Anyways, just want to share my thoughts about TVB themesongs.
There are many nice ones out there after all these years.
Do you guys feel different when you listen to songs that are used in TVB series???
Like Eason's song for TITS. The next time you come across this song, you'll somehow relate it back to TITS and think about the series for a while.
I like many TVB themesongs, few of them are:
Plain Love 2 - Jacky Cheung and Priscilla Chan sang the song so beautifully!
Country Spirit - Jacky Cheung and Kit Chan did a great song together!
TITS - Nice!
A Taste of Love - Miriam Yeung did a good job on the song...
The Awakening Story - Faye Wong sang the song right? Anyways, it's a lovely song...
Journey to the West - Dicky Cheung's catchy song, love it!
Witness to a Prosecution - Forgot and lost the song, but somehow I feel it should be nice...Eason sang that one too.
Those above are just some from my memory. There's actually heaps of songs that reflects different feelings when you listen to them. To me, these themesongs will somehow be special whenever I play them.
Do you have any themesongs that you like or think it's good? Will be nice to share them out since I might have forgotten some good ones too.

Yeah, that song is a classic.
My parents like it too. It's just one of the memorable ones around.
Last time I watched a special show where they have popular singers singing songs from classic TVB series, specially ancient series ones. It brings back good memories about those old series

What's the song's name in Chinese by Faye Wong?"Lalala".
I know how it sounds.

I don't know what's the title, sorry. Maybe others will be able to help.
And athlon, re-post what you said in here earlier since it's now gone.
I'm sure they are interested in the link as well.
I have another themesong which I think everyone will know too. But I don't know the title and I don't have any tunes I can link you all to.
It's for an ancient series for sure. It's sang alot in many occasions. By Roman Tam too I think. It has a lot of the word 'san' as in 'mountains' in that song. The song starts with 'Man sai kan...see fau lalalalala' I don't really know the proper wordings, so I can't type it all out. Sorry I sucked in describing this.

but the theme song of 'Eternal Happiness' by Kelly Chan wasn't bad either. it didn't have the same effect on me as the ROTC song though.

that is the LOTCH 3rd -Wah Shan Leun Geem- main theme.
goes something like this:
<I ask, in the world are the hills the heighest>
<what i post before>
I like a lot of themesongs, the TITS-theme, or the TGUIT-theme, BUT!!!..
no matter how good those songs are, THE best themesong would be the Legend Of The Condor Heroes part 1 (1983) -Iron Blood, Loyal Heart- theme.
That music, if played fast, makes the series exciting, if played slow, it makes the scene sad, if it's played hard, you get goosebumps from the heroic air it transmits.
Everytime when you hear the music, the scenes of that series will be flashed into your eyes. THat is THE best themesong. It's just that the composer is kinda a pervert... maybe all geniuses are perverts?
BTW, if you listen to our AF_radio, you might be able to hear the themesongs too.

Ohhh myyy...you actually know that song that I described, thanks!!! I like how you translate that part, it confirmed the song, keke...
Btw, don't you think this song rocks? I feel it's actually quite nice...
I listen to AF Radio frequently, don't worry
Does anyone recall the song from Journey to the West 1 where there's this sub song sang during the part where Kwong Wa got kidnapped by the Snake Demon inside the temple? The song's very calming and soothing really...
I have the song which I stumbled upon, so I'm very glad I have it! They say the singer is Benny Chan but I don't think so.
It goes like this...'Yung pa chiu sin mut pat ching, lim kan ku chau sam cheng meng, hap chi yat suen yeung hei ka sa chui ngo sai keng...'
I'll be surprised if anyone knows this one
Doh'...I actually have the LOTCH3 themesong in my comp, stupid of me...
Okay one last one. I'm surprised nobody mentioned Old Time Buddy songs! Do you guys still remember the songs?
I love EVERY single songs they used in that series. I have the cassette last time with the compilation, but I lost it
Anyone have their whole collection of songs???

It's NOT sung by Benny Chan. He only sang the themesong. And it's not JTW 1, but 2.
The song's lyric is very good indeed. Hmm.. maybe i should start that song up again.
translation is like this if I remembered correctly:
In a human life lethal dangers can be lead away lightly,
Thousands of beauties has no meanings anymore,
A mirror won't be dusted anymore,
my mortal heart is moved.
Today's fruit depends on yesterday's culturing,
The scripture in my hand, has to be valued in my heart.
Facing heavens, facing the earth, my dreams can be finished.
Pah Chiu Seen can't be used to wipe it clean,
chanting the <tight ring>-script clears the heart,
Closing my hands, taking up my robe, going to retrieve my western scripture
The mortal and the immortal world can be my witnesses,
---don't remember---
no need for hate, no need for love, only love my western scripture.
Hmmm.. funny, all the songs you guys described here are available at AF-radio
that's because i'm a sucker for themesongs, and have collected a LOT
Hmm.. is should do a themesong hour..

Actually I'm very happy that you know this one, it's really a good song and I don't think lots of people pay attention to this one.
Loved your translation of the song. You got the full one?
Seems that after you translate the first few parts, the song got even more meaningful because I can felt the song more after knowing its deeper content.
Do you know where to get extensive collection of themesongs? I really want to keep as many good ones as I can. They are too good to be missed out! And specially the Old Time Buddy ones

well, i have that old-times-buddy's songs too
but there is a tvb-songsite, although the quality is not always high and it's hard to download. I don't know the new address anymore though.
I've just collected my collection here and there, bought a few TVB-themesongsCDs and stuff.
My english is not good enough to translate the full song of that JTW2-subtheme I think, they use quite tough words. And yes, I do have the full theme in high-quality. Just loaded it in my mp3-player.

Agree. Some of the chinese songs really have a deep meaning to them and I feel it's really nice listening to it.
And THANK YOU so much for attempting to translate the lyric for me. You did a very good job on it
And I don't know how to open the link you posted. My Winamp hanged a little when I clicked on it and then nothing happens after it loads.

All time favorites,
Legend of the COndor Heroes 1,2,3: Roman Tam and Yan Lei...some of u mentioned the 1st and 3rd one, but my favorite was actually the 2nd. But all 3 songs are just simply classics in its own right.
Fearless Duo: Alan Tam
Absolutely the best heart-wreching lyrics! It applied perfectly to the story of the series. Sometimes i can't help myself thinking of barbara yung's own real-life tragic death whenever i hear this song. Just so sad! Who can change...???
The Bund: Francis Yip
Beautifully composed and sung, very heroric sounding.
Looking back in Anger: Danny Chan
Deep-emotional lyrics that summed up the 'evil-road'of deric wan in the show. I luv the last line translate something like, "I never imagined what I have lost, was everything I had."
Greed of Man: Alan Tam
Everytime i hear this song, clips of the series flash in my mind, especially when ding hai threw his sons off the building.
Other memrable ones:
The Link: Andy Lau
The Zu Mountain Saga: Deric Wan and Nnadia Chan
Conscience: Deric Wan(it might actually be the sub)
Return of Wong Fei Hung: Dicky Cheung
Heartstrings: Aaron Kwok
Secret of the Heart: Gallen Lo(2nd half one)
Healing Hands: Instrumental (subs by william so&edmond leung too)

Most of the TVB themes sung by Eason I really like (then again I've always been a fan of his music). THere are a lot of other TVB series themes that I like, probably too many to list, but just to name a few:
The songs from Golden Faith (not just the theme)
Eternal Happiness theme by Kelly Chen
Return of Condor Heros '96 (or 95) by Emil Chau and some lady
Healing Hands theme
