(2/1/2004) Stephanie Cheng Yung just returned from Thailand. She claimed that someone accused her of being pretentious. "The plane only has English papers, so I took one. Then the girl next to me said to her friend, 'That is Cheng Yung, pretending to be able to read English newspaper. Her education level is only at third year secondary school.' I heard and immediately dropped the paper. I thought about watching a foreign film but I am afraid that someone will say I am pretending so I am sticking with Hong Kong films."

Awww.. Poor Stephanie!! Sometimes I browse through the Chinese newspaper (even though my Chinese reading comprehension is VERY limited..) just to look at the pictures or even see what I can make out in the articles..

Wow, guess somebody's not a fan of Stephanie Cheng...kind of rude to say it within her hearing even if they didn't know she heard AND understood them. It's not like she can't pick up the paper if she doesn't know english...and how do they know she's going to PRETEND to read it? lol. At least respect the singer and say it when she's not near them. Tsk. How would they feel if someone talked about them like they weren't there?
