, who is a marketing executive with Music Street. “If you consider May Day as a boy band then it is much better than F4 and Energy.”

According to Kong, K One is one of the better bands.

“There is 5566 and it used to be hot,” she adds.

Yong King Lieng, assistant promotions manager of eq music, says: “Actually, there are many new boy bands from Taiwan such as B.A.D., Tension and Nan Quan Ma Ma.”

Here is a look at some of the Taiwanese boy bands.

May Day is an award-winning pop rock group that is arguably one of the more talented bands around. The group of five is renowned for its loud, noisy brand of rock and youthful vibrancy.

While the boys have regular boy-next-door looks, they are nevertheless admired for making pop accessible to the youths in Taiwan.

Energy, on the other hand, has been facing a decline in popularity, no thanks to the departure of its most popular band member – Toro. Nonetheless, the band still has a small but loyal following amongst the Taiwanese teeny boppers.

And there is F4, which stands for Flower Four. To understand the extent of this foursome’s inexplicable appeal, you have to know that this bunch of well-built, smooth-skinned artistes have been accused of being “electronic heroin” to impressionable teenagers in China as girls were reported to have fainted and screamed uncontrollably at the sight of them.

The Chinese authorities were so worried about the mania the group would cause that they cancelled a few of F4’s concerts.

The group’s TV series, Meteor Garden, was banned after six episodes were aired on TV because parents thought that the boys’ characters in the show would set a bad example for their children.

Surely, members Vic Chou, Ken Zhu, Vanness Wu and Jerry Yen can’t be all that bad, given their angelic looks and beautiful hair.

“I don’t think I have ever known people who could be so perfect,” enthuses an F4 fan, S.C. Lee.

“The best thing about the group is that the members each has a different personality. You can find a strong and macho type in the group as well as a soft-spoken, gentle one,” she adds.

K One, comprising cherubic boys Gino, Darren, Kido, JR and Li Yang, recently launched an album.

Its debut album We R K One garnered mixed reviews. Fans loved their R&B tunes and love ballads while critics accused them of imitating Energy.

The members of 5566 are also making full use of their looks. The four remaining members (Rio Pang left the group after meeting an accident) recently starred in TV series Mr Fighting: Fighting for Love.

The group also starred in Taiwanese soap operas West Side Story and My MVP Valentine and has two albums – Boyfriend Bang Ai (Boyfriend’s Good Love) and C’est Si Bon – under its belt.

Tension is a cutesy quintet that churns out smooth R&B tunes and does synchronised dancing.

Perhaps, the one thing that puts Tension, comprising Andy, Raymond, Brian, Jimmy and John, ahead of other boy bands is that it has R&B maestro David Tao as mentor.

B.A.D clinched a recording contract soon after taking part in a band contest in the United States and it now has two albums in the market.

Other boy bands to look out for include Jay Chou-backed Nan Quan Ma Ma and rap group Machi that are noted for their hip hop style.

While the demand for boy bands seems to be fizzling out, music fans can hardly forget The Little Tigers (Xiao Hu Dui in Mandarin) and LA Boyz – arguably two of the most popular Taiwanese boy bands in the mid-90s.

The Little Tigers comprising Alec Su, Benny Chen and Nicky Wu had all the requisite good looks, agile dance moves and passable vocals. Their success formula was based on the 1980s Japanese boy band sensation Shonentai and Taiwanese fans lapped up the Tigers’ radio friendly music.

Wu soon decided to go solo and the trio split up in 1995 after 11 successful albums.

Taiwanese-American rap group LA Boyz with members Stanley Huang, Steven Lin and Jeff, caused quite a stir with its brand of westernised rap music and oodles of American charm.

Unfortunately, the group disbanded in 1996 and a few of its members went on to establish themselves once again in the music scene. Huang has launched several successful solo albums while Lin and Jeff formed Machi.

Pure fluff some boy bands might be, but who would laugh at them knowing that most already have millions in the bank at an age when ordinary folks are still toiling for their retirement fund.

