Get better ram if you're planning to clock your c2d. The 1gb ram aint gonna get you anywhere. Otherwise, just get a good HD like a raptor x. If you game a lot, you'll need a btter video card as well. Lastly, get couple fans for your new case.

Like daze, I would get some faster ram if u plan on gaming on that rig. Also, the x700 vid card is pretty old now, maybe try the 7600gt for 90 bucks?

I would highly recommend to ditch the casing and use a normal one instead... no need for casings to look nice if your system is bottlenecked by the Video card. Save that money and spend it on a video card like a 7900GT. You will be happier.

lian li pc-61 case (not the most fancy, but great value and great quality)

1gb of ram is fine. you can upgrade to 2gb if you want but 1gb is more than enough to run xp and vista. you really only need 2gb or more if you are doing serious graphics/video/cad type work. and unless you plan on overclocking, you don't need fancy ram with heatspreaders either. just buy brand name ram from corsair, mushkin, crucial and you'll be fine.

get a good power supply, it is worth the investment. and don't buy something that is high watt just because it is high watt. it is better to have a quality lower watt power supply than a cheap higher watt supply. stick with brands like antec, enermax, and seasonic.

get either a ati x1950 or nvidia 7900 video card. they are reliately cheap now.

and i'd stay away from using vista for at least a few more months, till drivers are available for most devices. a lot of drivers are still in beta right now.

lol yea you forgot those

and don't forget to get some extra fan for all those stuff
:thumbsup

and really, i wouldn't know what kinda advise to give you since i don't know how you gonna use the pc
are you gonna leave it one 24/7, oc, is it gonna be for gaming constantly, music, video?
i do a lot of photoshop on my computer and watches alot of videos as well so i might recommend a different video card if you're doing the same
