Yea no cold things when you have cramps. When you have bad cramps, there are a couple of position you can do to lessen the pain. You can also take midol or something but I don't usually take anything. I would also not go swimming during my period either. No overactive exercise basically.

avoid gassy food cuz that's when you feel bloated right? so any beans or milk or even broccolli can make you feel bloated and gassy...so I would stay away from those types of food.

definetly drink plenty of water .. taking too much medicine is not good because your body would be used to it, and it wouldnt work anymore .. i believe vitamins are supposed to be good too .. blah; but different people have different pains in their period >__> me .. for the first two days, i get this bloated gassy feeling x__x

Even though I don't get cramps, I've heard that you shouldn't drink caffeine or eat cold things and take warm showers/baths.

cool eating a banana will make the cramps dissapear , worth a try. I will definately try that. I only get cramps every other month. I don't usually take anything but if it hurts really bad then i take midol it works.(atleast for me)

Like most of you, my mom told me not to drink anything that's cold. For some reason sweets always make me feel better during my time of the month.

I dunno about the rest, but for me pineapple and cold drinks will make the pain worse and prolonged my period.... as for the pain, you can try to put a hot water bottle or something like that to make you feel better. Me...I just pop the pills. Makes my day more bearable...

o yer chocolate helps coz i think the cocoa beans have some natural chemical in it to make people relaxed.

actualli laying flat on yur back or standing up straight does not realli work IMO. my mum told me to lay down and curl up into a ball. that does help i find.

also yu shouldnt wash yur hair on the first day of yur period since i dunno how to translate but "wind" can get into yur head easily and giv yu headaches. (according to the older generation).

oh i never knew about pineapples giving yu heavier periods >.< better avoid those at that time of the month in the future xD

my friend suggested that one day before your period, take a pain reliever and it won't hurt the next day. For me, i try to stay away from the meds unless i really need it, so i put a heating patch on the abs to sooth it. But remember, when its hurting, try not to eat or drink cold stuff, cuase it cramp it more.

i heard avoid cold things, greasy/oily things, drink/eat more hot/warm things
exercising should help... not a lot of hardcore exercising, but some should help for circulation and such.

a lotta people say heat packs help a lot during hard times too =]

Actually if you're having pains you should try dinking green tea. It always works for me. Makes the pain go away. I don't know if it makes my period heavier or not but if the pain is gone that is what matters. For me when I eat sweet/sugary stuff it makes my period heavier. Just try experimenting to see what works for you. Everyone's body is different. Good luck.

The reason why they say you shouldn't wash your hair during your period is that when you get older, you will have major headaches (really bad ones) that won't go away for a while. That was back then when hair dryers didn't exists. Even today, when you wash your hair during that time of month, make sure you dry your hair really well. It shouldn't be damp or wet at all.

And of course, like everyone say, try not to eat cold and cool stuff. It would make the pain worst.

I heard that keeping active during your period helps but obviously don't overexert yourself...I also hear that drinking warm water helps to make your period shorter (also helps with the cramps). Not so sure though...

Eating bananas is meant to get rid of cramps/pains... Gentle exercising... And apparently like... putting a hot bottle against your stomache or something like that.. I haven't actually tried, but I read it somewhere before... =)

-Take pain reliever pills a day before your period. (or at night)
-Avoid salty food, or foods high in sodium.
-Talk a walk.
-Take a nap.
-A hot cup of tea to soothe cramps

etc.

Hope that helps. :)

That's correct...TEA, especially Green Tea...something warm is always useful and takes away the crampings. I've haven't had a soda since Dec, 26 2004...(thus my goal..and the fact that it's just not my health choice) and it feels wonderful, but the main point is..something warm is always better than something cold in relieving your cramps. Ever tried a Warming Pad...? It works as well! If you can't get your hands on that, put hot water into a bottle (glass preferably) or a container that you can seal quite well, and set it on your abdomen, because it relaxes the abdominal muscles.

I find hot water bottles really help cramps, and even a light and quick nap if you have the time for it - it helps the pain go away. I tend to stay away from painkillers because I don't like taking any type of drugs if I can handle the pain, but I stick to soup and stuff like that. Sometimes I get slight cramps but other times my cramps can get real bad.;/

- Stay away from caffeine
- Get enough sleep the night before
- Moderate exercise (though this as never actually worked for me)
- Painkiller e.g. Midol, Motrin, Advil, Tylenol, etc.

Try to take warm water. It's can help to reduce your cramping. After your menses clean, eat the (PAI FOONG YUEN) or Pak Chan. It's also help.

walking around is good for your period even though it might be really hard. in other words, simple movement is good, so don't just sit around and do nothing. ummm and sometimes when i have my period, my mom said it's bad to drink certain types of soups... i forgot what ><
