I think you have to order basic satellite (prices may vary) PLUS the jadeworld channels package which is $40 for 4 chinese channels, I think. I'm not absolutely sure so it's best that you consult Direct TV for further details.

You don't need to order any other packages or basic satellite. You can just order the jadeworld channels package and that's it. Just go to www.tvbusa.com to find out how to order if that's all you want. Just that when you're channel surfing, you won't get to watch most channels.
Go to www.directv.com if you want to order other channels too.

I have the jadeworld channels. I think it's pretty good. Jade World channel east caters to viewers on the east coast. Jade World west for viewers on the west coast. The main programs are the same on these two channels, but they do have some different programs also. There's a mandarin channel that broadcasts TVB series in Mandarin and other Taiwanese/Mainland china series. The movie channels broadcasts different movies, some good and some pretty crappy. And then there are the CCTV channels, one Mandarin and the other English. The Jade East and west channels broadcast TVB series, some really old, and some recent ones, though the "recent" ones are at least a year or two old, so new series airing in Hong Kong won't be shown until a year later. They air sitcoms too. Right now, Virtues of Harmony II episode 66 was just aired tonight, so viewers here are way behind. Currently, Survivor's Law and the King of Yesterday and Tomorrow are airing during primetime. The Bund II is airing on jade east channel during daytime. The channels do air special shows around the same time as Hong Kong, such as Miss HK, though there may be a day difference in the airing time. Overall, it's a pretty good deal if you don't have access to a TVB rental store and if you enjoy watching classic TVB series. If you don't like watching old tvb series or you've already seen the lastest tvb series, then you probably won't get much out of this package.
