Hunan TV launched its 2010 tv drama series in a press conference for its “Single Princess and Blind Dates” in Shanghai on 2010-05-26. The director Chen Ming Zhang, the producers, the leads Jimmy Lin, Dylan Kuo, Zhao Liang, and Hong Xiao Ling attended. Jimmy Lin admitted that he has to receive his son Xiao Xiao Zhi’s photo daily before he goes to bed. There is already too much pressure from just 1 kid. He has no plans for another one.

“Single Princess and Blind Dates” is based on an online novel and is the feature in Hunan TV self-produced 2010 tv series. It’s about the current hot topics of blind dates and old maids. The director Chen Ming Zhang other series “Fated to Love You” and “My Lucky Star” both got high tv ratings. “Single Princess” is a light comedy about old maids. He hopes the new series will be a winner in Chinese tv ratings. In the preview we can see the light-hearted drama fits Hunan TV’s characteristics.

The male lead Jimmy Lin did not appear in another modern series since “My Lucky Star”. He is working with director Chen again and said the script is very attractive. His character is a graduate film student who works as an intern in a tv station. He’s kind-hearted yet naïve and has romantic relationships with Zhao Liang and Le Tong Tong. The series is being filmed in Shanghai. Jimmy said he misses his son and asks that his photos be sent to him daily. When asked if he wants to have another baby he laughed and said one baby is more than enough. He has no time for another one.

Hunan TV’s Zhao Liang plays the old maid Le Tong Tong. Director Chen said this character is just like Zhao Liang’s. This is her first acting experience and it is grueling. Director Chen said working with her was exhausting in the beginning. He scolded her many times that brought her to tears. She has since improved tremendously.

Besides Jimmy Lin and Zhao Liang, Dylan Kuo also starred in the series. He dropped his nice guy image and plays the angelic/devilish CEO Fang Yan who is tangled up in a love triangle with Jimmy Lin and Zhao Liang.

The series is directed by Taiwan golden director Chen Ming Zhang, who directed “Fated To Love You” and “My Lucky Star”. Chen said when he first read the script he knew the character Chi Van is written for Jimmy. He joked, “I am so sick of it, so many years and he still looks the same. He’s a father now and is more mature than when he filmed My Lucky Star.” Jimmy and Zhao Liang have many kissing scenes. When asked if he had to report to his wife first he laughed and said, “Acting is my job. Kissing scenes are unavoidable. If there are bed scenes I’ll let her know first.”

As one of the wealthier actors, Jimmy works even harder after he became a dad. He’ll hold a concert in the latter half of the year and film a movie. His son Xiao Xiao Zhil is taken care of by his family. He misses him but when asked if he plans to have more babies he joked, “I am not Nicholas Tse. There are no plans now.”

another BTS. jimmy is so cute. he brought XXZ a race car push-cart. all his baby clothes, silverware, even diapers have car designs. Jimmy put XXZ in his Ferrari and let him touch the steeling wheel. poor XXZ, being pushed to love Ferraris.

i remember in an old vid jimmy said he hated kids who got in his cars and touched everything and pushed every button. He changed so much after he had XXZ.

lazypoochie, i kinda remember you from the crazy MLS days. Jimmy returned to pro car racing after MLS and didn't pick up any idol series. Of course, he also took time to make a baby with his model fiancee. His son Xiao Xiao Zhi is almost 1 yr old.

he has an upcoming series in china, Single Princess that will air in Oct 2010. Hopefully, more fans will come back. In an recent interview he said he won't give up car racing but will spend more time in showbiz from now on. I guess with a family he doesn't want to endanger his life. Hope to see him more but he's as low-key as ever.

It has been 4 years since Jimmy Lin released an album. His new EP will come out in Oct. On Aug 13 he was in Shanghai for Jet Li’s One Charity Race and the International Renault Formula Race. He couldn’t hold his happiness when talking about the new EP. “The new songs are full of blessings. I want to share my happiness with everyone.” He also told us he fights with his son over toys. “He has music talents. He can ‘play’ the guitar and dance “Nobody”.

