Hey!

Who here has chinese channels from their cable or satelite service? I live in Canada and we only get Fairchild TV. Its alright at times but it shows TVB series that are 1-2 years behind. Currently, they are airing Virtues of Harmony 2 and Perish in the Name of Love.

In America, Jadeworld is airing Palcebo Cure (sp) correct? I wish I had Jadeworld but we cannot get DirecTV in Canada due to some copyright and communication rules!

that's why you stop watching Fairchild and start downloading the HK series to watch, and hook your computer up to your TV, so you end up getting commercial free tvb series playing on your TV

I am also currently living in Canada. Therefore, if I wish to order 'chinese tv channel', fairchild tv would be the only choice. I used to have 'fairchild channel' with cable, it costed me an extra $15. However, I find that the tv series that they show are a bit out dated. As a result, I discontinued the chinese channel service. Now I just download tv series from AF and it is much better than paying for the channel. Save lots of money.

:shock

We used to have TVBS-Europe via satellite, but we ended the subscription as we seem to miss lots of episodes. They're quite up to date with the series though, I think they're now airing Survivor's Law, Better Halves and Virtues in Harmony II... Next up will be Find The Light. So they're only about a year behind lol...

Anyway, we're renting videos again and I only download old series that I want to watch again or the ones that the rest of the family doesn't want to see...

yeah you do. Direct TV is a lot of money every month. They have the International Channel, phoenix channel, and also the Jade channel. None of them air updated shows, except for the jade ones, when there is an award show and miss hk. stuff like that.

I live in the U.S. and I have DIRECTV. It includes Jade West (west coast), Jade East (east coast), Jade Super (Mandarin), Movies channel, and CCTV 4. As of right now, Jade is featuring Virtues of Harmony II, The King of Yesterday and Tomorrow, Survivor's Law, and Fate Twisters. Series are shown after a year or so after its release on tapes.

nope. america's direcTV/jadeworld is just as "up-to-date" as fairchild in canada. "placebo cure" is not airing here. jadeworld east & west are both airing "survivor's law", "king of yesterday and tomorrow", "virtues of harmony 2", and "fate twisters".

but from the commericals, the series that will be coming up after "survivor's law" are: "better halves" (steven ma/maggie cheung), "w-files" (gallen lo/yoyo mung), "not just a pretty face" (roger kwok/joey yung), and finally, "triumph in the skies" (francis ng/flora chan). but i'm not sure if it's in that order.

after "king of yesterday and tomorrow" are: "vigilante force" (kenix kwok/bowie lam), "armed reaction 4" (bobby au yeung/ada choi), "point of no return" (julian cheung/charmaine sheh).

i actually really want to watch "aqua heroes" but it doesn't seem to be in the schedule anywhere.

I live in Canada and I watch Fairchild TV. However, the series they air are like 1-2 years old... so the chances are that it's so old I don't want to watch it, or I already rented it on tape...

I live in Canada as well.
We get Fairchild TV and Talentvision (a mandarin channel) is also available for extra cost. As many of you have already said, Fairchild really isn't updated. That's alright, because I rarely watch Fairchild anymore so my parents watch it. They don't care about how new/old a series is, as long as they have something to watch.

Apparently the reason for why Fairchild's tvb drama are so old (1-2 years old) is b/c TVB first needs to make money off the dramas through renting it.
If the newest dramas are availble in Fairchild right after it aired in hk, who's gonna rent the tapes in Canada?

i found that abit interesting.. haha

When I had cable I had umm 1 Cantonese channels and umm 4-5 Manderin channels. I had the Jade Channel but it only aired from 2:00pm-2:00am, and started at like 12:00am were reruns.. The series were pretty old too... concerts were like 1-2 years old.. movies were REALLY old... but I still liked it.. But then my mom cancelled it.. so I just have umm regular channels now.. But I get umm this "International Channel" The asian stuff starts at like 5 to umm 8... It's news in Cantonese for one hour, Manderin news for one hour, than umm a tv series from China or Taiwan for one hour...

I live in Canada as well, and FairchildTV is a ripoff! it's $19.95/month + taxes, rental, etc. so expensive to watch TV now, and the series that are airing are all old and are shown at the wrong times lol
