Shoujo mangas are really great. Actually, I'm looking for some new ones too, if anyone would like to suggest some to me. My rule is art first then plot. No matter how good the plot is, if the art's not good enough, then I wouldn't read it.
Shoujo mangas that I enjoyed in the past:
Full Moon wo Sagashite: Good art (as it always is with Tanemura-sensei) and cute plot. I love the characters too. Oh and there's a plot twist in the middle of it. ^__^
Imadoki: The art is good, as expected of Watase-sensei. But the plot is very cliche. Good thing the comedy makes up for it.
Kare Kano: This one was VERY funny in the beginning, then a little draggish in the middle, then very dark in the end. The plot seemed a little cliche in the beginning, but I was proved wrong as the series went on. I love the art. I'm so glad that the ending finally came out because it was such a long series.
Fruits Basket: Very original plot. I liked the art in the beginning, but now the art changed so much that I barely recognize it. The plot is getting darker and darker, unlike the beginning, where I was rolling on the floor with the humor. I can't wait for the ending.
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles: Who thought that a little more romance between Sakura and Syaoran was needed in Card Captors? I DID!! So, it would be an understatement to say that I was IN LOVE with Tsubasa when it came out. Plot is a tiny bit cliche, with the memory loss and what not, but the originality of the different worlds surely made up for it. And I love all the characters in it, not to mention the ART! Basically, this is a MUST read.
Wallflower (Perfect Girl Evolution): There is two words that come to mind when I think of this manga: Random Humor. If you're looking for deep plot, it's definitely not for you. But if you want some time to relax and wind down, read this manga. The art, in my opinion, is alright.
Ultra Maniac: Short, cute and sweet. I love the art, plot and the characters. I also like the fact that it's really short.
Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne: At first, I didn't like the idea of reading about another heroine trying to save the world, but I decided to stick around because of the art and the characters. Then the plot twist in the middle kept me hooked, so I just ended up reading the whole series. But I liked it, so I guess that's all that matters.
Time Stranger Kyoko: Short, and good art. I liked the chracters more than the plot. And I liked the art more than the characters. I think I wouldn't have stuck around if the story was draggy.
Zettai Kareshi: My latest shoujo manga. The plot was cliche, but the art was good. And the comedy was good too. Umm...I don't think I would have stuck around for this one either, if the plot was any longer.
Fushigi Yugi: I watched the anime, but did not read the manga, which says something. I liked the art, but the plot was so draggy and the female characters were so annoying that I had to skip the middle of the series and just watch the ending (which I found out that it wasn't the ending for the manga). But I wasn't willing to read the ending, because I just can't put up with the whiny female characters.
Aishiteruze Baby: This one was really cute. Loved the art. Yuzuyu is just so adorable and lovable. I thought the plot was original because I never read a manga based on parenthood before. But maybe that's just me.
That's all for me. Suggest me any mangas that you would think I'd like. I also like Full Metal Alchemist, Detective Conan, and Rurouni Kenshin if that helps.
