Producer of 'Winter Sonata' to Start Shooting New Drama This Week

SEOUL, April 18 (Yonhap) -- Yoon Suk-ho, producer of the popular South Korean TV drama series "Winter Sonata," will this week begin filming the last of his TV dramas named after the four seasons of the year, Yoon's company said Monday.

"We will start shooting the new drama titled 'Spring Waltz' on Tuesday," Jo Seong-woo of Yoon's Color Co. said.

Yoon's Color is an outside supplier of programs to TV networks established by Yoon, who also works as a senior producer of the public broadcaster KBS.

The star producer has released "Autumn Fairy Tale," "Winter Sonata" and "Summer Scent," depicting three tragic love stories mainly set in three seasons.

In particular, Winter Sonata drew a wide audience in neighboring Asian countries, including Japan, and contributed to the "Hallyu" phenomenon, or the Asia-wide boom of South Korean pop culture. The drama earned its lead actor Bae Yong-joon stardom in Asia.

"Spring Waltz" will be the first of the series to include overseas locations in Europe or Canada, Jo said, adding that domestic filming will be done mostly on a small island of the southern province of Jeolla.

The company expects it will cost about 5-6 billion won (US$4.9-5.9 million) in total to produce the 20-episode drama to be aired on KBS next spring.

"I feel a great burden because this will be the finale of the four-season drama series," Yoon said. "Like the previous three series, this drama will contain subjects that will arouse sympathy from the contemporary audience while depicting a beautiful love story."

Wow....it's starting to film soon? I hope it will be a really good one, at least better than the other three cause I was rather disappointed with Summer Scent. It wasn't as good as I expected, let's hope spring waltz will be aq good one.....

i hope this one is good because i liked autumn in my heart and winter sonata but i didn't like summer scent........ and i hope the actors/actress will be good to^_^....... now i'm really curious, who will be in it?

i heard that the female part will go to the girl who played the lead in my little bride and who played the younger version of song hye kyo in autumn...

I hope jo in sung will be in this series. if you are trying to ask me who id like to be the partners,well it would be kwon sang woo and jeon ji hyun or jo in sung and jeon ji hyun....if ever either of the 2 will be choosen well im so glad they part of tv series..i can't wait to watched and see who are the real cast of spring waltz.. i hope it will be shown here in Philppines..this is the last part of endless love 4 so watched out for it!!!..im so excited...can't wait to see them on screen again...thnx. 9/23/05 – Daniel Henney (다니엘 헤니) is selected to lead the drama “Spring Waltz (봄의 왈츠)” scheduled to be aired by KBS in the spring of 2006. The role he plays is an adoptee. In the extremely popular drama “My Name is Kim Sam Soon”, Daniel’s role Henry, who is very romantic and caring, heats female viewers’ hearts. It is anticipating that he will play an endearing role in “Spring Waltz”. The PD is Yoon Suk Ho (윤석호) whose previous dramas include “Autumn Tale (가을동화)”, “Winter Love Song (겨울연가)”, and “Summer Scent (여름향기)”.

I've heard from someone at soompi that Daniel Henney isn't the lead, maybe he was confirmed but not as the leading actor.. He's good looking but can't act..I hope they find a good actor for the role as this is the last season dramas.

Hopefully can get Kwon Sang Woo or Lee Byung Hun to act the last season.

As for actress, I hope this time will be Kim Ha Neul.

Man i didn't know summer scent was a part of the series i knew the first two.

And Spring waltz? they called it spring waltz, man that sounds terrible . hahahahhaha. It doesn't even seem like its connected

i personally like the name "spring waltz".. it sounds very "dancy" and elegant to me.. i assume it's something related to dance or specifically waltz.. and dance always relate to me something emotional and artistic so shld make sense in the season-series-tragedies.. no offence boi =)

so till now the leads aren't confirmed yet? i kind of like the idea of having moon geun young as the female lead.. the truth is she still need to look a bit more mature.. but seriously she can really cry.. her acting is oso very natural.. actually i think her age will not be a problem since she has acted in many dramas and movies (having lead roles) so this drama shld not stress her in any way.. what's more she's 18 this yr.. song hye kyo was 18 when she acted in autumn story.. so maybe history will repeat itself and moon geun young will become the hot favourite korean star in asia like song hye kyo 5 yrs ago.. my opinion =)

as for male lead, i dont really mind any.. but if moon geun young is the female lead, the male lead will have to look younger.. so kwon sang woo and lee byung hun shld me out of the question i think since they are way more matured looking.. jo in sung is a good choice =) he can act, he's cute and he's young.. i can see him with moon geun young as a happy drama couple =P

