 It is odd why Alex Fong(not the singer) is not one of the idols. He is famous for most of his movies and some tvb series too. I wonder why nobody cares to start a new thread for him. I think he is a good actor. You can discuss anything about Alex in this thread.

Doesn't he look like a younger asian-like version of Richard Gere, the American actor? I keep looking at him and think of Richard Gere. Can't help it. :lol?:

He is definitely a good actor. Although some people said he just has a cute face, I think he is cute...........and act very well too. He is the HK Richard Gear.......for sure!

I don't think age really matter. Richard Gere was cute when he's young......but still very handsome right now. I believe Alex will be the same.

I agreed because some actors are like 40 to 50 or more, but they're not so bad. It's the acting that counts. That's right! he's not popular maybe because he played the bad guy better than the good guy...I don't knoe. i guess.

The Sun 01/10/04]

Yoyo Mung and Alex Fong (Chung Sun) took part in the opening of an ice cream parlour in Macau yesterday and Yoyo revealed that she received this job thanks to Alex: "He does not treat me as badly as the rumours suggest!" Talking of the promotion for "Split Second" that was going on at the same time over in Hong Kong, Yoyo says: "We are promoting the show over in Macau!"

As for "Split Second" airing straight after "War and Beauty", Yoyo says: "I am so scared that any good ratings will be put down to the show beforehand... in the past, I rarely watch the series that I make, but this time I will try and make it home to tune in." As for Alex, for whom Macau is his home, he says that if he has time, he will go home to visit his parents as well as take Yoyo for a massage.

The grand finale of "War And Beauty" drew in a lot of viewers, including fellow TVB actors and actresses! "Split Second", which will be aired after "War", held its own dinner party last night. Producer Law Wing Yin, cast members Alex Fong, Yoyo Mung and others watched the finale of "War" first, and then watched a special titled "The Making of 'Split Second'". Alex and girlfriend Rebecca Mok (Ho Yan) showered Charmaine Sheh and Sheren Tang with praises. As a self-proclaimed loyal fan of "War", Alex said, "Charmaine's acting has improved tremendously! Yee Shun was made to be her character. She played it so well."As for Yoyo Mung, she found Sheren's acting to be most impressive.

Although "Split" will be aired after "War" and the pressure can be intimidating, Alex and Yoyo are both confident and believe "Split" will receive good ratings as well. Producer Law says, "It's good that 'Split' will be aired next. 'War' is a show about ladies, and 'Split' is a show about gentlemen. The balancing arrangement is perfect!"

The new serial "Yu Yung Han Yan" also held a dinner party last night, with producer and cast members watching the grand finale of "War" together. Adam Cheng said his friend Sheren should be the favorite to take the female lead award this year. He also said he would support Maggie Cheung, as they had previously worked together.

News
After "War And Beauty", TVB's grand production "Split Second" is scheduled to start airing tognight. The cast members, including Alex Fong, Patrick Tam, Kevin Cheng, Yoyo Mung and Claire Yiu, took part in a promotional game yesterday. They were required to describe their characters in thirty seconds. Whoever failed would have two balloons burst right beside them. Turned out Alex was the big loser, and he could take someone to suffer with him. He picked Yoyo, although she begged him not to. To get back, Yoyo poked fun at Alex and revealed he went out for a massage during shooting. Alex then replied Yoyo went gambling.

Alex is confident "Split Second" will do well, and he jokes it's almost like "Richard Gere vs. Johnny Depp". It's well known that Alex is the "Eastern Richard Gere", but who's the "Eastern Johnny Depp"? Alex says it's Patrick and he's a good actor. He adds that Patrick is the kind of actor who only decides how to act a certain scene out at the last minute, but Alex likes it that way. Asked who is the better actor of the two, Alex says older audience might like him more, as he has kids in "Split", and he does everything to protect them. As for "Split" lacking rumors which helped "War" become more popular, Alex jokingly replies he acted like a producer during shooting, and decided to add or cut scenes on his own, so all the other cast members hated him.

Although Yoyo is often the victim of Alex's pranks, they are very much in sync one one issue. They both think the popularity of a show has nothing to do with rumors. Yoyo says "War" did have a lot of rumors when it started airing, but as the story progressed, people switched their attention to the plot and the acting, and this goes to show that the most important popularity factor is the quality of the production after all.