From the time F4 was launched way back Hanayori Dango times, they
became the center of attraction in asia. Who are they? What can they
offer? Since the release of their Fantasy forever album, a lot have
been astonished & never did know they can sing. They may not be
perfect performers, but who are perfect anyway?

When they decided to go on their ways as individual celebrities, fans
worried & thought F4 will not be as hot as they were during their
first exposure. They became quiet a bit, but when they started to
release their own films, the name F4 started its "SPARK" again.
Endorsements started to overflow, trying to get them for their product
because they know
increase of sales is possible if they get F4 as their models.

F4 are so popular that criticisms and bad news are always behind them.
What is this we heard that 4 girls try to imitate F4 and be the little
versions of them? And another one, Daniel Wu wants to expand and get
his own F4 version in Hongkong!

F4's popularity is not just in one country, it jumps from one place to
another. When one country knows the fame and magic these 4 people get,
other countries definitely ask for their appearances only to be able
to know them fully, and the countries that made them even more popular
extended up to Hongkong, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines
and even in Middle East countries, USA and now in Japan.

But as they always say, provenly, the originals always remains! The
Little versions whose average age range from 6-7 years young. Because
of being Trademarked as F4 little versions, they became a bit hot due
to curiosity, but copycats always have no place in loyal F4 fans. They
after few appearances and exposures were gone and disbanded. Having no
own identities will not go places. As the Loyal die hard fans of F4
said "We remain" - which means their support remains with F4 Only!

However, after little ones now old ones. They are almost the same age
with F4. If F4 became successful in Taiwan, and since it is their
hometown, group of 4 plans to bring F4 wave in Hongkong. After doing a
commercial together, Daniel Wu, Zhiwei, Cheng Zhi Lian and Lian Kai
were formed by a particular record company, thinking they can surpass
or make another F4 fame. These 4 guys are named Alive, the F4 version
of Hongkong. Since the news came out after their formation, a lot of
F4 fans from HK were dismayed by this. "Why do they have to be a role
copy cat of F4, why can't they form their own group and get their own
identity" one HK fan said. "If they will be labeled as our very own
F4 version, we'd rather support Taiwan's F4 than them bec. we better
support established "F4" than wanna-be F4." Exchange student in Japan
(from the Philippines),
Kimberly Santo, frankly said.

With the curiosity, Alive group might release an album soon to
surprise fans in Hongkong and probably might get Taiwan and other asia
market. Start of their exposure is to introduce themselves and reach
out to the fans in Taiwan for an important gathering.

Will they be accepted by Taiwanese? Let's wait and see.

they are in a movie called Meteor Garden..in that movie they are like a group actually the "MOST POPULAR" group in the school...in the movie their name are also F4..**well bcoz of MG that's y untiil now we still called them F4**

well they are not officially a group..because of MG it was so popular back than..so in a real life they have decided to work together make a pictorial book and album together...and their name are also F4..but now most of the time they have worked on their own...make solo album and make their own pictorial book...

judy, he's from the US, not Canada. Hw came to Taiwan, i think 3years before he became part of Meteor Garden (that's what MG stands for). Haven't you seen this series yet? It's a very good series, very entertaining. You should watch it if you haven't yet.

I think Vic used to smoke before his became an actor, but he quit when he started acting. I don't think any of the other three guys smoked ever. Maybe that picture of Ken was from his new series? =P

Zai Zai used to smoke up until the filming of Lovestorm, then he quit and was appointed an anti-smoking idol telling kids not to smoke & why he quit etc. Ken was photographed smoking while he was at his hotel on a private holiday to see some family members in Thailand (2003). Unknown whether he has quit or not - probably yes because he has never been seen smoking (in public) again. Jerry and Vanness are non-smokers. Both are health-conscious and love sports.

So now, all 4 are non-smokers

no PERFECT! There are 4 members, there are also 5 members. 5 members

Jerry Yan is a fan fave, but a lot of girls like Jason Hsu. Ken Chu is

Whereas F4 is more known in Korea. and recently Japan. And have equal

asia, popularity of F4 in Philippines have regressed, according to
sources, because Filipinos prefer to support individual members rather
than the group. 183 Club and KOne, both from Taiwan also are making
their own names and having their own followings as well. 183 Club's
song Xiang Xin Yong Yuan (Believe Forever) was a hit in Singapore.