Wow I cant wait for this series to come out. I've watched both Winter Sonata and Autumn Tale and I am almost finished with Summer Scent.

All three have been very very good so I hope this one doesn't disappoint. I hope the cast of characters is good. I dont think Daniel should be leading male. He just doesn't look right for that type of part in this drama.

I just hope everything comes out right in the end, but no matter what happens, I'll probably still watch and finish the drama just so I can complete the series. Let's hope for the best

I've read in "Daneil Henney"'s thread in one site that he will be the leading man in "Spring Waltz" and they are choosing between Kim tae Hee, Im Soo Jung, Moon Geun Young and the other girl (i dont know her name) who will be the lead girl. But I hope Kim Tae Hee will be the one or pretty Jeon Ji Hyun or maybe change them to Lee Dong Gun and Ha Ji Won, or Lee Dong Gun and Lee Da Hee. I miss Lee Dong Gun doing TV Dramas.

It has been confirmed that Danielle Henny and Sung Yuri has been casted in KBS 2TV Miniseries 'Spring Waltz' which going to air next year in March.

Newsen spoke w/ "Spring Waltz' producer Jo Sungwoo on the phone. "The main male character has not been decided yet but the main female character is going to be played by Sung Yuri and the 2nd main male character is going to be played by Danielle Henny. Instead of relying on top stars, Yoon Sukho PD wants to choose new stars that can carry on the Korean Wave. Right now we are looking for an actor to play the other main role."

Sung Yuri is going to comeback in a drama after 1 year and 9 months. Her last drama was MBC "Prince's First Love." Danielle Henny who got popular from MBC "My Name is Kim Samsoon' has gotten a chance to become a world wide star by appearing in "Spring Waltz."

After casting the main male character in mid November, a news conference is going to be held for the drama "Spring Waltz."

KBS "Spring Waltz" is the 4th series produced by Yoon Sukho PD who produced "Autumn Story" "Winter Sonata" and "Summer Scent. The episodes with the children has been filmed last march.

After the final casting, Spring Waltz will start filming in November

I read that Yuri pulled out and her replacement is Han Hyo-joo. An 18yrs old girl who has never act in drama before. She was discovered at a teenage beauty pageant. Hopefully, this serie will not be a disapointment since I love the first 3. I can't wait to find out who is the male lead. I am not excited to see Daniel Henney as one of the male lead. Don't know, I just don't feel that he got the charisma. This is just my opinion, sorry if I offend anyone.

So if Daniel Henney is confirmed here, most of the casts need to be who can speak English quite well, isn't it? I hope that the female lead will change to Kim Tae Hee

Last year, when singer-turned-actress Seong Yoo-ri pulled out of "Spring Waltz", an ambitious TV drama produced by "Winter Sonata" creator Yoon Seok-ho, the producer announced 19-year-old Han as the replacement.
The announcement surprised many people as Han was a newcomer to the entertainment world.But Yoon seemed confident with his decision, saying, "Just wait and see. I didn't just find an actress to play the heroine, I found the heroine herself."After the contract with Sung did not work out, producer Yoon immediately cast Han as the heroine, thinking that her innocent and naive image was just right for the role.

In a press interview held on the afternoon of Feb. 20, Park In-taek, president of Yoons Color, the production agency of "Spring Waltz," said, "We have signed export contracts with eight regions, such as Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. We are also conducting negotiations with the United States, Austria, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar."

Park also said, "Holding the full copyrights, the production agency is in charge of the domestic and overseas sales of 'Spring Waltz.' Earnings from the copyright will be shared with KBS. We have already secured the production costs, amounting to nearly 5 billion won, through pre-sales of the drama."