[The Sun & Oriental Daily 07/11/04]

***WARNING: SPOILERS FOR "SPLIT SECOND"***

TVB series "Split Second" has stirred up much criticism since it has been aired. Reader Ms Lo complains that the storyline is illogical and the suggestion that the Chief of Police played by Ko Hung received bribes is detrimental to the image of the police force.

Miss Lo goes on to point out that as the ICAC was established in 1974, there was a pardon issued for all the police officers at the time who received bribes, so if Ko Hung's character received bribes in 1973, then there is no reason for this to be held against him. As for a Criminal Intelligence Bureau Senior Inspector (played by Kevin Cheng) to interview and investigate a Chief of Police, then this is the wrong procedure.

The show's producer Lo Wing Yin responds saying: "Ms Lo seems to know the storyline so well, so she must be a super fan of the show. However she needs to be more patient and watch the rest of the show to find out that Ko Hung has been set up and it will not affect the image of the police force. When we filmed the show, we did all our research beforehand and if there are any more doubts, we will investigate this further and respond to the viewers comments."

[Ta Kung Pao 26/01/05]

Valerie Chow, Alex Fong (Chung Shun) and Christine Ng took part in a notebook PC promotion yesterday and were all presented with the latest products. Valerie often has to use a laptop computer for her work, but she says she has never experienced romance online. However, she has already decided to get married soon.

1991 Miss Hong Kong Runner Up Valerie and Indian designer boyfriend have been dating for nine months and their love has blossomed, so on her birthday last December, he has proposed to her and she has agreeed, so they plan to get married at the end of this year in a ceremony abroad. When asked why she will not be getting married in Hong Kong, she says there would be too much pressure, she wants to keep things simple and this is difficult in Hong Kong.

When asked if her boyfriend had got down on one knee to propose, Valerie smiled: "He did everything. (You have not been together for even a year, is this a lightning wedding?) We are old enough and know what we are doing. (What attracts you to your boyfriend?) He is a good person and we do not need to compromise for each other as we are so alike and it is very comfortable. (Will you be having children after you marry?) At the moment, my career comes first because it is getting better and better and there are a lot of opportunities, so I do not want to give it up yet. (How does your boyfriend feel?) He lets me make my own decisions."

Alex goes on the internet every day, but he only has one laptop at home and sometimes when he and his girlfriend need to go and work away, they will fight over who takes the computer. Now he has been given another one, he can avoid this conflict. He laughs: "Originally I was going to buy another one, but my girlfriend said it would be a waste, so now we have been given one, it is the best thing tht could have happened!"

Talking of his recent developments, Alex says that originally he was planning to head to the mainland to shoot a series in March, but because of a problem with the script, it has been delayed until June. However, he has agreed to film a series for TVB in May, so he does not know what to do. As for the three months he has in the meantime, will he be going on vacation? He says that his girlfriend will be heading over to Thailand for work in February, so he will be going diving with Jacky Lui and some friends in Malaysia. When asked if there was any effects to the area from the earlier Tsunami disaster, Alex says the effects are enormous because the sea bed will take at least eight to ten years to return to normal. When asked if he was worried about further earthquakes, he says: "If it was to quake, Hong Kong would be destroyed to, you cannot underestimate the power of nature."

Alex Fong Chung Shun and Derek Yee Tung Sing earlier each has made a wedding promise. The former said that if he won Best Actor he would marry girlfriend Mok Ho Yun, the latter said that he would wed if he won Best Director. Finally, Fong Chung Shun did not win two nights ago and escaped the fate of being urged to wed. When asked about his wedding at the post party, he said that this time he only "ran along". When the press asked further he used friend Yee Tung Sing as a shield. "He will get married first!" He then pointed at Yee Tung Sing's girlfriend and said, "They will wed in Vancouver in September. This (Hong Kong FIlm Award) is the engagement gift." Yee Tung Sing was obviously avoiding the subject.

Later Fong Chung Shun will end his "long vacation" and officially return to work on CHIN BUI BUT JUI (THOUSAND GLASSES WITHOUT DRUNKEDNESS) and AH SOH (SISTER IN LAW). When asked whether he would be concerned about rumors with the AH SOH lead actress, Fong Chung Shun said, "She is 20 something, I am 40 something, if she doesn't mind I don't. I am old and gray."