The battle between the groups is not as competitive like that of the
fans. Most F4 fans dislike 5566 for various reasons and same with 5566
fans who dislike F4. And that is for the fact that because they put in
mind that F4 and 5566 are rivals, but the truth, they are not! THese 2
groups are friends in any way, both are Taiwan-based groups, both are
talented and both are loved by their own respective fans. And that's
about it, these 2 groups have the most respectable personality. The
pressure is on the fans because they are the one
who believe that these 2 groups are actually rivals, when they are
not! These type of groups are very similar in certain ways, but each
and every one of them try extremely hard to take their own original
road and to find their identity. However, even through this battle,
the fans keep coming and neither F4 nor 5566 like the idea of their
fans believing they are competitors or rivals because they actually
are not close friends, but they are civil friends.

The scream from the fans are really unbelievable, and when the
four-some walks by, or even the five-some walks by, the stampede of
crazy and wild fans is almost terrifying! In the recent promotion for
3rd album of 5566 in Taipei, fans didn't care if the weather/typhoon
was terrifying, they will queue to get the best seat and ticket for
the said event just to see the group. And with F4's invasion to Japan,
fans no longer care about their local artists, they now talk about
overseas artist like F4. F4 and 5566 share fans that give them all the
devotion they have. What is it that attracts so many young females to
these 2 groups? Why do these girls fall in love and devote their life
and money to these groups?

Falling in love is a little too strong of a term, but it does describe
a lot of fans. Correctly, it's more like admiration, inspiration and
idolizing. Hearing the lyrics to their many hits, most girls can't
help but say, "oh, how touching, very romantic" it's an automatic
reaction! In the new carrier single of 5566 "Long Time No See" on
their 3rd album which will be out on August 19, it's a touching song
with melodious tunes with matching "Sign languages" that no group has
ever done. Vanness Wu's soon to release album will also contain songs
that harmonize tunes that will feel a bit of attraction, that when it
hits you, you will definitely remain to be a fan.

WIth these 2 groups, all with unique personalities and styles, there
has to be one that suits your ideal guy. When you start to like one
member, it's difficult to avoid the other four or 3 for F4. Now you
become completely attached to them like a glue, you buy everything
they come out, merchandises, stuff with their names faces etc, you
love every little thing they do. Once you become a fan, you extremely
become addictive of your idols. They become a huge part of you! It's
factual! It's like an impulse for you to buy magazines with them,
posters with either their personalized signature and you go on line
for hours to vote for your favorite group/member in a poll survey on
the net. Once you look back at what you have been doing for that
period of time, you'd realize your life almost basically revolves
around them. If the power of being a fan can capture your mind to do
all these things, it has the power to control your fanatic actions as
well.

F4 and 5566 fans have incredible imagination and it's easy for them to
create their own little exquisite world and you can even see their

We also have asked fans from asia who among the 4 groups (F4, 5566,
Kone, 183 Club) for them is extraordinary. Most from Taipei and
Singapore answered K One and 5566, for Korea and Philippines, they
said it was F4. And for Hongkong, it was just almost with equal
results. "I truly and genuinely adore 5566 music & performances while
I like F4's looks, Vic on top of it" Virginia Chau, Hongkong.

For those people who don't understand professional competition, and
they get mad at a certain group for reason that they are rivals, its
wrong! Because F4 and 5566 are not rivals, again, they are friends!
Fans should not over-react to a situation where they bash one group
because of the group they love. It will be safe if you just don't
compare as to why you admire this group than the other one, cause
there isn't really definitive answer for fans as a whole. According to
Vanness Wu "we all need is a role model and we as artists are more
than happy to lend that helping hand to stop the comparison and avoid
enemies in the industry caused by people's wrong belief"

Last APril 4, 2005, in the single Chart, Can't Lose you Carrier Single from the album Fantasy 4ever by F4 reached the top chart in Japan on its first release. But apparently, songs do have its end and its end ranked before it exited at # 13. But still not too bad.