Jimmy: “The theme songs for Hunan TV series Single Princess and my new EP will be released in Oct. All the songs have been recorded. We just have to shoot the MV and the cover. I will be very busy for the rest of the year. There will be a very good movie about racing and a TV series. I personally like the story of the idol series. The concert tour will have to wait till next year.”

Can you share with us some of your father tales?

Jimmy: “I spend time with him. It’s like a big kid with a small kid. We fight over toys, listen to music and sing together.

How do you divide your time?

Jimmy: “I have many roles and can divide my time between them fairly well. I am a singer, actor, car racer and added the role of father last year. Of course, I’ve to spend more time with my family now. It’s a sweet burden to me. My attitude has changed now. I used to spend a lot of time in racing and made only a TV series every 3 to 4 years. Since Xiao Xiao Zhi was born I want him to see more exceptional works of his father. I want to set an example for him. I spend all my spare time with him now. He is 11 months old. It’s the cutest time. He can walk and is very active. He has the music gene and can dance to “Nobody”. He can also pretend to play the guitar. Very cute.

How do you divide your time between movies, music, and car racing?

Jimmy: “It has always been half and half. I used to have a race every other month. Now I’ve basically moved to the background and lead the team in different races. Our team won the 2009 Asian Renault Formula grand championship. I won’t compete in as many races but will instead train new racers. It’s better than me racing.

Will you collaborate with Jet Li in a movie?

Jimmy: “If there is the chance I’d love to. But I’ll have to beef up my kung fu first. His movies always need good kung fu background. I should be okay. I made so many ancient series.

Xiao Xiao Zhi will turn 1 in a month. How will you celebrate?

Jimmy: “We’ll have a birthday party for him. He’s the oldest grandson and he’s quite the people person.”

Do you have confidence in the upcoming International Renault Formula race?

Jimmy: “I’ll try my best. The racers are all professionals from all over the world, like Thailand, Japan Europe… Our team hired a champion racer from New Zealand. I’ll try my best. There are so many world class racers. I’ll be satisfied if I could finish in the top 6. Not necessary win but I’ll fight to the last second.

It’s rumored that you are the highest pay Taiwan racer, making mover 10M a year?

Jimmy: “Not that much. On the contrary, I’ve been giving a lot and not taking much in. I should say…I am the best singer and dancer among racers and the best racer among artists.

You had a terrible accident before. How do you feel about it now?

Jimmy: “I hit the lowest point in my life after the accident but I stood back up. When I first started racing my attitude was to win at all cost. I hit a wall at 150 kph, spin around twice before I stopped. Smokes poured out of the race car. I tried to get out but couldn’t stand on my right foot. I jumped out with one foot and the car burst into flames. It was quite scary. At the hospital I found out three bones in my right foot were broken. I was in clutches for 6 months. At the same time, I couldn’t find the direction in my showbiz career. I was just discharged from the army and tried to prove myself to others. I kept asking myself why. I then returned to the race track and concentrated on beating my own record instead of others. I told myself isn’t it the same thing in my showbiz career. I only need to exceed my old record, a step at a time. Then I accepted the role of Xiao Y’er in The Legendary Siblings. I am like Xiao Y’er, always optimistic and no need to act like a hurt prince. After that I found my direction.”

Now that you have a family, will you hold back during races?

“I thought of that too. On the first day I did step on the brake. There are pressures. After a few days of practice I got back to normal. I am quite satisfied with my condition. I am only 1 second slower than the racers who practice daily. Xiao Xiao Zhi supports my racing too. (Just a joke.) He basically supports me, no complaints.

Will you support Xiao Xiao Zhi if he wants to race car in the future?

Jimmy: “I feel that he is interested in racing too. He has a push car that looks like a race car. He is very happy when he’s in it. He blows the horn and zooms around. Of course I’ll support him. Our racing team has a Go-cart car ready for him when he’s ready to race.

