I've just recently had a really bad cold but recovering from it now. However I've practically lost my voice some days when I get up. Feels all clogged up and can't even speak. I just thought I might share my experience and suggest a way that worked for me in case anyway ever comes across the same situation.

Also if anyone could suggest other methods would be good so I can try out as I'm still in process of recovery.

The method I tried and sorta helped was my mum made me a glass of warm kumquat water. She been brewing her own kumquat for ages now so the water was really salty and a bit bitter. But straight away I got a bit of my voice back.

What I am interested to know is has anyone tried taking the egg white and adding hot water to a glass and drinking that. Mum tried to get me to drink that but I felt a little off so didn't try.

Really want a effective method as my voice is main thing for my occupation.

Dissolve some salt in warm water and then use it for gargling. Honey doesn't really help me much.

In that case, tazzy, the foremost thing is to get rid of your cold.
See a doctor, if it gets worse, or is not gone in a week or two.
And, the usual advice... drink lots of water and take lots rests.
Take your sick days worth.

IMO, when you lost your voice, dont try and push more out. Might even irritate your voice-box more.
Just give it a rest.
Otherwise, it will take longer to recover.

i think just drink plenty of warm water and try not to talk too much. let your throat rest for the time being. you can try to eat sore throat sweet or drink honey water.