F4 fans vs F4FANS? What is F4?

Since F4 started their career in the business, a lot of fans have already gathered and established themselves to be F4 SUPPORTERS. According to the 4 artists, F4 is F4 and nobody can separate them nor ruin them because they are F4! For them F4 not just stands for Flower 4, but the ultimate meaning of it "F4ever" "F4Life" pertains to lasting friendship!

Fans have thought this group will forever be intact as F4! When they learned Jerry Yan wanted to go solo, the rest followed, the fans were disappointed at first, but later on realized that the group just wanted to try things on their own and take credits for themselves. And true, the group as individuals made their own names as Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu and Vanness Wu. But they have not removed the word "F4" from their system. They have released their own albums, have their own film projects and have proven their worths as solo artists. Still, remarkable with own names.

Since their solo adventure, fans who have admired the group already have their own favorite member and started to support their very own favorite member.

But the similarity of this one is all 4 are from F4. Being a big-time group that is F4, it is plainly about looking good and singing or performing! F4 have 4 resident hotties, baby-faced Jerry Yan, square sweetie Ken, great smile Vanness and striking eyes Vic. All of them have chiseled features,charisma and appeal.

Fans argue on Who sings the best or who got the best vocal cords? Exclude Meteor Rain and Can't Lose you Songs because all of them got their own parts of the song. Individual songs, all have impressive voices. Ken can line up to an acoustic type of song while Jerry and Vic on the ballad side and Vanness more on hip pop. Their voices match their very own personalities and characters that made them F4, F4 that is Loved by asians.Ken Fans appreciate Jerry's songs and vice versa, along with Vic and Vanness. Their songs may not be the best of the charts, but for F4 Lovers, their songs are the best songs ever, and by that we mean, those are the songs that F4 fanatics will wince at even when they hear it in year 2010.

Fans should realize that boys have their own talents, strengths and weaknesses as well, stop the comparison.F4 don't like it when their fans bash each other. Let's face it, the boys have made more of an impression on music. They have CDs that still rates and tops in the asian countries which set record for most units.Yesasia chart is based on # of people who bought/ordered their CDs from their stores, but how about the sales on asia stores that don't have figures ON LINE? And take note, its not all TEENS do the buying, young girls and even mothers are the group's most vocal fans, and they also have more matured devotees as well.

One last thing, If you really are F4 fans, unite and show F4 that all of you are also F4 in the true sense of a word.

I really have to agree with this article! I get so infuriated when i see individual fans of a F4 member criticising the other members in the forum. I mean, come on! They're still F4. And to me, i believe that their relationship is really like what they have in MG 1 and 2. Since the start, they have already emphasised so many times that they're basically 4 individuals working together on that album and shows. And even while they're still a group, Vanness and Vic had already came out with their own albums! And in their concert, they even sang songs from that album, to me, it proves that what they have been claiming to the public - all of it had always been true. It had always been that way, and will always be maintained in that manner.

Even now, when they are not working together as often as before, i believe their relationship is still as strong. I mean, come on! Vanness himself had already said. Each and every single one of them are very much attached to F4. When they're together as a group, i believe that they don't feel awkward with each other. In fact, they're loving it. Or so i hope.

And so far, among the four of them, i heard Ken having the most negative news. Is it really because his attitude has gotten bad, or is it really because all along, it had always been this way. I don't hear or read news about him behaving in this manner whenever he's with the other 3 guys. Is it because they're so familiar with each other, and have been good friends for the past few years, that they're able to understand the working styles of ever individuals together? I certainly hope that's the case.

What about the case when Jerry kissed Vic while celebrating Vic's birthday during a Pepsi event. Doesn't that show how comfortable they are in front of people?

I like to believe that they're really a bunch of four good friends, who have gone through many things together. After all, they're part of F4. The base that had propelled them to where they are now. What do you guys think about my thoughts? Am i really wrong to think of it this way?