Jimmy Lin was racing in the International IFC Renault Formula race at the Shanghai F1 International Circuit. Because of the memorial services set aside for the flood victims the two day race was compressed to one. After the fierce competition Jimmy Lin beat his opponents and got first place. This trophy is very meaningful for him. It’s his first gold after he became a father. The proud father is taking it home to Taiwan to share with his son and family.

Since he became a father Jimmy has grown more mature. The media always ask him about his son Xiao Xiao Zhi. Jimmy said, “I am like everyone else. After I become a father I have more responsibilities and feel that I have reached anther stage in life. Xiao Xiao Zhi is just like me, very active. He moves to the beat of music. My manager gave him a toy guitar. He will swing his butt when he plays and sings, very funny. I feel very blessed watching him grow.”

Jimmy’s family life is full of blessings. The birth of his son also brought him good luck in his showbiz career. His manager Grace said, “Jimmy just finished filming a Chinese idol series, The Single Princess. There are more than 10 projects talking to him. He’ll do 2 movies and 1 tv series before December. There is also a new EP, promotions for the new tv series, and public performances. His concert tour will have to be pushed back to next year.

Jimmy is very picky about projects. For his son he has to start doing more than one project at a time. He said, “My son is my pride and joy. I treasure good scripts now. I hope I’ll have more good works for him to see.”

Even though the new father can still dazzle girls in idol series he shows his fatherly love when talking about his son. Tomorrow (10/15/2010) is Jimmy Lin’s 36th birthday. He rushed back to Taiwan last month for his precious son’s birthday party but has to spend his own birthday at work. Even though he is not with his family his co-stars Rene Liu, Cecilia Cheung, Tang Wei and the Korean actor Han Jae Suk gave him a surprise party. The surprised Jimmy is touched.

Jimmy is at the Zhuhai International Circuit filming director Jingle Ma Cho Shing’s racing movie. The team found out about Jimmy’s up-coming birthday and gave him a surprise party. He said, “Racing is my interest and career. I am very grateful that Director Ma gives me this chance to work on the big screen again. I learned a lot from him. This movie has a very strong cast (Tang Wei, Rene Liu, Cecilia Cheung, Han Jae Suk). It’s a movie not to be missed.

Nicolas Tse came to the set, and the two fathers talked about their parenting experience. Seeing Nicolas’s son, Jimmy can’t help but think of his own son Kimi. He talks to his son daily via webcam. He said, “My birthday wish is to see Kimi grow up safe and happy. This is every parent’s wish.”

Besides working on this racing movie Jimmy is also filming a romance comedy “If I Were You”. Jimmy said he wants to try out different roles in different genres.

Jimmy’s manager Grace said, “This is his busiest year, two movies and two series. The series Single Princesses and Blind Dates that just aired on Hunan TV got the highest average ratings in its time slot. After the two movies he’ll start filming the remake of My Girl. His EP and concert will have to wait till next year.

The leads for producer Chai Zhi Ping’s new idol series “Rainbow Sweetheart” (the remake of My Girl) are Jimmy Lin and Cherrie Ying. They first met at costume fitting a few days ago. Cherrie told Jimmy that she has watched him on TV singing and dancing since she was a little girl. That made him smile embarrassingly.

Cherrie is planning her wedding to Jordan Chan and seeing that Jimmy is so content with a son she wants to start a family soon. After they finished the photo shoot she told him, "You face is smaller than mine. I have to lose a few pounds."

Cherrie adored Jimmy when she was a kid and now has a chance to work with him. She laughed and said, “Never thought that we would collaborate on an idol series when we are both married. It feels wonderful.”

Because of Selina’s injury on the set Cherrie’s mother warns her not to be in hazardous scenes. The production also bought insurance for them. This is the first time Cherrie works with the director Lin He Long. Her father has heard of the director’s bad temper and warned her to behave herself.
