I can accept DAYO'z bad english becuz, i honestly don't know but if it was some other HK actor,i would be extremely annoyed with it...

He makes it funny and it's obvious that he's not trying to hide the fact that his english isn't the greatest...I guess the reason why it's acceptable to me is becuz, other actors tend to speak the language and think that it's very great or that it'z fluent sounding or that they, themselves, think they're all that, which annoys the hell out of me and it's embarrassing also...I believe that's the reason..I can name names in HKTVB for A/A'z but i wont..

but actually, dayo is very educated in his english and i believe he can speak it quite well. Just that he does such a great job in pretending and makes it funny, so it sounds alirght and indeed quite amusing to watch as well.

however, if you notice carefully, you will find that dayo is quite articulate and has a great understanding of the english language. He knows where the flaws are and takes this to his advantage in 'making fun' of himself.

If i'm not mistaken, dayo spend a few years in Canada and stuided at the University of Alberta.

Cool, his english is really that fluent..Never knew that but still, i have too actually hear him SPEAK it to really JUDGE how fluent sounding it is..

I don't even think Myolie'z english is great ok, but since i'm from the US, my standards are higher then those from say, HK or CHINA..That's the difference..

Too bad, i've been soo caught up with TOB that i didn't dl Ep 12+..Kinda late on the eps and my sister is like, where's the eps?? Anyway, i'll get it sooner or later and i'm hoping for a bulk link and hopefully it's Ep 12 through, lets say, 14 or 15..

Well, i wouldn't say dayo is fluent in english at all...but he is not that 'fobbish' as he appears to be in the series. Like how he purposely trips up in pronouncing "district manager" or have ada help him out. But he knows full well what it means and definitely does not need help in saying it regularly. That was his just comedic sense at work.

blood: i think we had this conversation about english speaking artists b4 in tvsf forum and also i just didn't agree with some comments u made in the tob forum earlier...but really, these are wat forums are for, to discuss things!

goddessofwings: dayo has only starred in another serial called War of Genders...one of the highest rated tvb series ever. And i would say TCTU is kinda like a follow-up to WOG sucess. He also does numerous stand-up comedy shows icluding ones with cheung dat-ming and francis ng. IMO, dayo is one of HK's few 'pure comics'. :lol?:

well although the killers are easy to guess in this series it is still very entertaining to watch because thise series is mainly about being funny and the funny things that Dayo does to reveal the killer. Also I really love Ada and Micheal in this series too especially when Ada calls Micheal "jim jim" then Dayo would call him "jam jam" to make fun of how Ada calls him. I don't really like Marco in this series probably because his character is so mean...

You mean on fairchild? It usually takes around a year to air in canada after it has been broadcast in HK. Too early to know when fairchild will broadcast it. But you can rent it out already.

This weeks episode continues to be hilarious...epecially dayo and ada! Although, the case is kinda boring and we know who the killer is practically from the beginning.

So funny how dayo accidently 'sees' ada when she was in the washroom...and how he says he will take 'responsibility' for it as long as it is not 'that kind' of responsibility and then runs his ass off :lol?:

also, another funny scene was when jim jim takes ada to see that religious woman(7 por) and embarrassing her by saying she is 31 in chinese terms but jim jim is only 27 b/c he's born in toronto and then starts throwing rice in her face..haha.

the part dayo put the chocolates into her bun was also hilarious, causing her to get hiccups for the whole night...and the part when ada & michael climbed the waterfall, at the house, and they were screaming and screaming and then they started laughing....weird....but it was sooo funny i watched it over and over again...

for those who are watching this, it's pretty clear that ada will end with dayo, but how do you think jim jim will react to it?

i'm thinking that either jim jim will get mad for 1 episode and since he is such a nice guy be fine with it in the next episode, or he turns evil and the final case of this series will be dayo investigating murders that involves jim jim.

what other possibilities can you guys think could happen?

Dayo calling his mom "a lern" like how people used to call their mothers in olden days is very cute

Its very unlikely of that to happen because already as fars as I have watched that Belinda is being paired up with "si go but" (Dayo's team leader) because shows some scenes that hints they like each other.

Yes, it is so obvious that the audience will know who the killer is right away... I mean with the sound effects and the face gestures whenever the camera zooms to the killer's face. Anyway, I rented this serie not for the cases but for the plain purpose of getting a good laugh. Dayo is so funny. Me too... I love the way they called Michael..."Jim Jim"..."Jam Jam"... it's so cute. :lol?: I can actually feel the close bond they have between them 3...

i don't really mind the easy to guess killer, but i really hate it that they do a 30-minute flashback to explain how,when and who did it... most of them are scenes that you've seen a lot. If they'd just skip or cut those flashbacks, it'll be a 20-eps series.

yea... it's way too easy to guess the culprit. but this series is fun only because it's funny. they don't bother to do much with mystery since this is nothing like the other cop shows.

I agree with athlonkmf that the flashback took a large portion of time.

The show was funny and indeed hilarious. But sometime after watching one episode and recall back what I have watched, it is like a large portion of it belongs to the previous episode and only a small portion is newer development of the story.

But actually all cop series need flashback, to save up the viewers' effort to recall and it is always easier to watched and link up the clues together than simply listen to the actor memorising them.

May be because the lack of suspense in this series that make the time spent on flashbacks seems obviously longer.

Hehe, 5 more episodes to go now! Hope funny things still crop up and there will be a good ending!

omg ppl dont u know who his mum is? I could tell the first time i heard her voice! LOL. yeah its the lady in the tv who is called suet (as in snow i think) lei or sit lei.

its kinda funny how they dont show her face though.

and oh this series is just so funny how Dayo always makes snide remarks about Ada like when Ada went up 2 her boss' hotel room and Dayo was tracing back the steps in the solving the case part and he made a snide remark about ada being boring or something like that. i cant rmb but it was funny at the time

I have rewatched the TVB TV Presentation for 2004. I noticed that the original Female lead for this series was Joyce Tang instead of Ada Choi. =P
